Playlists disappear, not customizable please update!

I have been using the Lolo Easy 10K app for 10 years so it seemed like a natural when I went to do a Half Marathon that I would buy the Lolo app for this. Not only was I unable to import my playlist from the 10K app but now my playlist is gone from my Lolo 10 K app! This is a playlist I’ve been curating and adjusting, customizing it for 10 years so it really irks me to have one app erase the playlist from another.

What I do like about HalfMarathonTrainer though is that it is a one time purchase, a rare thing in a land where we can’t seem to buy anything, we can only rent, especially when there is GPS or music involved.

HalfMarathonTrainer has so much potential! However, it feels like it is an orphan app and never gets updated. Somebody, somewhere gets a check each month for work they did a long time ago, don’t they see that they could get a much bigger check for doing some more work even a modest amount, to update HalfMarathonTrainer?

Great app! So happy I chose this one!

I’m really enjoying HalfMarathonTrainer while training for my first half marathon. 2 things need fixing though. The coaching voice needs to have its own volume control. I can hardly hear him while my music is going. I can turn it up but I don’t want my music that loud. Also some of my songs don’t play and I don’t know why and it doesn’t automatically go to the next song.
I love you can up the BPM on songs, that’s very cool and very handy. I also like how you can adjust the run/walk ratio.
If those 2 fixes were done I would easily give this a 5 star rating.

Great for a new PR!

I am running my 13th half marathon and I want to set a new personal record of under 1:45. I picked HalfMarathonTrainer up after having talked to Jeff Galloway in Montana last year and I have to say I am impressed. I would highly recommend HalfMarathonTrainer if you are a runner who wants to improve. I would not call my self competitive, but I bring a focused intensity to my training. I find Mr. Galloway's vocal tone, coaching, and the variation in the workouts refreshing and challenging. I love that it changes the BPM of the music to fit his coaching on advanced workouts. Overall for the price I am happy!!! Run fast and Party hard!!!

Lots of glitches

I love the training program of HalfMarathonTrainer and HalfMarathonTrainer would be amazing if it worked consistently. However, HalfMarathonTrainer regularly glitches and doesn’t work well. For example, when I have my screen turned off it is supposed to notify me with vibrations about when to walk and when to run. That only happens approximately on a third of my work outs. Very regularly HalfMarathonTrainer will freeze in the middle of my workout and I won’t realize it until I realize i hadn’t been notified for a while. The gps does work. I will run during my 30 minutes workouts and HalfMarathonTrainer will say I only went .015 miles (my iPhone gps will log a couple of miles). This was expensive for an app and I really feel that these bugs need to be fixed.

Program great app ok

I have been on the website and I really like the Jeff Galloway walk run program. But HalfMarathonTrainer is very difficult to use. Mine is very touchy. If I touch anywhere on HalfMarathonTrainer while I am using it it will restart which is very frustrating. I do really like how the music speeds up and slows down as you walk and run. I like that you can Taylor this for a run on the treadmill or on the street. Sometimes it is hard to hear his voice while you are running and listening to the music it would be nice if it was just a little bit louder. I only wanted the Half Marathon trainer and was not happy that I had to buy the whole bundle and it was very expensive.

Great.... But

I love HalfMarathonTrainer overall. The training sessions are great and I love that the music speeds up for running and slows for walking. My one issue is its way too easy to accidentally hit the blue bar during the workout, losing part of the session if you move it forward, or repeating if you love it back. With no way of getting back to exactly the spot you left from. It's frustrating to be in the zone and then thrown off course so easily. If there was a safety on that Feature to make sure you really wanted to change the workout, my review would go up to 5 stars.

Great app but one drawback

I have enjoyed HalfMarathonTrainer after going through a running slump after completing an ultra relay. Jeff's method is new to me, so I am excited to see how my next race goes. My only complaint is that not all of my music from my iTunes running playlist sync'd with HalfMarathonTrainer . If I want to run with my actual iTunes playlist, I have to carry my phone and keep the screen unlocked in order for HalfMarathonTrainer to work (very unfeasible). I wish that worked better. Some days I don't run with HalfMarathonTrainer because I get tired of listening to the same few songs over and over.

Favorite Running Trainer

I love HalfMarathonTrainer for the coaching and training tips. I don’t love it for the music syncing. I use Apple Music normally, so I can’t sync my music with HalfMarathonTrainer because of copyright issues. You can still listen to your own music while running though, you just have to keep your screen on the whole time. Love Coach Jeff! Thanks for helping me meet my running goals in a healthy way.

Glitchy

I’ve had HalfMarathonTrainer for years and loved using it to train. However with my newer phone and since becoming an Apple Music subscriber I’m increasingly frustrated. It’s ridiculous that the Apple Music cannot be integrated into HalfMarathonTrainer and having the music app and HalfMarathonTrainer running simultaneously is not ideal bc you can’t have it match the tempo of the music to the your run. Additionally you have to keep HalfMarathonTrainer open which makes it sensitive to your every touch causing the program to stop and/or skip ahead which is so infuriating when you’re in your zone. I feel like it’s just a glorified glitchy interval timer now.

Great App for running Practice

Having run alot earlier I started running again after a break of 10 years and 10 kg...
The features run and walk with synchronized music pace has been fantastic. My knees have not started to ache and its worked with 3 runs + 1 walk per week for the last year with both 26.2 and 13.1 mile programs.
The possibility to adjust music level separately from coaching voice level is very good.
The team has improved on the GPS tracking and provided lots of support when asked.

Amazing app!

I started early training (using get the 13.1 app) this past May for my first Disney princess half coming up in February 2017. A couple weeks ago I randomly signed up for a local half as I felt ready and I just did it this past Sunday (10/9). I wanted to let you know that I couldn't have done it without the help of HalfMarathonTrainer. It's just amazing. I used it on race day and it felt like Jeff Galloway was with me the whole time. If there's anyway I could thank him directly I would.

I definitely recommend HalfMarathonTrainer.

Soft talker ruins it

Great concept. Unfortunately, Jeff is such a soft talker that you can barely understand his cues-the whole purpose of HalfMarathonTrainer . No tone, sound or haptic to cue you. Other issue is that there is no explanation about off days. Each week only has 4 days. It doesn't tell you what needs to happen. Am I supposed to skip days in between or run all 4 in a row and take the last three off? Really needs more support. Also the day bar is easy to skip to the wrong day. Needs an Apple Watch connection too. I guess that is intentional to make you buy the Jeff Galloway $20 watch tracker. I don't want to wear two devices. Fix these issues and it is a 5 Star app.

Worth every penny

Yes it's a bit expensive for an app. And there are lots of free ones out there. But I think this one is worth the money and I'm so glad I got it. Jeff is encouraging and empowering. I feel like my runs go quickly and I'm enjoying them instead of suffering till they are over. I can set my own pace and adjust what I need to for my own body. I really love HalfMarathonTrainer and I'm using it to train for my first half marathon

Encouraging!

One of the things I love about HalfMarathonTrainer is the way it helps you grow your running endurance in a way that is healthy and realistic but still challenging. I used to be an avid runner and due to a knee injury, I stopped running. I gained a bit of weight and wasn't sure how to go from an 8 mile run to something a bit more realistic for my age and size. HalfMarathonTrainer has helped me learn how to run again!

So far pretty good

Overall I like HalfMarathonTrainer but have had several of my long runs messed up when I accidentally touched my phone screen. Also is there an option to repeat a workout? I am going to finish the series of workouts a few weeks before my race and would like to be able to use HalfMarathonTrainer during the race.

Wanted HalfMarathonTrainer so I can check off the program as I go but the issues leave a lot to desire. It can freeze your work out when you lock your screen when you switch apps, so you miss cues and mess up your m/m time. Potential for development: include m/m splits for warm up/workout/cool down so we can actually see what our speed is during our workout. Thus far, it's all grouped together. Hoping for updates in the future, otherwise don't waste your $$$

Second day

Love it! Been doing the Galloway method for a year, just by the information on Disney. Huge difference using HalfMarathonTrainer . I missed out on a lot. This is only my second day with it, but I'm in the 5th week. And just starting it. I wish there was a training schedule for the Disney Darkside Challenge. But I'll work it out. Wish I knew about this sooner.

Music won’t work with it

I need music when running. I can’t for the life of me get my Apple Music to work in HalfMarathonTrainer. And I can’t get HalfMarathonTrainer to run in the background if I have my music playing! I don’t mind having both run at the same time but considering HalfMarathonTrainer wasn’t free it should be able to at least function with outside music playing. I was looking forward to using this to improve my times but I might have to look elsewhere. The couch to half marathon app (Zenlabs) does allow for outside music to play and still get queues....

Love this app!

I was using Jeff Galloways beeper and found that my pace was matching up to my music and had some improvements. However when I got HalfMarathonTrainer and had the music increase to my interval my pace dramatically improved! My only request is that there was an app to train for the runDisney 10K and half marathon challenge.

Helpful Coaching App

Love that I can pipe in my own iTunes and that the tempo of the music changes for walking and running. I find the information Jeff Galloway gives is helpful. However I can not give HalfMarathonTrainer 5 stars as I sometimes can't hear him and wish there was a way to repeat what he said, maybe even after the run.
