ASUS AiCloud Reviews

I have been a faithful ASUS purchaser and fan for over 20 years now but my loyalty is waning due to the fact that their App’s just are not cutting it anymore! ASUSAiCloud immediately closes when selecting the file or device that you want to open. That renders it useless and teases you because you can see what you want to access on your router but there is no way to get to it. Please fix this because I really don’t want to choose another brand of router after all of these years because I can not manage my router as well as I would like to?!?!

I am having problem just to add my router to ASUSAiCloud. It is not mathematic, i cant seem to add router to this aicloud app. I believe you should remove your app from ASUSAiCloud store if it does not working and don't waste my time and yours. I think i will shop for better router and interface layout its time for a change.
I believe what ever we make no mater how simple it is, make it work. Make in a way that it just work whatever it was made for.
Just to add my router going through thr auto wizard, come on simplicity we need not hardship its 2019.

I have ASUSAiCloud setup and working on my connected USB storage. It took a bit of work and Google searches but I got it working. Not very straight forward, but once I got it working it’s nice to have. You will need an app like VLC player to watch videos that are not native to iOS but vlc works great and free. I have my iTunes folder on the drive and now I can get to everything I want.

Can you please remove a white home thin bar indicator, that sits at the bottom of the iPhone screen, while I'm watching video. It is very distracting and uncomfortable to watch videos from the router. Normally it should disappear after a few seconds, but it keeps on the screen during the entire length of the video.

I spent hours trying to figure out how to set up this application and then trying to correct problems encountered while trying to use it. It probably works OK (I did get it to work sort-of), but it was NOT worth it to me. Documentation and procedures are sorely lacking. Recommend you get a techno geek to help you with this and you’ll bypass hours and hours of frustration and life shortening stress. By the way, I finally dumped ASUSAiCloud and switched to OneDrive. It was easier to set up, but still no walk in the park.

I’m using iPhone and iPad. A lot of old video files can not be played by the built-in player. Then it shows only 3 options: 1.download, 2.install glayer, 3. Install aceplayer. It’s unacceptable to download and aceplayer is not available. Gplayer doesn’t work either.
There is no other choice and therefore it is useless for me.
Why can it give me an option to use my favorite player ?

Crashing when refreshing file location. Also when trying to upload files.

You guys have to update ASUSAiCloud! It’s soo old, and it doesn’t even connect to the Files app in the latest iOS releases that’s been there for AGES! Please bring it to the 21st century

Bug: although you can turn on samba to have different accounts with private read write access to network attached storage files, the security in this feature is completely broken because when you log into the web UI for an account with limited read write access to access network files, you can select your file and move / copy it into any other user’s file system even if you don’t have write access. Also you can browse the move / copy list to see all the names of the folders that you shouldn’t be able to access. In addition they didn’t even change the text at the bottom of the move / copy option and it’s still in chinese.

ASUSAiCloud is actually fairly useful and comes with a bunch of features. It’s super strange that there is a Wake on LAN feature from ASUSAiCloud ? What is the use case for that just wondering.

App still crashes when trying to save to local

Consistently crashes specially when you’re trying to upload files.

Could not log into any machine on the network for file sharing. Tried Apple, Windows, Linux. None!

When ASUSAiCloud isn’t crashing it works great

I was skeptical and had low expectations after reading a few reviews. As always with any updated feature I downloaded the newest firmware. The RT-N66U, newest firmware noted support for AiCloud. Downloaded and setup. I cant say enough ASUSAiCloud is awesome!!! I plugged in thumb drives and BOOM movies, books, music!!! Yes you have to use a player for .MKV, but can you really expect it to play...., maybe future updates. Download the Gplayer it works better than the other one with no lag. I h also use it remotely and works fine. I use ASUSAiCloud daily with multiple iPhones and iPads.

ASUS please continue to improve and add features. I would like to see the option to export PDF's to iBooks.

I used to love ASUSAiCloud before the upgrade. Now I can access the my network and view the files if the appliation supports it. But it does there is no option to download the files so you can open it with other apps. I don't understand how a company that makes such good products can make their app worse than before. They need a management change in their software department.

ASUSAiCloud works great for accessing your stored music, video and documents while on the go with your smart phone. It's amazing how you can stream your whole music library (stored via a hard drive connected to your asus router) while over 3G and LTE. I can understand why many reviewers give ASUSAiCloud only a few stars, as it takes quite a bit of time and tweaking of different settings on your router before it will fully function. I imagine many give up after 5 minutes of trying to simply plug and play. After getting ASUSAiCloud up and running with my router which took a few hours, I can never look back to the days without it. ASUSAiCloud deserves 5 stars. Thank you asus for such an innovative product!

Finally got everything working and playing nice together. 5 Stars for RT-N66U & 4 Stars for the Aicloud app. I had to get all the settings in the router set properly before ASUSAiCloud would work properly. It does not access pc's, but did access router great! Showed pics & streamed MPEG's & MP3's. Cloud service worked, but do not know about security? I also have a Asus RT-N16 running TomatoUSB as a AP. Run's Great! The N16 stock software was not ready for primetime, but the N66 worked out of the box and was up and running quickly for basic features most people use it for. Had to tweak & startup stuff to run AiCloud.
Asus makes good hardware, and their software lags behind a bit, But they update often to fix bugs.
FYI ; would be nice if my usb printer that is plugged into my RT-N66U could be used by Apple Airprint.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. In the case of this program, just because you can play a movie doesn't mean you should. You should also allow movies and music to be passed onto other programs. Aicloud cannot open as many formats as other programs. I'd really rather watch the movies with apps that give me more features and have all of my movies in one place.

Other than that, the update fixed the link sheet. Now it pops up and stays up.

There were two things that I was unaware of when I first downloaded it. 1) You can actually change your login so that if you have private folders under a certain login you may view them from this application. 2) When listening to audio files in this application it will automatically go to the next audio file in that directory(although this doesn't always work on my iPhone 4, usually does on my 4S).

Both of those are extremely awesome.

Also, ASUSAiCloud seems to stall when opening large directories, but I doubt that anything can be done about that.

ASUSAiCloud was originally nothing but words on the box (as with much ASUS software) but it has come to vastly exceed my understanding of what it was even claiming. I can access and playback all media SMB shares in my LAN and a WD elements from anywhere. I've had the RT-AC66U since it was released and it has served me faithfully. It is a router for relative experts and enthusiasts; was designed to be. If you're clever enough to puzzle it out the rewards are rich, but those seeking simplicity over versatility should have bought a Netgear and have no business complaining here over their own aversion to troubleshooting and problem solving. It rewards the tenacious and often punishes the unwary or narrow f.o.v. casual user.

ASUS AiCloud Lite app is fine as a mobile app despite some UI clumsiness. The real problem is that AiCloud app on the router is - to put it in a gross understatement, less than robust. Any disruption, even normal reboot, shuts down AiCloud forever. In fact, all router applications that sits on your USB storage - media servers, download master, etc., all shut down permanently after router reboot, reconnect USB, etc., etc. In other words, AiCloud is useless unless your router and connections stay up forever - which is an impossibility and improbability.

I use RT-N56U (which is a nice high performance Wi-Fi router by itself) with Comcast. The router needs a reboot every other month for various reasons. The new supported device list starts with RT-N66U, which doesn’t make sense because RT-N56U prompts downloading of this application, etc., etc.

I'm able to access most of my files that are on my flash drive that's plugged into the back of the router. Haven't experienced any connection problems. Only thing I can't open is any URLs (web page links) that are saved on the flash drive. Not sure if this is a limitation of ASUSAiCloud or if its a problem that can be fixed. Other than that , I really like it. U can even password protect it , in the event someone takes ur phone and tried to access it

Not sure why all the other reviews says ASUSAiCloud doesn't work but works great for me. Maybe their router isn't one of the compatible routers or have outdated firmware? I have a asus rt-n66u router with two simple hd connected to the router via usb. After turning on asus aicloud in settings I'm able to see stream and access all files on the hds fast with no lag. Love being able to add video files to hds and watch it over my phone or iPad any time with out having my computer on or using space on my devices.
