It makes banking easy and convenient.

I absolutely LOVE SunTrust! It actually makes banking kinda fun! SunTrust is so easy to use and you can do just about anything you need to with your account or accounts...from just checking your balance to depositing a check from anywhere. No more worries about not being able to make it to the bank in time now, how awesome is that!? Banking sure has come a long way through the years. I remember how it was when I opened my first account. WOW! Things sure have changed, and I love it! Sure, it’s not a perfect system and that’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars. It’s not anything big, it’s just that I’ve noticed SunTrust has a lot of issues with it NOT being available. It will give me a message of either it’s due to “maintenance”... and I completely understand that. However, sometimes I get a message that it simply just “is not available at this time sorry for the inconvenience”. It gets a little frustrating because it seems to happen right when I REALLY need it. Other than that, like I said earlier... it’s awesome!




Acceptable, but WAY behind

SunTrust does most basic stuff well. It uses touch/Face ID. You can check your balance easily. You can transfer funds easily to another this app account, as long as it’s not a business account. You can even do mobile check deposits.

The main thing this is missing is the ability to link your business checking account using SunTrust. You *have* to use their separate business app (which btw, shows in the version history it hasn’t been updated in TWO YEARS) if you want to transfer funds between accounts. They’re the only major bank that does this and it’s so annoying. Want to order checks through SunTrust ? Too bad, gotta use the website. Want to use SunTrust on a Saturday or Sunday? Good luck, it’s down half the time on the weekends. Want to search for a transaction? It doesn’t find what you search for half the time, even tho the listed transaction has the same amount/details you searched for once you eventually scroll down and find it. I thought SunTrust was nearly perfect for a while, until I started hearing my friends that use other banks talk about the things they can do easily thru their bank app that require much more hassle on my end. I won’t get into it, nor does this reflect on my rating, but opening a business account and the slew of problems that came with it showed me how much of a mess their system is. It honestly makes me uneasy about keeping my money here and has me researching other banks....




So far so good.

I’ve used SunTrust only for deposits so far. I have found it easier to use than the Citibank app and so far as it seems to tolerate my one sometimes shaky hand better than Citibank, which means if you were retakes.

I will use SunTrust to transfer money but for the time being not to pay bills. My transactions will be limited. Nevertheless if they go well I might be inclined to up the rating to five stars.

I don’t know and can’t tell whether the dictation and transcription functions are this app software or Apple software. I make this distinction because in writing this review there have been no Arbitrary changes Or creative inventions of words or spelling and no omissions. The Apple software on my phone and laptop and desktop are all up-to-date and they are woefully miserably inadequate and prone to errors in every sentence.




Most Important Mobile app

The this app mobile app lets me do all the banking I used to have to go to my bank for. I would have to drive there in the hot afternoon or cold and do my banking. When gas went through the ceiling I looked for an easier way. I found SunTrust. I can’t express enough how much I appreciate the time I save, the gas, and the quickness. I also feel very secure banking with this app Bank because they pay attention to what I do so if anything changes and I don’t call to let them know that I’m doing anything different they will freeze my account to keep my money safe. These days you need someone like this watching your money because there are so many people out there that want to separate you from your money. In over ten years SunTrust has been down for updates or working on something. All I can say is I love SunTrust. Thank you to the developers for making this safe and easy to work with. I’m sure there are many others who’ll say the same.




Mobile banking is constantly unavailable without notice

As I write this review (1pm EST on a Thursday) mobile banking is down yet again for the 4th time this week. It’s also unavailable most weekends at night, which I assume are their maintenance windows. You would have thought that the public issue last year where mobile banking was down for almost a week would have led to some improvements at least on the communication front, but when a mobile banking app is down in the middle of a weekday without any notice or communication indicating when service will be restored, I think it’s time for a new bank. I travel a lot for work and there are times when immediate transfers are needed or I need to confirm my balance. Not being able to trust that SunTrust is going to work at least 98% of the time (I’m reasonable enough to assume that this can’t always be 100%) is absolutely unacceptable. My account has been officially closed as of today. I hope that this review helps either ST consider improving their practices or a potential account holder in making an informed decision on where to hold their money, especially if they ever need to access it on the go. Could be so much better

Distinguishing between the convenience a banking ap brings and what a really good banking ap is, I conclude that this one is lacking. I use the aps for a couple of different banks. this app’s functions, for instance, to rename an account to something recognizable, are hidden and not intuitive. The check deposit allows you to change accounts before you deposit, but it is not obvious. Bill pay option is not visible on my iPhone (is it even available?) from the mail screen or under “more.” Online, the bill-pay section pages are so busy with redundant information that you can’t see the information needed. I have inadvertently paid bills from the wrong account as the need to make the choice wasn’t obvious to me (and I consider myself an advanced computer user).

My favorite banking ap is Elevations Credit Union which this app ap developers could benefit from looking at.

I have offered to give more feedback to this app, but have not received a reply. I used to test software. This one works but could be much better.




Latest update screwed up

1. I don't like when they update SunTrust without any notification. SunTrust icon color was changed and the layout of SunTrust is also changed. This make you wonder if it was a this app update or is this a spam app. Let us know when you make changes.
2. SunTrust alway logs you off too soon. You can be in the middle of bill pay and it says this app services not available and you have to login again.
3. They really messed up bill pay with the latest update. When you tap pending payments, it used to work great but now the date order makes no sense. Example; let's say it's June 1st and I'm paying my bills for June 15. When I tap pending payments , the top of the list shows upcoming July payments followed by June 15th payments. The first thing I want to see at the top of the list is my next pending payments due, not those due one or two months from now.
4. I don't know why they are always changing SunTrust around. If works fine and they have to get inside and mess it up. I hate the new update.




Mobile app good when available

I have been a this app customer for several years and aside from financial accounts I also have a mortgage with them. The this app mobile app has been much improved in the last couple of years and does allow full online access to my banking accounts with bill pay ability and remote deposit. However SunTrust works very well when it is accessible. Almost every weekend, definitely Fridays and usually Sundays, SunTrust is usually not available for use. Not only is SunTrust unavailable but the online banking site is also unavailable for use during these times. The only way to obtain balances, make transfers or make any payments (which I’ve never done) is through their telephone access. It can be frustrating because it’s either telephone or physically go to the bank or an ATM which defeats the purpose of a mobile app.




Definitely a Strong Product

I have been with this app for 20+ years and to date I am thoroughly satisfied with mobile app. Each update has clearly improved the product. I need to point out that I have not always been as positive with your phone staff. Phones are clearly a necessity to the success of any automated product as it provides the human intervention for customers when a problem or question occurs which is generally inevitable. Often found your phone csr’s somewhat weak and sometimes more confused than me. Same to be said for the staff who answer online questions. Mostly they seem to not understand the question or misinterpret the issue. In these cases I find myself going to my local branch for resolution. This remains a serious weakness to your service.




Not impressed

I find glitches in SunTrust constantly and the tellers tell me to “delete SunTrust and try reinstalling” this happened constantly when i had my money market place savings. It would give me a pop up warning that i was exceeding limits that none of the tellers go explain. I’d have to go into their branches DAILY for fees for excessive transfer because they couldn’t understand why. They finally switched my account and realized they were never linked after i repeatedly asked that they were.

This is not the only issue I’ve had. This is one of many. Also it’d be nice if their IT department could get the apps up and running. It’s one thing to have the system down for a few hours it’s a totally unacceptable annoyance when it’s been a full 24 hours... happens to be the weekend so all branches around here are closed. I can’t pay any bills using my mobile app because it’s still down. Come on guys- get it together




No. (Credit Pay)

SunTrust does 1,000 things so bear in mind I’m only commenting on a single function: Transfer Funds/Pay Credit

I love this app. They survived 2008 with their reputation intact and have been kind to us for over 30 years. But SunTrust is far inferior to the previous version when it comes to what I do most: Transfer Money.

This function was written by someone who desperately needs to be tested for Dyslexia, as it is completely backwards. I am not a client who pays the Minimum Amount, nor am I someone who can pay the Total Balance. I am someone who pays What I Can When I can, and from my perspective SunTrust was not designed with my interests in mind.

My options are always dead last on the scroll, which may be odd because paying a variable amount strikes me as the most attractive option for both businesses and consumers.

This results in a lot of extra clicking that might be forgiven and forgotten, ifnot for my next complaint:

Paying your credit card with SunTrust places you in a Black Hole.

Scary thought? Try it yourself. Transfer a balance, or pay your credit card, and ask yourself how to get back to Manage My Accounts. You can’t. Not directly. Once you pay your debts with SunTrust you are supposed to stare at your Transaction History and be left to reflect on your debts. There is no going back. There is no path Home. There is just You and your Debt. For all eternity.




Meets expectations but has an odd problem

I just want to start off by saying that SunTrust is extremely helpful, and I haven’t had any serious problems.
However, it will sometimes lock me out of my own account, I began to realize that if I were to type my password in the notes app (foolish of me) it would kick me out until I sign back on. No problem there, it makes sense. But when I changed my password completely with capital letters and numbers it still decides to kick me out. I figured that maybe something else was throwing it a red flag, so the only option I had was to select “I Forgot My Password” and enter in all my information again. Doing this once is not a problem, but it becomes grating when you have to do it dozens of times.
Once again I GREATLY appreciate SunTrust, but I’m perplexed as to what the problem is with this.




So convenient!

I love the this app app and use it all the time! My only complaint I don’t think actually has to do with SunTrust and that is with a this app policy. They have some limit on how many checks you can deposit on SunTrust each month and also on the total amount of money that you can deposit on SunTrust each month. It’s very annoying and so I end up having to drive my deposits to the bank after about half the month.
Other than that, I find SunTrust extremely easy to use and so very convenient! I also love that it logs me in using my fingerprint so I don’t have to remember a password each time. It’s great to be able to check my bank balances with just a couple taps on my phone. Love it!




Search feature

First of all, SunTrust works very well and makes life so much easier. I understand it’s not a complete replacement to using the this app website, but for me it’s pretty close. The biggest gripe I have is the lack of search functionality within an account. Something as simple as being able to search on a few characters to find a credit or debit quickly by the name would be huge. And honestly this should be there already. Filtering by date or check number is the only option. Imagine hunting for that one charge from a few months ago when u don’t know the date or if it was even charged? This should be an easy feature to add and would greatly increase the usability of SunTrust .




Unreliable

SunTrust along with the online banking is ALWAYS down, it happens multiple times a week leaving you with no way to check your balance. In addition SunTrust has an odd way of tallying pending transactions, ‘available’ balance and ‘current’ balance which all results in showing you an incorrect summation of what is actually in your account at a quick glance (which you wont figure out until you get hit with an overdraft fee for making a purchase when SunTrust clearly showed you had enough money in the account at the time). Bring this up to a rep and they will give you some puzzle of a response that doesn’t make sense about how the ‘available’, ‘current’ and pending come into play. Shouldn’t it be as simple as checking SunTrust to see how much I have in the account? Nope, with this bank and app it never is that simple. You’d be better off keeping a mental tally of your funds than relying on SunTrust.
