Not a fan of new update

This new update is really bad. It won’t let me use it in Landscape mode like the previous version. In looking at my transactions, it doesn’t show where they’ve been made, except I have to click on each one, each time, to see it. Then it takes me back to start page. It requires more of my time. The older version was far more efficient and easier. Hope you make more changes, this really isn’t a good update to CBT at all.

Can’t use mobile deposit

CBT is garbage. It’s ok to check balances, but the main reason for CBT (for me) is to be able to use the mobile deposit. I don’t even try anymore. It won’t deposit checks, money orders, cashiers checks. It just says “unsuccessful”. I’m fortunate that I like the tellers and manager and my branch isn’t busy, but I have to set aside time to go in now. It’s especially frustrating when I switched from Chase to this app, but the simplest transaction requires many more steps than my previous bank.

15 years behind the curve

CBT does the basics like transfer between accounts and mobile check deposit, however lacks very standard things like being able to view my routing number in order to setup payments, among other small things like being able to make a credit card payment without CBT opening a separate browser window. These issues are secondary to constantly being completely locked out of my own account for using a password with a basic symbol, or for using my iPhone’s Face ID to login. My wife is constantly getting locked out, and this is making it so that I almost regret not switching to this app for my daily debit needs. CBT needs a complete overhaul.

Requires too many camera shots

This application requires in some cases up to five retakes of the camera shots of the front and sometimes the back before the application accepts the deposit even if the image looks perfect. Unlike the Bank of America app which usually requires only one shot per side, automatically takes the shot when it is in focus and turns on the smart phone light if needed. It still beats going to the branch to make the deposit.

Mobile deposit can be glitchy

Trying to make a mobile deposit can be very frustrating. Some checks require multiple attempts before it is accepted. CBT will say my check isn’t endorsed properly or that the dollar amount entered does not match the check. Eventually, it will accept it after multiple time consuming attempts.

Mediocre App

Unfortunately, CaB&T app is much inferior to some other banks’ apps. For instance BofA app clicks the camera the minute the front and back of check is focused. Finding the “Deposit Check” spot takes several clicks. With BofA, the menu at the bottom has about 5 choices. CaB&T is bland. Basically a 2-color app which necessitates staring for words instead of quick color or design prompts. What about having a notation available to remember where a deposited check came from or what is was for, etc.? Even rating CBT took some clicks. There are many more little inferiorities, but it feels like a first generation attempt and BofA feels like a state-of-the-art app. P.S. It pains me to make these comments because I like this bank better than BofA. They’re people friendly, if not so user friendly— kinda like a sweet old grandma.

Check photos

The pictures kept getting turned down until I turned on the flash in the upper left corner. You also need to leave a good border of blank space around the check to get the full check to appear within the photo border for deposit.
Gave it several try’s. It finally worked.
Love being able to make deposits with out driving to the bank! Very very handy.

Deposits

Deposits are frustrating
1. On the first of every month I have several checks to deposit. It normally takes 2-4 tries to complete each. I am using one of you provided deposit endorsement stamps.
2 the notices for whether the deposit was accepted or not look far too much alike. There are a dozen or more words and the only difference is the 2 characters “un” that are hard to see at the end of the second line
Instead the first word to be seen on the notice should be either
Successful or
Unsuccessful
on line by itself. After that, place whatever text you want.
It looks like it was designed by a computer programmer not a customer communication professional

I love my bank!

California Bank and Trust customer service is always superb no matter what location I go to. I feel like my money is very safe there and their online banking via CBT or computer is very safe and easy to navigate. I love my bank!!

User Friendly App

This is a great institution to bank with in the first place. Everyone is kind and remembered my name after one visit. The mobile banking app is easy to navigate through and use all around for any of my general banking tasks. If you already bank with them and you haven’t gotten CBT yet..... why the heck not???

Statements and Credit Card

Shouldn’t it open on an in app browser tab instead of directly into Safari? Like when I click on link on other apps it’ll load the page into an in app browser tab. Then it give the option to open in Safari.

Hard to read on mobile app UPDATE…

My original review was 3 stars because the descriptions were listed vertically and it was very hard to read. Thank you for fixing CBT and notifying me of the update. That has never happened before. I appreciate being heard, thank you!

Suggestion

Other bank apps take the photo of the check automatically, when they determine that the image is clear and complete. Giving the user the option of retaking the picture is superfluous if the image is already acceptable.

👍

I actually love CBT. I had some slight problems with it in the past such as small miscellaneous crashes and trouble loading, but with each update these inconveniences have been disappearing. Now it is wonderful. It has made my mobile banking experience such a breeze. It’s quick and easy, allows me to transfer money to my separate accounts with just a few simple clicks, and depositing checks no longer requires a trip to the bank. I am very pleased with CBT, keep up the good work 👍

Good app, could be great EDITED REVIEW*

CBT is straightforward and works well. I especially appreciate the convenience of mobile deposits. The one feature which would make it great in my opinion is a fingerprint login capability. Hope this is already in the works! Thanks for listening.
* I followed the instructions and was able to get the Touch ID working. Great app!! Thanks for the help.

Capture images

CBT does not work sometimes for no reason. The pictures are clear and CBT doesn’t seem to be able to read the content.
It has been failing more and more lately and now about half the time it doesn’t work.
Very frustrating.

Help

The staff for CB&T are extremely wonderful. Unfortunately the branch for Roseville moved to Arden Way in Sacramento, CBT is frustrating regarding it will not clarify exactly how to take a picture. If there would be a how to take steps would be very helpful. It doesn’t matter if voided one or fake one. It’s really hard to remember how to take the pictures. It took me a long time just to deposit via app. Please.

Great Service

I have banked with California Bank And Trust since 1995 mainly in the la mesa branch, they have earned my Trust and Loyalty with Awesome customer service, from refinancing my Home to getting a second loan on my home on another occasion always getting me the best lowest competitive rates. When I come in they always make me feel at home when they greet me and know me by name.

Comments

I enjoy the fact that I don’t have to drive 35 miles to make a deposit because most of the California Bank And Trust facilities have closed and the closest to me is in Temecula which is 35 miles away and I also like the fact that I could make any kind of transfer transactions with all of my accounts to pay bills etc. without the need to having to write check

Works great

I didn’t think to write a review until now, because CBT just works. I’ve been using it for my business regularly for years and I’ve seen improvements in the mobile check deposit reliability.
