I'm on Iphone 14 plus. I tried to type, it doesn't do anything. If you try to change the settings it freezes FadeIn . The only time it works is if I edit the template screenplay. Even then, the shortcuts like Scene heading, Dialogue etc don't work and/or automatically change like it does on a desktop. I can't understand how FadeIn even passed qc (assuming there's even a qc) before putting on the platform?

The reason I gave this one star is because I couldn't try the features I want FadeIn for. I'm specifically looking for an app that will allow me to import and edit a script. I downloaded the free version first just to sample it and make sure it does what I need it to do. Unfortunately, the two features I'm most interested in are not features you can try before buying. I'm really sorry, but as much as the description of FadeIn appeals to me, buying it without trying out the import and editing features is out of the question for me. I get why you don't have it in the free version, but still, there are ways you can do it. Couldn't you allow the import and editing to work in the free version for a 24 hour period? Maybe you could disable the "save" on any imported script on the free version. Game apps do things like that all the time. I'd also like to try importing and exporting television templates.
Anyway, sounds like this is a really great app, but there really should be a way for people to try out all of the features before purchasing FadeIn .

The desktop version of Fade In has changed my life! I am so grateful to have FadeIn that I literally work with on a daily basis and helps me survive as an artist. So thank you for that (praise). I think the mobile version of this app needs to be completely revamped. I hope this review motivates the this app crew and does not demoralize them. I truly am rooting for you guys! Looking forward to giving you 5 stars and even more praise in the future. May the force be with you all!

I really enjoy the desktop version and was excited using the mobile version for on the go. However, after using it for some days FadeIn will crash and delete majority of my work. Then there’s the interface that starts to warp itself when you have a long script. In addition to using it with a wireless mechanical keyboard, it doesn’t allow you to use some shortcuts like deleting all whole word. Really wish they would update FadeIn and make it more easier to toggle through the action, scene, transition, etc instead of having to press it with your fingers.

Sometimes when I close a script, then open it back up a few hours later, an entire random section my writing will have just disappeared. It can range from two sentences of dialogue, to a twenty sentence action scene, which is very annoying. I also don’t understand why you can’t copy and paste text. If I could write on Google Docs, then paste it to FadeIn in order to format the script, I could live with that, but I can’t. I don’t know if that’s by design, or if it’s a bug. I understand this is the free version, but I really don’t think not getting my work deleted and being able to copy and paste is too much to ask for.

Downloaded and started typing, but FadeIn wouldn’t respond. Tried scene heading, dialogue…etc…nothing. Tried downloading FadeIn again, but still wouldn't respond. Avoid at all costs. Even though it cost nothing.

The updates to this program in the last year or two have totally kneecapped its functionality as a screenwriting tool for IPad/Tablet users.
Can no longer freely work within the body of a script, instead, it forces the user to work in each element separately. Each in their own little bubble. And you can forget about copy/pasting large blocks of text from Notes or Word. Impossible.
Ugh. Save your money for the costlier competitor or stick with the free version of this or the other middling free Screenwriting program.

It doesn't work very well, very limited settings, poor implementation of Dropbox. FadeIn, even free version should be able to import Dropbox without having to do it directly within FadeIn . Dropbox in FadeIn loses its sync and has to be reloaded in. Imports from Dropbox is slow even for small files, unable to open synced files even to read only offered in free version. I had it installed last year in IOS 8 because a collaborator uses this app but uninstalled it for similar reasons. I'll be uninstalling it again. I installed it this time because I am working with the same collaborator (now using IOS 9 & 10) and will switch to PDF or OpenOffice instead. this app needs updated to import from other Apps like the free Open Office and also from Google Dropbox. An iPhone user should be also be able to go directly into the Dropbox app and do an "Open-in" on the documents and be able to select this app to have the document launch into this app. FadeIn seems very technology outdated for iPhone users.

FadeIn only syncs to Dropbox. Doesn't sync to iCloud or any other cloud service. No way to export to email either. Some weird, jumpiness made it hard to edit headers. I'm on a iPad mini. Maybe that's why? Feel bad about the score - I didn't get too far before quitting. Others seem to love it! May try again if they add other cloud services.

It seemed to work, at first. I was able to add a single scene but it soon stopped doing that. Tried deleting script and starting over and even reinstalling. >_> I doubt that I am the required level of incompetent to not be able to manage working software.

The formatting aspect of FadeIn is pretty cool. But unless you have Fade In software on your laptop or desktop this is virtually useless. Maybe it's foolish on my part but I thought I'd be able to export to Final Draft and that is not the case.

Great screenplay app. HOWEVER, all it needs is THE ABILITY TO SAVE IT AS A .txt FILE. PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE FOR DROPBOX. The lack of this feature has caused me to be unable to make my movie. (Paper scripts are easier to memorize.) My computer cannot view, nor print, .this app files.

I am using this for scripting a comic I'm making, so I haven't tried any of the sharing functions.
Anyway, I like it - easy to use, easy to understand.
The one improvement I'd like to see made is the ability to delete a line. If I press enter accidentally, then that space will be there forever - which is a problem when editing long, already finished documents.

I read the above review and here's part of the problem. The predictive portion of the keyboard gets in the way. There is a way you can flip it open with your fingers so the scene menu shows up. Otherwise you can always shut off your predictive part of your keyboard by going into settings> general> keyboard> and where it says predictive just flip it to "off" mode. I just played around with it a little while ago and it works just fine. The next time there's an update they should program it so that it goes on automatically rather than trying to find a way to turn it on.

You can only have 2 scripts at once on the free version, but really solid app. But it has a glitch right now. Can't pick scene, action, or any of the headings while the keyboard is up. Please fix! This didn't start happening until after 8.0.2 was released. Otherwise really great app for pros or beginners :)

I've had no issues. Will buy the upgrade so that I can sync back and forth between my iphone and ipad.

I listend to Chrome Noir on the Blacklist Table Reads podcast and it was amazing. I heard your interview and checked out your app. I'm just starting to try to write things for fun and this is a wonderful tool. Very organized and easy to use.

I use the fade in app on pc, and I was pretty delighted to see the mobile version. FadeIn is Amazing, as I'm able to edit scripts in the last minute without any issues. Clean user interface and unbelievably easy to use! I would recommend all filmmakers to use FadeIn. Hope to buy pro someday.....

I am starting out in the screenplay writing business, and this is a nice app... I just wish there were more features, and a way to convert the files... Other than that, simple and nice!

I'm writing a scrip and this allows me to effortlessly add characters, dialog and everything I need that I don't feel like typing in. I've been searching forever for an app like this

If you want to direct a play, movie, or perhaps a musical, this is the perfect free app. It has everything needed to write a good script. I started it right away and I wrote two whole scripts! If you are looking for something easy and free, this is it. It even says how to use it! Please download. It is amazing.

Great for writing screenplays for theatre and cinema. No complaints!

I'm not sure why someone would write an entire screenplay on their phone. But I use this for quick screen ideas while away from my laptop. I highly recommend the iOS version as well.
