VPN Express - Free Mobile VPN Reviews

This used to be a reliable app, especially when I was traveling overseas in deployments. But that was a couple of years ago. Like other users, I was an original purchaser so I recently went back to try VPNExpress out. It appears the Developers gave up on VPNExpress and just let it be. Yet I see they still offer In-App Purchases to take the money of any suspecting users - old and new.

Why Apple allows unsupported apps to remain on VPNExpress Store is beyond me. But for your own protection, with no Developer feedback nor critical updates in OVER 3 YEARS, you may want to delete your account and uninstall VPNExpress afterwards. Lots have changed in the cyber community in the 3 years since the last update. iOS has changed drastically since then as well. VPNExpress definitely runs into numerous compatibility issues beind the scenes. I would not trust this buggy lack-of-update-sometimes-uncompatible-app to protect my privacy online in any way, shape, or form. I advise any other user to be conscious of this as well.

With the availability of VPNs out there, service providers like this need to up their game. Sure, VPNExpress functions as a VPN and it is not free if you intend to use it for any length, but the plans are reasonable and comparable to other providers. I dislike this particular VPN because it gives a false sense of security. You connect just fine and start doing your thing, then... the VPN cuts off. So there you are- vulnerable. You had a vpn on when you started your session, but heaven help you if you don't watch the vpn icon like a hawk. It will cut off and then all your traffic will be ripe for the picking for anyone that is inclined. Kind of like having a car that is unreliable and subject to stop running at random times. Not ideal for security at all! As stated, with as many VPNs that are out there, find one that delivers.

The VPN was working, but now it gives me this error for user authentication. I paid for a premium membership and I haven’t even used more than 10 percent of it yet. Now I can’t use the VPN at all. And when I try to contact someone it tells me I need to login or have an email setup which is bogus because I’ve signed in after changing my password several times. On top of which my email is the one I used to create the account so why can I message the devs to help me. Please respond back with a fix and I’ll change my review and rating. If not I will contact Apple to get a refund on my IAP payment since it would be fraudulent.

I have been using VPNExpress and service for several years. Recently I noticed that it no longer connects to the server in Windows 10. Days “A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed.” Nothing I do seems to help. I can sporadically connect the vpn on my iPhone 6, and iPad Air 2, but the connection drops after a time. There does not seem to be any way to contact the developer for support. The most recent support help online is for Windows 8, I was able to find a link directing to Microsoft vpn setup for Windows 10, but this was of no help.

Update: no longer usable in China since last week. Please fix this...will change to 5 stars if it works. I can’t reach customer service because....your site is blocked in China.

I'm using VPNExpress from beijing and got everything setup in 5 minutes. I have used several other vpns before and this price can't be beat. Also I loved the fact that it is bandwidth based rather than monthly subscription, which is great for an occasional user like me. Oh, did I mention that you get 100mb free when you register?

In terms of speed, I haven't really tested it yet as compared to other vpns but hey, at this price I wouldn't really be concerned about it.

It's a great free app, I use it when I am in other countries and can't access my accounts overseas.
You can purchase data for VPNExpress, but they do also offer free chances to win data. Most of all you don't have to watch videos or ads. That being said if you want to purchase data it's relatively cheap.
Bottom line a must for any traveler or anybody using wifi or in protected networks.

After two weeks VPNExpress is fixed and working great like it used to
Suddenly, I can’t log in, deleted app and downloaded again, still get network error. Wasn’t sure of password problem, have requested password reset over twenty times and not get any response. No way to contact them.
Too bad, great app until a week ago

Hadn’t used in some time and started getting the authentication prompt others have mentioned. Followed the auto-setup step to install the VPN profiles into the system settings. Back working again. Connect from the system VPN page to select a specific profile. Similar install steps as other IOS VPN apps, and also like others, connection not accepted by cable tv app.

I use VPN Express since about four years and it was excellent for more than 3 years. But since several months ago it is impossible to connect. I presume that owing that VPNExpress is not updated 4 years already, may be there is some conflict with latest iOS.
Please check it and update VPNExpress . I paid several Data Plan and now I still have a Quota of more than 100 Gb which I am not able to use (status is: normal). Don’t want to loose this money !

LOL. Did that sound crazy... I hope so. Anyway, on to the "sane" review. I am harassed constantly online by d-bags. Call them what you will but they are skilled and have no lives. This helps but only a little.

Used to be a good app but it definitely has problems. Zero customer service of any kind.
I kept it for the free daily bonus “check in” data, but since the beginning of this week (today is 5-22), I am unable to access VPNExpress and cannot log into the account. Is VPNExpress dead or alive? No customer service contact to find out what is going on.
The fact that they still offer “purchase plans” should be disallowed by VPNExpress Store if VPNExpress is not being actively serviced.

Not worth it, was good but has sacrificed quality with the new version of iOS, i.e. trying to force those of us with your Oder system to scrap them and buy new ones. The VPN connection lasts at max 48 minutes before crapping out to the point that VPNExpress that you are working with must be restarted. Done with Apple and any app writer who is forcing the messed up Apple business model. Why can't I keep a device running until it dyes? I still have one of the original Samsung devices running and is fine after 8 years

It's a very good app. It gives you everyday and every month a lucky draw, so you can win some free usage.
Works very well, never disconnects by itself. Does not force you to pay for extra services.

been using for years. especially helpful in mainland china. personal tech support hard to come by but thats because service is so cheap. plus there are very clear instructions and so very few problems you never need tech support

It was the best before. Why? Cuz it's steady, fast and besides with a suitable plan that you can choose at your needs. It also gives you a lucky draw fun every month that you can increase your volume for free. But during these two months, just don't know what happened to your server that I cannot use my profile any longer, nor even I can successfully login. Try so many times and it just can't login. What happened?

The other VPN apps seem to turn themselves off all the time or cost a lot of money, VPNExpress works very smooth with the iPhone don't have to mess with any proxy settings just turn it on and away you go. Very happy with it and I can use it on multiple devices.

Love VPNExpress! It allows me to watch programs overseas that I cannot get access to and feel like I am home. It is also very affordable. It works extremely well as long as you keep up with monthly subscriptions. I would recommend VPNExpress to others.

This has been a wonderful app, until recently. It is not allowing the user to login to their account and continues to give an error message. Where is the update with the bug fix?

For non-tekkies this is an easy to use reliable connection for all your iOS devices up to iOS 9. Very pleased. Not as expensive as it looks if you use the trial and dig around for your best option based on your planned use. Rewards of data are great!!

I have used VPNExpress for more than a year with very few problems. I repurposed VPNExpress a few a days ago and it is not working at all. I have deleted and reinstalled VPNExpress several times without success, also tried manual installation without success. Tried unsuccessfully for a refund. So needless to say I am extremely disappointed in VPNExpress as well as not being able to get a refund. I would NOT recommend VPNExpress to anyone.

I hardly if ever write reviews for apps. This one deserves it though. Downloaded this on recommendations from several colleagues who travel worldwide like I do. App has worked seamlessly and flawlessly since I downloaded it. The daily giveaways are excellent as well. Keep up the great work.
