It's great for finding trails

This is my favorite app. I travel for work, and I throw my bike car to travel with me. Every time I get some free time, I use the "Nearby Trails" function. It finds all the nearby trails and you can read the reviews. Once you pick one, the "Directions to Trail" function opens your map and navigates you right to the trailhead. You can earn "badges" for trying new trails ( using the check-in function), which has been a fun motivation for exploring new trails. My brother in law and I are having a check-in challenge to see who gets the most this year. I'm a premium member of the website, so I can open trail maps from my phone too. Generally I don't need the maps, but it is nice to have. The trail listings are way more complete than anything else I've used (this may be a Midwest US phenomenon, maybe the other apps are good in other regions)

I'm not sure why all the low ratings. I also had a log in issue, but I contacted tech support and they had it fixed in a day.

Was lame, now AWESOME !!!

As a big fan of mountain biking AND my iPhone, I was pretty happy to see the Singletracks app. In all honesty, though, previous version 0.9 was something of a letdown, and wasn't very useful to me. On the other hand, patience pays off! The new version 1.0 is FANTASTIC, and not only what I had originally hoped for, but more. It's super easy to find trails wherever I am (home or away), and to access pics and maps. Also, I really like being able to get the blog (in an easy to read fashion) from SingletracksLite .

Great job, Singletracks! Keep it up. Please bring us an iPad version so we can better study trail maps in between rides!

Love the idea, but app needs work.

Great for finding trails nearby, reviews are good, and photos too. But, would like to see:

- Smaller font option so more text can be seen on the screen (trail results window especially).
- better filter options on search results. Instead of just an open search field, what about search by trail length, highest rating, etc.
- sometimes the trail entrance address is good for driving directions but it would be nice to have a section that included more information on parking and actual drop in location as sometimes these are not well marked.

Pretty Good

I like SingletracksLite , it's a very good idea. SingletracksLite is a bit slow but other than that it's very nice. I wish some how you could save the mtb trails you have visited in a favorites list or something instead of having to look them up each time. Also in most of the trails I look up I wish there were more reviews and pictures but that isn't the apps fault its just that not many people visit the trails. Overall it's a neat, little, smart app with a nice pricetag!

Getting better!

SingletracksLite was slow and a little buggy when I first got it, but with the newest update it runs way smoother! Definitely a significant improvement! SingletracksLite seems to run faster now, and I noticed the "Directions" feature goes right into the Yahoo Maps, rather than having to copy an address or coordinates into it manually. Can't wait to see this grow in popularity! Get SingletracksLite and join the cause!

Wonderful app

Gives me all the information I need to know about any trail that in about to or has already visited. Very helpful in providing accurate direction and addresses. Always on point when it comes to skill lesson on certain trails.
I've told all my friends about SingletracksLite as well as the website. Thanks single track

Enjoy your ride folks.

Love the info, don't love the app

Hate to write a bad review, but there were two bugs I noticed right away that were pretty annoying.

The first was when reading a review, I would hit Back to get out of it. Then when I wanted to hit Back again to view the list of trails for the state, it instead threw me Back to the last review I was reading. I then had to go all the way back to the home screen and then browse all the way back to it.

The other bug is a little more worrisome. After using SingletracksLite just to check some trail reviews, i put my phone back in my pocket. A few minutes later, my leg started to get pretty warm. I then noticed the GPS was still in use. Did a close of the application and it stopped the GPS.

I am using iPhone 4S. Hopefully these bugs get worked out because I love all of the info in it so far.

Great to find new trails!

Ive used the site for a while now but just recently started using SingletracksLite . I've already found a few new trails both in my area and in some areas where I stay when I go out of town. Directions are fairly accurate as well. All around great app

Clunky, but it does work

As a previous reviewer stated, SingletracksLite is kinda clunky: map zooming is a little weird; going from a trail then back to the map shows the default map, rather than the map you were viewing before... However, SingletracksLite does work fine. I just installed it (Sept 6, 2010) on my iPhone 4, and it does what it says it does. It's similar in concept to SingletracksLite called "Mountain Bike Trails", which is nicer but non-free.

Directions to trails are terrible

I just scanned through a few local trails that I'm familiar with, and tested the "turn by turn" directions. Actually, all that does is feed an address to the Maps app (which is great, since it's familiar). The problem is that the addresses to the trailheads are off by MILES. On one, in particular, it put me in a completely different city.

Useless for exploring new trails. Fine for leaving comments on familiar trails. Kinda misses the point.

Could be awesome

But the back button takes you into a loop of just the pages you've viewed with the current trail. You can't get back to the main list you just searched, such as by state, without hitting the home button and starting the search all over. If this were fixed it would be way more useful. As it is, it's annoying.

Great resource

One bug I found is when you go into a review while reading about a trail, pressing back button will get out of the review and to the trail info, but another back button press will jump back into the reviews instead of to the main search that shows all the trails in a state.

Needs updating

SingletracksLite seems like an after thought. It really needs to have full functions for your profile and uploading photos. It really reminds me of a site that was not built for mobile use. I hardly use a computer anymore and to have full functionality on my iPhone and iPad would be great.

Get "Mountain Bike Trails" instead!

I was expecting so much more from the SingleTracks team. SingletracksLite is a bad ripoff of Mountain Bike Trails. It's nearly unusable on my 4G. Very clunky, slow, and the interface needs to be a little more intuitive.

I recommend that you do the same thing Mountain Bike Trails does with their home screen: Show all the local trails on one screen immediately.

Also, it would be nice if you could have a trail map and more images. The Mountain Bike Trails app takes you to a site called TrailFu, which has had a few trail maps that I REALLY needed on occasion.

Lastly, I recommend a better UI for your gear review area. There's no search tool.

Nice try, but I expect SO MUCH more from you guys. Especially since SingleTracks is a pay site.

Great app for all MTn bikers!

SingletracksLite shows all the good trails in my area and even some I didn't know about. It has lead me to some extremely fun trails and you can chat with other riders about any trail. Definitely a must have app for MTn bikers!!
