DB Navigator Reviews

I use the DB app almost every other week in my travels to my partner’s apartment in the Netherlands. DBNavigator consistently lets me get tickets on the go, has access to all web features, let’s me pick my seat (which most others don’t), and if there is a delay shows me the next best options to get to my destination. It also shows all the time tables in the Netherlands as well which is convenient. I also love that my bahn card is stored within DBNavigator . They really thought of everything!

There is a 30 second timeout to make it all the way through the ticket selection and purchase pages. I can do this with maybe a few seconds to spare on WiFi but only once ever had it work on cellular. I’d HIGHLY recommend this be increased to 120 seconds. I think even Ticketmaster gives you far longer than 120 seconds.

The worst experience. We had first class tickets from Germany to Italy on an EC. Tried to change to an earlier train. Apparently DBNavigator allows to change “seats” to a different train, but not actual trains! So we ended up with seats on the earlier train and no actual train ticket. DBNavigator needs to be a lot more clear about such distinctions. The conductor could do nothing to help except sell us second set of tickets with no seats. Another problem - why can’t DBNavigator show us where free seats are so we can reserve seats. Even conductor’s app could not show free seats so we and luggage were tossed from seat to seat for the next three hours.

DBNavigator is overall usable but there are bugs from time to time.

You can only book a ticket for yourself with DBNavigator. None of the DB policies are spelled out in DBNavigator . You either have to know them or you read them after you buy your ticket. For example, you need to bring the credit card with you that you used to book your ticket.

As long as you're familiar with Deutsche Bahn, DBNavigator can be convenient. But if you are not familiar with DB policies, better to book your ticket on the website.

Normally I love DBNavigator , but recently I’ve noticed some problems with it. It tells me I must update my BahnCard but it didn’t tell me how. I googled it, and whenever I swipe down on the screen in the BahnCard section of DBNavigator like I’m apparently supposed to, I get a notification that I‘m blocked from accessing my account for half an hour because I’ve tried multiple times to unsuccessfully log in. And the BahnCard still isn’t updated.

DBNavigator hasn’t capacity to say the ticket that you are buying is for train totally full, no place for.
You get the message like something fail in app and you can try many times no success. And when you call the DB number you wait, wait and wait for an free agent that never happen. Pls change your IT team. And I gave 1 star because DBNavigator did not permit send with zero star. Another thing is myself can not do 2 rewiews without change the nickname, ridiculous

Evert time there is a Problem with a train DBNavigator doesn’t give up to date information. I don’t know how many time I got a message from DBNavigator thanking me for traveling with the dB and where to exit, but the train was canceled or heavily delayed and I was still far away from my destination. So it’s good for booking tickets but it’s totally unreliable for any information out of the ordinary. And out of the ordinary seems to be the new standard for the dB.

DBNavigator is frequently unreliable. Many times, I have tried to obtain information or purchase a ticket and it times out. DBNavigator tells me to check my Internet connection, but the connection is perfectly fine.

Many times, the purchase has actually gone through, but the ticket doesn’t load. If I try to add the ticket manually, it still times out. This is TOTALLY frustrating.

Be careful with DBNavigator. It doesn’t time out all of the time, not even most of the time, but always at the worst time.

There shouldn’t be an option to buy the train ticket on a train in one week if it’s only possible to sell immediate tickets. Honestly very upset because of this and they won’t give a refund either so I’m guessing they know about their little set up “trap”. (Scammers!) Very rude customer service, too. Hung up on me without saying goodbye or anything. And yes, after buying the tickets I saw the joke of a “warning label”. No bold letters, not red or anything. Just a light yellow box with a little “!”. Either give people refunds OR CHANGE DBNavigator . TOO CONFUSING.

On the first step one can choose the date of travel and how many travelers but at the final step I was only sold one ticket and for the currant date, valid fur 2 hours ! And it’s non-refundable!

Very strange app. Maybe it helps to be German but why ask for the travel date and number of travelers when it only sells immediate use single tickets? Could a German person out there explain this to me?

They refuse to offer a refund so they clearly know they have a deceptive product and simply hope to profit from people’s mistakes.

This is a stellar app: it gives you all train times for all of Germany; let’s you book directly, and save a bahn card on it too. It’s fully in English as well.

The only tricky thing is that you can’t book a ticket for your dog. Otherwise, it’s perfect!

DBNavigator would be perfect if they posted train delays more real time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve only found out about a train delay at the station vs DBNavigator . Come on people, it’s 2022…. You can do this!!

I had to buy ticket for my friend. I tried to register ticket for my friend, but at the end ticket was on my name. Application has edit button but If you try does not work. It says that for editing you need to cancel and rebook. At the end you realize that cancellation is not allowed. It needs quite lots of time to finally realize that you lost your money. Very disappointing

Needs a lot of work. not intuitive. Have had many problems buying tickets, nit getting confirmation and having to have credit card company dispute the transaction. Unable to buy local 4er tkt without validating all tkts at same time. Bahncard nearly impossible to figure out... I use the train a lot and DBNavigator well does the job of buying you a single ticket, besides that, DBNavigator needs a complete overhaul.

I hate that they keep deleting my review.

This is a useful app for ordering train tickets and searching for connections in Germany, also sends tickets directly to Apple Wallet, and makes calendar entries.
* The usage is fairly complicated because you may have to repeatedly confirm and select all kinds of things.
* Careful when you purchase tickets, if you ever purchased tickets for multiple people, you have to manually delete passengers every time in the future from now on or be charged extra.
* The Apple Watch app is not useful. The BahnCard is not sent to Apple Wallet and not available on the Apple Watch.

Why can I not buy two tickets at once for myself and another passenger? But! You can add multiple travelers at the beginning of your search. DBNavigator also reset my searches and lost everything during checkout. 🙄 please hire an iOS UX team! Additionally the placement of the back buttons are confusingly within the pages and not on the iOS nav area.

Widely used. Inferior to web-for-computer app by Dtld VVM re locating addresses - DBahn app is blind to certain standard street addresses. Conversely, DBahn shows a route map , which is a huge positive. But it does not offer a view of a whole bus route, nor display bus route #s at each stop on an area map. Big disadvantages. So, better for intercity (trains) than local buses & trams.

It has warned me about a lot of trains that get canceled when I’m using DBNavigator . And being able to buy tickets in the last minute.

I’ve found DBNavigator to be very useful and helpful. Have checked timing and bought multi stop tickets without finding issues. Intuitive and straightforward.

The schedule is ok but needs to give updates on any changes quicker!

I’m amazed that this exists on DBNavigator Store as is. I don’t expect much from a train app but how did they manage to screw up the booking workflow such that it completely starts over if you switch apps? The best part of this is that some of the payment methods involve, wait for it, switching apps. Dear god, 300k employees and not one even tested this? Humankind is truly doomed. And I still don’t have my train ticket!
