Stop being so insular

RingGo is insulting to non-uk visitors and has been for a long time. Any time someone complains on RingGo Store, there is just a stock answer that the process is slightly different and users should use the Live Chat. Same answer from the developer again and again as if that is a magic answer when it is anything but (and I’ll bet this review gets one just like it) To top it all, there IS NO Live Chat!! There is only an exceptionally feeble chat bot which never answers real questions. It only spews out predefined answers to questions that are already answered elsewhere on the website.

The fact that the same review slam consistently keeps coming up on RingGo Store indicates that this app and EasyPark know this and won’t fix it. All this app would have to do (if they are indeed being truthful, which the information hiding seems to indicate that they are not) is to describe the registration process for non-UK customers on their website or on RingGo page. The PayByPhone app from their competitors is much better and far more customer friendly.

Cities and towns looking for a parking system would be well advised to stay away from RingGo as it makes municipalities look like they don’t care about tourism.

Does Not Support non UK users

I gave it 1 star as I could not give it zero stars. RingGo does not allow registration with a mobile phone number that is not a UK phone number. I am from the USA and no matter how I entered my phone number, with +1 or 011 prefix or none at all, it would not accept my registration. Also, trying to pay by calling the phone number was unsuccessful after trying a couple of times. To make matters worse, the terminal at the car park only takes coins, no bills or credit cards, and even at that would not accept some coins. Definitely an antiquated system to pay for parking.

Useless

What a hopeless app. Won’t send an international SMS, so we can’t register on RingGo , so we can’t use the carpark. Tried the alternative phone service - even worse - couldn’t recognize any of the car details across four different phone calls, spoken by three different people - all native English speakers visiting the UK. Line then just disconnects. No option to speak to anyone. What a joke of a service.

Doesn’t work for travelers

Sorry but RingGo is useless. Have tried countless times to set up an account, reset password, and it doesn’t work. As many others have said, great if you’re a local. Terrible if you’re traveling and have a US number or an “accent.” And given that most car parks are paid in the UK, would be nice to have seamless solution that works for all. Anyone out there wanna create a better parking app?

Not from UK… Not for you

RingGo will not work for SMS messages with cell numbers from outside of the UK. You will never be able to fully register in order to use the application.

Even worse was the number to “pay by phone”. The automated voice puts you into a round robbin asking the same questions on repeat without any live person available for help.

Do not be like me and waste so much time trying to get this to work.

Useless to non-UK customers

At present, RingGo requires a UK phone number in order to register / activate one’s account. So, if you happen to be a foreigner needing to park in one of the many zones where this app is your only option (other than using coins…), you will be solidly out of luck

Why are municipalities allowing this app to have a monopoly on parking and not, at the very least, requiring them to allow non-UK customers to register? I suspect that there is a significant amount of revenue being lost because of this very odd quirk.

Why Register For An Account

Traveled to Scotland from the U.S. and saw what I thought was a convenient app for parking in the city, however because you need register for an account and it doesn’t have a guest option it requires verification to be sent via an SMS notification. Seems easy unless you don’t get the verification. I also tried a work around registering my car via voice and that was equally as frustrating. The results, wasted time while on vacation and going to currency exchanges for coins, along with a few parking tickets.

Really‽

Ah, the Ringo Parking app! You know, seeing that shimmering 4-star rating out of a half a million reviews truly gives me hope in magic. After all, every other review platform out there consistently rates it a solid 1 star. Maybe Apple's review system has its own secret fairy dust? Or perhaps they're just *super* generous? 🤷

International travellers be warned: If your phone number doesn't have the privilege of being from the UK, you're in for a fun game of 'Not Accepted Here'. But even if you are one of the lucky ones with a UK number, brace yourself! You'll enter a world where confirmation texts play hide and seek. But worry not, because if you're persistent and request the text again, RingGo 's courteous enough to inform you that you've hit your text limit. Just after one request! Efficiency at its finest, don't you think?

And if by some divine intervention, you think, "Oh, I'll just pay by phone!" Well, let’s play another game called “Guess the Real Number”, because the one displayed just leads to the Bermuda Triangle of recorded messages. But wait, there's more fun to be had! Once you find the *real* number, do expect some existential questions like, "What's a Volvo?"

And my absolute favourite part? Their tagline: "Pay for parking in seconds". Makes you wonder which seconds they're talking about, right? Maybe they mean seconds in an alternate dimension? The possibilities are endless! Happy parking (or attempting to), folks! 🚗🌌

Zero support for USA mobile and no support

This service was available at many parking areas we visited in Grear Britain, which would have been great since paying by credit card at the lot machines sometimes doesnt work. However, we could not get their app to register a mobile phone based in the United States. Tried all kinds of syntax for the number and it failed. Their support email reply was a formulaic request for account details. Which we didnt have. Because their software would not let us register. Being in the UK 10/10. Fighting with parking meters 0/10. 😭.

App is made by racists

Or regards. Replace the g with a t to understand my meaning. If you’re not from the UK just give up. It won’t accept a non-UK mobile number. Even the Reddit work around of selecting land line on the website to create an account and then use that to login to RingGo design work. So here I am in In a major UK city with loads of tourists from the around the world. And you have to use it to park (or carry loads of change). Honestly, it just makes the UK look bad. It’s one thing if some random app for guided tours doesn’t work but it’s a whole other thing if you can park. There’s absolutely zero excuse for this. Fix your app you complete regards.

Clunky, useless

Clunky app with miserable user interface. You can’t purchase multiple parking permits at once with the same card. So if you have several friends or family visiting, you need to use a separate card or account for each. Miserably labyrinthine menus to purchase a permit. Very easy to make small mistakes and pay too much. No way to just pick a start and end time for parking. Instead it’s handled in increments of minutes. So if you want to park from 12 to 4, you need to figure that it’s 240 minutes and then hope that RingGo won’t change the times or dates “helpfully” for you. Just in general one of the worst apps ever made. I’m furious that Islington forces us to use RingGo to purchase permits.

Doesn’t work

We tried using RingGo to park in Glasgow, Scotland, to visit the cathedral and necropolis on a rare sunny morning. No luck. We couldn’t even register, much less pay for parking, as our registration texts never arrived.

We then tried calling the related phone number and using the automated system, and that didn’t work, either. We finally gave up and left Glasgow early to sightsee in Edinburgh instead. It was a pity, as we really wanted to see both the cathedral and the necropolis (and there were tons of available spaces in the parking lots), but we didn’t want to chance a 60-pound ticket for parking without paying.

I wonder how much money the city of Glasgow is losing each quarter because this parking system doesn’t work. Unfortunate for all involved.

Tourists BEWARE.

RingGo is not designed to work with non-UK numbers.

Tried RingGo to register a UK vehicle while trying to park in Glasgow. The city is 100% paid parking EVERYWHERE except from 6pm to 8am. The charge to park is £32 a day in zones with the blue “P” sign. However, most of the terminals are from the 80’s and look like the computers from that decade and don’t accept cards. I repeat, you must carry pocketfuls of change (£32 worth = 32, 1-pound coins) or you can use this this app app.

RingGo won’t send a verification text to a non-UK phone number (mine’s U.S.) nor from RingGo , nor from the website. You have to call the phone number and use an automated system to speak your car details into the phone. This failed for me several times because of how I pronounce the letter “Z.” In the UK you pronounce this letter as “Zed.” So thankful I’ve traveled throughout Europe and had heard this before. If not, I’d be depositing coins EVERY 3 HOURS. Because this is the maximum hours you can pay for at once.

RingGo is trash. The system is trash. And their automated website is trash. Please cease to be a business and allow another more efficient and tourist-friendly app to replace you!

For UK Only

I have no doubt that this service is excellent for people who live in the UK and have UK phone numbers. If you’re a tourist or a student living abroad however (like myself) then this service is useless. It is the most predatory creation I have ever had the displeasure of using. It will not accept any number but a UK number. If you don’t have a UK number, then you’re out of luck and will be forced to pay a £100 fine or risk getting towed. The only reason I was able to make this heinous invention work is because my girlfriend is British and let me use her number. If you’re a foreigner and are at a this app parking lot, go somwhere else. They will not have you, and given their practices it seems they don’t want you either. You’d be better served just driving your car to the pound yourself and sparing the extra towing fine.

Unusable if you don’t have a British mobile and voice recognition is worthless

We didn’t have enough coins for the kiosk and the kiosk doesn’t take credit cards. So we downloaded RingGo . But to register, it wants to send a confirmation SMS. The file doesn’t handle “+” and no way to force it to send an SMS to an American phone, so no way to register which makes RingGo worthless.

Okay, I’ll call the help number which takes me to a voice recognition process to pay. I call six times at two different listed numbers. Never succeeded. Four times, it accepted my car tag. Three times it couldn’t understand “Toyota” when it got the the car make. Once, it couldn’t understand my tags, and once it just got stuck at the beginning. Sure, I have an American accent, but it’s not even a hard to understand one like a Boston accent. We found another place to park.

Good but faulty when on critical bits

Generally speaking a great app but then let’s you down on critical parts - app doesn‘t tell you before selecting the parking time that some locations don‘t allow renewal/extension. Yet you get a reminder to renew 10 min before expire time only to be then told that it can‘t be renewed and let’s you stuck in the location when it could and SHOULD have told you that in advance when selecting the parking time.

Customer service quite lousy - I wrote three times to customer service highlighting this point and suggesting this amendment and they never acknowledged the shortcomings of RingGo on this point. (Mr ROB please address the issues people raise and suggestions they feel are important for this otherwise to become even better instead of not even acknowledging it and ensuring this is past on. I am sure your employer will also appreciate that instead of just ignoring addressing it. Thanks

Ok, but doesn’t work correctly all the time.

Works well most of the time but there are times that it only allows me to pay me one set price that is incorrect for day and time. For example I wanted to pay for two hours on a Sunday and that should cost around £2. It charged me for 7 days and £9 because no other charge option was available....

Americans, get this

We LOVED having RingGo. Helped us to keep walking and loving our time without worrying about an abroad ticket! Easy once you’re on WiFi or international day pass via your cell carrier. Best app I downloaded while here!

Quick and easy - paying for parking is a breeze

RingGo is easy and convenient to use. Highly recommend to use in Brent and Camden.

Really useful

Machines often don’t work and you often don’t have change. Super convenient

Unreliable app and unfair payment system This service is terrible. The app doesn’t work – I tried registering and resetting my password but never received any code or email. At Saxon Square, cash is not a real option either: I had to pay £2 because the machine doesn’t give change, even though the fee was only £1.40. This is basically forcing people to overpay if the app fails. Unreliable, unfair, and very frustrating.
