App Not Responding

Installed app. Verified internet connection to genset with On-Cue Plus. New app says “Application is not responding” Called “support”, very UN-helpful…she kept saying “You must not have internet connection to generator” even tho I explained I had just connected with On-Cue Plus. How about admitting KOHLEREnergyManagement is crappy and just doesn’t work instead of repeating some nonsense script? Very disappointed

Will not migrate from on cue

Get to the add generator from on cue option.. but when enter my on cue ID and password.. get the error msg “no device for import”.. I can still log into on cue plus..

Completely useless

Just about all it tells you is if the generator is running, which I already know because I can hear it running.

Went from OnCue Plus which had some useful stats about the generator to something completely useless. Dev team must have hired from Sonos…

Awful

App showing generator offline and can’t get it to connect
I will need to pay for a service call because KOHLEREnergyManagement is awful
Forced to charge to new app as they discontinued old app which worked fine
Anyone smell a cash grab?

Looses login

I replaced my OnCue app with KOHLEREnergyManagement. At first it appeared to work but after logging out and trying to login it would not accept my credentials. There is no support to go to for reporting the problem or getting help

Horrible

One of the worst apps for customers I have ever seen. Totally not user friendly.

Notifications missing

So far I have not received notifications for weekly test. I do have notifications turned on on my iPhone and iPad. I bought this generator because it had email notifications. My understanding is there will no longer be emailed notifications. One wonders what people without smart phones will do. I see no reason why they cannot provide email notifications.

Not quite there

I kinda liked the “Stop Exercise” button.
Maybe it’s there… somewhere and I missed it.
KOHLEREnergyManagement does tell me the generator is unable to operate in exercise mode. Too bad that message appears while it’s actually running in exercise mode.
It looks like the sole purpose of this new app is to indemnify Kohler for people doing dumb things when they start the genset.

Data Did Not Update, And Exercise Function Will Not Work!

Followed the directions to migrate my generator over from OnCue, as prompted. The new app did find the generator, and bring it over to the new platform, but NONE of the generator or controller data (including controller timeclock) has updated since, and I am UNABLE to initiate an exercise!

Kami 2019

I’ve tried numerous times to log on to the new app but nothing works on my iPhone what is the problem

Unreliable push notifications

KOHLEREnergyManagement is terrible and a huge downgrade. I am not reliably getting push notifications from KOHLEREnergyManagement, I can no longer get emails, and when I open KOHLEREnergyManagement the generator status is often wrong and takes many seconds to update. This is really disappointing.

Awful app

KOHLEREnergyManagement should be updated to give the user standard ability to change email and start notifications. The was released way to soon. It should at least do everything that the OnCue app does. There is not functioning notifications and can’t edit your profile.
I see it is just a way to save money, I tried to change the test cycle and it didn’t work either. So let’s hope there is a major upgrade in the very soon future before they retire OnCue.

What is Okta??

Installed OnCue wireless connectivity system on brand new 26KW generator. Connection set up on first try. Downloaded new “Kohler Energy Management” app to replace OnCue app. Got signed in and have watched 2 excercise cycles and also remotely started and stopped to ensure all worked fine during hurricane season. Today, I opened KOHLEREnergyManagement and a pop up window was requiring me to use something called OKTA with a bizarre email address I’ve never seen!! What the heck is OKTA? I had everything working and now can’t get past the login screen!!!

Totally Useless App

The previous incarnation of Kohler’s generator but most confusing, but they replaced it with a much dumber app, that removes whatever limited control the previous one offered, removed your text notifications and only kept the confusing in-app notices that only a generator engineer can understand.
Find a different brand of generators that is more consumer friendly.

What are you doing?!

As the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!” True the OnCue Plus app was dated. So what, it worked! This new app looks modern but doesn’t perform.
1) PUSH NOTIFICATIONS. We need a way to know if our generator is currently deployed during a power outage when we are away.
2) REMOTE OPERATIONS
We need to be able to start and stop our generators at will.
3) ABILITY TO DELETE OLD MESSAGES within KOHLEREnergyManagement .
4) FIRMWARE UPDATES. These should happen through the Cat6 cable via the internet permitted by KOHLEREnergyManagement .
5) TIME. Time and Date changes should happen through KOHLEREnergyManagement .
Did we pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a sub-standard product?!
If asked today if I would recommend Kohler Standby Generators to someone I would probably say, no.
Sincerely, Dissatisfied.

Old app was much better

Terrible app. Other people have said why, so I’m not going to reiterate, but this should’ve been made much better than the old OnCue app, if it was going to replace it. I can’t clear out notifications in KOHLEREnergyManagement. I can’t start my generator from KOHLEREnergyManagement. I can’t do all the things I used to be able to. Make KOHLEREnergyManagement better.

Major step backwards

This new version of KOHLEREnergyManagement , left out all the important running parameters. You can no longer see coolant temp, oil temp, RPM, generator load information. Even email notifications have been removed! Major step backwards. I was told OnCue plus will stop working before the end of the year.

Horrific downgrade in functionality

As usual, Kohler continues to dumb down the functionality of its generator management software. Can’t stop a manually executed exercise. Visual indication of operational status is unclear. Interface is bland. Notifications not working. Email notifications no longer provided, which was a great feature.

Downgrade from OnCue App

Kohler needs to reinstate the favorite parameters so that the owner can monitor the generator while it’s running an exercise.
KOHLEREnergyManagement is harder to navigate. The home screen could show more like the old app did. Not impressed with the new version. Transfers from old app is good.

A step backwards

This new app is a step in the wrong direction. With OnCue I was able to view all of the vital generator parameters while it was running which made it easy to keep an eye on things. That functionality has been lost with the new app. Hopefully it’s an update away.

A Step Backwards

KOHLEREnergyManagement is definitely a step backwards. None of the vital information is present. Hopefully there will be an update which will add this data back into KOHLEREnergyManagement . Kohler was just bought out by a private equity group which explains both the change and the downgrade.

Notifications

I downloaded and logged into the new Energy Management App and installed my existing generator very easily.
BUT…. KOHLEREnergyManagement does not notify me when the generator is running even on the weekly test cycle. On Cue notifies me any time my generator is running which also lets me know when the utility power is off. I am away during the winter months and this is a necessity.
Also, I don’t see anywhere that I can see how many running hours are on my unit, again, as On Cur does.
One more thing, I turned my generator on via the new App but there was no where to turn it off. I had to go to On Cue to do this.
I certainly hope these “ glitches “ are being addressed and correct.
One of many reasons I purchased a Kohler generator was how great On Cue was keeping me informed of virtually on my unit.
Please do not disable OnCue until these issues are resolved.
Thank you,
DO

Significant loss of functionality

Like all previous reviewers, I find the loss of engine status information in the new app to be a significant loss. The loss of this status information will cause a significant hardship during a power outage, especially one caused by or during a severe storm , due to our serious mobility limitations. I found oncue to be unreliable because the generator repeatedly dropped off line, even with a wired connection, and getting it back online required a manual reboot which was very difficult for us to do. While I hope that KOHLEREnergyManagement will stay on line better than OnCue, the loss of status information causes another big problem. We got the generator to make sure medical equipment would continue to run during a power outage. I feel less secure with KOHLEREnergyManagement than I did with OnCue.

Nothing Exciting

Mediocre App.

Okta???

This does not give professional vibes:

"homeowner_app" Wants to Use "okta.com" to Sign In This allows KOHLEREnergyManagement and website to share information about you.

Missing Features

KOHLEREnergyManagement is missing the generator temp, controller temp, engine RPM and voltage at the winding. I used this to monitor when it was running. I feel like this new application is lacking more than the old OnCue application. Yes, KOHLEREnergyManagement looks sexy and such but without this information it really doesn’t help much. Is there a way to view this information in the new app? Frustrated customer!

Another app mistake

As the other reviews have stated, Forcing everyone to switch over to this new version without giving us the information needed to monitor a generator, such as oil pressure, battery voltage, engine temperatures etc. Another Kohler failure! The only reason it’s 3 stars as KOHLEREnergyManagement was easy to connect to my generator. We’ll see if it stays connected. I’ll update in a few months.

Vs OnCue

So far this new app falls short of the features that OnCue provided. I can no longer see the oil temperature, controller temperature, output voltage, output frequency and total controller hours to list a few data points. These are all data points that are available (and were displayed in OnCue) but for some reason are now hidden from the user. This data is especially important to monitor during a prolonged power outage. I can only hope that this is just the first stab at KOHLEREnergyManagement and they’ll come back and add these features soon. Otherwise this is a big step in the wrong direction.

Suggestions for improvement

Good afternoon, please make the following updates to App.
1. Bring back notifications.
2. Bring back ability to change controller clock time. Time change is coming up in November.
3. Bring back facial ID for login.
4. Remote start & stop for exercise is confusing/ nonfunctional. Unsure how to stop a exercise from KOHLEREnergyManagement .
Thank you..

Not as good as on cue

You need to bring back the information that on cue gave us,because KOHLEREnergyManagement is not a improvement.
Not being able to manually start the exercise test is also needed to be re installed.
On cue was great compared to this new one.
JTS

App still needs to add notifications when power is out and when the exercising is started and finish.
I got no notification when the generator started and ended it exercising.
I did not get any notification when I lost power or when it came back on.

Latest version addresses many previous concerns

I just downloaded the new app. Previous reviewers complained that several key generator parameters were missing in the initial release, and the latest version appears to now display that information. Overall KOHLEREnergyManagement seems to have similar functionality to OnCue but with a more modern-looking user interface. Would be nice to include contact info for service provider and quick links to email and/or phone numbers.

Parameters available now in v 1.2.2

Previous reviews pointed out that essential parameters such as oil temperature (critical here in the north) were not available and hoped that a future release would include them. I downloaded version 1.2.2 and every parameter I wanted is now available. My only complaints are that the instructions are a bit misleading but you get the gist eventually, and it would not allow me to use my true address rather than the almost-correct address it “suggested”.

Not too bad

Just updated from On Cue and it went smooth. Very happy to see engine parameters available. There does seem to be an issue with oil pressure. KOHLEREnergyManagement says 0psi even when running but the controller shows the real number.

Everything else seems to be working.

It works and does what I need

I have a very new Kohler 26RCA with only 3.5 hours on it. However , per KOHLEREnergyManagement the GenSet has 1,371.7 hours. I don’t know if this discrepancy will create any issues in the future. But it seems like reporting the operating hours would be an easy thing to do…

Good responsiveness from developers

Updating my review: with the reintroduction of the monitored parameters KOHLEREnergyManagement is now just fine. Good on Kohler for getting those added back in quickly.

Exercise cycle missing

The Every other week exercise cycle is missing. I am
From North Central Nebraska.
I use the weekly exercise cycle from November 1 thru April
31st.. this is the greatest risk for power outage.. the other months I use every other Week exercise. My lowest risk for power outage.

Seems like a good replacement, we like it!

Easy switch, be sure you have your OnCue user name & password handy, will make the transition seamless. I moved to an Apple login & that made it very easy! Recommended….

New App Same Data

Mostly same data as the One Cue Plus app just added a new look and faster performance. It does run on MacBook Air which is a plus! Thanks for that upgrade.

Magical

See now we are at a great baseline of a like for like app that is replacing oncue. Keep up the good work and show us how much better you are than generac.

The latest update (version 1.2.2) should satisfy most users

With the latest update, the addition of generator, controller, and engine data makes this a very useful app for monitoring generator operation. The interface is well organized and easy to navigate. Creating an account and transferring generator info from OnCue Plus was also very easy.

The only change I would suggest is to rename Generator Profile to Generator Data, this this is where power, voltage, and frequency are displayed.

You loose lot of information

No information for the motor RPM / Temp / etc etc that the OnCue Plus had. They need to modify this application to show all that important information.

Edit 20/Sep. they added all the missing information

No problems with switch over.

We have 200k commercial Gen. We not have been able to change any settings til about two weeks ago since beginning of Aug. No problems with transfer of account and just a quick reset of the Generator and all was good to go.

Latest update makes it pretty great

I can confirm that at first it was indeed a downgrade from OnCue, with loads of missing features, mainly in the generator status category. However, that seems to have been quickly remedied; I’m hard pressed to find any status info missing. No complaints at all! Thanks for the speedy update!
