So I tried to cancel my appointment that was scheduled for a Saturday at 1pm. I put in the request but didn’t hear from anyone regarding it. So Saturday at 12:45p I get ready for my appointment, log into BrightsideHealth and wait. Nothing no call/text nothing from anyone. I waited until 1:45p for someone to connect with me and no one ever did. I ended up getting a notification that my credit card was charged $70 for a missed appointment. I called customer support to explain that I messaged to cancel and no one got back to me so I cancelled my dr appointment I had and stayed home to have my appointment and nothing, the lady pretty much said there is nothing she can do for me. I had almost $80 to my name for the next two weeks and because of this I now have no money left for gas/food. This would have been my very first visit. So I’m thinking this place is a scam. I would not recommend to anyone. If they miss an appointment with us, we are still charged a miss appointment fee which is absolutely terrible. Stay away!

Extremely disappointed in this company. If you vent about any legal issues happening in your personal life, be prepared for them to drop you as a client abruptly and with minimal explanation. They want to refer me to another facility who can better “handle my needs” but that seems like lies and excuses as I haven’t even been a client for a full month yet. Seems like they just don’t want the very SLIM possibility of being involved in any legal issues. Signing up for this service has done more harm than good and I sincerely regret seeking therapy. Never again will I trust someone enough to open up about the things Ive been through. Very sad and a major setback for me.
Also, why is there a monthly payment plan if they’re going to charge hundreds and hundreds of dollars to my account? What does the plan include?!?! Looked over the charges to my insurance and well over $1000 worth of charges in less than a month and I’m more damaged now than when I started. Make it make sense.

Really dissapointed. I’ve always been aware and have heard of psych doctors not acknowledging BPD as something separate from bipolar diagnosis but didn’t expect to find it on such a well thought out and accommodating platform. I have gone through extensive testing and treatment for a clear diagnosis of BPD only to be met with a doctor (was she a doctor?) who in 30 min tried to diagnose me with bipolar disorder. I have BPD and not bipolar, they are similar but so different and deserve a voice. I witnessed in questioning her trying to sway me in the ways of a bipolar diagnosis. I do not have it, I lived with someone with bipolar and am completely different in our behaviors and patterns. No questions were leaning towards what BPD is…only bipolar. I was within this 30 min meeting diagnosed with a completely different disorder and prescribed a completely different class of medication. This is dangerous and exactly why people are afraid of being open and honest and why we are in the state of mental health crisis we are in as a country. Pushing more medicine lining the pockets of those who do nothing for the suffering. Do better. Hire better.

So I was mostly satisfied with Brightside until they suddenly changed my provider without notifying me or giving me the option with who I would like to see. Now I understand if my provider got fired or quit or whatever that I need to change but they definitely should give you that option to select a new one who works with your schedule. The provider I was assigned was only available during the evening on Wednesdays which is unfortunate since I work 4-12 on weekdays. This is further compounded by the fact that I was charged a 50 dollar service change for “ switching providers” when they switched me and would then be charged a further 50 dollars when switching again from the provider that they assigned me that I no longer wanted. When I went in to cancel my services there are several screens that you have to click through that pressure you to stay with Brightside. This is a terrible business practice for dealing with people who have mental health issues and I hope that I have saved someone a little stress and inconvenience

so I was referred to this site based on my previous therapist and psychiatrist will be leaving the organization I was with. I had meetings with my care team and things seemed to go well. I needed to return to work and only needed a doctors note to state I’m under their care and can return with no restrictions. I have been reaching out for 2 weeks just for a note! In the portal they have read my messages yet NEVER RESPONDED. It’s now three weeks I get a reply that the psychiatrist was on vacation and tried to answer my questions yet couldn’t respond! EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD HAS WIFI EXCEPT MARS AND MR SPACE X IS WORKING ON THAT! the level of unprofessionalism is astounding. I’ve reached out to customer Susan’s they want me to wait a month to 90 days! ALL THIS OVER A MEASLY DOCTORS NOTE! I’ve requested a refund DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY!!! BEWARE!!!! I’ve complained to the bbb! Look at those complaints and you’ll learn very quickly it’s okay to take 400 a month but NO ONE RESPONDS TO YOUR NEEDS FOR THREE WEEKS!!! PLEASE FIND ANOTHER WAY TO ASSIST YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, this isn’t it here

I signed up- had a meeting with my provider- I waited 15 minutes- then she finally joined the meeting- by this time I was aggravated that she couldn’t join at the appointment time. She made no introduction- she just said “what’s going on with you today” - I had already completed assessments and questionaires- people going through things mentally have good days and bad days- “what’s going on with you today” is a horrible question after making me wait for her to join the meeting. If I am expected to join the meeting on time- is it wrong to have the same expectation for them? Maybe my time is not as important as her time is? Maybe showing up late to an appointment is the status quo. I then had an appointment with my therapist- a few days later my provider sent a message telling me she hopes I get the help I need somewhere else.
This is definitely not the type of experience I expected from a therapy providing website. The provider, Jennifer Ramsey, couldn’t be bothered to be on time, and she made me feel like she didn’t even go over the assessments I completed.
I am canceling my account with Brightside immediately and will share my experience with any and everyone who wants to hear it.
If you want to feel uncomfortable, unimportant and insignificant then Brightside is for you- if you actually want some mental healthcare, I’d advise anywhere else. I have definitely learned my lesson.

I did a deep search. Found her. Found her reviews on numerous platforms. So many saying she was a danger to psychiatric patients. So many fragile people looking for help that she harmed. CHECK OUTSIDE REVIEWS on the practitioner! Professionalism, communication, listening and comprehension skills, concern for you when you say your symptoms is nil. She asks for records you cannot get without her telling you how to get them to her. She is a dangerous person playing god with people’s mental health. The fact that she is working 3 platforms, 2 others besides Brightside, at the same time should say all you need to know. Seven employers in 3 years that I can find. This is criminal. Last I looked making a person stop 3 psychotropics abruptly at the same time is considered life threatening. She does not care. She wants records I cannot get without her telling me who and how they should be sent. I gave her all pharmacy records, that she asked for, within minutes after talking to her. She comes back and gaslights saying that doesn’t matter ? Get the other records. How? This has gone on over a month. The communication with others on BrightsideHealth is a black hole. You send their email assistance request. Crickets. Send another one? Crickets. Several hundred 1 star review here in the last couple of months RUN!
Google, check LinkedIn, check educational and professional licensing, check her references. Oh, and tell her to get off of FB.

i’m sure BrightsideHealth has been great for some people to get psychiatric help fast and affordably, but i will never use it again. the initial session with my provider was less than half the time it was supposed to be and sophia was very quick, unsympathetic, and not personable at all; very robot like. it seemed lile she didn’t care and didn’t have much of a personality. i kind of just brushed it off even though it bothered me a bit because i needed my medication. when it was time to get a refill, i had about a weeks worth left and messaged her that i’d be needing a refill. i thought id hear back or she’d just send in the request without answering me but i didn’t hear back the rest of that week. i messaged two more times the day before i ran out and still nothing. it’s so unbelievably inhumane, not to mention dangerous to give someone who is struggling mentally a medication just to take it away and force them to stop it abruptly. i ended up calling the help line and another doctor was able to send in a request for the refill. i picked it up and I'm alright now but this is completely unacceptable. she should be fired or at the very least reprimanded for putting someone’s life in danger. i will be cancelling my membership and deleting BrightsideHealth after this. i would not recommend.

I met with someone I could barely understand who only after I was in this session told me this company cannot prescribe controlled medication commonly used for psychiatric care.
Instead I was given a prescription for something I have never used before and when I explained I would not be able to quit my other medication cold turkey, and I cannot take these two together due to contraindications, their reaction was uncaring, unconcerned, and their time was up. I have since been receiving auto-generated requests to check in. I have had to go back to my previous doctor who was kind enough to develop a two month plan to help wean me off my current medication responsibly and safely.
If you cannot prescribe the full range of medications used by patients seeking help it should be noted up front before anyone signs up for your treatment.

I was SO excited to start using Brightside and I loved both of my providers. However during my initial call the call dropped and there was no way for me to rejoin or to contact my provider. I submitted a request for help in BrightsideHealth and waited the specified 72 hours for a response but got none. At this point Brightside is completely unusable to me because I cannot message my provider to even schedule an additional appointment because the call dropped so the appointment has been left marked “under review.” I am astounded that program meant to provide medical care would have such incompetent tech support and follow up such that it renders the entire program useless to users. I’m very sad to leave my provider because she was amazing before my call got cut off but I have no other choice since no one from Brightside will respond to my support requests.

The people saying BrightsideHealth is affordable have to be lying. I signed up through my insurance. After reading the disclosures, I decided to sign up. I have had approx. 3 appointments through them since joining. Mind you, when you sign up, you’re told that there’s a monthly fee. I assumed that fee would at least help with appointment pricing. It doesn’t. So again, I’ve had 3 appointments. I received my first bill the other day saying I owed a large amount for ONE appointment. Imagine the total bill for the rest of the appointments…
My therapist wasn’t terrible but I don’t think the service received was worth the money I was charged.
The customer service was “quick”, but I had to reach out twice to get a response. My plan has been canceled, but I’m so irritated. I needed help, a life boat of sorts…not more to make me feel like I’m drowning.

I could leave 0 stars, I would. What a horrible provider. It was my initial consultation. For those of us with anxiety, you know how hard it is to take the first step to schedule an appointment. This provider joined our Telehealth meeting for 2 minutes. His camera and microphone were on mute. I sent him a message on chat to let him know I was in the meeting in case he didn’t know since his mic and camera were on mute. I spoke into the microphone. He then just signed off and never rejoined. No communication thereafter. I never leave negative reviews but someone who works with people who are vulnerable really needs to do their due diligence. The appointment was for 30 minutes. I signed in and out a few times, made sure my camera and mic were enabled. He never rejoined. Nothing. I took screenshots throughout my 30 minute session as proof. I am really disappointed and do not recommend.

BrightsideHealth is the worst scam ever I have to paid out of pocket and they have a amazing website selling you plans and medication management I have been in my medications years before they were controlling substance and when you go to your provider they said you have to go to a psychiatrist and when you go to the psychiatrist they said you have to go to a provider, I have been on psychiatrist too many times and they have prescribed my medication this is not new that I’m taking it’s years I have been in does medication, this is the worst app and the worst providers ever, they have medication management and provider license in my state and they refuse to fill my prescription cause it’s subtace I mean if you have been in does medication for years before they were controlling substance and they they are and they refuse to give mines medication. It’s all propaganda and all they want to charge you and then they can’t help you.

I stayed with Brightside for 3-4 months. I loved my team so much and loved that I could finally start my mental health journey and get medicated. However, in May I had gotten mail that the psychiatrist I was with wasn’t enrolled in my insurance and I needed to switch to keep having prescriptions paid for, so I emailed support about trying to switch. A month later I finally heard back, they checked my insurance and told me I was never covered in the first place? If I wanted to keep using it (even to have one last meeting with my therapist) I needed to pay 300 dollars. I was then completely dropped that very same day. Luckily, within a couple weeks I was able to get in with a different company that ACTUALLY takes my insurance.
My brother has had similar experiences. Suddenly his therapist began cancelling all of his appointments the day of and not responding to messages on BrightsideHealth , leaving him without a support team for weeks.
Not to mention, BrightsideHealth is super broken and doesn’t function properly half of the time.

Cannot access my account. It always only shows "schedule your first appointment" and no other function works. I received an email for "time to check in" and even that it only shows
the same thing. Tried different browsers (chrome, google, safari) and it's the same thing with BrightsideHealth . It has been
the case since after my initial appt on 8/1. Highly regret using this service as it has been hindering with my treatment. I have tried deleting BrightsideHealth several times and re-installing but the problem has not resolved. My initial appt was very stressful for the same reason. Into the last minute i wasnt sure if i could make it to my appt bcos of the technical issues with your service associated to my account. I cant do anything on it except "schedule your first appointment". The back button doesn't work. Only gives me a few seconds of preview that other functions are available there but i cannot access it as the screen goes back to "schedule your first appt". Highly frustrating, considering what services BrightsideHealth is supposed to provide.

The nurse side of this worked great. We met the next day and she had been helpful. The therapy has been nonexistent. I have not met with a therapist yet. The first appt was cancelled and the rescheduled appt was for the next Monday. I log on and she cancels a second time. This one while I’m on video waiting for her. She then leaves the video session/appt open the entire session even though she cancelled. The following day I get a text message saying that I missed an different appt. I did not reschedule because I don’t want to see that therapist (not met yet anyway). I can’t schedule w another therapist because it says she has not completed notes on our session (which NEVER happened). This is beyond frustrating. Cant wait to see if they try to submit these shenanigans to my insurance for payment.
It’s hard to ask for help. Currently I can’t even ask for help again (reschedule appt) until the therapist closes notes on a session that never happened. At this point I would not recommend Brightside.

I signed up feeling so optimistic and excited about this service! I booked my first appointment and was incredibly excited about the fact that my first appointment was within a week. Within an hour I received an email saying my appointment had been canceled. I thought that was strange so I tried to book it again… again, it was cancelled without any reason. I’ve tried to schedule an appointment 5 different times on different times and dates, all showing that a provider was available and again… all cancelled within an hour of booking it. Absolutely no response from their support team. BrightsideHealth should not exist for people seeking help for anxiety and depression if it’s only causing more anxiety.
by Loser4242
The concept behind BrightsideHealth is awesome, but in practice it doesn’t work. They don’t ask the right questions during the check ins which skews the results. Primarily, whether or not you’ve actually started the medication prescribed. I reported this to the help desk and was told to answer the questions as best I could, which isn’t at all when the only options are “I’m not feeling better” or “I’m having bad side effects.” There should be a sequence for “haven’t started” that leads you to explain why. It’s annoying when I can’t actually answer the check ins appropriately and that the development doesn’t take into consideration multiple scenarios, edge case as they may be.

This was likely the worst experience I’ve had with therapy. For all of my appointments therapists/psychiatrists arrived late to the appointment, and once having lunch at the beginning of the meeting.
On top of that, I was prescribed subventine to treat my bipolar disorder, which I took for 3 wks as prescribed, but had to stop taking it abruptly
due to the psychiatrist not prescribing further medication to continue my treatment, and being unreachable.
I relapsed as a result, not a fun experience when I came to them for help. I left “treatment” worse than when I began.

If I could do zero stars, I would do so. I work for a big company, I help people on the daily, and never ever find myself leaving reviews until after my experience with Brightside. They have not answered me via phone, email, or BrightsideHealth . I was charged for appointments that my provider did not attend and also appointments I had already been paid for. I was charged (without my permission to the card I am unable to take off of my account) hundreds of dollars after discontinuing my subscription. Worst experience ever with a company. To say they want to help people is a complete lie and understatement.
by Hambonez-23
My first appointment I thought it was my internet connection so I excepted responsibility for missing the appointment. A few days later for my next appointment the Dr didn’t show, I was told I missed the appointment (I took screen shots to prove i didn’t) and I was even online early. Then you can’t send a message, support button doesn’t work, account setting doesn’t work, and I can’t figure out how to cancel this! I’m out over $100 and got no help what so ever. I worried I’m going to keep getting charged! This adds stress to your life so be careful.
by Randa329
Originally signed up for therapy, then decided to add psychiatry in order to get a second opinion. Somehow there system made my therapy appointment disappear and they have no record of it. Yet, I have the appointment confirmation emails. Then I finally see the psychiatrist for the first time and she was rude and not helpful and informed me that she’s not there for second opinions and ended the call. Now, I try to reach out to customer service in order to cancel and get a refund but they won’t contact me back.
-10/10 can’t recommend.

The medical health practitioner i was paired with showed up late to our first appointment, asked me questions coldly and showed no sympathy even when I started getting emotional about certain things. She also made a passing comment about my weight I did not appreciate. She seemed more like a pharmaceutical rep than a counselor or therapist. I was feeling incredibly vulnerable and sensitive and she was showing zero compassion, keeping it strictly business. I don’t want someone like that treating my mental health, much less prescribing me medication. Complete waste of time and money.

I’m in a situation where my insurance HAS to be used, or else the additional charges are out of my budget and something I’m uncomfortable with. Desperately wanted to use Brightside for the convenience since I work 12 hour shifts four-to-five days of the week.
The intake process kept telling me “service unavailable, contact support”, even though it said that my insurance is accepted. Tried leaving voicemails and emailing numerous times. Never received any assistance.
One star for the customer service. Potentially would bump up if I could actually use BrightsideHealth for it’s intended purpose.
by Cellysoup
Brightside approved my insurance and said nothing would have to be paid ensuring me multiple times everything is covered. 3 months later I’m hit with a bill for a therapy appointment that lasted less than the allotted time, and was immediately canceled after the experience with the therapist. She didn’t listen or bother to ask me anything about myself and instead tried to give me unrelated solutions without even knowing any problem- as if it was all scripted. Disappointed is an understatement, especially when people come here at there lowest points unable to get appointments elsewhere.
by TinaV24
BrightsideHealth and website are a user nightmare. Constant page loading issues, connection issues when having calls with my therapist, and you can’t go back and view previous lesson reflections to name just a few issues. Also, I was originally connected with a psychiatrist and not a therapist like I wanted. I reached out to support to help me get connected to a therapist and never heard back. Dealing with poor customer service and support is not something you want to deal with at any business but especially not one directly related to getting you help for your mental health. Extremely disappointing and frustrating.
by Cranbo44
I paid for my consultation, and five minutes before my meeting I logged on to see that the application says I need to “Complete my intake” which means they want me to pay for a second time.
I have my receipt from my first purchase, and in the past week after been in a carousel of emails with no help, and what is worse, there is no way for me to cancel my subscription through BrightsideHealth .
So. Email with no helpful answer. They provide a number but their automated system actually hangs up on you while you are waiting (three times). And no way to cancel your subscription or get to where you gave Brightside your card information.
I would give zero stars. Currently wondering if I need to call my bank to have my card number changed.
by Sarahseo
They say if you don’t show up to your appointment, you’ll be charged a no-show fee. Okay, I can understand that. Everyone’s time is valuable. But apparently they do absolutely nothing if your provider doesn’t show up to the appointment. I sent an inquiry and all they say is to book a next appointment. I’m short on my meds and my provider refused to refill my prescription unless I pay for another 15 minute session AFTER she failed to show up. They don’t care about you or your health. All they want is your money.
by NbOwnrThe1337FTW
BrightsideHealth is a total scam. Don’t trust Rebecca or any of the other personas that will attempt to dissuade you from getting your money’s worth.
by DustyFinder
Customer service mentioned they'd respond in three days, but it's been four days since my initial consultation and BrightsideHealth still hasn't allowed me to contact the provider. Although the provider promised to send a report within a few days, I haven't received it after four days. Despite his profile mentioning a holistic approach, during our conversation, he focused mainly on diagnoses and medications, citing that as his “wheel house “. I'm frustrated with paying a premium for expert advice only to receive generic responses. A rush responses on top of it. Really, 30mins and you got me locked down and going prescribe medication that may have lasting side effects.
by Dr3392
First of all, this is the first time ever to therapy on this type of platform. I was provided with a psychiatrist and a therapist. My therapist is amazing. She does a really good job in talking to me connect me as a one on one session I really like it. My psychiatrist told me that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder that I want it that I should be placed on a mood stabilizer and medication. She told me she was going to get back to me yet I hear nothing. I reached out to her two times I haven’t hear nothing. I don’t understand how this program is supposed to be assisting me helping me get better and if there is no type of communication I highly don’t appreciate that and at the same time if this is the way you treat all of your patients there definitely have to be more screens on psychiatrist for patients because I’m in a situation that I am suicidal and how can someone say that they want to try to help you if they don’t actually intend to provide more feedback on the situation?
by Ohiomatt33
I’ll start by saying this was initially easier for me than going to a traditional in-person doctor. However, trying to get ahold of my providers and Brightside Support staff the past few months has been SO difficult, and a huge headache each time. I don’t feel supported by this company and after about 8 months I’m cancelling.
My first provider never told me we needed a 30-day follow-up appointment after our initial meeting so my prescription ran out without any refills available. I went through withdrawal symptoms while trying to contact them for a refill. It took 4 days to get an actionable response from Brightside. So I spent those 4 days without my medication.
I then had to switch providers due to moving, and I asked Brightside support to assign me to a provider who was also licensed in the next state I was moving to in a few months after this move. They said they did, but when I moved, my provider informed me they were not actually licensed in the next state I was moving to. So I had to switch providers again, which means I had to have and initial “get to know you” meeting, which costs about $120 with my insurance.
Brightside says they will not waive or reimburse the cost for this meeting for me after repeated support requests, even though it was their error in assigning me a provider not licensed in the state I specifically requested. I’m done using BrightsideHealth.

The reason I left is in detail below. I am a COMPLETE mess at this very moment!!! Things are pretty horrible in my life and mental health right now. Brightside completely screwed me up medication wise and the absolute LACK of communication when I really really needed my psychiatrist to at the VERY least respond to my text msgs. A day or two, absolutely get it. But over a week several times when I had crisis, bad side affects to meds and making sure my disability was continued. Absolutely HORRIBLE. I ended up in a observation psychiatric ward for two days LAST Monday because of this neglect of care, compassion and advocating for my metal stability and well being. I would like to request a full reimbursement of funds! In a timely matter. I would rather not pursue this legally, especially in my current state. But I absolutely will if need be. I expect a full response, and when my refund will be expected. This is not OK!! Unstably yours, Adam Jon Stafford

BrightsideHealth needs a QA overhaul. It’s buggy and unresponsive. I’m supposed to follow lessons that only appear in the browser version but don’t record progress. There’s limited historical data and just overall meh. It’s pretty from the outside but the functionality is not there.
I would happily give the PM, Dev, and QA people 45 minutes of my time to review and discuss. I get it, Dev time is limited, but your app should work.
by LETsGo✌️
I like BrightsideHealth . It’s decent. But I hate using it when I have to do lesson. It makes me not want to use BrightsideHealth ever again. I go to watch a video. I close out of it when it has a literal SECOND left on the clip and it won’t let me continue to the questions. Instead it makes me watch the WHOLE video again. I chose online therapy because it’s convenient and I don’t have to change my day to day life for it. I don’t have time to watch a 15 minute video multiple times in a row. Even if I watch the video all the way through and it automatically sends me back to the continue screen it still won’t process that I’ve watched the video and it makes me watch it again. Also, some of the lessons require me to open up another app so that I can get a piece of information to put in where it’s asking, like a phone number. I will have everything completed but the number and the second I swipe to move to a different app it completely deletes everything. I can’t stand it I’ve thrown my phone across the room multiple times.
by Dutchashell
The therapy is great and the provider I had was stellar. My review is of BrightsideHealth support and platform in general. I got bounced around with psychiatrist and the new dr had no access to my previous notes so I had to go through intake, sharing my history and traumas over again. BrightsideHealth sometimes would eat messages to and from my providers causing confusion and delays and on at least three occasions the new lessons didn’t load leaving my therapist and I with progress gaps. Also, cancellation is a manual process without any in app ties so charges continued even after I thought I had cancelled.
by Nicole4U
**Update** Brightside customer service answered my email and phone call regarding the matter and refunded my money. Thank you for rectifying the situation. **Original Review** I rarely leave reviews, but the $70 charge I got for two appointments that I had no option to cancel (and only one appointment would let me reschedule!) is crazy! For a mental health app they sure do stress you out even more. I signed up for BrightsideHealth seeking a psychiatrist that could help me manage me current regimen but since it includes medications that telemedicine can’t prescribe, it’s pointless for me. I immediately asked for a cancellation and also spoke to both the psychiatrist and therapist I had to let them know I was canceling so that it wouldn’t count as a no-show. Apparently that meant nothing. I am so mad; people are too broke out here for surprise billings!! I want my money back!

I am the type of person who does her research especially with an online business/ platform so I’ll start by saying the website is easy to navigate and pricing information is displayed. On the other hand and what truly matters is the quality of the service and in my case I don’t feel like I got that. Although you fill
Out a questionnaire previous to your first consult she made it seem like that’s all she needed to know about me, within 3 minutes of jumping online she was prescribing medication, at this point she’s not really asking any open ended questions just the standard well if you have questions… she would have gotten off the virtual within 10 minutes had I not kept discussing certain things o felt rushed, and just like another “cow in the pasture. Jacqueline Williams does not have a warm, caring demanor and that’s important, I canceled my membership immediately so sad that the pretty package is just that…

I was excited to try therapy in this format, particularly because one of my anxieties has been calling to set up appointments. The Brightside platform just didn’t quite do it for me. Too many notifications to update my mood and things that my therapist never seemed to even have access to before our appointment. I consistently had technical issues during sessions that prevented me from really digging into issues and making progress. Bad audio quality, and my provider said her other clients seemed to have similar issues. I also found the Brightside format of specific discussion topics, homework, etc., to be unproductive and, again, more of a distraction from actually doing meaningful work. Finally, I never felt confident that what we were doing was truly private. My therapist had a headset, but their computer appeared to be in an open area of their home with occasional background noise.

I got matched with a good therapist, and I’m quite happy with him and the ability to schedule appointments easily and quickly. The prescriber was not as helpful, though that’s not completely her fault. It wasn’t clear to me going in how limited their prescribers are by the fact that they only do telemedicine. At least, that’s true in my state. So be warned. Also, the ‘service’ comes with emails prompting me to ‘check-in’ and there doesn’t seem to be a way to make them stop. Quite annoying. Not enough to make me cancel membership - yet - but it might!

I click on BrightsideHealth and it goes directly to the “book your first appointment” page where I already did made an appointment. Every time I go into BrightsideHealth it goes to the same screen and I can’t go back. It is irritating. Luckily it sends texts to my phone so I can do the check ins and chat with my therapist. But seriously other than that I can’t look at my medicines or messages or anything that I NEED to see. BrightsideHealth needs to be updated or fixed so that won’t happen again. I nearly deleted BrightsideHealth because of that. Betterhelp app is sooo much more reliable than this piece of garbage of an app.

incredibly easy to use and making appointments and getting prescriptions are quick!
BrightsideHealth is amazing but there are some important things and concerns:
1. Constant Logging Out
App logs out quickly after not using BrightsideHealth for a while, this means you have to sign in again constantly.
2. No Face ID login or Remember Login Info
Unable to save password, email and login using Face ID. This is incredibly important and is extremely odd that BrightsideHealth doesn’t have this. I’m guessing they don’t want sensitive information being leaked but there should be an option to toggle this and Face ID is a strong enough security.
Other than these, I have no complaints of BrightsideHealth.

I gave Brightside a chance after having a terrible first-time therapy experience 2 years ago with another website. Unfortunately I had hit my lowest low yet in terms of mental health and needed help. The care team that I have been working with (a psychiatrist and a licensed social worker) have been an insane help in supporting me to better myself and further understand how to cope and address certain anxieties and depressions that I have. I love how easy BrightsideHealth is to use, super convenient to schedule appointments on my phone. I also love the therapy lessons you can complete through BrightsideHealth to further your practice. I’ve been using Brightside for 3 months now and I’ve already convinced my friend and my mom to use it as well. All of us have had very positive experiences thus far!
by Cost And Coverage
My team of therapist/physician and the Brightside program has been great, they were patient, kind and truly listened, I was able to trust them with my care, so I could begin to positively impact my life. The only issue I had was the monthly out of pocket cost, since they don’t bill my insurance and my insurance would not reimburse any of the cost for Brightside. Which is unfortunate because I truly believe the program works, and my providers helped me to trust them and open up with them. If this is a program your insurance covers you will find the help here. But if insurance doesn’t you either pay over$300 per month or find a care team your insurance has in network and hope they are someone you feel comfortable with and trust to help you with the things you struggle with, and hope they truly hear you the way The Brightside team did for me. It’s unfortunate but the budget spoke louder than my struggles.

I am so grateful to have found this platform. I had been using a different platform for online therapy and relying on my PCP to prescribe medication, but this has been a much better fit for me. My provider is personable, kind, caring, prompt, and professional. I leave appointments with her feeling optimistic and with usually several suggestions of how I can adapt what I’m doing to achieve better results. She makes me feel as though I’m truly a part of the process of improving my mental health when some doctors seem to allow for less 2-way dialogue. I recently added therapy to my plan, and I clicked instantly with my new therapist. After experiencing other online therapy platforms and the nightmare of filing for insurance reimbursement, switching to Brightside has been a tremendously positive experience. I appreciate that my insurance is billed directly. I am certainly referring everyone I know to this fantastic service.
Thank you!

I’ve been on anxiety and depression medication for 11 years. It took over a year to get on my current regimen and has helped immensely. Until the last few months. Anxiety had always been the forefront, but depression reared its ugly head this last month. I went to my PCP, who had been prescribing my medication, and told her it’s time to get back to a psychiatrist. Unfortunately, the waitlist is months, if not a year, away. I was reluctant to see an online psychiatrist, but I couldn’t wait. They connected me to someone within three days. There will never be immediate relief when it comes to anxiety and depression, but my online doctor has listened, researched my medical past, and has been nothing short of helpful. And that goes a long way when you feel lost.

Affordable with or without insurance, Brightside has made a big difference not only for myself, but my entire family. My husband uses therapy services for work & anxiety stresses, my daughter used it while going through a traumatic life & relationship episode. My son has used it for severe depression and medication management, while has helped get his daily routine and life back on track. My own usage has been helpful and convenient to be matched with a narrowed list of providers after an insightful 9 step intake process, that helped determine the appropriate services for me. This included a consultation with a psychiatric nurse practitioner to discuss my existing medication management. I found hope after my first sessions, ongoing usage has the service living up to its name. The check-in assessments every few weeks in BrightsideHealth are helpful to see your progress on the depression / anxiety scale. We all have started seeing the ‘brightside’ of life, with our individual and unique treatment sessions and methodologies.

First of all, I want to clear the air that there are no controlled substances prescribed on this platform, which I think is a VERY GOOD thing!
I came to Brightside after two in-person psychiatrists let me down and overprescribed Xanax and Valium. It was a nightmare and I had to bring myself to a detox center. Brightside was my last hope after losing faith in most psychiatrists.
My Doctor is Dr. Hogle, and let me tell you, he listened to me, and once I was put on the right medication, I can finally live my life again. This service is simply amazing. Affordable, caring doctors, and easy intake process. I will be a customer for as long as I am taking medication for my symptoms. 5 star all around! Trust me, you won’t regret it!

BrightsideHealth can be glitchy but my doctor is great! I’ve seen a lot of psychiatric practitioners/doctors and even tried other mental health apps. The doctor I was provided is wonderful. She listens to me and even offers new changes to my medication. All of 3 of my meds are under $15. If you have issues with BrightsideHealth just go on the website and works much better. I feel BrightsideHealth/website could go the distance if they keep good providers. Keep it all about the quality of service, no frills. I don’t have insurance right now but my past community mental health appts, with great health insurance, were still $75 a session. Everyone’s experience is different but you should definitely give it a try.

I was losing hope that I would ever find any help. It’s amazing to me that there are so many inefficient “mental health” providers out there. I’m thinking specifically of my dealings with Windstone. If I were suicidal I would be dead now. They are a group of incompetents. It was torture trying to deal with them and I’m AMAZED that they are licensed to treat people already dealing with serious mental health issues. Optum acts like love them or leave them, like they are the only game in town! I’ve learned to hate Optum. I hope they are sanctioned for their irresponsibility with patients seeking help!

Literally. I was at a dead end with a local psychiatrist and getting into a new one was going to take over a month. I stumbled onto this platform and can’t be thankful enough. My doctor is incredible. A true advocate for me and a balanced approach. I had one interaction with their customer service team and that was the best experience I’ve had in that realm. Just all around amazing. If you’re thinking about it - go ahead and do it!

Dr. Frost is an amazing person and I can’t speak highly enough about him! Brightside is an exceptional app that truly lives up to its name. It's a platform that excels in promoting mental well-being and providing support. The user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate, and the wealth of resources, including articles, guided meditations, and self-help tools, is impressive. The psychiatric support is invaluable, and BrightsideHealth 's affordability is a breath of fresh air in the mental health space. Brightside has genuinely brightened the path to mental wellness for me!

Working with Latonia Mitchell was such a gift. During a really challenging season of my life she encouraged me, validated my experience, and supported me through starting medication for the first time. After our sessions I always felt like she really understood what I was going through and reminded me of what I was capable of; that I could get through this time. After several months with Brightside I can share that my anxiety and depression are significantly less and I’m able to begin to transition off of medication and Latonia was a huge part of this. I’m very grateful to her for the care I received.

brightside is free with my work insurance so I thought i’d give it a try. I was a little skeptical but since it was free, i thought “what’s the worst that could happen?” and keep in mind I just did the therapy option since I go to a psychiatrist in-person since I take adderall and I know they can’t help with that. so I can’t speak for the psychiatry part, but they matched me with an awesome therapist! I love my talks with him, and he’s helped me a lot so far. I had tried betterhelp before and it wasn’t good, im glad I got lucky with my therapist Chad, he is great and is always encouraging me to push myself and combat my anxiety :)

Great first impressions with this program so far. I needed care quickly and Brightside delivered. Got matched with an excellent psychiatrist and was able to get medication the very next day after signing up. Just started talk therapy as well. Therapists have always been hit or miss for me, I think that finding a great therapist is very personal to each individual. I’m glad that it’s easy to switch therapists if needed. Overall, I would recommend brightside to a friend. It’s worth a try if you have been struggling to get help. I’m not sure how worthwhile it would be if my insurance didn’t cover it though, you might want to shop around for the most affordable help you can find especially if you need prescriptions.

After 9 weeks of being treated with Brightside I’ve made a tremendous improvement over my mental health. Some days are worse than others but for the majority I’m able to go on with daily life and feel somewhat of joy in my life. Thank you to all involved.

I was definitely skeptical of this, but after not finding a psychiatrist where I live and having a weird work schedule, I decided to try it. There are regular check-ins that are sent directly to your provider which feels more attentive than going back and forth to an office. I appreciate being able to directly message my provider to live update and adjust my medication as needed. Highly recommend

I have to say I’m extremely impressed with BrightsideHealth! I was able to see a psychiatrist in nearly two days within my purchase. Some people who rated this badly said they couldn’t get controlled substances: please read BrightsideHealth description! They can’t prescribe controlled substances. I got my meds filled nearly immediately at the pharmacy. Thank you so much for making seeing a psychiatrist & therapist such an easy experience.

I was recommended this by my insurance and I am so glad I found it. Matches you with real providers in your state. I finally feel back on track after bouncing around from multiple online providers since Covid and this was the best one to get my mental health back on track !
Give it a try!

I have had a wonderful experience with Brightside. It was simple and easy to set up. Finding a provider that was available and accepted my insurance was so easy I thought I was doing it wrong. This is how finding virtual health care should be. When I had to reach out to customer service, I received a prompt and helpful response. I can no longer use Brightside as they don’t accept my new insurance, which is a huge disappointment. Highly recommend looking into BrightsideHealth.

After completing everything and paid. I wanted to change doctors. 1 BrightsideHealth homepage keeps freezing even though I logged off and logged back again. 2- it doesn’t not give me the option to change doctors or see what works best for me. There’s not live chat or phone number to call in order to solve the issues.

She was wonderful! She heard me and we discussed best meds. It’s only been a week but at least I’m sleeping better. I expect the Wellbutrin to kick in soon. I am most grateful for her help!!
by Mom-topp
I am so pleased with the whole process. I was immediately linked with a provider. Now we are working together to get the correct dosage for the medicine that fits my personal needs. I highly recommend this to everyone. It’s so easy.

I am thankful for the medication.

I'd rather pay for this service than use my insurance because it's not easy finding a good and knowledgeable person who is not only caring but passionate about helping others and I look forward to working with them as long as I possibly can.
