don't buy this nonsense. he'll abandon it in a few months like he did his last two apps. his real money comes from begging on his podcast. and he spends that money on hardware he doesn't need so he can beg for more money. simplissly the worst.

edit: he hasn't updated MaskerAid since he released his new one. what happened to the logging to catch those squiggly bugs or whatever baby nonsense you're saying?

edit edit: finally an update, TWO YEARS LATER. and apparently the dev was putting watermark on paid photos? lol

Unnecessarily locked behind pay wall

Only a single smileyface emoji is available for free and any other emoji requires in app purchase; not custom emojis or anything, just generic emojis. Since there is no difference between the default emoji and any other emoji, MaskerAid feels like it’s locked down as a cash grab. Should be free for all generic emojis and IAP could be for custom or non-standard emoji support.

Useful and Move Emoji

Purchased the full version right away so that I could add dog heads to my friends kids photos. Only problem I have is moving emoji since you have to drag directly on top of emoji. The two finger pinch works anywhere on the screen for resizing and rotating 😍 Love that!

Perfect app for privacy

I’ve been looking for an app to do this for a while now and it works perfectly to hide the faces for people who don’t wish to be included in my social media photos

Great app!

It does 1 thing and does it well. Lovely little utility to have on hand for when you need to mask a face(s) or something else.

Awesome App that Does what is says

MaskerAid is great and provides a quick and simple way to add emojis to images for numerous reasons. An easy insta-purchase as soon as I tried it out.

This is what a great app looks like

It does exactly what it says it does with simplicity. There’s nothing sleezy or buggy about it. It’s clearly designed by someone who knows how a good iOS citizen should behave. A+

Great app, happy to pay

MaskerAid is super useful and to-the-point. I appreciate it doing one thing and doing it well, and not being a subscription or selling my data.

Gave my kid confidence

Just used MaskerAid again and it gave my kid confidence to share a photo publicly while preserving their privacy and safety. This gives people of all ages the opportunity to make choices about how their likeness is shared. Love it!

Great for privacy-conscious photo sharing

What a great and simple app! Speaking as a foster parent and respite family, this app makes preserving privacy while sharing fun and important moments easy. Plus, the kids love giving themselves emoji faces just for fun! Well worth a few bucks.

Easily useful and powerful!

If you’re out and about taking pictures of what’s happening around you, it’s nice to get permission before posting people’s faces even though they’re in public. Well, that’s also not always possible, so this helps you protect their privacy by obscuring their faces with emojis quickly and easily!

It’s simple and quick to add more emoji, move existing emoji around, resize emoji, and export the image in a snap!

MaskerAid also strips the metadata for the photo, so if privacy is paramount for you — and it should be — MaskerAid makes protecting your privacy and that if others in your photos a snap!

Amazing little app for teachers.

I love to be able to share photos of my student’s work on my social media when I’m really proud of an assignment. Even with their permission (and the permission of their parents) I still feel a little icky sharing their faces. This will solve that problem!

I’ve done a few test runs and MaskerAid is extremely intuitive. Most of the time I don’t even need to adjust the emoji, MaskerAid covers the faces for me.

Highly recommended for parents/teachers!

So simple so functional so perfect

Does what it says on the tin and does it so well. Constantly finding new uses for it. Sometimes it’s really necessary. Sometimes it’s just an optional bit of modesty or anonymity that makes it easier to feel entirely ok sharing.

Exactly as advertised!

Would recommend this to anyone who is privacy conscious about sharing pics of their kids online. One request: can you make the sizing pinch-to-zoom gesture more obvious somehow? I got there but can imagine many people being stuck on how they would do that.

Overall great work!

SUPER SIMPLE AND HELPFUL!!!

MaskerAid is a PRIME example of a super simple and well-crafted app that fulfills a need. As someone who cherishes their privacy immensely and does not want to post pictures of other people who may not want to have posted on the internet, MaskerAid is perfect!! Casey Liss is an amazing developer and as I am not surprised, he knocked it out of the ballpark again!! Highly recommended!

Great, and incredibly useful

This definitely ranks in the top 3 Casey Liss apps.

It’s super useful, works near-instantly, and isn’t shady like Instagram (and really, Instagram isn’t where you should be editing anyway).

I don’t often need to hide faces in images, but sometimes I like to open an image I’m this app, just to see how it handles it… and I’m never disappointed.

Well executed

I don’t have much need to hide faces, but I often have needed an easy way to place emojis/markers on Instagram posts either for questionnaires or to hide specific parts of a pic in a story to get folks to click through to the post, and this is so much faster and easier than other solutions I have worked out.

Five-star rating and recommend to your friends.

Great small app that works as described. Detects multiple faces - even from FaceTime screen captures. Just for fun I added a smiley face to a bird. Why not? All this before paying for the upgraded app. I like to support small developers who don’t collect reams of data.

Try this, then tell your friends about it. Help thwart Face ID collectors.

Elegantly Simple

MaskerAid has a fairly focused goal, to help mask faces in pictures seamlessly, and it hits that mark extremely well. Opening MaskerAid for the first time lets you dive immediately into modifying an image with a smily emoji to cover a face. The watermark in the free version is unobtrusive, and the paid version is extremely reasonable in price. I hope to see MaskerAid continue to succeed and find its place.

Useful and creativity-inspiring app!

I learned about MaskerAid on the outstanding ATP podcast. After using it for a few minutes, I was impressed by how it works. I plan to use it for its intended use as well as a way to place emoji faces anywhere. Thanks Casey!
