Terrible app as of September 2023. It’s not optimized for iPad and forces you to use tiny internal keyboard, it lacks most of the website’s functionality, it’s slow, and it seems to run into errors in doing most things. It doesn’t even display its icon correctly, making me worry it’s some sketchy spoofed knockoff that wasn’t made by the people who made the site. this app in site form isn’t bad— very similar to Letterboxd— but I found Serializd immediately unusable. Maybe if it’s legit it will improve in time.
First of all, I switched over to Serializd from tvtime and manually logged all the shows I had in my watchlist. The i stupidly deleted my tv time account without double checking to make sure that everything was set. Now I’m missing 100+ shows from my watchlist because this app never put them in the list. I tested it a few times with a certain show and kept clicking “watchlist” but then when I clicked on my watchlist the show wouldn’t be there. I’m so upset and disappointed. A lot of my watchlist is now gone. On top of this, I really hate that there’s no page where I can see all the shows/seasons/episodes I’ve hearted. Also Serializd closes out when after I’ve liked, rated, or logged 10 things. Seems like it can’t handle heavy lifting. Poor excuse for an app and total Letterboxd wannabe, don’t waste your time.
Title.
- Serializd desperately needs a way to like reviews easier; add a like button on someone’s diary list and/or allow us to swipe through someone’s reviews so I don’t have to tap and open every single individual review.
- Add the release date to the log page so you can see when the episode came out while making your review.
- Allow us to swipe through episodes so I don’t have to waste time tapping on so many buttons just to log a show.
- add a “skipped” button for episodes as well as seasons.
- A lot of the genre tabs just give you an error or repeat the same 20 shows endlessly.
- Duplicate shows for lesser known properties cannibalize ratings.
- Some shows just aren’t on here or are difficult to find if they’re not English or Korean.
- More options for banners on different sections of your profile would be nice.
- The ability to choose your own posters is absolutely phenomenal, it’s why I'm still on Serializd instead of finding another. If you’re going to move to paid at least grandfather in this option for people already using Serializd . 🙇
- Being able to create your own lists is great too.
- Your stats page, the “paused”, “skipped”, “dropped” options are great, along with your “favorite shows”, and “currently watching” sections on your profile. Maybe add 1 more slot for favorite shows? IDRC about that but it’d be nice.
- The UI aside from what Ive already said is pretty great too.
Great concept… similar to letterboxd. Just seems a bit slow, & that might be because it’s not a huge app at the moment(?) But some stuff refuses to load, like the diary & other features. Also, I have to search each individual show, then add it a list, watchlist, log… I cant be on my watchlist, & add a show from there. Needs a few improvements, but I feel like Serializd is going to blow up
Great app to track shows you’re watching, but the watchlist feature really drags it down. It’s odd that it’s not more centrally located in Serializd (why do I have click on my profile and scroll down to get to it?), and there appears to be a serious bug where many shows don’t actually show up on the list when you add them. If this is fixed, Serializd is easily five stars for me!
I think Serializd is a great start to a fantastic app, it has so many great features to be comparable to letterboxd however it is very glitchy and unstable majority of the time.
I find it also doesn’t update your watch time immediately when you keep adding tv show data to your account as you go which kinda is sucky. I also wish it had a quicker way to say what seasons you watched through instead of doing each individual season or doing all at once. Myanimelist let you in a drop down menu click how many seasons of a show you had watched and it was much easier to keep track closer data
Otherwise this is such a lovely app and can’t wait to see how it evolves over time
When you post the things you’ve rating o instagram stories it’s in the lowest definition you could think of. I appreciate the feature but would enjoy it and use it more if it looked nicer. The Home Screen feels chunky to me and very messy especially when everyone is watching all the same stuff. I’ll still use it to log stuff cuz they have that down pat. The only other thing I would want is episode descriptions.
I was looking for a Letterboxd for TV series and Serializd definitely performs that function pretty well.
However, there are some changes that need to be made: First, you should be able to rank individual seasons of a show. For instance, most people would rank The Office a 5/5 but I doubt many would give the 1st season a 5 star rating. Next, for shows with more than 5 seasons, the phone version of Serializd gets glitchy when trying to scroll down to any season after season 5. I just watched Season 9 on a show and was unable to scroll down to mark that season as watched. Overall, pretty good though, keep up the good work.
I would love to have a watch button for intermittently watched shows — like The Nanny I watched here and there growing up, but have I seen all of it? No. Do I want to go through all the episodes to individually mark which ones I’ve seen? No, I’m lazy. Currently counting the George Lopez show as an “I’ve watched” it, but really I was half-dreaming half-watching falling asleep to Nick At Nite lol
I love this app but the end of the year review was odd. I watched all six seasons of Sex and the City this year but other shows trumped that viewing simply due to minutes invested. Going by episodes would make sense sometimes. I don’t understand how none of that factored in. My top shows didn’t make sense. I don’t feel this show is used friendly when it comes to watching something logging it and writing a review. I realized I accidentally logged a 7 episode miniseries twice and it was my top watch? I watched so much Seinfeld this year and none of that came up. The half hour programs can compete with the 45-60 minute programs with Serializd. If it could be more seamless to track shows, log and review comparable to Letterboxd I think more folks would use this app. There’s something about the display of information and where it’s kept that doesn’t make it as seamless
There are many similarities to the movie tracking app, Letterboxd, which is why I enjoy Serializd so much. I hope in the future the developers can add the cast of the shows and clicking on their name will bring up a page that shows us the other TV series they were in, and maybe the shows they directed or produced as well. This idea could be similar to the format of Letterboxd because I believe they did a perfect job on the functions of the cast list. Overall, it's a great app for tracking the shows you watch.
I love using Serializd and it’s been so handy! It’s probably one of my most used apps.
If I could recommend a few things to change, it would be the following:
- Add a “series spoiler” tag. I find that a lot of users will review the show on a rewatch and mention a spoiler for the series at large not just for that episode. I have had a lot of Grey’s spoiled for me this way. I think that could be prevented by adding a button and a protection for series spoilers and not just episode spoilers.
- Update the notification tab to show a preview of the review that people liked and group multiple likes for one review into one notification. It’s frustrating if one review is doing well and I’m having to click to clear a million notifications.
- If a series has been marked as watched, it should automatically default each review to be tagged as a “rewatch”. Pretty self-explanatory. It’s hard to remember to tap that rewatch button sometimes!
this app is one of my favorite apps! i’ve used it for over a year now, but i wish i found it even sooner because i’d forget so much of what i’ve watched without it and it’s more useful to me than letterboxd because i watch tv way more than movies. the only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that it can be buggy and slow at times and there are some tweaks i would like such as a way to mark a show as watched on a certain date without writing a review. this would allow my watched shows to actually be in order and for them not to count towards my stats for the year. i would also like more banner options, but i’m guessing it’s probably limited because it’s sourced from imdb or something idk. a “series spoiler” tag would also be nice. recommendations based on shows i’ve watched and liked would be good too. on the flip side, there are so many good features on Serializd. i like that we can change show posters, change the colors of our profiles, and profile layout is gorgeous to me. i’m also very grateful that it’s all free! if anything ever becomes paid, i would appreciate if loyal, older users get some perks for joining when we did.
A feature I would love to see added is the ability to log a TV show over a date range instead of just one day. So for shows you have seen in the past you can put watched starting here and ending here since you dont know the specific dates to be able to log each episode individually. This would be especially helpful for logging entire seasons. Love Serializd , glad I found it!
I am a film buff and love Letterboxd, but the fact that they don’t have tv is annoying. Serializd comes in a fills a great void more than that app could if they did tv! It’s a mix of Anime Planet stats and concurrent show tracking with the functionality and social media aspect of Letterboxd. How they also have anime on here as well is a plus and I love how they track your current watches with showing the release date of the next episode! Hope the user base grows cause this is s great start to an app I really enjoy!
Serializd is basically letterboxd for TV shows with a few features missing and a smaller community, but it’s the best way out there to keep a watchlist and log/review the shows you watch. I watch a lot of shows, and I’m on here almost daily adding a new show to my watchlist or adding a new season to my log.
I do have one request for future feature development. I’d love an auto recommendation feature like “people who gave X show 5 stars also gave Y and Z shows 5 stars”
I don’t write reviews at all but I love and enjoy Serializd so much!! I like Letterboxd but I’m not big for watching movies all the time so this is way better as I watch shows soooo much often then movies (not comparing btw!!). I love that they listen to the audience(pun intended) about stuff and the stuff they’ve since added like the banners to tv shows and such. ESPECIALLY more stats I love seeing the stats so much. Favorite app of the year for sure!!⭐️
This makes it super easy to keep track of upcoming episode releases, past watched shows, comments and lists, and everything in between!
The “where to watch” information is very up to date for streaming services also.
Wish there were more polls to see what general trends are for shows or for award season - possibly in future?
I love Serializd but I always have this issue where if I try to add a favorite show, add a banner, or add my bio, a black screen pops up and it says “Are you sure? Unsaved changes will be lost” and if I click yes or no, nothing happens and I cannot add a favorite show or banner etc. if anyone else had this issue please tell me and if anyone knows how to fix it plz tell me. Thank you!
I love the layout and abilities in Serializd . I'm mainly writing this review to request 2 things: 1st is maybe supplement ratings with IMDB or something until the users grows, that way I can stay in app and still get a good idea of the general public's feel on a show.
2nd is to add the average rating for shows by season. So on the screen where you click "see all" for the seasons of a particular show, have the average rating pop up next to each season. I like rating tv shows by season, but like having something to compare to. I appreciate the features, but want more!!!
