App assumes a large screen device. On the original SE, only the top edge of the button needed to start verification is visible, but not the label on that button, and there’s no way to scroll it on screen to see what it is/does. It is clickable (barely) so it’s now possible to launch the camera part of SMARTHealthCardVerifier .

Come on, guys. The home screen has ONLY ONE important detail - that button. PUT IT WHERE EVERYONE CAN SEE IT!

And bother to test your app on a small-screen device to be sure it actually works.

I had to download SMARTHealthCardVerifier for international travel to Singapore and I just tried to scan my vaccination card ( NY ). First there’s no scan button only to flip the camera lens. I close SMARTHealthCardVerifier and reopen after trying to scan. Now SMARTHealthCardVerifier can’t even open. There’s no update prompt and it’s literally useless. What can I do ? Can’t scan my card and it’s really frustrating. I restarted my phone. Reset. Etc. Nothing!!!

They recently updated their app to require location permission for a completely unnecessary reason - checking network connectivity - which can be addressed in much less invasive ways.
And, unlike other privacy-sensitive verifier apps which save a trusted list of issuers to the device, this one sends the name of the person's hospital/issuer to an online service every time you scan a health card. (And due to this, it also can't function offline.)
So, lazy app developers who prioritize easy development over privacy and quality. Not a good fit for anything that handles people's health data.

Who’s the moron who designed SMARTHealthCardVerifier? I click “scan vaccination record” and it opens what’s supposed to be the camera…yet, there is literally no way to even snap an image!

I hate to be cliché with the “if I could give 0 stars, I would” comment…but, seriously! If I could give 0 stars, I would, because your app doesn’t even work!!!

iPhone 12 mini, if it makes a difference….

SMARTHealthCardVerifier asks to scan my CDC vaccine card using the camera. It says to hold the camera steady and keep the card in the center of the frame. I did this perfectly with good lighting and SMARTHealthCardVerifier was unable to take the picture/scan. SMARTHealthCardVerifier creates a blue rectangle around the card as if it recognizes it, but it didn’t automatically take the picture. There was no manual override camera shutter button - perhaps it was below the fold off-screen and therefore inaccessible. I have an iPhone 6 - old yes, but it seems silly that SMARTHealthCardVerifier wouldn’t work on the more basic tasks.

Redowloaded and restarted SMARTHealthCardVerifier twice to ensure it actually downloaded correctly. After pressing the “Scan Card” option, it goes to my camera with no option to capture an image. I have come to the conclusion that it does not automatically scan after about 5 minutes with my card visible, no obstructions, and good lighting. I cannot even begin to start a real review of the overall process as I cannot get past the most pertinent and ONLY function of SMARTHealthCardVerifier . Please fix this, thank you.

There is no actual way to take a picture of your card. When you tap on the icon says ‘scan vaccination record’ & that asks for access to your camera, that screen then shows your card on the screen, but there is no actual button (shutter trigger) to snap the picture. The only button on that screen there only flips the camera to the face side of your iPhone. Easier to just take a pic of your card and keep it in your ‘favorites’ in your photos.

SMARTHealthCardVerifier says my phone has no internet which is not true. I have both cellular and wifi. Then it activates the camera but it doesn’t scan. There is no button on the camera screen. I restarted SMARTHealthCardVerifier and this time there was a button to take a picture. I took a picture of my vaccination card but nothing happened. Did the developer even test it once? You lost the trust of your users. I would give you zero stars if I could.

I cannot get SMARTHealthCardVerifier to work, and there seem to be quite a bit of trouble with it by many people. Developers keep leaving the same message for everyone it’s very bland and doesn’t really give any information. I cannot find a good alternative, so this is a pretty bad situation. I do know how it supposed to work, and I am used to scanning QR codes with other applications.

Chicago just required proof of vaccination and recommend SMARTHealthCardVerifier. It’s crashed twice and I can’t find the button to scan my vaccination record card. Looks like SMARTHealthCardVerifier has had 3 months of issues that are still not fixed. If all of Chicago tries to use this we are doomed. Hope someone from this company fixes the defects and updates soon.

I scanned my vaccine record and it verifies 2 of my vaccinations (but my booster doesn’t show up!). And then there is no option to save the record!

I was told I needed SMARTHealthCardVerifier for verification in Singapore but no idea on how it will save it for me to show at the airport/immigration/customs or wherever it is I need to show proof of vaccination!

SMARTHealthCardVerifier does not support Dynamic Type. If your display settings are for medium or large text, the front page will expand to the point where the “Scan” button is cut off and completely inaccessible. Then you won’t be able to interact with SMARTHealthCardVerifier at all. If you shrink your text size, SMARTHealthCardVerifier will work as designed. But what a pain. The concept is great and I hope it takes off.

The Home Screen still doesn’t allow scrolling. I cannot see the link to the privacy policy which was supposed to have been added in version 1.0.11. Just remove the useless picture of the hand holding a phone as it doesn’t add anything to the functionality of SMARTHealthCardVerifier . SMARTHealthCardVerifier has potential but really still needs some work.

It looked like SMARTHealthCardVerifier would open and then freeze but the problem is not that SMARTHealthCardVerifier freezes but that it does not adapt to the text settings on my phone. My text is set to very large. Since SMARTHealthCardVerifier doesn’t adjust for the text setting, all I see is the top half and there is no way to see the scan button.

Just a general comment that might be helpful to others and to your marketing staff.

SMARTHealthCardVerifier is NOT intended for scanning your own Smart Health Card (thought you can, I guess out of curiosity) and is it NOT intended for use by consumers as proof of vaccination for travel or other purposes.

It’s meant for OTHERS to scan and verify your Smart Health Card - for travel, for admission to an event, for worker immunization, etc.

For the average person, could be useful for screening guests to a party or family gathering (sorry, no advice on how to avoid fistfights) or for a small business.

Would be good if publisher would make the use case more clear.

If I install SMARTHealthCardVerifier , I can open it and use it to scan. But when I try to open it later, it immediately crashes. If I uninstall it, and then reinstall it, I can again use it the first time I open it. Kind of makes it feel like a single use app… So I’m only giving a single star. As soon as I can open it at least five times without crashing, I will change my rating to 5 stars. The info it provides is spot on.

Update: Just received feedback from the developer that this bug was fixed. Reinstalled it and SMARTHealthCardVerifier works perfectly! Thank you!

When SMARTHealthCardVerifier works it is great. Developers appear to be dedicated to resolving issues and leading the way to a viable vaccine passport—something the country AND the world needs. The Oct 14, 2021 release works well on my iPhone 11 Pro with the current iOS.

I can use SMARTHealthCardVerifier one time but after that it crashes when I try to run it. If I uninstall and reinstall it works but again, only one time.

Edit: it works now after today’s update.

I’m in Californa and this was the first app I found and I’ve shared it with lotsa people. Admittedly, most are casual acquaintances but o haven’t heard any complaints from friends. I’m grateful it’s a thing.

For the next pandemic I hope the vaccination card is more wallet friendly sized on fancier stock for the Luddites

Perfect/easy to use app to verify vaccine records. It’s good to see progress being made with the system and a way to actually verify the records has been created. Would be nice to have a switch to be able to chose to automatically show birth date to speed up process of confirming cards against ids instead of having to tap it each time.
