Gold and Goblins: Idle Games Reviews

I downloaded this game about three weeks ago. After laying a few days, my husband decided to download on his phone. When we play the regular mine shafts, it is fun. Just hard to get high amounts of elixir - which you should be able to get more quantity the harder the location, but you don’t. Otherwise, it is fun.
Now, my husband and I have played two of the side events to try and get more stuff to help. The first one we played more like the mineshaft, and we got maybe 3/4 of the way though. We just thought that maybe we didn’t do something right. This second even, we have been playing non-stop for the full days. I even left my screen on over night in hopes of collecting items. We have played and clicked non-stop since the beginning. My husband might reach the last keys in time. I can’t even reach them.
We don’t use money to play apps and games. I feel as though that is the only way to play the events, and you need the events to get through the basic mine easier.

I’ve never left a review for a game, certainly not one that I downloaded just to keep my bored little mind occupied for a few minutes every hour. But I’ve never ran into a mobile game that updates and changes the game in exactly the way the players want.

Adding mini events, shadow progress bars before you upgrade a mine, dynamites, tapping through rewards quicker, letting mine upgrades affect the next collection. Minor changes like these make the game more fluid and keep the player base engaged.

It’s so painful to play a game that gets a major update with new content but refuses to acknowledge little bugs in the content that already exists, or refuse to add features that make maneuvering through GoldandGoblins easier. This game gets both new content added AND gameplay optimization features, it’s fantastic!

I’ve been playing for over a month and aside from the events being nothing more than a way to try and pressure people into spending money ive enjoyed paying and will likely continue.

Though today I’ve had an ad pop up for Idle Inn Tycoon that will NOT go away and keeps popping up every few seconds. I’m not sure if that’s something the developers can solve or what the issue is. I don’t know where else to go with this and I do know the devs read these reviews so here guys. Can you fix it?

I got all the way to mine 14 spending hours upon hours on the game progressing in the events to build elixir and everything and then clicked to leave the event and when it pulled up my main mine it reset my entire game. I reached out to support and was told I’d be contacted in 24 hours and to tell them my mine level and if I made an purchases so I did after 2 days responded AGAIN to find out what’s going on. They said sorry it’s taking so long and to tell them my mine level and if I made any purchases (basically repeating what they’ve already said when my last message already had this information in it) so again I did and it’s been over 2 weeks now since it reset my game and still no answer. Very upset with this game that their support team is so terrible and I can’t even get back to mine 14 I’m not about to put hours back into the game for this to happen again. Don’t bother downloading unless you’re willing to restart out of nowhere and not be able to get your progress back.

This game is a fun concept that could really go somewhere, but right now it's an idle game disguised as a mining sim. Here's the short list:
- Idle income is constant with no offline penalty, but that isn't your main source of income: The cannon is, and the cannon is random and only fires while online. This is the incentive to keep GoldandGoblins up at all times.
- Unit development is done through random cards, which seem fairly balanced, but there isn't a lot of choice in what to upgrade. Mines can only be automated with a certain number of cards, and that's where most of your elixir will go.
- There is no way of telling what using gold to level up a mine will do. The multipliers seem random and the cost grows very quickly; but since cannon income is dependent on these, a player may feel like they have to save for mine levels rather than buying another goblin, even if the boost turns out to be disappointing.
- Like most idle games, while the main game is casual, events are killer and require almost constant supervision and perfect form to complete. The difference here is that you don't 'need' every key and the rewards are not drop-dead must-have.

I'd keep playing this game if I had a lot more time on my hands than I do. As I mentioned, this game could go somewhere with more development. Cheers, and keep at it

This game is fun, mindless, and an interesting way to waste time. And I’d almost be willing to give it 5 stars and recommend it for kids but some of the ads are SUPER INAPPROPRIATE for younger audiences. Right now an ad for Comics Bob is playing and it implies that you can either reveal a nude woman, or have Bob get in the shower with her and have sex. Another ad for a “delete one part” type game shows you have the ability to erase characters clothing or even see through a wall to see if anyone inside is being intimate. This is totally inappropriate advertising in a game that should be kid friendly.

If they could push family friendly ads, instead of these more “adult oriented “ ones, then I would say this game is awesome. You can play without buying anything and you don’t even really need to watch any ads if you don’t want to, but for me it’s sometimes worth it.

The game is pretty fun tbh. But there’s a huge thing that’ll turn people away.

EVENTS! I’ve NEVER completed and event and got everything. Only time I’ve came close is by spending $60 during the event to get event card to progress faster. SIXTY DOLLARS FOR AN EVENT I DIDNT FULLY COMPLETE. Even if you spend $20 on an event, and stay up 1-4 days clicking every box during the events, you still will not be close to getting all the keys. Anyone who feels like no matter how hard they try, the only way to get all the stuff is by dropping ALOT of money will quit playing the game. And if you spend money, especially event deals the rewards are so little, Basically all the events are for is getting cards for the main mine. You could spend money on the event and the most you’ll get back in gems from it, won’t even be enough for a 1 hour boost for the next event…. Not worth it.

Great game to play if you need to kill time. However, I wish there was more possibilities to earn elixir or simply lower the cost of the cards. Once you get to the higher levels, it’s hard to choose between spending money on mine upgrades or goblins but because you can’t automate a mine without spending elixir, all of your elixir goes to that and not more useful upgrades. Plus, the only way to gain elixir is through special rocks, random cannon barrel drops, and events. The events themselves are very hard to complete and even though you still gain the rewards you achieved, that’s only once every week essentially. Just wish I could receive more elixir from the cannon drops or each rock that you mine gives you a few elixir. Great game in theory. Just needs more updates and development.

I love the events. I wish there were more. And maybe longer ones too. It’s near impossible to get all 20 keys without devoting all your time to the game or paying for the extra chests. Also I’m very sad when I waste a goblin all night because I forget to check and move him to another rock or something. If there was a way that a goblin would auto move (only once. I’m not crazy) it would help a lot of stuff and bring lots more fun. Make getting 20 golden keys easier but make the extra area even more rank points and make rank rewards even better so it’s not just about the keys and you can make them easier. Love the game. Would love to see minor tweaks.

So let me start off by saying, this game is fun for an idle game. The goblins are cute and graphics are fun. You don’t need to spend money to play the game, if you have a little patience! After playing in the main Mine, and using gems to purchase cards, and discovering that they are indeed a permanent upgrade feature, I played in an Event. When you use money and are told something is “Permanent” you expect it to be a true statement. I messaged the team and the answer given is “the cards are permanent during the event and after it, they reset”! Then they are NOT permanent and should not be advertised as such!! I won’t be wasting more money, but feel duped!! Lied to!!! I’m breaking up with your Events Goblins and Gold! Tell the truth and let people have the facts before they spend.

Playability is ok and nearly typical of an idle miner, however don’t expect to be wowed as there are much better miner games out there like Egg inc and Adventure Capitalist. Why? First off, you don’t have to be tethered to the Internet. Unlike, Gold and Goblins, which requires you to be online 100% of the time. So no offline play here. Also the episodes in this game are very short, so you have little choice to restart (I.e. begin a new mine) as when the mine you’re on is tapped out, there’s no point in hanging around. Therefore, there’s no real satisfaction in accomplishment with this game. In fact, the only accomplishment you get, if you spend the real $$$, is a lighter wallet; something this idle miner game is focused on. Heck, if they were serious about it, they’d make it fun so you’d want to spend on the game. The bottom line, this one is not worth the time and there are much better alternatives to this junk.

Love the game, I’ve played many games with this formula but this one is different.

Devs: I played the Trailer Park Boys one for years, the one thing that makes that game stick out, is unlocking characters during events. Yeah unlocking more cards and stuff is cool, but make rare characters a thing. Or at least costumes or something. It makes people go so much harder on events. In the TPBs game, you could scroll to the bottom and see all the limited time characters you’ve unlocked during events, even if they didn’t serve a huge purpose. It was just super cool to watch your collection grow. Just a thought! Thanks guys, great game!

This game is so much fun but it’s impossible to level up quickly because no matter how far you get you never get higher amounts of elixir.

Another thing I noticed regarding the elixir is that the game doesn’t award you the correct amount. For instance, when leveling up the mines themselves, if you let your coins collect until the mines levels are full then you level it up you get elixir. But most of the time it will say x200 meaning you should get 200 elixir but the number of elixir only goes up by 2. I waited over night the other night came back to the game ready to level up all the mines and collect a good amount of elixir. I leveled up for mines and only received 40 elixirs when it said I should’ve gotten thousands.

If the goblins require more elixirs to level up the farther you go in the game, you should be awarded the proper amount of elixirs and from my experience I haven’t been.

Seems to me they are giving you less elixirs hoping you will spend money to buy more. And that’s very predatory to me and I refuse to spend money on games because it’s for no reason at all.

Overall this game would be much better if developers weren’t greedy for money.

Let me preface with this review by saying the game isn’t 100% bad. The gameplay is an idle game where you have miners take up portions of the map for you to advance. My biggest problem, however, if the title wasn’t a big enough spoiler, is that reloading the game can cause a crash. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game to fix it, but it happened a second time and I tried to get out of GoldandGoblins to no avail until I went to try to turn my phone off then reopened my phone, still on GoldandGoblins , for it to finally load. Before that, I even tried using a notification to get out of GoldandGoblins and into another one with no success. Regardless of how good a game is, when it starts harming the system, especially a PHONE, it’s NOT WORTH IT. I won’t be reinstalling again, but I do hope that the issue is fixed for anyone else.

This game is brilliant! This is a great time waster! No bugs yet and you aren’t forced to watch adds, and surprisingly, because of this, I actually watch more adds! Fun features, you can level up mineshafts, level up your goblin cannon and you can play many events and you can merge your goblins so that your goblin can mine faster, also, occasionally, when you get a random box, you find a stick of dynamite! One feature I would like is if you could sell stuff to get jems, otherwise, this game is absolutely worth your time!!!!!!!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖💖⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨✨✨✨🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💫💫💫💫💫

This game is mindless and fun. I usually have no problem with ads as I refuse to pay to play. However, the ads in this game keep getting longer with anywhere from 2 to 3 things you have to click on to get out of the ad. I don’t mind the ads but now you have to watch the ad then hit the >>> button then watch for the x then hit the x and the download ad pops up again, then you have to hit the x again and watch the 5 second timer before it truly takes you back to the game! I am giving the game a month to address this way of advertising before I change my review to one star and quit the game.

I like this game except for having to watch all the ads to get anywhere. And especially the same ad over and over in a row. But today it went over the edge for me and I will delete the game if it doesn’t stop. This ad for all the different games of the pregnant girl and the guy cheating on her then her having to go out in the driving rain/snow or whatever. I’m so disgusted. It’s demeaning to both men and women and I quit playing the game immediately. I’m sure you don’t much care if you lose one player but I can’t believe that I’m the only one feeling this way. Especially since every game is going that route. Seriously ridiculous!

The game would be great if there was a system of continual progression apart from just upgrading your permanent cards. Beyond that, it’s relatively pointless to play considering it just starts all over again from level one at the next mine and you don’t keep your gold or goblins from the previous mine. The mines never get any longer it seems either so the highest goblin you’ll ever see would realistically be level 12. The events never last long enough for you to make any real progression, so if you have a job in the real world that doesn’t allow phones in the work place…you’re done for. Great sound effects though.

Hello, I really love this game. I have to say though the hidden events seem like me to pay more. Unless I set an alarm I will never get to the end. That to me seems like you want me to buy extra. I paid the $4.99 for no ads so why can I not complete an event? All of my earned characters are are strong enough to finish let alone in the top 100. Feels like a more money grab to me. I really love this game though and don’t understand with even setting alarms I can’t get there. I paid in. Let me have a chance if I’m on all the time for events.

Definitely a fun little game to put your time into, would recommend. Been playing it non stop for a couple days now. Some things that I think would be helpful in the game:
1. Let us know whether the upgrade for mines will be 10 or 20, instead of having to guess. Either that, or make it consistent for each upgrade.
2. Would love to see a Gold Per Sec metric or something on the mines, instead of total gold. Since they produce at different speeds, it’s unclear which produces more and should get the upgrade points.

It really is fun, and definitely worth downloading and playing. But there is a nagging feeling that something is missing. Your progress through the mines is of course tracked level number wise. And you do keep some of the progress you’ve made with the cards, though coins and everything else is wipes out with each new level. Maybe if there was an actual main page or start page, but there isn’t. Your enter right in the mine level or event you left. Maybe a statistics page showing your cumulative progress in the total amount of various materials would be nice. But currently there is just an unfulfilled feeling as you progress.

Just started playing today and I’m in love with this game! There are so many features that are done well! One thing I would suggest is that you guys should allow us what manager we can use to automate the mine. I have a lvl 3 agate manager, but it wants me to upgrade my lvl 2 uncommon agate manager so that I can automate that mine. Not a huge deal I just figure it’d be nice to have something to automate it for the time being until I can upgrade that manager and have him eligible for running the mine. Good job guys keep up the good work!!

Started off a good addicting game. However, one day I opened app and all my game was lost. I did have my game linked to Game Center. But my progress was at mine 36. All data, progress and purchases lost. Contacted support and started a ticket. After a few email communications the support said they are putting me back at level 36 and restoring all purchases. After two days I was still at mine 1 and no further progress contacted support again and she said she will elevate to higher support. After three days I received email stating my help ticket was being closed as no more activity. Well ok then. Everything lost and no support. So beware of all being lost and no support to help you. Deleted game and just want to warn others. Caution.

Fun past time! Great updates and graphics! Only real concern is the main progress seems to have stopped at level 65 mine with no discernible estimate on when new levels will be available. Game events are still fun, but a little less impactful when main game is stalled until new levels are available.

Update: the developer is really great about getting back to you and they’ve advised newer levels coming with the Halloween 2021 update! Looking forward to it!

Sadly as of a few days ago when I try to open the game it is a solid black screen. I can no longer reach the mines and the happy little goblins. Also since I couldn’t get into the game I could report the issue there and didn’t know any other way to look for help on this. All other apps on my iPad work without a problem so I conclude it must be the game itself I hope this is resolved soon. Look forward to playing again soon toodles.

So I’ve been playing none stop for almost a week. Different challenges on different boards. All was going well finally up to level 22 almost to 23 I played this morning when I found there was a update and everything went down hill from there. The update makes your game crash. And atm there is nothing customer service can do to change it. So I would avoid the upgrade if possible

I enjoy the game so far and love getting to see what new tool/look goblins get when they level up.
In my mind there’s only one major flaw with the game, and that is that your managers can’t manage a mine cart without being the right lvl and that has been making me avoid mine carts (aside from the initial chests you get).

Let me explain, I only have so much potion to use on upgrades, if I wanna upgrade the little house at higher lvls I have to save a lot more to get them meaning I’m not spending those potions on my goblins. And because they aren’t a high enough lvl (sometimes by two or 3 lvls) I can’t use them to automate the carts and wind up only using one auto per stage.

I suggest letting the managers be able to auto collect regardless of lvl and just make it so the money is less unless they are upgraded, as that would incentivize actually spending your potions to lvl them and not ignore the carts.

I’ve been enjoying the game so far- I love being strategic and not needing to be logged on all day to get anything done.
However, I’m not sure if I’m the only one with this issue, but when I go to manually collect the coins from the mines that haven’t been automated, I can see the animation the the coins being collected, but my total coin balance remains unchanged. It’s extremely frustrating when this is the main way to earn coins and it’s not working properly.
Other than this, I’ve been loving it, thanks!
