Comet Nishimura Reviews

I’ve been trying unsuccessfully for a week to spot Comet Neowise. Last week I drove around my town trying to find a dark enough area and finally did but the weather didn’t want to cooperate and it was too cloudy. Tomorrow (7/29) is supposed to be a clear & cloudless evening so fingers crossed that I’ll spot it and I’m really hoping CometNishimura will help. 🤞🏾🤞🏾 🤞🏾 If not, I hope anyone living in the year 8820 will have better luck.

SUCCESS thanks to CometNishimura!! I’m so excited. ☄️ I found a pretty dark area near a private airport a few miles from me and opened CometNishimura . It worked perfectly and I could definitely see the comet. ☄️ It’s very cool. I could also make out the tail a little bit. Only thing that would make CometNishimura superb is if it had a photo taking capability. But, I was able to download an app for binoculars that took photos even tho they came out a bit blurry. I’m a happy camper now. 😁

First your location has to be on I always have mine off. So go out side to get a good GPS signal. Then turn your location on. My Compass app had offloaded to save space so open up your Compass and make sure where it says North is makes sense. Then you can close your Compass go back and open your Comet Neowise app and mine worked fine. Hey man you should let us give you a dollar or two. I looked around for two days for something to tell me where I can find the comet. All these complicated astronomical apps are fine if you use them all the time but I didn’t need all that right now.

I’ve been looking for something help see NEOWISE with my family and came across your simple to use app and although it’s been too cloudy everyday here we are all hoping to get a glimpse. CometNishimura does the job perfectly and big thanks to the developer for making it easy and free. With luck my daughter can see it before it goes away for 6000+ years! Can’t say enough about the generosity of this developer. Kudos my friend!

Either CometNishimura doesn’t work, or I completely fail to see how to use it. It sounds simple, but no amount of poking, prodding, or “simply holding it up to the sky” priduced any useful information. Edit: The developer contacted me and told me how to be sure my compass was turned on, and now it works. Or, at least it would, if it wasn’t cloudy.

Great app! So happy I found this. So much so that this is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review for an app. I was able to find it with ease after verifying my settings. I needed to turn on the Compass Calibration in Location Services just like the info icon in CometNishimura says to check. Thanks!

I just used CometNishimura to find the comet. I got adorable iPhone photos by aiming at the comet with CometNishimura , then switching to Camera. Thank you for making this! We would not have found the comet without it. Made some people happy here. Thanks again.

Thanks so much! It didn’t work for me because the area where I live had many cloudy days and the only day it was not cloudy, it was the moon that it didn’t let me see the comet. Easy to use. Please keep us posted for the next comet!

It would be really cool to be able to use CometNishimura again once the comet comes back in 7 thousand years.

I read that the comet will be most visible on the 22nd. I happen to be traveling to a place in the mountains (with amazing star vision) and plan on looking. Planning on going at sunset.

Any advice? Do u know if the comet will actually be visible (if sky is clear)?

It’s not a full-blown astronomy app but it does the job well as comet Neowise is the main focus of CometNishimura . Many astronomy apps you have to pay extra to get to see comets.

CometNishimura is fantastic because it not only locates the comet easily, it also does nothing else. It’s a return to what apps were like before devs became code-bloaters. Pure and simple. A joy to use.

Never would have found it if not for CometNishimura. Downloaded it in the field, cranked it up, and found Neiwize with binoculars 3 minutes later. Great job!

Very easy and fun to use. You can find out where the comet is wherever you go, whenever you search.

I can’t get CometNishimura to automatically locate the comet. I can’t just point my device to the sky as the information button says. My
Location services are set to ‘while using CometNishimura ,’ but it still will not work. The new button added to automatically stop rotation isnt working either. It’s unfortunate.

Found it in about 5 seconds from opening CometNishimura!!!!

So when the comet gets to the highlighted circle is when it will be in the view range?

All my settings as mentioned in your app is configured the same way. But when I went outside and pointed CometNishimura to the sky it showed me the comet but it wasn’t moving it was glued at one place. The place where it Showed comet is there was nothing not even a bright star.

What more do you want?

Even with my location on and access for CometNishimura to my location, it didn’t seem to work - just gave me a fixed view of stars in the sky. It couldn’t show me where I was in relation to the comet. I’m disappointed :(

I’m excited that CometNishimura points towards the comet— I have yet to spot it. But I hope it’s in the right direction— the “location” of the comet completely changed from one side to the other side of the sky when I saw from my apt window to when I went to the rooftop.
