Great app two*** flaws!(UPDATED)

The flaw is this: The Indoor treadmill distance measuring is based on your arm swing. This results in an error between .1-.2 (one or two tenths of a mile). Since there is no accurate way to measure foot speed through your arm, it is approximate. The problem arises when your arm stops moving to adjust headphones, wipe sweat, anything that stops or changes arm swing. I used access to a biomed engineering lab to measure treadmill distance and speed, foot speed and arm swing speed in a high speed camera and measuring equipment(on body and shoes). The treadmill was +.02 miles out of sync with the baseline and the app/watch tracking was between -.1 and -.23 on several runs where arm motion was not stopped for anything. Conclusion: app needs to be editable for distance ran on indoor treadmill to marry the errors and find the average for best results of differences and become a better approximation. If you have long arms, your 6mph pace will become a 5.25mph pace unless you keep arms tight and punch as if you are hitting a speed bag. New flaw is probably updated IoS caused: watch app stopped approx halfway-2/3 through. Phone tracked map but distance showed only up to where watch app stopped .8 miles short of total distance.

Already looks promising

Just the concept of this app and flipping through the workouts let’s me know this is perfect for anyone who’s not a skilled runner and isn’t trying to train for a marathon. I was on C25K for a year and soon came to hate how the app was pushing me to run for half an hour or more in the second half of the 8 week training. That kind of training is entirely exhausting, and left no room for weight training. I honestly just wanted to run for fun and health benefits, not to race! Which is why you can’t imagine the relief I felt when this app said it was about running time, not distance, and that the goal is just a 25 minute run at most. That’s reasonable and achievable for people who just want to go for a jog a couple times a week. I have not worked out using this app yet but I am excited to give it a shot!

Great app, with one minor frustration.

I love almost everything about this app. It is a much gentler start to a running program than Couch to 5K, and I enjoy the fact that there is no annoying voice cheering you on lol. I like that it gives simple reminders on what to do and that’s it. I don’t like that some of the runs end without a cool down though. In week 4, you run 1.5 minute intervals, and walk for 2 minutes in between. Rather than just letting you walk for 2.5 mins at the end, it has you run a random 30 second interval to fill the time. It doesn’t make sense. Obviously you can do your own cool down, and that’s what I have been doing. Could be something that isn’t worth complaining about, I just think it could be improved.
