Great app two*** flaws!(UPDATED)

The flaw is this: The Indoor treadmill distance measuring is based on your arm swing. This results in an error between .1-.2 (one or two tenths of a mile). Since there is no accurate way to measure foot speed through your arm, it is approximate. The problem arises when your arm stops moving to adjust headphones, wipe sweat, anything that stops or changes arm swing. I used access to a biomed engineering lab to measure treadmill distance and speed, foot speed and arm swing speed in a high speed camera and measuring equipment(on body and shoes). The treadmill was +.02 miles out of sync with the baseline and NonetoRun /watch tracking was between -.1 and -.23 on several runs where arm motion was not stopped for anything. Conclusion: app needs to be editable for distance ran on indoor treadmill to marry the errors and find the average for best results of differences and become a better approximation. If you have long arms, your 6mph pace will become a 5.25mph pace unless you keep arms tight and punch as if you are hitting a speed bag. New flaw is probably updated IoS caused: watch app stopped approx halfway-2/3 through. Phone tracked map but distance showed only up to where watch app stopped .8 miles short of total distance.

Excellent program and App!

I have been wanting to get back into running for a long time. This program and app are perfect to work back up mileage and endurance. So much better than previous programs I’ve tried. Easy to get into and love the layout of NonetoRun with the set workouts for each week! NonetoRun is great works well with my audiobooks playing while still giving me the walk run prompts. Both Mark the creator and Jeff the developer were very quick to answer questions I had when I couldn’t get something on my Apple Watch to work right. Problem was user error and they figured it out within an hour and late at night. Thanks guys for your quick response and help. Look forward to continuing to build on my runs. The price is well worth the setup within NonetoRun for intervals, provides motivation to click off each workout and tracks everything in one place vs multiple apps to see progress following the program. Worth every penny!

Start Running!!!

The None 2 Run app is amazing! I used another popular program 10 years ago that worked me up to running a 5K but afterwards when I continued to make running a part of regular exercise I was plagued with injuries. So I came to the conclusion I was not a runner. So this past year I came across the N2R program and decided to give it a try. It’s great because it is designed to get you running at a pace that is comfortable for you.
When used with your phone and/ or your watch it gives you prompts of when to walk and when to run and also an encouraging phrase at the end. The end goal is to be able to run for 25 minutes straight regardless of distance. You can do this at your own pace and even repeat weeks if you need to. There is also a social media group with people going through the same program as you for support and encouragement. I am now slowly working through the N2R 5K program.

You can be a runner!

Failed at couch to 5k plans? Don’t think you could ever be a runner? Think again! N2R is the best plan out there to get you off your couch and out the door. The plan itself is a gradual build up and focuses on time spent on your feet not distance and pace. NonetoRun has gentle reminders for half way through and 5 seconds left. And the confetti at the end of a completed workout is fun! I like that the plan also has strength and mobility exercises to do on your off days. I started my N2R journey in March 2020. I graduated the starter plan able to run for 25 minutes straight, then completed the Race to 5k plan shattering my goal of running a 5k under 40 minutes, and now I’m on the 10k plan. To think that 9 months ago, I couldn’t run for more than 1/2 a mile but now I can confidently run 3 miles is crazy. NonetoRun /plan works!

Grateful for N2R

Update a year later: I’ve lost 30 lbs and changed my life. Over the course of a year, I completed None2Run’s first two programs (None2Run and Run to Race 5K) - I took a break in fall 2020 when I returned to work in person, but, with the beautifully designed training programs, I was able to pick it up again in the spring of 2021. I ran my first 5K a few months ago - something I never thought I could do! Now I’m in the third program of N2R, which is Run to Race 10K. I am fitter, stronger, and happier - all because of N2R.

If you’re considering subscribing to NonetoRun , know that the technical support and customer service are fantastic. When there’s an issue, I email support and I always get a real response from Jeff - surprisingly, he actually fixes the issue in NonetoRun and updates it! I’ve never had that kind of customer service with other, more expensive app subscriptions.

Original review in spring 2020:
None to run has been incredible. I tried couch to 5k several times in the past and always failed. Now, I’m a month into None2Run. The strength component and the optimized interval schedule are the biggest advantages of N2R. I look forward to running every other day and I haven’t developed shin splints (as I did with C25K)

First time runner, age 32

I am a first time “runner” meaning that this is my first time taking running or any running program seriously as part of my training. I am a spin bike user (for a year or so) and recently purchased a treadmill. I signed up for the None2Run program because it seemed so much more in depth and more of an actual lifestyle change than a typical couch to 5k type program. That is exactly what this program is. I feel confident that I am doing the right thing for my body with the 12-week program. Slowly but surely the longer run intervals are becoming easier and easier. Thank you to Mark and his team for making it so simple on NonetoRun . And thank you for keeping the in depth emails coming with great information to keep us all safe in our training no matter our skill level.

Great app, exceptional customer service!

NonetoRun is worth it for the customer service alone. But it is also a great app! Day one was accessible to me as a complete beginner. It was still a challenge for someone completely out of shape, but doable. I have tried other apps that were too hard, especially when running outdoors. I like that NonetoRun has the option for treadmill or outdoor running. I also love being able to listen to my own music while still being able to hear the prompts. My husband and I are going through the program together and are loving it so far. If you have any questions or issues, customer service is the absolute best! I highly recommend NonetoRun!

Already looks promising

Just the concept of NonetoRun and flipping through the workouts let’s me know this is perfect for anyone who’s not a skilled runner and isn’t trying to train for a marathon. I was on C25K for a year and soon came to hate how NonetoRun was pushing me to run for half an hour or more in the second half of the 8 week training. That kind of training is entirely exhausting, and left no room for weight training. I honestly just wanted to run for fun and health benefits, not to race!
Which is why you can’t imagine the relief I felt when NonetoRun said it was about running time, not distance, and that the goal is just a 25 minute run at most. That’s reasonable and achievable for people who just want to go for a jog a couple times a week. I have not worked out using NonetoRun yet but I am excited to give it a shot!

If you want to be a runner this is the app you need

Hello everyone, I just finished my none to run program and if you want to become a runner this is NonetoRun for you. I have tried other programs in the past when I was younger and fitter and kept hitting brick walls due to injury. On this program if you follow the instructions and listen to your own body you will see this can be done. When I first started I only got 0.75 miles done, on my last run- I ran 1.67 miles. You will be looking at the clock constantly in the beginning but as time goes on you will start getting into the flow and not pay attention to the clock anymore. Enjoy!

Great app, with one minor frustration.

I love almost everything about NonetoRun. It is a much gentler start to a running program than Couch to 5K, and I enjoy the fact that there is no annoying voice cheering you on lol. I like that it gives simple reminders on what to do and that’s it. I don’t like that some of the runs end without a cool down though. In week 4, you run 1.5 minute intervals, and walk for 2 minutes in between. Rather than just letting you walk for 2.5 mins at the end, it has you run a random 30 second interval to fill the time. It doesn’t make sense. Obviously you can do your own cool down, and that’s what I have been doing. Could be something that isn’t worth complaining about, I just think it could be improved.

Awesome running app!

Love the longer build for doing a 5k vs the normal 8 week programs that most do. The haptic notifications on Apple Watch at certain points of the training plans are great. Shows you everything you could want to see on watch or phone during workout. It is great that you can switch to a further development of a 5k training plan to increase your pace as well as go to a 10k training plan as well.

I had no issues in signing up for the annual subscription on NonetoRun. All other apps seemed to be missing watch and phone easily communicating with each other, buggy, or just didn’t have a good training plan.

Simple and convenient

NonetoRun is a great tracker for running. I just finished week 8 of 12 of the none to run program. The program itself is slow going and achievable which I appreciate, the programs I’ve done in the past I get shin splints by week 2 and a lot of joint pain, but this is all about promoting starting slow and ramping up. I like NonetoRun features too! It over lays commands when your intervals start and stop with whatever you listen to during your run, tells you when you are halfway through the run for route planning purposes, and tells you each time you hit a mile. Try the free trial and see for yourself!

I can officially say I am a runner

I have been trying to become a runner my entire adult life. When I turned 43 last month I was proud I’d been officially running for 16 weeks. Every single attempt before NonetoRun I found myself unable to maintain anything steady for longer 4 weeks tops. Thank you Mark for starting a challenge my husband told me about. I got excited to run again. (Forgot to hit send on this a year ago). I’m now 44 and on my 2nd 12 week challenge with Mark. I’m now at 183 runs and 355 miles logged on NonetoRun . In love with this program and have found nothing like it before or since. Thanks again Mark.

Love this app!

I did the Coach potato to 5k 10 years ago with success, but a year into running, I got a pinched nerve that I’ve continually reactivated whenever I’ve tried to restart a running routine. I decided to try a different training program and found NonetoRun. I’m soooo grateful! I’ve now been running for 8 weeks with NO injury or pain. I’ve repeated some weeks just because I didn’t want to push myself too hard, but I’m so pleased. I also LOVE that it includes strength training workouts for each week as well as plans for when I finish the initial one. Best money I’ve spent in a long time. So glad to be back to running!

The Best

I am a former runner, dancer, soccer player. I was athletic until I hit my 30’s. Then with kids and careers exercise took a back seat. Through my 40’s I started several 5k running programs but struggled to complete them. I ended up completing one of them and running a 5k but then immediately stopped running afterwards. None to Run is completely different. It is a slower progression and has built in coaching and strengthening program which is essential for beginners or aged “re-runners” to prevent injury, develop good habits, and actually enjoy running. I am grateful for NonetoRun-it has brought the joy of running back into my life.

Fantastic for beginners

Since middle school I’ve done just about anything I could to avoid aerobic exercise. I was about as sedentary as possible until my mid-30s, where it became apparent that this (lack of) behavior was going to cause major problems down the line. I’ve tried a lot of “intro to running” apps and quickly got overwhelmed. But N2R’s positive approach and concentration on time-on-feet, instead of speed or distance, helped me gain the confidence to progress. Four months later and I’m regularly running and moving on to the 5K mode! Big props to the dev for making such an approachable and supportive app.

Great tool for runners

I was fortunate enough to be a part of the beta test for NonetoRun and am really happy with the final product. The N2R program and community are perfect for anyone who has ever wanted to start recreational running and NonetoRun is the perfect complement to the running plans. My favorite part of NonetoRun is the open run feature which I plan to use when I’m not on a N2R plan. Not everyone will want to go from beginner to a 5K or a 10K plan, and this feature allows the user to craft their own “program” as they continue their running. Kudos to Mark and his development partner for creating a great tool that really works well with the program.

Took me from zero to runner!!

I absolutely LOVE NonetoRun! I went from a couch potato to an honest to goodness runner. I was nervous but motivated when I started. The program really helps you build a great base to prepare your lungs and legs for your new running adventure. I’m almost done with the beginners program and can’t wait to start the 5/10k program. I can now successfully run 30+ minutes straight and I feel great! Fantastic app and program all around. NonetoRun tracks all of your stats which is really motivating. Great advice on how to advance and how to deal with setbacks. Try it, you’ll love it!

Awesome program to become a runner

The N2R program starts slow and that enables you to build fitness and confidence. Super supportive online community is a bonus. This IS definitely the place to start. I tried other programs but got discouraged and/or injured because they were too advanced for my starting fitness level or accelerated too quickly. That was both physically and mentally hard. This program works and is easy to adapt (repeat any or all of the weeks) to meet you were you are in your fitness and running journey. Thanks Mark and N2R team.

Excellent! One of the best I’ve used

This is a really well designed app. The N2R program itself is great for beginners or those coming back after a long hiatus. NonetoRun works great. It’s simple but has useful features. The run/walk cues work well with your music (your music volume is lowered slightly during the cues) and I love that the data includes both your run and walk pace. If you’re someone who loves a schedule and checking things off a list, you’ll love NonetoRun! And I love the added strength training component. The monthly cost is well worth it! Thank you for making a great program and app!
