It’s super easy to open an account because it’s a trash bank. I transferred money from my cashapp to make my initial funding (my son has Covid and the flu so I NEEDED MY MONEY) and to my surprise this app doesn’t support instant transfers. I have to wait 2-3 BUSINESS DAYS TO RECEIVE MY MONEY!!!! Lesson learned closing this account as soon as I get my money out of it. This was never mentioned and has left me with no money until they put my money in my account! No money with my child having the flu and Covid. I am LIVID. Never again. Horrible first experience. This should be made known upfront that this bank doesn’t do instant transfers!!

Scheduled a recurring payment to a payee I added through ACH . The money was taking from my account to pay the payee but the payee was never paid I called to have this reviewed multiple times and they aren’t giving any clear answers besides they are looking into it has been 2 weeks and still no answers then I try to sign in now it’s saying to upgrade app version or call support and I can not sign in to the account. I ended up having to pay twice in one month for the same payment now I’m gonna have to try and get my first payment back and cancel the recurring payments you would have to be a fool to keep letting an establishment take your money basically strong arm do not trust this bank they are bad for business and will make you look bad do to no fault of your own this is a group of scammers!!!

Mobile upload doesn’t take all checks

I’ve tried at least six times to upload a mobile check deposit from the state of California and I’ve been informed by a customer service rep that it won’t take. And then I need to go back to California to try to get my payment done as an ACH, which will likely take six months at this rate. I used to be a huge fan of this app, unfortunately I’m going to have to look for another option because this is completely inconvenient. There should be some sort of manual override for the payment if you call in, but that isn’t available today.

Truly the worst bank I have ever had to deal with

Multiple attempts to open a 2nd business checking account over months of dropped emails on this app’s end. Couldn’t access or get any of the funds in the existing account. Still can’t get any of the thousands in the account. At this point with over a month passing since the last action claimed my this app I am actually wondering if I’ll ever get any of it back. Really, I can’t recommend against this bank enough!

I am a freelance commercial photographer, and regularly get checks written to my name. After many uploads, checks would upload fine with no issue, I uploaded two checks and my account was flagged for fraudulent activity. They never gave me a reason why, they just suspended my account. Was told they would reach out to me in 2-3 business days, fast forward a week and a half later. I call many times in a single day, placed on hold for about an hour and come to find out my account was closed.
They never gave me an explanation, oh and this was right before a big job. I had 5 people to pay and no funds or account to access said funds.

Save your time, frustration and anxiety DO NOT BANK WITH BLUE VINE.

I signed up for an account and now I’m trying to deposit a check. The deposit button is greyed out and manually entering in the value is a struggle, as the text field adds an extra zero.

Update: now I’m waiting on hold for over 20min and counting to cancel the account I just opened because it’s worthless.

Bluevine won’t let me deposit checks, greying out the deposit button but not giving any error or hint as to the issue. Also, signing up was annoying, as it kept telling me the verification codes they’d send weren’t correct. I tried TWELVE times and then quit. After clicking on the link in my email to verify my email account, it suddenly bypassed the text verification altogether.

Also, you have a note from your web developer on your support page noting you need to add a link.

So in short, your site has errors that anyone with a hello world level of experience with html shouldn’t have missed, your application is a good example of how not to design an app, and tour verification processes are trash.

30min and counting now waiting on hold to cancel this account.

Not usable. Unable to login 90% of the time

The majority of the time I try to login, I get an error message and it fails. I’ve tried using Face ID or my email/password combo. This is mostly frustrating when I’m out and need to access my accounts. I don’t always have my computer handy.

I’ve been a software engineer for 15 years, and now manage a team of software engineers. We realize that building software isn’t easy, and I have empathy for both sides on this.

However, good product managers and engineers should focus on what is useable, valuable and feasible.. the entire app is worthless without the ability to login. Fix the login process or remove Bluevine from Bluevine Store. This very basic necessity has been ignored for too long.

Freeze your account for no reason

Be careful with this app. They will freeze your account for absolute no reason at all and hold all of you funds without being able to use or retrieve it. Here’s how it negatively affected me: - I was unable to pay my employees through automatic direct deposit - I was unable to automatically pay IRS taxes and fees. My account was nearly disabled - I was unable to purchase things necessary for my small business - Daily deposits from my online stores were unable to enter my account - I was unable to purchase shipping to ship orders out Do not trust this app with your money. I reached out to them via email and phone calls but they have yet to reinstate my account.

UPDATE:
They froze my account again with absolutely no warning! They asked me to verify some info because they recently changed banking partners. And I emailed them the info, still not response 2 days later.

Here’s how this affected me:
- my check to pay for my warehouse rent did not go through because of my frozen account! So now I’m in trouble with rent.
- my employees were not paid on time because this app froze my account

Can’t deposit mobile checks

Over the past three weeks I’ve tried to deposit a check four times. I instantly get an email stating that it’s not able to be deposited. I’ve been using mobile check deposits with USAA for over 10 years and I know how to deposit a mobile check. So I send three messages only to be replied to stating the obvious of how to deposit a check. I think there’s something wrong with their app. I called them multiple times, and the last time the gentleman asked me basics and basically told me to start over, and that he couldn’t even see the check images. And then our call got disconnected and he never called me back. I’ve only been with this bank for about two months and have to deposit checks, so not sure if I’m going to move to another bank.

Horrible Experience

Initially had no issues with this app. Easy to setup and use. Out of nowhere, I get a notification that my account is locked pending underwriting. To unlock it, they need a utilities bill with my name on it and a phone bill with my name on it. My phone bill is under another business of mine so that’s not possible.

I am going on 11 days of being locked, even though customer service says 24-48 hrs. You can’t even close the account because it is locked. lol

What a joke! Request these items before taking people’s money. I will never use this app again. Locking our business owners from their money because of their incompetence warrants a class action in my opinion.

App does not work as it should

Once you finally login to Bluevine , it works ok. However, facial recognition is not working and sometimes you get an error message even when manually inputting your password. I have contacted support multiple times. I get boilerplate emails instructing me to go through a litany of “fixes” although I have informed them that they were tried and did not work—suggesting that support requests aren’t really paid attention to unless there are multiple follow ups. Eventually one gets an email indicating a “known issue” but this has been going on for quite some time. I’ve been advised to use my computer, but you can’t deposit checks this way. That is a major feature—if not THE major feature of online banks. Not sure how long to continue tolerating this.

As of a few days post-writing this review, I cannot login at all on iPhone.

Terrible app, slow processing bank

Bluevine is the worst. It freezes or glitches during sign-in (even with finger print) and then locks you out of the account both in app and inline due to “multiple incorrect attempts.” The processing times for deposits and transfers are also very slow. If it wasn’t such a hassle to change banks, I would have months ago. I would NOT recommend this bank or app for small business owners that need to be able to consistently move money around in under a week.
*note that before writing this review I did update my IOS and App and did power down and restart my phone. This is a persistent problem and has been for months. I also contacted their help email and was given the advice to update and restart, even though I’d clearly stated in my email to them that I’d already tried that.
Not a fan of having to repeat myself multiple times.

Terrible customer service

I’ve used this app for almost 2 years. The onboarding is fast. Everything works great when it “works.” When mobile deposit fails, there’s no explantation. You get an automated message to try again. This happens at least 50% of the time from my experience. When you call customer service they don’t tel you anything other than what you already know — “the system failed to recognize the check.”

The last straw for me is having my account frozen without explanation and told that it will take 3 days to review. This is unacceptable as I have expenses to pay including myself. This bank is just OK now that they no longer take international transfers. The customer service experience is enough to not recommend them. It makes no difference if you have 1k or 100k with them. You will be disappointed if you have to call them for any reason.

App always crashing

Update: still have not heard back from them. It’s been months and I can’t regularly access my business banking. This company started off great but ended up horrible. Customer service is almost non existent! ALL email no phone support. I honestly never thought I would miss the Credit Union I was at but I do, at least their banks called me back.

Ever since they change to Coastal Bank Bluevine has been nothing but problems! The main one is Bluevine at least once a week tell me I need to “update app” to log in, problem is my app is always up to date! Also when you try to contact someone you first get a huge list of “Common Problems”long enough that you just get so frustrated in scrolling through them you give up, and when you finally email someone it takes two days for them to contact you back. What once was absolutely convenient has turned into a daily headache.

Absconded with deposited funds, FDIC complaint filed

February 3rd I opened an account, was approved and given the account and routing number. I had a client pay a $450 bill ACH into the account. The next day I transferred $25 to my Lili account to see the transfer speed (a very slow 2 days) then they closed the account without disclosing why. Only this email

Now they still have my $425 but will not disclose where it is or if it is being refunded. So far I have had to file complaints with the FDIC and the internet crime complaint center

Not only will they do whatever they want whenever they want but they will hide in secrecy when they do it. If you need a bank try Lili, Lance or Albert. If you need funding try Lendbox, kabbage or anything else. It is amazing that in the day of Real Time Processing that these cats take 2/5 days to do anything. If you want your funds tied of for days or to completely disappear. Feel free to use this app otherwise, anything else is better.

NOTHING has gone smoothly

I’ve been using them for over a year, in the process of waiting for the last of the firm’s money to come out and closing it down. I’ve had literally no process be easy/go right since signing up. Can’t connect the couple of external accounts I need, so end up having to write checks each time. Customer service is a pain, each time I need to talk to someone I’ve had to wait over half an hour to get someone on the phone. Had issues with the PPP loan, cancelled my app in trying to process it and couldn’t get it to reopen, had zero issues at another lender. App is garbage, literally will not work on the first open. Have to try to login, then close Bluevine , then reopen and it always works on the second try.

They changed which bank they work with, so had a change of routing number and had to go change it everywhere. Afterwards, despite providing and verifying correct information, I have two vendors (one of which is he largest provider that pays me) that are unable to use ACH for me, they get a message saying my account is closed).

I have had enough, again just waiting for my last withdrawal check to close, have already moved everything elsewhere.

Honestly, this bank is the most buggy bank I’ve ever encountered. There services work most of the time, but there’s just so many issues throughout.

One day you scroll through transactions and the page just repeats the same ones you already saw, next you can’t send a payment because you attached a PDF to the bill, today it doesn’t let me login to Bluevine just ‘cause.

They still don’t have an iPad app which irks me, but that’s the same as most mainstream banks too so I can’t really say much there. At least they have an app at all.

Not instant

If you try and connect this acct to CashApp/Venmo type apps, it takes a few business days, not instant.
Uses Plaid but if you try and transfer to another external account you have to send as ACH which takes longer than accounts that use Zelle.
If you are looking for being able to transfer funds between accts instantly, this is not the product for you

Where to begin.
I’m a professional Notary/ Loan Signing Agent with multiple clients who prefer to use Deluxe eChecks to remit payments... wouldn’t be a problem; except this app doesn’t accept “remotely generated checks” which means I/ my company are out a minimum of $5 per transaction since we have to utilize Deluxe’s electronic transfers, or worse, I have to reject the payment, contact my clients’ various AP teams, explain that the bank *I* chose to entrust my business banking to can’t be bothered to honor a legitimate, and widely accepted bearer instrument... then shortly after 1am on 14/ February/ 2021, Bluevine wouldn’t let me log in, gave me the “upgrade your app/ or contact support” so... I deleted Bluevine completely and reinstalled. Should be a simple enough fix... but... you guessed it, same nonsense.
Kind of glad I’ve only cycled a little over $1500 through them so far.
I’ll likely be looking for a new banking services provider in the very near future.

Terrible App & Customer Service

Bluevine is the most basic banking app I’ve ever seen. Can barely do anything on it. Linking bank accounts is about 85 steps and if you do get it to link it will be nothing short of a miracle! And good luck trying to get anywhere with help & support. Their customer service is a joke. Spent a month trying to talk to an actual human being to resolve them randomly deciding to close one of my accounts with no notice.

Terrible disappointment

I started a business account because I just started a small business, and I have had no problems except with Bluevine . Anything I want to do on Bluevine does not work. Linking to other accounts is a bunch of steps; I’m trying to reset my PIN and it’s still not working. Unfortunately I’m going to have to close the account SOLELY BECAUSE OF Bluevine !! it’s so terrible! I need something that I can use on the go. I’m very disappointed!!

Opened a business account because of their enticing interest rate compared with other business checking accounts. However, their app is buggy and keeps crashing.
Additionally, I tried depositing two checks via mobile check deposit and both of those checks were rejected due to unable to read... I tried to reupload them and the same issue occurred. Therefore, being frustrated I closed the account.
Do NoT bank with them as doing business will be very difficult for ongoing needs.

Less than a day and app and website not working

Bluevine and website have both locked me out. App says to download the new version (I just downloaded it today) and when I try to change my password from my desktop, it’s tells me I can’t and that a message has been sent to my email. Yet, there is still no email. Super frustrating. Also couldn’t connect my other bank account.

This bank has been troublesome and I haven't even got to put in money yet also Bluevine is glitchy and the customer service regarding certain issues is lackluster at it’s very best.
I have tried to put money in but for some reason you can’t verify me when I actually did the verification process correct and was verified.
One more thing.
Your app keeps telling me my password is wrong when it is indeed correct. I got locked out twice because of this.

Failed login due to old version of app

When you enter her CORRECT password and you’re running a previous version of Bluevine , the login attempt counts as bad login - when I eventually went to login after updating Bluevine , my account became locked out due to “too many unsuccessful login attempts” ... I only made 1 actual attempt! You didn’t allow me to sign in on the first 2 attempts because my app version was old, not because of a bad password. Poor coding design!

Doesn’t allow me to sign up

Only says ‘Welcome Back’ doesn’t allow to sign up NO LOGIN!!! This is a joke for a company that raised $650M a real joke! If you don’t allow or have a waitlist write it. The home screen says simply welcome back for a new user, and no login or signup or even waitlist option. You guys are really not prepared, guess you been enjoying your fundraise. Will go to Kabbage or OnDeck you guys obviously need to review your app development how could you even release this!?!? You guys have enough employees! A real joke!

Not convenient

You can’t make deposits from your other banks. You can deposit a check which will take up to 10 business days to clear or have to deposit with a third party physical location which you have to pay for. This is obviously done on purpose. Customer service also takes forever to get back to you. I just switched to PayPal business account and life is simpler.

Where’s the support when you need it

I created my online account, linked my external accounts but can’t transfer money to this account from my personal checking. Why? In Bluevine , it doesn’t even recognize that I have linked external accounts. Waiting for debit card been two weeks now

Now I understand all the negative reviews for Bluevine. I downloaded it because as a start up business it was very appealing but I am unable to link it to my Square account or to my personal account. For my personal account after putting in all the info it says it can’t verify. For the Square account, Square says that the this app account is not able to be located.

Ok features but please update

I opened my this app business checking account and it was available instantly. The important features I need are ACH payments and deposits, and this app supports it - but we need some basic features. When a I send a payment to a vendor and request an email notification be sent to the payee, the email should minimally provide the bill number (invoice) that I supplied in the payment form. My vendors cannot reconcile my payments to their invoice - and I have to email them separately which negates the value of this app's email notification. Also, Bluevine needs work so that it is compatible with all iOS devices. My iPhone X works fine, but even on my one year old iPad, Bluevine struggles to render in landscape mode. PLEASE UPDATE the payment features - these are critical to small businesses.

So far online or on our smart phone, we ran a test deposit by taking a picture of a check and it worked., was deposited into the company account., also easy transfer from PayPal to bank account. So far, so good., time will tell how this online small business Bank works out.
