Same issue as many have reported: "An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later". Is there another way to accomplish the application process instead of by this app?
Had the same problems with the app saying "an unexpected error occurred try again later" repeatedly. As someone else on this page suggested I tried using a New Zealand VPN and it worked like a charm. It took only a couple of minutes to enter my application and few minutes more and it was approved. This of course makes "zero" sense since you are applying for a VISA waiver to ENTER NZ...why should it only work if you electronically appear that you are already in the country? The Australian app actually makes you turn GPS on to prove that you are not in the country.
After several days of error m please retry message managed to get both mine and my husband’s application approved and paid for (I can see the transaction on my Revolut app) but the screen is now stuck on the Step 4/4 payment screen with a rotating green circle. Do I dare close it down?
Have downloaded the app, however when I try to advance I am told that an unexpected error has occurred and to try later. I have tried later and am still receiving the same message.
My problem is the same as everyone else's - the app simply does not work "An unexpected error occurred" has been happening for days and it seems that the app providers could care less. Any work arounds that actually work?

I filled out all the questions on the app and made it as far as the "complete and pay" screen. I pushed that button but nothing happened. It prompted me to add another traveler, but there was no place to say "no thank you" to that question. Then the whole thing crashed!
At first, I used my home’s Wi-Fi network but it says ‘error’. I tried using my phone’s mobile data and it works. If you have the same problem, try using your mobile data.

I just submitted an application via NZeTa and the error occured when I was in the middle of payment. The amount for two applications were taken (we are a couple) from my bank account but no confirmation email was received and the app stopped working.

Could I use a friend's phone to submit a scan of my passport, and a pictures of me and my credit card but have the NZeTA sent to my email address or my cell phone? I just downloaded the app and when I get to entering my credit card the app crashes and bounces me out of payment. I get "Sorry an error occured, fees couldn't be calculated at this time" yet on the page before you showed my fees. I tried this on an iPhone and an Android phone and both are behaving the same way.
Trying to enter Visa application for my daughter (15yrs old). Departure from Ireland 25/03/23, entry to NZ 27/03/23. Using the eTA app, but "sorry an error occurred - sorry we could not complete the request" prompt keeps popping up. I have tried entering the details about 7 times each time taking a new photo. There are no details as to why the application will not go through and I have to keep re-entering photo and details each time. Please advise of a solution to this

I have been trying to apply for the NZeTA for the past two days on my mobile device. I receive three different errors. Sometimes it just can't get to the first screen. Sometimes, it's a Network Issue. Sometimes I get "Sorry, an error occurred" message with "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later." My husband got through the stage of scanning his passport but then the app kept "processing" and then timed out. We're arriving in Auckland on February 16 and then boarding a cruise ship for NZ port stops and then going to Australia. What's the problem? What are we not doing right? Both of us are computer and technology savvy but we cannot seem to figure this out! HELP!
I have been trying to use the app for the past three days and I keep getting the 'Sorry, an error occurred." message with the detail "An unexpected error occurred. Please try again later." I am traveling in 14 days so may attempt to do this via the website (for an additional $6 fee) instead of the app as that seems to at least not stop me before I can even start. The whole thing is wonky to say the least as I was able to progress almost all the way back in Nov-Dec timeframe but the instructions said not to apply for it too early before the travel date so I didn't complete it then. Now it just won't work !

I've tried applying multiple times on two iPhones and on an iPad over the last two days. Every time I get an error message. Sometimes it happens on opening, without giving me a chance to enter any data or start working within the app. Sometimes it lets me get all the way to the end, having scanned my passport, taken the photo, answered all the questions, but then I get the same error message and when I retry, I have to all start over. Or pay the higher price and apply online. You should allow people to apply from the website for the same price as using the app since the app isn't working.
