This could be SO much better - revised

Since my first review of Wash, which wasn’t great, I’m revising to 5 stars. To be fair, a lot of the initial problems were due to this being a brand new facility, and it was just plain buggy. The recent update turns this from a sort of ordinary app into a REALLY nice app! The new status feature is wonderful. It just works seamlessly now. Well done, Wash!

(Initial review) First, it IS convenient to be able to pay with your phone instead of having to go to the card machine and load your card. The fact that you have to be standing next to the machines to see if they’re available is sort of stupid as you can easily see them. It’s also really dumb that notifications only work when you’re in the laundry room. Again, I can see the machine. I know if it’s finished. And there’s no timer. Having the machines talk to WASHConnect via Bluetooth really only makes it useful for paying and not for monitoring or reminding. For the payment part, it’s good. Update: I know you are supposed to be able to check the status away from the laundry room, but the message is always “no machines”. Additionally, the notification doesn’t show up for a day or two. I know it’s all supposed to work, but it does not. I can only speculate that something is wrong with our laundry room setup as it doesn’t work right for multiple users.

Predatory app interface and no customer service number

Ive always had an issue with this company because the way WASHConnect works they very obviously try to trick you into adding funds to your account multiple times and then make it very hard to get it back. Ive put up with it because it is the only laundry facility available to me, but yesterday I had a huge issue with WASHConnect . I was in a laundry emergency and tried to add funds to my account. It kept saying there was an issue and not going through and once I even tried a different card of mine, it said i reached my transaction limit even though there was no money in the account. I was able to buy a laundry card through the machine to use, and I checked multiple times to make sure they didnt actually take any of the transactions from my account. Now I checked, and there is 20 dollars in the laundry account that shouldnt be there! Luckily its only $20 when it could have been more but it is the final straw. I hope they give it back even though there is no customer service number to call and I can already tell the entire system is set up to be impossible to get your money back. Lets see if they answer my email…

Pretty Bad

WASHConnect and the washers are barely functional. If you don’t stay in WASHConnect for about a minute after starting your washer, you won’t get a notification for your laundry. If your washer becomes unbalanced, you don’t get a notification; you’ll only realize once you go to put your clothes in the dryer and they’re sopping wet and full of soap, and at that point, you have to pay even more money if you want them washed correctly. There’s also no way to add time to your dryer without being in the laundry room and god forbid you don’t realize your clothes need more time after your time is up. If they’re still wet, you have to pay for another load as there’s no way to add more time after the dryer stops. Oh yeah, the only way to pay for the laundry is to add funds to your account in $10, $15, $25, or $40 increments. No way to just pay per load. Please stop siphoning money from me, I’m a broke college student. Maybe I’d be more sympathetic if WASHConnect weren’t extremely buggy, always showing the same machine 10 times on the list of available machines, not connecting while I’m in the laundry room, and not listing my active machines.

Worse

I read a lot of you guys review and I’m so glad I’m not the only complaining about this stupid and worthless app!! I been complaining to them almost every week because every week I have issues with WASHConnect and machines and this guy came to fix them and he told the manager ( this lady is the only one complaining) I complain because first I don’t have their time I can’t spend 20 to 40 mins trying to get WASHConnect to work and plus I have to keep track of how many wash I made and how many dryers I put why because it always happen the I have a certain amount on my acct and them when I want to use it again my acct appear to be negative they steal money and you should pay attention otherwise they ripped you off!!! And the worse part is that they don’t have a customer service number you have to email them so don’t expect to get your issues to be resolve right away it will take about 2 day or so!!!

THE WORST EVER! Do NOT get for your building!

We have had WASHConnect associated with our machines for a year now- and every time, EVERY TIME I do laundry, WASHConnect fails mid way through. Each time, when it starts to work, I am hopeful it will work until my laundry is finished. But each time I am left with one or two loads of soaking wet laundry and an app that won’t work. After a year I can tell you it does not get better, it does not get fixed, WASHConnect does not improve. You will get the run around, blaming YOUR phone, your wifi, your whatever- when it is 100% NOT your device’s issue, or a wifi issue. I spend more time trying to get WASHConnect to work than it takes to actually do my laundry. A waste of my time, that I don’t have much to spare. I don’t have room for 2 loads of wet laundry to hand in my apartment (and jeans don’t air dry well, be ready for mildewy clothes!) You can refresh, delete-reinstall, hard reset, etc to you hearts content and nothing changes. I’m so fed up I’m actually writing a review because there are no other avenues to take. If you own a building or are thinking of using a service like this- DO NOT USE THIS ONE.

Terrible App

Hi so my property management company dropped this new way of doing laundry without warning a few months ago. One Saturday you’re using quarters, next Saturday you have to be in the laundromat standing with your phone over the appliances to get them to work. Amongst the change to payment method the washer and dryer times were cut significantly. A regular wash on HOT TEMP was 41mins and now it’s 27mins. For the dryer it’s now 45mins (compared to 54mins) default and can only increase the time by 9mins for 25cents. Prior to the modification, a quarter warranted a 12min increase.

On to the mechanics of WASHConnect , WASHConnect forces you to have to be in front of or practically sitting on the machine for the Bluetooth to connect. Even so several machines lose connection for no reason. The notifications that tell me my load is done works 10% of the time—this is no exaggeration. I believe I have to remain in the communal laundry room for the notifications to get to me.

For reloading the card I have yet to run into an issue but I’m not going to hold my breath with this one. I’m guessing the only perk to WASHConnect is that I’m not being charged a fee just to reload the money 🤦🏾‍♀️

Could be so much better

I gave WASHConnect 3 stars because even with the latest update it is still buggy and could be so much better with just a few improvements. View my Active Machines is rarely accurate. I would say that I can actually see my active machines and their status leas than 25% of the time. Even when in the laundry room, many times I have to refresh multiple times for the machine to connect to be able to turn it on. Also, it would be nice to be able to see if a machine is in use without needing to be in the laundry room. We have numerous laundry rooms in our complex and it would be great to see if the machines in a laundry room are in use before walking over. This would allow you to go to one that is not being used perhaps in the next laundry room without having to walk around to each building to find an empty one. Overall, it’s not bad but could still be improved with a few minor tweaks.

By

The improvements they’re making aren’t the necessary ones

Is the experience getting smoother? Sure. It takes my money more often. The “get your junk out of the washer” alerts are more reliable, as opposed to completely busted, though they’re still a crapshoot. “Success! We found four machines!” notifications no longer take up your screen for a good half minute, blocking access to the actual app. Yay.

But I still have to be *in* the laundry room for this to work. I have to haul my laundry down to the basement of my half-block five-floor walk up before WASHConnect tells me if a washer is available (or, because the landlord’s a cheapass who installed one machine per fifteen apartments, unavailable). Hello, at that point I can seeeee thhheee machiiiiiiines.

The makers of WASHConnect market it as a convenient tool for finding available machines. It is not. Send landlords a Bluetooth repeater or something. Until then this is just an app that takes your money … sometimes. Boo hiss.

Meh

I have had to delete and reinstall my app multiple times over the last 3-4 months (whenever this started) sometimes it can’t find my washer and dryer and I have to unplug the washer and dryer. And the most annoying thing is that when search for my machines I don’t need a congratulatory message that there’s 2 machines that stays on my screen for a ridiculous amount of time. WASHConnect does not save me time. I can’t go switch the laundry “real quick” anymore. Convenient? On paper, yes. In reality it’s just annoying. A human doesn’t have to come pick up quarters. So they win but WASHConnect and/or the communication between WASHConnect and the machines make me crazy a good 20% of the time. Restarting my phone to get rid of a black screen on WASHConnect , deleting WASHConnect when that doesn’t work, reloading it. It’s better than it was on day one. That’s why there’s three stars and not one star. I have hope.

By

Mixed feelings

It’s clean because you don’t have to worry about having quarters and you can just load directly from a bank card but you can’t get your money back if there are funds left and you don’t need to use them anymore. It can somehow tell me when the machine is done with my cycle but I can’t find if it’s available from my apartment before that. It has messed up and I’ve had to pay twice for a load. I don’t know which is better, this or the way it was before. I had issues with refund requests for the machines taking my quarters with those machines as well. Still have not received to date. From my experiences, make time and go to a Laundromat that has an attendant to help with any issues at the time. That has always been best. But that’s just me. Good luck!

PLEASE get rid of the “success! Found machines” message

This notification drives me insane and is of no practical use. When searching for a machine (which I can see is available behind the pop up success notification) why do you need to force us to view a “success” message that it found machines?! You can’t close out of it and need to wait a few seconds for it to disappear to actually do your load. This sounds trivial but is a constant micro aggression for almost every user, im sure, and terrible UX design. I would be so happy if just this change was made. Side note - the laundry status notifications are useless. Build in a timer instead of delivering status by Bluetooth. Whose idea was it to use Bluetooth for laundry notifications in giant apartment buildings like bruh. Im serious - whose idea was this?!

I really love this app, but…

Like I said in the title, I really love WASHConnect, it’s so convenient than having to reload a physical card. I can do it all virtually, just Bluetooth to a machine and let’s rock and roll! However the only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star is the issue with the amount I have to reload at a time. $15 is always recommended, I always set it to $10 but I wish I set an amount of $5 or at least a custom amount. If I’m using a machine that needs only 25 more cents, I shouldn’t have to load $10 to only end up using 25 cents.

UPDATE: since leaving a previous review, I gave it time for a later updates and it’s now irritating that y’all added the option to reload $40? I stand by my previous review, I love WASHConnect, but instead of adding a preset amount, give us the option to reload the exact amount we want and not the amount you want us to add. $10-$15-$25-($40??)

Very unhappy customer

WASHConnect and service this company provides is horrible!!! As usual you brag about fixing problems with your machines, dryers and etc. It was difficult and a long process to add your app and connect my phone with your machines. Now your stupid app doesn’t work as usual. There is something wrong with everything you provide. I have loaded all four machines with laundry and washing products, but your stupid app is just a blank white screen today. I’m sick and tired of coming to wash and can’t wash anything due to your failed products or app. I want quarters back instead of this junk you provide. I have had past experience with this same company and you guys can’t get it right yet. I want the previous company back and quarters, because I was always able to wash my laundry. But now you guys make it impossible to wash or dry anything. It’s always a hit and miss with this company.

The last app our building used was better.

WASHConnect is slow and can be in accurate in payment, meaning the machine can basically eat your payment with it actually starting. WASHConnect is slow in between pages, the confirmation page takes a while to get off the screen, then it’s followed by a “you paid x amount” screen that also takes a while to get off so you can proceed to the next load of clothes. You can have 3 machines going and it will only register 1 of them. WASHConnect can be slow to pick up the machine’s Bluetooth. Frankly, the other app was better. It also must sense that I’m About to leave a bad review because I couldn’t even type the review directly on WASHConnect since it wasn’t displaying the text though the cursor showed characters being typed. Go figure.

By

Almost perfect

WASHConnect is superior to coin laundry payments. I love that it has a timer for the machines I use and alerts me when they are finished--so convenient! For the Start a Machine list, the available machines could be sorted by type (washers/dryers) to make the lists shorter, and the list should not list machines currently in use. If internal scales could be added to the machines to detect whether the machine is empty/full, that would be even more amazing, especially if I could see the number of empty available machines at my apartment instead of having to be in the laundry room!

Worked great for timeshare washing

Laundry on vacation isn’t the best but the resort having machines with WASHConnect made it better. No coins to worry about and continuous info on your phone about when your load will be done are the killer features.

Fairly intuitive to get going or at least intuitive enough we were able to get it working. Most control steps take place on the machine, only payment and status info are on the. Doesn’t take Apple Pay, need to buy tokens in $5.00 increments so we’ll leave some money we may never use. But, it worked and made washing on vacation easier.

Reporting broken machines is broken

Two machines are broken and I wanted to use WASHConnect to report them... But the "Report" function of WASHConnect is broken too. After scanning the barcode, WASHConnect thrown an error saying Invalid Machine ID. But the scanned ID matches the sticker... But neither of those match what's shows on the website?? What am I supposed to do with this?

What's more is that I have to enter my full details when I want to report a machine. Thank you for wanting to follow up, but it would be nice to make it easier for people to report machine outages. I mean, they're connected to the internet, right? Do you report info back from the machines about them sitting there not being used when others in the same room are?

Also, how do I see machine status from WASHConnect ?

Honestly, after using your machines at multiple locations over the years, it is clear your company has been investing more in your technical back end. The payments appear to clear more quickly than they did a few years ago, and the website seems a little faster too.

But I have to say: your "boots on the ground" user experience still needs a lot more improvement.

Please keep it up.

The worst iPhone app

WASHConnect is a constant struggle - the biggest issue has been a long standing bug where you can’t add, change, or delete your credit card info within WASHConnect . To do this you have to email their customer service team, who then gives you a link to a website where you have to change your credit card there. This is not ideal at all when you’re just trying to get your laundry done.

To top it off there is no support for Apple Pay or other 3rd party payment systems and based off the quality of WASHConnect I would not trust this team with proper handling of credit card information.

The UI is a entirely different mess of bugs and the development team uses none of the best practices for iOS. If there was an award for the worst iPhone app, WASHConnect would get 1st place.

Acts Up Now & Then, but is More than Made Up for By Great Support

WASHConnect is a great solution to the practical problem of needing quarters for laundry machines, especially in times where we face shortage after shortage of the 25¢ US coin. While this application can on occasion have its more difficult moments, the customer support will be happy to help you.

For example, I recently lost my entire balance due to a glitch, but the friendly associate I emailed helped me by not only restoring my balance completely, but letting me know when the fix was implemented so that I wouldn’t have a repeat of the scenario.

By

Too buggy for something we have to use

WASHConnect is designed by someone who never has to use it. If they did, they would fix the endlessly frustrating bugs—the random 3-second waits one has to endure between screens, the randomness of the Bluetooth “connections,” and the general thoughtlessness of the UI. Our apartments “upgraded” to this system over another app-based system, and while this has the one advantage over that system of accurately marking the remaining time on a load, in every other way it is a downgrade. I spend 10-15 min in the laundry room every time I have to switch laundry just waiting on WASHConnect . A mere annoyance if it were one load becomes a real waste of precious time if you have multiple loads to do in a row. Developers, please fix this! It is beyond frustrating!!!

Going Backwards

My rental unit owners switched from the PayRange app to WASHConnect. An IOS app should do the following in 2021: 1) Accept Apple Pay. 2) Be able to access credit card and name/address information via Wallet if they refuse to accept Apple Pay. 3) When a passcode is sent via SMS it should allow insertion into passcode field from Messages. 4) The password scheme used violates so many modern practices! Only takes 8-16 characters and no special characters at all! This is atrocious and goes back to saving credit card data on a server with no choice of using Apple Pay to protect my information. I hope Apple Pay is an option in the near future instead of having credit card numbers saved to a server. Otherwise WASHConnect is easy enough to use and beats having money on hand.

Better then the laundromats!

I love the concept of using your phone to pay versus trying to constantly make sure we have quarters, and they’re easy to use.

The only issue is we have 11 units in this building with minimum of 2 people, some having up to 5 people or so. One washer and dryer won’t last long if there anywhere from 22-30 people using them. Not to mention we can only do one load at a time. So, going to the laundromat for the convenience of doing multiple loads in under 1 1/2 hour is very plausible.

By

Excellent Customer Service

I’ve been using WASHConnect since January, when I moved into my apartment & today was the first time I had a problem. There was a glitch & I was overcharged. I emailed & explained the situation & provided the machine numbers. By the time I went to switch loads, they had emailed & given a refund, on a Sunday, no less. WASHConnect & service is easy to use & like I said this was the first issue & it was resolved positively in less than an hour on a Sunday. Service like this, truly deserves someone to take the time to leave a positive review.

Unreliable - frustrating when it freezes

WASHConnect will work about 60% of the time. The other 40% it will freeze or will display a blank white screen, or the machines will not appear as available to use when they’re clearly empty. This can be frustrating when my clothes need to go in the dryer and I cannot get it to reset. Even after updating WASHConnect , turning my phone off, closing WASHConnect , and then deleting WASHConnect and re-downloading. I’ve had to ask other people to borrow their app multiple times.

The machines say there’s an option to tap your payment card or apple pay account to pay directly on the machine, but I have yet to make that work either.

By

Garbage App

Garbage app. Almost always has issues like previous reviewers have mentioned: money won’t load, washers and dryers won’t show up...the latest issue is that WASHConnect shows an all-white screen and won’t load. Super helpful when you just wash your clothes and then can’t use the dryer because WASHConnect crashes when you happen to be washing clothes!!!

The developers and company will constantly play it off like they hardly ever have issues or that it’s some understandable issue that they will have resolved. The funny thing is, if you supposedly always know what the issue is...WHY ARE THERE ALWAYS SO MANY ISSUES?!?! I hate this company and wish my apartment company wasn’t giving them business. Garbage company...GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER ALREADY!!!

By

Good app when it doesn’t charge incorrectly

Good all when it doesn’t charge you triple or double on one load. Sometimes it gets your payment but then machine doesn’t work or it charges it twice for one load I’ve already requested a refund on those things and heard nothing and it still happens. Shady If they would just fix that I’d love it!

If they would just fix the incorrect charges where I was charged many many times incorrectly or for a wash or dryer that then that one would work so had to switch to the other one to get one load done snd pay twice. Has happened multiple times. It’s wrong and I expect to be refunded

Horrible App and Laundry Machines

When I try to add more time to the machines, it shows “CONNECTING” and doesn’t connect at all. Other times It will state connecting and take your money and not add time to the machine. Now with the machines time for washing and drying has gone down, but prices have gone up. Small load machines cost as much as bigger load machines for less time, talk about robbing the customers. You’re better off going to a local public laundromat where they still give you good time to wash and dry, and dryers actually dry your clothes. A lot of the times my jeans are still damp and need to air dry, and then they start to get a nasty wet smell cause of this. They need to get their act together and provide better services.

By

The app does not work

There has been an issue with WASHConnect for the last few months. When I email about the issue, I was told it was a known issue but wouldn’t be fixed at least until the next app update. Meanwhile, you have to keep trying to connect to a machine and hoping WASHConnect will work so you can clean your clothes. Also, in the past I had questions about a whole bottom row of dryers not reflecting in WASHConnect and they weren’t sure why. I found out how to fix the issue from another resident. The help center is always nice when they communicate with me but not that helpful when they can’t help resolve the issues.

By

White screen

I had used WASHConnect several time with no problems. Now I just get a white screen . I see where they recommended closing open apps that’s not the issue. It says next to close WASHConnect but then it says you lose your data it’s not clear if that means your balance. I tried that and it worked after I signed back in my balance was still there

By

Zero stars, fix your app!

I came here to echo what others have already said about WASHConnect . It remains garbage and only works maybe 25% of the time. I know it’s not an issue with my device because My device is current and my signal strong, and I can place a work order and that’ll get things back online- but only for a matter of days. This week we had to wait 4 days for the work order to be completed, then the washer worked for 2 days, now we’re back down again. Hard to believe this is sill an issue for your customers when the whole point is mobile payment.

Building I lived in just switched to this service from another that used a card. The APP does NOT work. You get the first screen to register or login or report issue. Then you enter your info, and then get a partial header and WHITE SCREEN. Nothing displays - can't do a thing. Tried to register and login multiple times - same problem. Tried to call - NO OPTION for phone support. I found the website to register, which worked, and then tried that in the App, same issue. Contacted support via the "need help" on the first screen of the app. They did reply, which is the only good thing about this so far, but then they wanted screen shots of white screens - really? That will help you debug the issue that you say you already know about? They say some iPhones have this issue, they *may* have a fix *at some point* but don't really know when. Their workaround - have a spare phone with a different iOS or an android. Really? Who keeps and pays for spare phones? Updating the iOS and looking for updates didn't help. I have laundry piling up and NO WAY to do it. This is by far the WORST app experience I've had - EVER. And I can't do laundry. Do I really need to go to a laundromat because you guys can't create a reliable app? Really? Any manager/owner considering this service - please reconsider this service.

They stole money, and I added funds every month, and the next month was less. The first, I thought I was mistaken but when I checked my activities I saw they take the money.

Not satisfied with your dryers. Too high and then after 45 minutes of drying clothes aren't dry. Then have to put $2.00 in again. High heat doesn't get hot enough to dry but then neither do other settings.

Wash is a poorly run business. The machines have issues, and the software (app) running the machines/service has had issues from day one. The apartment complex I live in switched to Wash Connect, a useless company, early 2023. It took them 4 months to install the machines in this medium sized apartment complex. New cards were issued for the machines, but mine never worked as intended, due to poorly written software. I sent in my card for a refund. I switched over to the Wash Connect app. At first, the building I'm in didn't even show up on the app. One of their repair techs couldn't get the machines in my building, to show up on the app. That technician then revealed that an outside business writes the software for Wash Connect. Next, for the past 2 1/2 months, I can only use one of the 2 dryers, because one doesn't show up on the app. I've even sent in screen shots, which their support personnel never share with each other to resolve the issue. The last straw was loading, putting soap in, and paying for a machine that claims it washed my clothing, but did not! This business has an F rating with the BBB, and a one star rating on Yelp.

We have deposited $50 onto the App...have only used $31.75. SHows a balance of $3.25. I am not an MIT math scholar, but..........that doesn't add up. Can someone explain this?

Crystal   10 months ago

I wish that I didn’t have to use this app but I don’t have a choice because of my laundry facility. This app is confusing to begin with, the first time I used it couldn’t figure out how to start the machine. That’s not even the worse part for me. The worst part is that you can’t customize how much money you want to put and that to me is automatically stealing. It’s really annoying, I don’t need $10 on a $5 load.

JFA   1 year ago

I was forced to download this app to use the laundry machines in my building. Already I have experienced several issues in being able to select the right cycle, time amount, and other settings. Also, after only having this terrible app for two weeks, I've already received notice that there has been a data leak. What a terrible app and company. Use quarters if you can. Avoid this.

This is just an awful app/service. At a hotel out of state trying to get laundry done and after many issues and at least 15 minutes, finally got clothing washed. After about 20 minutes trying to get the dryer to work the hotel staff tried as well and we finally got someone on the phone from customer service. Her brilliant response was too bad; email our tech department. No idea of response time or anything and she just kept saying “unfortunately I just can’t help you”. This was the phone line that they give you to make contact if you have an issue. So for about 30 minutes I am just trying to figure out how to pack a load of wet clothes for a 6-7 hour drive. Hotel finally cleared out one of their dryers in order to keep me from being totally messed up. The app did keep telling me to load more funds if I wanted the dryer to work. There was more than enough funds loaded to cover several drying cycles if needed. Poor product and poor service behind it.

A 14.95 fee was charged to my debit card, by Wash Connect, without adding anything to my balance. Date of charge was 12/11/2021. What was this charge for? Thanks
