Big Mistake

2024-11-15

This is a really disappointing option to replace my viper remote start. In literally a few seconds I used to push one button and within a few seconds I had confirmation that my Prius had started. Doors automatically locked when I used the viper remote start. Now I have a new Camry with remote connect. Frequently I get a message that my request was unable to be processed. It may be my door was not locked. I then lock the car via ToyotaRemoteConnect . Then I get a message that my request was successful. Then if I push start car, oops , not so fast. Can not process request. Wait a bit and try again, success. What used to take 3 seconds and one step takes a minute or more with several steps. And this is when I have a good signal on my phone and when the car has a good signal. On more than one occasion. While away from the city, hiking, dining etc... not able to connect at all, even when I can make a phone call and send text. Really poor system.

Doesn’t work most of the time

2024-11-15

Every time when it’s cold, windows are frosted, or little overcast it won’t connect with the car. Maybe I’m bad luck idk. Considering this is one of the leading brands in automotive sales I assumed they had good technology. I look out side and see all my neighbors able to start there fords and Chevys every morning with no hassle with there phone. Then here is my Toyota not able to start cause it won’t read it half the time. Also when it does start it won’t allow me to restart it why, idk but half the times it does actually start the car is still frosted cause I only get one shot. Then when it’s running I open the door it shuts off. Why? Makes no sense. Definitely going aftermarket like my other buddy did that had the same issues. His works great by the way! All this also makes me consider a different brand next car buying time

Terrible app, rarely works on one try

2024-11-15

Update: A month later of trying to get ToyotaRemoteConnect to work and it still is terrible. Just terrible. Doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. Rarely works. Rarely. Will tell me it’s “unable to process” more than just start my car. It says things like the doors might be unlocked when I have absolutely verified they are locked, the hatch is locked, and the windows are up. It’s faulty to the Nth degree. This poor feature alone will be enough to have me NOT buy a Toyota in the future.

First review: ToyotaRemoteConnect is supposed to make your life easier. It does the opposite. It’s clunky, temperamental, poorly designed, and given to completely random periods of working correctly vs not working at all. There is no logic to when it does vs when it doesn’t work. It takes forever to do the most basic of tasks. Completely unusable overall.

Seriously disappointing

I replaced my wife’s Carolla with a brand new fully loaded Camry XSE V6. She loved the car and was excited about the remote connect app. Took just over three days for her to tell me that she was seriously thinking of returning the car. All because ToyotaRemoteConnect was stinking horrible. It won’t connect to the car half the time. The half it does connect it throws out error after error. I took the car in and had the actual remote start module added just so she could do what ToyotaRemoteConnect made excruciatingly difficult to do. $500 to fix what a free app should have been able to do. That’s not an option for most people. She loves the styling, the handling, and all the bells and whistles this car has but ToyotaRemoteConnect soured all that. Fix ToyotaRemoteConnect and this car would be perfect. I doubt that will happen. For now she just starts it with the key fob.

Does not work when needed most

The concept is good. The execution is very lacking. (1) Communication with the vehicle is very slow even if within a few feet. (2) Settings such as defrost (front windshield mode) is turned off automatically by ToyotaRemoteConnect , so you have to change your vent selection to defrost/floor to clear windshield (3) On the coldest mornings, I repeatedly get an error saying it cannot communicate with the vehicle or “we are experiencing technical issues...” (4) When I try to call customer service, I have to listen to 2 minutes of holiday hours before hearing selection options; then I am left on hold for more than 10 minutes with no response (at which point I hang up).
For the cost, I expect better performance, reliability, and especially service from Toyota and their service provider.

Remote Connect

2024-11-15

My remote connect logs it’s self out and requires me to log back in using my email and password.

While this doesn’t sound to difficult the reality is every time my remote connect has logged out I find out that it’s logged out as I am walking to my car in the cold rain holding groceries and trying to open my car with remote connect. I open ToyotaRemoteConnect (that takes a few seconds) I push the unlock on ToyotaRemoteConnect (that takes a few seconds) remote connect app asks for my passcode or fingerprint and I provide the information (that takes a few seconds) then the remote connect informs me that I need to sign back in on a completely different website! This is crazy!

I wish Toyota would have ToyotaRemoteConnect send you a text or some type of notification as to when your app is going to log itself out so you can prepare for it.

In addition, as much as we pay for our Toyota vehicles these features should be free and come standard with every model that has the system to support these features.

It ok could be better

Obviously ToyotaRemoteConnect could use a lot of modifications.
For instance let’s say a parents own the car but there child(ren) are the ones that drive the car. Yes it is useful for the parent to have full access to the car via remote app, but the kids that drive the car should be able to have access to those same features of ToyotaRemoteConnect .
The parent will be the primary owner of the account and has the power to set those restrictions, and the kids will have ToyotaRemoteConnect on their phone as well so they could turn on or off the car if they are getting out of class or work and warm up or cool down the car before they get there.
To add to this modification the primary holder of the account can enter the kids phone number/cell Bluetooth I.D. so that the car recognizes who is driving I.e. so the parent knows who is driving.

Food for thought Toyota. The features are cool but should also extend to other members of the family so that a parent may also set different boundaries depending who is driving.
Also add an on/off switch on notifications so that I won’t be bothered when someone else besides myself Is driving. Really annoying.

Last but not least, allow certain apps from the phone to mirror on to the dashboard screen. Not cool I can only use scout and not Waze or google.

Love it!

One of the features I needed in a new car was remote start. Our seasonal temperatures range from 20 degrees in winter to 105 degrees in summer, so having a warm or cool car is a definite plus!

I also like the ability to locate the car. I once sent it in for some minor warranty work, and knowing exactly where they took it for the work was nice!

I do wish there was an option to change the length of time the car remains running - sometimes 10 minutes just isn’t long enough, and I don’t like having to pay $8/month for this convenience feature. Otherwise, it’s grand!

Works great on 2018 Camry Hybrid

I almost didn’t download ToyotaRemoteConnect based on so many negative reviews, but I’m glad I did download it. Everything works as it is supposed to. It’ll never be as fast as the fob, but if you need it to work that fast you’re using it wrong. I set a reminder for 5 minutes before leaving work and started the engine remotely to find my car nice and cool for the drive home. Last know location works great. Car status is very accurate; I hit “lock doors” and it notified all doors were already locked when request was submitted.

Love it. Easy to use.

My new Camry is awesome and this is just another example. I had my doubts because I usually park underground in a parking garage. But I use ToyotaRemoteConnect literally everyday to start my car from my apartment with no problem. Sometimes I forget to lock the doors and it’ll notify me by the time I get inside. Then I just have to lock it from the phone. Works every single time.

I see some people complaining but I don’t think they understand it’s only for certain new Camry’s. Oh well, I love it!

Updated and amazing!

ToyotaRemoteConnect is amazing. Very convenient and now with their most recent interface update it works flawlessly. It is beyond convenient when your keys are a fair distance away from you and you can just unlock and lock your vehicle; even start it from your phone. The map has always been accurate in regards to locating your vehicle through ToyotaRemoteConnect , however the remote functions used to lag from time to time but no more!

LOVE THIS APP!

Love ToyotaRemoteConnect! It’s perfect for a person like me who often can’t remember if they locked their doors or not 🤔and you dont have to be anywhere near the car. I locked my doors while I was in Louisiana and the car was in Florida. Also super accurate, sibling found my spare key and took my car without my permission, car finder told me EXACTLY where it was located. My favorite feature is that it works on my Apple watch perfectly! After my 6 month trial, I will be purchasing!!!

Love this app

I absolutely love the ability to start my 2019 Avalon Limited Hybrid the minute I get off the flight. It works flawlessly every time. Thank u to the development team for their great work. I’d love to be able to adjust the HVAC and seat heaters/coolers from ToyotaRemoteConnect . Brilliant ability to control teen drivers, not that I use it. This would make sense as standard on all Toyota’s. I’d limit my teen driver’s top speed as well as operating times and area they’d be allowed to operate the vehicle in.

A little confusing to set up, but cool technology

2024-11-15

I have a 2019 Corolla Hatchback, and I love being able to use this or Alexa to start my car remotely. I’ve also gotten some notifications that I forgot to lock my doors and I can lock them right there in ToyotaRemoteConnect .

Today they just pushed some really cool updates to ToyotaRemoteConnect .

Occasionally I’ll get a “failure” message but it’s not a big deal; hopefully the service will continue to become more reliable as it resolves

Very disappointed

For years my wife wanted me to get a Camry. She knows I like the gadgets. I looked at the Camry XLE. The dealership never told me I& the navigation problems. Boy am I sorry I purchased the Entune 3.0. It’s a piece of junk. The salesman has told me that Toyota is going to make changes in 2019. This does not help me or others who purchased this. Toyota needs to refund everyone who purchased the navigation system.

Buy a Hyundai it’s got a better system. Sorry I did not do this
