I do love the car — it is a 2018 Toyota Camry SE, which replaced a 1982 Corolla. The 2018 Camry is fun to drive, surprisingly generates many compliments, and gets great mileage (35 mpg at 75 mph, 40 at 70 mph. I bought the car to replace a 2002 Camry with 250k miles on it, and was driving 120 miles a day to an assignment, so at the urging of my spouse, I upgraded the car. I did not upgrade the radio, no CD, and no Apple Play or a similar “functioning” system.
I had driven a Kia with Apple Play and thought surely Toyota would have something similarly functioning. Other than sitting in the middle of the dash, there are no real comparisons. It took hours to get this app to recognize my new phone, and then it would not upload the contacts. It said it did, but nothing transferred. By not uploading the contacts, when it said it did, this app would not let me manually enter in telephone numbers. this app looks to connect by Bluetooth, even when connected to the USB port, generating lower volume for calls and content. And of course, replacing this app with another system voids the warranty. Nice self-sealing logic. I love the car - just not this app, and it is bad enough that I am looking to trade to a different vehicle, even moving away from my beloved Toyota - two different dealer representatives look at me with disbelief. It is the product and what it does (or doesn’t do), not the product label that generates value.

I know people start with sensational subject lines, but this is really true. I just bought a 2018 Toyota Camry, V6, fully loaded, and Entune And Entune and its connection to the car is so bad that I almost returned the car. If I could pull the radio out manually and throw it through the window of Toyota Motor Corporation‘s headquarters I would. It is absolutely awful. And I decided to write this review when I went to remotely start my car, I know it is a different app, but also Toyota, and now the remote start app is having trouble, so it won’t start, and we just had a snowstorm and I have ice and snow on my car. I know they say these are “first world problems “but I paid a lot of money for the car, and Toyota is one of the best car companies out there, and I just cannot believe that they messed up so badly with Toyota this app and their other apps, and almost all electronics in the car. When I start my car if the radio is on very loud previously, the radio is blasting and I cannot lower it until everything loads in which is a minute or two. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but if someone is in the car that does not like loud or my music, I can’t lower the radio. Who designed all of this?

Well as the other reviews are stating Entune is pretty frustrating and borderline useless. It constantly drops connections and most of the apps are boring at best. Pandora definitely going to drop when you make or receive a call; assuming most other apps will do the same. Seems the most trusted fix is disconnecting and reconnecting the this app app but that’s annoying and unsafe while driving. I didn’t even attempt the built in “GPS” which was a wise move considering the other reviews on it specifically. Buy a nice bracket for your phone cause you’ll be using that screen just as much as in the past. Speaking of the past, Entune belongs in maybe 2013, pretty sad for the latest greatest Camry which last I checked is Toyota’s flagship and best seller in the USA. Also what happened to the steering wheel control of the infotainment like on previous Camrys? You can’t do squat on the screen once the car is in motion. Yeah it’s a safety feature but let’s be honest, voice control isn’t going to cut it and is a whole other waste of time in itself; who actually uses that button on the steering wheel? We all know it’s possible: do everyone a favor and build in Apple CarPlay to end the misery.

I never had any trouble with the old this app on my 2016 Highlander, but 3.0 on my 2019 RAV4 Limited has never worked. Bluetooth works for using my phone, although getting messages is more difficult than on the previous car, but I can’t get access to the apps like IHeart Radio. I get constant update errors on the car screen. I sometimes get the download error right after the message that it downloaded and installed correctly. I have an IPhone 10R. Whenever I start the car Entune asks permission to connect to my phone I’ve found no way to set it to “always allow”, and when I do remember to stop and wait to “allow” when I get in the car, Entune takes over the phone screen, superseding whatever I’m doing. Even after I’m connected on my phone, the car screen tells me to make sure I’m connected and logged in. Several guys at the dealership spent a hour in the car with me on the phone to this app support with no results whatsoever. I’ve uninstalled and downloaded Entune on my phone repeatedly. That helps briefly and my apps appear for a day or two. I’d use Appleplay, but it’s not wireless...you have to plug in your phone.

I love my 2018, but I LOATHE this app. I’m not hard to please, I just want to be able to talk on my phone via Bluetooth, which is apparently too much to ask. It works about 40% of the time. I tried disconnecting, reinstalling, turning the car and/or phone off and on, and nothing fixes the issue. I even called toyota, and get told to do the same things I already did. The apps also don’t work most of the time, I receive nonstop messages that tell me to download them again or reinstall them, in addition to freezing or simply not functioning. The map app is the worst second rate app, on the rare occasion it works, it tells you to turn after you already passed it, it doesn’t have half of the addresses I need in its database, and it quits navigating and crashes without notice most of the time. I have an iPhone 7 Plus that’s less than a year old and functions fine. My wife tried to sync her iPhone 7 Plus to the vehicle with the same issues. With the frustration with this app, It almost makes owning a reliable toyota not worth it...Apple car play would make this vehicle perfect

I have owned my 2018 Camry for 1 yr now. The this app system is perhaps the worst system I ever had to work with. The system does not always connect to my iPhone. Many times I’m forced to disconnect from iTunes or use my iPhone speaker phone to make/ answera phone call. Despite all the updates for improvements I don’t see much change. Aside from phone calls this app is inconsistent in connecting to my car between stops. Often times when I re-enter my vehicle it doesn’t reconnect to my phone unless I close Entune or turn off the car.
I also wish we had more Options to add Apps. I gave up using pandora on the system a few months after owning the car. Since Pandora is no longer available I can only think they could never figure out the glitches. Although I like my Toyota this system will likely make me get rid of this car in a few years. I wish Toyota would do a system upgrade to add CarPlay for my iPhone. I had rented a Kia while on vacation and the system was 10x better than what Toyota has to offer. Stay away from any car with this app.

I had problems almost right away when I downloaded Entune and got the car. Whenever I do a voice-to-text or someone calls me while I’m in the car (driving or parked) it disconnects so I have to manually disconnect Entune and then re-connected for it to work again.
I’ve had the car for about a month now in the latest problem is that when I try to connect it to the car it’s saying the Bluetooth needs to be synced. When I go into my settings everything is connected and synced. I have to shut off the Bluetooth on my phone and turn it back on in order for it to connect.
My daily life already give me stress and difficulty and in Entune it just pisses me off. Whoever designed Entune needs to be fired and they need to start from square one with Entune because it has way too many problems. I would even recommend someone to fix Entune if I need to it is that terrible. I love my Toyota Camry but with the experience of Entune makes me want to return the car so I don’t have to deal with this crap anymore.

As many others have stated, Entune is extremely buggy and borderline unusable at times. I came from a vehicle with Apple CarPlay and I certainly do miss the functionality that CarPlay provides. It’s a huge disappointment that Toyota isn’t planning on incorporating CarPlay for 2018 models, as I just purchased a 2018 Camry XSE. But live and learn. Hopefully Entune will be improved in the near future.
For those who are having issues with Pandora disconnecting when you make/receive calls through Bluetooth, the issue is that the this app app is sent to the background when a call comes through. If you bring Entune back to the foreground prior to ending your call it will automatically start playing Pandora once the call is ended. This is the workaround that a Toyota corporate rep provided to me. Still this is a design flaw nonetheless and hopefully will be fixed.
I am very disappointed in Entune, especially given how much my new vehicle cost me. Toyota really needs to listen to their customers and resolve this.

After owning my corolla hatchback for only 8 months, I started getting a message that the car was unable to verify my Toyota Account. No changes to my account had taken place whatsoever. This happened with no apparent reason. I’ve called Toyota this app at least six times. Their saccharin- tasting customer support people have no clue what to do. All they have done is ask me to uninstall Entune and reinstall it, which does not solve the problem. The dealership doesn’t know what to do either. They send me back to this app. My car is only 8 months old, for heaven’s sake!! Toyota also has the worst navigation ever of any car I’ve owned. Toyota’s are Sooo overacted. As soon as I’m able to trade it off, I’ll be done with Toyota. I’m never buying one of their cars again. They are crooks draining money out of us with their useless, pathetic apps and Remote Connect services that other car manufacturers don’t trick people into having to buy. What a huge fiasco and deception they put us through. Shame on you, Toyota!!

I bought my first Toyota (2018 Camry SE) about three weeks ago. After a week of playing around with this app 3.0, I regretted getting the car. This does not mean the car is bad. No, it drives well, and I’m sure it will last far longer than my previous cars. But the overall experience is so disappointing! I want to be able to enjoy infotainment system that doesn’t crash every other day (I have to keep logging into this app 3.0 because it’s constantly logging me out!), Scout GPS is absolutely comical (it works the first 3-5 minutes and dies! You expect me to reset and put my destination back while I’m driving!? NOT SAFE!!) Pandora plays well but then gives me error messages so randomly (kept thinking it was because of my LTE availability but realized it plays just fine on my iPhone). So now I have $25K plus vehicle that’s less than a month old and the only thing I use in my “infotainment” system is the FM radio.
Should’ve bought a Honda!

They can’t seem to get Entune right. I have a I phone X and when Apple did their latest update it really messed the system up. When you plug in the USB port the this app just goes grey can’t even use the system. Scout GPS is a joke it won’t even do what it’s suppose to do. I have spoke to Toyota numerous occasions and they said they are working to resolve the issue and they are blaming Apple. I wish I would have bought another brand of vehicle. I have had the car since October and it has not done what it’s suppose to do. I have a 2018 hybrid. Toyota needs to read their reviews they need to listen to their customers. There is not a lot of peyote bar I have found that like this app 3.0 as there are too many bugs in system. I wish I would have got a built in GPS system. It’s a shame that they can’t get an update to fix these issues. I wish Toyota would go to Apple or google maps. They are the only major brand that doesn’t offer that. Please fix Toyota.

Complete waste of time and money. Artwork on pandora doesn’t display via Bluetooth unless you’re in Park, or unless plugged into usb, but if you want to use Scout GPS at the same time as plugged into usb, it disconnects pandora from the car stereo and only plays out the speakers on your phone. The only way to view maps in Scout is if you have it plugged in via USB, but then you get the issue noted above. If you get a call and answer it through the this app system, it disconnects pandora. If you get a text and have this app read it to you, it disconnects pandora. If you start driving too quickly after starting the car, you get a pandora error message and it doesn’t connect without restarting the this app app. If you breathe on the console, it disconnects Pandora... but seriously, this is ridiculous and it’s been a problem for years. Toyota needs to completely fix this or just give us Apple play for free.

The Toyota this app App Suite is barely functional. It is inconsistent in performing tasks linked to my iPhone. Sometimes, I can send and receive messages just fine, but a few minutes later, I might hear a verbal warning about the need to unlock my phone or being unable to complete a requested task. Once the phone is paired with Entune, all communications between them should be flawless, but they’re not. Every time I restart the engine, I have to take my phone out and Allow it to communicate with the vehicle using this app. Why can’t Entune remember previous connections and automatically reconnect every time? The phone automatically reconnects to the head unit every time. Apparently, similar views are held by a lot of Toyota owners, judging from the low ratings average. Get with it, Toyota, and show that you’re the leader in technological innovations as you claim to be.

Okay with a 1.4 score, I am going to guess that no one from either Toyota or Entune developer reads these reviews otherwise someone would have done something about it.
My question: Is it really necessary that the “splash” screen comes on each and every time you start the car blocking out everything else until you allow or cancel ? On top of that it won’t work until you tend to it- kind of dangerous. If you allow it then it continues to block everything else ( even things you may be working on) until you double click and swipe up or select the former screen your working on.
Totally annoying - totally unnecessary.
Then, almost as annoying, is that once it deploys it does nothing - there is no interface or icon. It just sits there blocking everything else. Only accessible from the vehicle. Too much for too little.
How about having it deploy (automatically) in the background and maybe once a month ask for permission so it’s seamless.

The system works fine for me. Haven’t had the issues mentioned in the reviews. However I also don’t have the same expectations for the system or compare it to the point that I wish I didn’t buy the car. And believe me I am picky when it comes to my car’s enter/info-tainment system. I’d rather hear my text messages read to me and not disclosed until I’m at a stop instead of being tempted to view it while driving. Quite honestly I like the fact it cuts down on distractibility while driving. Why is seeing the picture of the song cover “while driving” is a deal breaker?
Overall the system’s Bluetooth functionality and connectivity isn’t perfect but what system is. I gave 4 stars over 5 because it’s not perfect. But then again I’m not looking for perfection 😊
