JBL Compact Connect Reviews

I love JBLCompactConnect but I wish I could get some short 50s style rock and roll echo.

Spent over a thousand dollars on a professional pair of JBL speakers to use for wedding ceremony music and cocktail hours. I was excited to hear these speakers in action. I am using them for “professional” entertainment and have been in the biz 39 years. I can’t afford mis-fires. JBLCompactConnect is really non-functional. Just like so many other reviews…JBLCompactConnect stopped working after a few minutes!!
What do I do JBL/HK? Seriously…what is my next move?…I have a gig this weekend and it’s Tuesday!
Obviously, I will experiment with running a cable, but one of the selling points was being able to stream to the speakers.
My 14 year old sons waterproof Bluetooth speaker is more reliable and works great streaming :-)

Received a pair of Eon Compacts yesterday. App worked for several seconds (Bluetooth mixer) and no longer loads on either my iPhone or iPad Pro. The option to locate and connect to speakers is no longer visible, although both speakers are on and ready. Bluetooth music streaming to one speaker seems to work although it is of poor quality audio with many audio dropouts from both my iPhone and iPad several feet away. Several hours of troubleshooting and research have yielded no results. Fix JBLCompactConnect ASAP, as this battery powered speaker does have potential in remote pro audio applications in groups of two or four, but JBLCompactConnect is trash.

I have been trying for weeks to get this to work. I want to play video and audio media with VLC and have JBLCompactConnect broadcast in stereo. I have tried using a Galaxy Note 8, a Tab 6, a Galaxy Tab S6, an IPad Air (3rd gen) and now an iPad Pro 11”. I pair 1 speaker with the device and start JBLCompactConnect . I link speakers “A” and “B” in JBLCompactConnect and setup BT broadcast for a host (left) and remote (right). Playback is full of glitches, dropouts, speeds up and slows down. If this software actually works I wish JBL would provide some information. Otherwise it is useless for performance. Would be fantastic if it worked. Not what I expect from JBL Professional speakers.

i have the same exact problem as the other two gentlemen or ladies. I just bought a pair of these speakers right out of the box i was able to connect them to JBLCompactConnect and now nothing. JBLCompactConnect only opens and it does nothing. i noticed something not mentioned though, the front LED on the bottom of the speaker is now off when powered on, it comes on as soon as turn the speaker on and then is goes off after a few seconds and yesterday when one speaker stoped working with JBLCompactConnect the one that was still able to be visible in JBLCompactConnect had the LED on.

I purchased 2 Jbl eon one compact speakers. I have yet to test them on an actual gig, but the speakers sound great out of the box. It would be nice to see JBL do a little more with JBLCompactConnect , such as channel mutes and a little more control over the Bluetooth channel when using two speakers you have to go back and forth to each mixer for the BT settings. The EQ pages are great! Overall though a great small venue basic system.

tried ducking+mic/line & ducking+phantom, tried reinstalling JBLCompactConnect, tried forgetting the speaker in bluetooth, tried restarting phone, tried restarting ipad. repeat. change order methodically. no dice. I wouldn’t care about 5.1.4 if not for the promise of being able to send audio via bluetooth without intermittent drop outs (complements of 5.1.2 or JBLCompactConnect or both I dunno).

I can connect a speaker and play music through my phone but JBLCompactConnect still won’t recognize of sync the speaker.
I’m playing music through the speak then when I open JBLCompactConnect it doesn’t even show up. I can do this with each speaker I have but they don’t show up in JBLCompactConnect . Terrible app, interface and user experience.

The only thing JBLCompactConnect does is confirm that there’s a firmware update. Of course, it hangs trying to install the update. Otherwise, JBLCompactConnect is buggy and generally allows zero control over the speaker. Can’t even adjust the gain. HK please fix!!!

UPDATE— new app does allow firmware update. However, it’s still buggy, especially when trying to BT stream to more than one speaker.

Found the magic bullet. Hard reset on the device...while on with all channels selected, press Phantom and Ducking simultaneously until it starts blinking.

Then link, mixer, firmware and get update. I never got this far before but I’m dl’ing the update. It’s slow.

After listening to all the raves about this particular feature, it’s maddening experience its failure!

As with others, it kinda sorta worked exactly once. After that, I’ve not seen several of those screens and pop ups ever again.

It transformed an exciting product to “just another.”

Hope they can get it together soon...

Downloaded app. Found & linked speaker. Worked mostly flawless for about 10 min. Closed app. Opened app back up 5 min later. Speaker no longer linked and can not discover new speakers. It’s nice of it works but obviously not something to count on in a professional setting.

He hit the nail on the head. Able to load both speakers then just one and now none show up, as available speakers. When both were loaded, only able to stream to one OR the other, not both, at least one at normal volume and the other very faintly. Lots of skipping, speeding up & slowing down of the streaming audio. What gives?

Cannot get JBLCompactConnect to work on my iPhone. The Bluetooth does connect and works. App does not work on my iPad either!! In fact the speaker will not even connect to my iPad via Bluetooth. Useless without JBLCompactConnect imo! The speaker itself is awesome but JBLCompactConnect not working is a dealbreaker for me!! On to Bose unless I can get it working in the next few days. 😭😭

I have the same problem as everyone on here. Got today will ship back this week get money back if I don’t get any support. I’ll spend the extra on the BOSE S1, better sound, quality and most of all customer support. Such great potential in these speakers, such a shame.

My son told me to download JBLCompactConnect to keep firmware updated on my JBL Flip5 but there’s just a side bar with a home symbol at the bottom that does nothing when tapped and the rest is a black screen. Is it supposed to pair with the speaker? What is this good for??????

The sound will stall, skip, and at times quit. Very difficult to pair in stereo mode. Very disappointed in my purchase and JBLCompactConnect. The engineers need to realize their issue and fix this problem .

Would love to check out the features but can’t get JBLCompactConnect to connect to the speaker. My iPad doesn’t see the speaker, even though I have Bluetooth on.

JBLCompactConnect won’t connect to neither of my eon compact. I have tried everything and cannot effect the connection. It probably needs some updating

I have spent 3 hours fighting to get the pair of these connect. When they do connect, they go in and out and skip all over the place. Tried my iPhone and iPad and both fail. Have done 2 firmware updates hoping that would help, but no. Frustrating for the ease of how it was presented in the YouTube video. Tech support I can’t even get because it has yet to send or resend my registration verification and yes I checked to make sure it was spelled correct and junk/spam.

Easy to use with my compact!

Cant get bt broadcast work work. Garbled sound between speakers when a activated. Please fix!
