I wanted to like Rubios and it has some potential EXCEPT for where it counts: REWARDS!!! I had accumulated a couple of rewards and when I pressed “redeem” it allowed me to click the option to redeem but would NOT allow me to apply the coupons at checkout.
I read the terms and disclosures properly and was within those guidelines. I have a 2 year old and Rubios would’ve been great for me to order, pickup and go. Instead I had to show up in person like they did back in the early 2010’s and order like most older people do (35+) - mind you I’m 37 😜
My point being is I had to order in person, apply the coupon (which was accepted) and then wait for my order for about 20 minutes... all because Rubios “doesn’t get support that feature” or “yeah, we’ve been having problems with that for over a year now” is what the workers had to say. If the problem is a “known” issue, why not try and resolve it? I wonder how many people Rubio’s has screwed over because of this. I wonder if they know they too can get hit with a class action lawsuit over “false advertising”.
People will be embarrassed to argue over a coupon and Rubio’s would win. I’d highly encourage your company to fix this problem and make it a priority before your company eventually goes out of business with Millennials. Your food is great and doesn’t compare!!! But the service is “iffy” and your app FAILS where it should matter the most.

I love Rubio’s!! The food is great, workers are friendly, BUT it is super frustrating that you can not use Rubio’s gift card for online orders. Come on, It’s 2021!! What is so hard to fix it!? And top of that, if you want to use the $5 bonus cash card at the store, you have to manually input the card numbers because the register can’t read the barcode on the bonus card!! I used to buy many gift cards for every Christmas when there’s a bonus $5 coupon offer, but I won’t anymore.!! It took for ever to use two $5 cash card at the store the other day.
PLEASE FIX IT SO WE CAN ORDER ONLINE WITH GIFT CARDS.

1. I just wish there was an option to write in requests for adjustments on the order to make it easier for people with dietary restrictions or to have the option to have ingredients on the side, so my food won’t get soggy on the go.
2. I’m also so frustrated with Rubios. I’ve tried for at least two months to try to redeem coupons and rewards by ordering through Rubios . I keep receiving the message, “Oops! Your selected reward is not valid for this order.” I’ve selected different items but I still receive the same message. Most recently, I was trying to redeem the free guacamole and chips with any purchase. There was no good reason that the coupon wouldn’t be valid when I’m trying to purchase dinner for my family with multiple items I would be purchasing because of the reward.

Terrible app. Missing menu items. Tried to provide feedback via email but got a terrible response.. something about seasonal and items unique to locations cant be put on the menu on Rubios . What a joke. Hire better developers and make the menu based on pin/location. Regardless of this, I still ordered food from Rubios . When I went to pick up the food, they hadn't even gotten my order. THERE WAS NO WAIT TIME, yet the order was delayed because of this dumb app. They employees was super nice and made my food on faith and then when the order finally came through Rubios , he verified it and gave it to me. Used Rubios once, and never again.

I was quoted a 10 minute wait time for my online order through Rubios . When I arrive I am told the order will take 30-45 mins to be made. The manager says that Rubios makes up their own times and have no correlation to how busy the store actually is. Terribly designed app which sets up local stores to fail. Fix this Rubio’s, you are creating many angry customers that the store level employees are left to deal with even though they have no control over the situation.

At least with “Beach Club” I got coupons that were relevant and useful. Rubios offers nothing of interest so far. Of the 3 food apps I have this is the least useful and least user friendly. Absolutely no incentive to go to Rubio’s with this.
Addendum: Another problem. There is no option to pay with a Rubio’s Gift Card. It’s credit card only. Rubio’s lost my business today again too.
Addendum 2: Months later and still no option to pay with a Rubio’s Gift Card. There are never any updates or improvements to Rubios.

Every time I try to open Rubios , it shows the white wood background and then goes completely black. Unfortunately I didn’t notice if this had started doing this after a recent update. It’s been doing this for at least two weeks, so I haven’t been able to use Rubios since.
Before this started happening, I found the Rubio’s app pretty easy to use and always had successful pick-up orders. I love the convenience, especially the ‘customize’ feature on a menu item. This portion of ordering is so much easier on Rubios than it was on the website.

The rating is for Rubios and the Anaheim I-5 location. I chose this location because online it said they offer curbside pick up. There was no option for it while ordering but I figured it would be in the email. Wrong. Rubios managed to send me a confirmation email when I placed my order but I got no email confirming it was ready or offering me the curbside pick up that was supposed to be available at this location. I called the store several times after the time my order was supposed to be ready and no answer. So I went inside the store, which is what I was trying to avoid, and stood in line and after about 5 minutes I saw an order sitting out on a rack. I walked over and looked and it was mine. I don’t live close and this was supposed to be a treat. Cold fish tacos and burritos. Yum.

Always had to wait 20 minutes or more past the specified pickup time for my food to be ready. So, Rubios is basically pointless — it seems that if I walked in and placed a to-go order, my wait time would be about the same. The idea is great, but if the restaurants aren’t actually equipped to handle it, it just makes for a frustrating experience.

Rubios is really bad and hard to navigate. I wish they put more into making it more user friendly. Also while my address in Rubios is correct, when they direct me to DoorDash the platform has my address wrong and I cannot change it. Honestly just seems like a lazy app that developers haven’t put much time or energy into.

1. The rewards program does not instill confidence in me. It just seems like a way to count the amount of times I visit their restaurant and not a way that actually rewards me for patronage.
2. The order ahead system is not very well implemented although it is arguable that this is an issue with the restaurant and not Rubios . However you will find other apps, like McDonalds handles it in a much better fashion where the payment is integrated with Rubios with Apple Pay and Rubios checks you in to the location to help the restaurant you are actually there.
3. The interface is a clunky web wrapper.

The only thing that’s missing is the ability to ask for dressings to be on the side when ordering. For instance if I order a chopped salad with chicken, I’d like to have the chipotle dressing on the side without having to select no dressing and then have to pay for an additional dressing.
But, thank you for providing an app. Mostly I only want to eat at places that have apps I can use to order ahead.

I've notice plenty of improvements since the launch, many of which should have been launch features. However, there is a problem when customizing the tortilla to "Keto-style" in that the store Point of Sale system doesn't get the option. I've ordered through Rubios 4 times and the store always says there was no change to the tortilla when I select Keto-style. I ordered today and called the store just in case and yet again the option wasn't seen on their end. Please fix this. I'd add it to the Special instructions section if that existed, but that is also not a feature yet. Again, that's something Rubios should have had at launch.

Makes ordering so much easier, but no option to pay cash when you pick the order up! Only option is to pay by credit card ahead of time. I don’t even see an option for using a gift card. I had to call and order over the phone as usual. It’s not useful to me at all without that even being an option. :(

Not happy with the fact you can’t sub black beans for pinto beans or you can’t add protein to your bean and cheese burrito. So I have to skip Rubios and order in the store. Hopefully you can fix and allow all types of modifications. Ok let me add about “nicknames” I’ve tried 5 different nicknames and all seem to be used. Maybe we should use the email attached to the account that signed into Rubios Store???

Rubio’s has become the easiest place for me to get contactless lunch. I order and pay on Rubios , and in the time it takes me to drive over, my food is ready. (Will be giving the specific location five stars on Yelp too.) Easy to customize your order and to reorder a previous one. I just wish there were an option for no side; I end up asking the staff to take the chips out of my bag each time.

I love this app and love Rubios but I can’t pay with the gift cards I had bought over the holidays- only credit card. I can only use the gift cards if I go physically into the restaurant, order, pay with gift card and then wait outside for the order. Please add pay by gift card!!! Even my coupon codes from the holiday box would not work in Rubios . Don't market those of you can’t accept them in Rubios during a pandemic. Thx.

Love the new app! I’ve been waiting for Rubio’s to finally release an app!
Only room for improvement would be to have a “Special Instructions” section. I like have the cheese on my burrito toasted and I can add the cheese as a customizable option but there’s no way to communicate that I would like it toasted. I have been calling the store after I place the order on Rubios to tell them that I would like the cheese toasted on my burrito.
But other than this, it’s a great app! Can’t wait until you get the rewards program up and running!

Add Apple Pay to Rubios for fast and easy transaction. I hate it when I have to put my credit card info and numbers. Still a 5 star though.

As someone else mentioned, app is super awesome, but lacks customization options that I think we’ve come to expect from other apps/order platforms.
I’d like an option to customize my order more thoroughly, toasted cheese, etc, and then Rubios will be #💥🔥.

Rubios has the same problem that the online ordering feature has always had: I can’t modify the sides of the taco plates the same way I can when I order in the store. I can modify the tacos just fine to meet my dietary restrictions, but I can’t remove the cheese from the side of beans. Until I can order a meal for pick up the same way I can order it in person, I will have no use for a mobile app.

Filling out the restaurant feedback form is impossible because it keeps crashing!!!
I get to the description and Rubios hangs completely and then closes!
Additionally the form is difficult to fill in on an iPhone and it doesn’t have an option for providing Feedback on the specific orders. The order was supposed to be delivered with a large $2.79 drink. It show on the receipt but not on the deliverer’s phone!!
So many problems with delivery resolution and crediting!
Also provide ‘app feedback’ won’t do anything unless I use the iPhone Mail app. I don’t use that, it’s not installed. I use gmail.
So I can’t provide app feedback. Instead you get a review.
And how do I get my money back???

When it works it's good but it's more amateur than other food apps. Keeps forgetting payment info. Buttons sometimes don't work. Reward system is mysterious and buggy and you never know what will be available. Design is ugly and hard to read sometimes.

They fixed Rubios so no drink is required so I change my review to 4 star
When Apple Pay is available ... 5 star

There’s no indication if you input an incorrect credit card number, so I was confused for a while wondering why my card wasn’t accepted. Otherwise, seems fine.
