Good but not what I expected

I appreciate the 360 view camera and that I can access mydlink but I am a little let down. Maybe it’s because it isn’t for situations of significance and maybe more just “monitoring” but I have a 19 year old dog that I can’t leave alone. Sometimes I run across the street to Walmart if he falls asleep and I expected real time monitoring in case of an emergency like if he has a seizure or something. By the way, I have an iPhone that’s only a year and a half old, all new iOS updates and no issues. But the camera on the this app app often loads with many delays if I click out of it briefly while grocery shopping and it also freezes. I left to go to a coffee shop thinking my elder pup was asleep only to nice I’ve bee staring at a frozen camera for 15 minutes. By the time I got home (shop was 5 minutes from my home) he was stressed out and soaked himself, I felt so bad. I really wish they’d fix all the issues in mydlink and I’m sincerely surprised that this thing has almost 5 stars. Especially with the level of technology these days. I will look for alternatives soon. So sad.

They’re ok

I bought a set of 2 cameras, they worked perfectly for the first 3 months I had them. One day suddenly out of nowhere they stopped working properly, I get notifications saying my cameras captured movement but when I go to view the recording there’s no recording at all. All my previous recordings are completely wiped out and erased now for whatever reason I’m not sure why and how that happened…I done everything I can to fix this problem on my own….yes I was subscribed for premium package for the cameras but I canceled that subscription since the cameras aren’t working properly now. I’ve reset the cams by app and manually, I’ve unplugged them for 10 seconds and plugged back in, still nothing and I’ve even uninstalled them and then reinstalled them and again nothing. So I sent a email to the company they emailed saying from my description of the notifications I am getting from the cams and no recordings it seems I’m not subscribed for recordings…I’ve emailed back and told them I was subscribed and needed to know what else to do but never heard back from them again so I guess that’s $80 down the drain on another set of crappy cameras!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Fix the app, please!

If been using D-Link cameras in my home for years, so it was my choice when purchasing a camera for my parents. I prefer the ease of use of the this app lite app, but realized the new camera is only compatible with this version. The alerts for motion detection don’t work, (yes the setting in mydlink and phone for notifications are set to ON, and motion detection is on, active area set) and every time they open mydlink it makes them do another “terms of use and privacy agreement” which should only happen once, or when there are changes to the agreement, not EVERY time mydlink is opened. ALSO, it adds a duplicate of their camera installed every time mydlink is opened. So when on ‘multi view’ there’s 18 copies of the same camera, all of which appear to be loading... but never open. When I try to delete them it deletes the whole camera and I have to go through the device set up all over again. I really wanted this to be a good experience for them but so far they are not impressed. Please fix these issues! Thanks

Don’t buy. The app is the worst followed by the camera.

I bought the HD Pro wi-if camera. Everything is disappointing. The night vision is so washed out you couldn’t make out a face if you tried. mydlink is horrible and lacks features. The camera only records 15 second clips to the cloud and there is no 24 hour record to cloud option. That’s with the pro subscription trial for $5 a month. You can’t even set it to record for anything over 15 second clips. I tested it by standing in front of the camera for 40 seconds while talking. It recorded 15 seconds and then skipped close to 10 seconds before recording another worthless 15 second clip. A car drives by on the road 60 yards away and sends a person detected notification along with another 15 second worthless clip. I will be returning this product tomorrow and buying a competitors product that didn’t dance around the truth on their packaging. Too many things wrong with mydlink and product to type here. Don’t waste your money.

Concerned...

I have the DCS-8000LH cameras. I am. I have not updated the firmware because of previous reviews saying it broke their connection. I was able to connect the camera and watch a live view with the DLink lite app. It failed to notify me of any movement through my iPhone. So I thought, maybe this version is more robust. mydlink displays my live view. Seems connected. I want to purchase a subscription to send my recorded video clips to the cloud. Hit “Cloud subscription.” mydlink tells me, “You need a supported this app device to use this feature.” What is this? I think there are some broken areas currently and I am going to take these back unless I am given an exact remedy. My money is important to me and I’m not going to waste it on half-developed applications/hardware in the year 2019. My take is, don’t release the product until it can compete. Currently, this cannot.

Read the privacy terms before installing app on your phone and letting cameras record. Taiwan has zero laws that regulate the handling of data and personal information, therefore it is expected that this company and their third parties can do anything they want with your personal information. This company takes all of your personal information on your device, IP address, contacts information, passwords, and browser information. I mean all of it. Everything you do and have on your device. Everything you record. In 2006, this company was found in court to be spying on NASA and the US Military. In 2010, this company was found to have many flaws that enable hackers to spy and steal information and watch you without you knowing. In 2019, this company was ordered to make drastic changes to their security and fix all flaws. Do not trust a company that has servers in a country that do not abide by any laws. Do not get suckered.

New Firmware

The camera is quite simple to install, The clarity of the picture is excellent, though seems far away from the subject. The problem I experienced is that I had it all set up and a screen comes up and says new firmware do you want to download. I pressed yes and it updated but cut me off the camera is no longer online. The only way to reestablish the connection is to be close to the camera. I am 2 hrs away! It would be awesome if Dlink either warned you that it will require re linking proximity or simply fix the bug so the connection is not lost. 3 stars simply because I was upset. Sorry my bad, it’s not such a bad product. Just under my circumstances we clashed.

Weirdly buggy for such a big company

mydlink is a little quirky. Right now it’s sending me notifications telling me it’s out of date but there is no new version on mydlink store. It used to always ask you to accept terms and conditions but they’ve fixed that. It still takes about 5 taps once you’re in mydlink to view a camera and strangely, the camera doesn’t save a little BEFORE the motion or sound trigger, it only saves a few seconds after the trigger so usually you miss the actual event and just see whatever happened after... which seems odd. Sometimes if I was viewing a camera when I last had mydlink open I need to tap back into the menu and the reselect the camera to start the feed again sometimes still, I’ll need to close mydlink and restart it a couple times to get the feed to open.

Live view

I can only do live view remotely if I power off and power on my iPhone XS. I only works once and then I have to power it off to if I want to view live view again. Didn’t happen til I updaated my iPhone and mydlink . Don’t know which is causing the problem. Dlink support was useless. All they did was tell me to reset the camera and then tell me it was defective because that didn’t fix it.

Fantastic home security without expensive subscriptions!

I had been looking for something I could trust my home with and had tried out a couple of different recommended home securities (like nest, for example) but I hated the subscriptions. I needed something reliable without paying a ridiculous amount of money a month.
Picture quality is just as good as Nest or Ring, the sensitivity is adjustable, and the audio feedback is pretty clear (it would be crystal clear if it weren’t 90° outside because my AC is always on).
I’d give it five stars if it worked with Siri because my home’s ecosystem is Apple-based instead of google-based. It’s not a huge deal, considering the geofencing works perfectly.

Disappointed

Bought this camera and downloaded mydlink hoping to be able to provide security for a church classroom. It requires us to be able to tape the class for an hour. After using a different company’s product, we discovered we could only watch and tape on a motion activated basis for 30 seconds.

I bought this camera, and saw no where on the packaging that there was any such limit. I tested the camera and found that we could observe the class through the IPad without any time limitation. I also copied the image for about a minute or so, satisfied that it went longer than 30 seconds, I thought I had accomplished my purpose.

This weekend we turned it on, and tried to tape, but found that there is a 3 minute timer on the length of the copy. Nowhere in any part of mydlink have I been able to find a warning about this arbitrary length of time. There is no setting which will allow me to change the length.

THis is so frustrating, because now I cannot return the product as it has been too long. Emailed the company with NO response about a third party app or way to change the setting. I will happily change my rating on this if the company contacts me and fixes this problem. It’s too bad, because the image is of good quality, provided good sound, and functions well as a security cam.

Flaky connectivity and sound issues

Remote (internet) connection drops out when switching between views (e.g., rotating my phone for landscape mode). Listening defaults to OFF for each view, for no obvious reason. Restarting mydlink a few seconds after dumping it (due to the connectivity issue) results in a dead black screen. After dumping it again and waiting another 5 s, then restarting, the screen often indicates (by a speaker icon without an X) that sound is being played when it is not. (I’m trying to chart the actual times when my grandfather clock chimes, when I’m away, by watching the timestamp and listening through mydlink . I’m not even sure that the time stamp is synchronized with the sound. But that is the least of my concerns with mydlink.)

App not up to speed and doesn’t support older cameras

I have two DCS-936L cameras a DCS-8300LH and a DCS-8010LH. mydlink doesn’t control the function of the two DCS-936L cameras but they function and are controlled perfectly with the this app Lite app. I can control all the functions and review all the motion recordings on the micro SD card. However the this app Lite app isn’t compatible with the two newer cameras.

The new this app app only works correctly with the DCS-8300LH and only controls some of the functions on the DCS-8010LH.

The cameras connected to mydlink and my mesh network with no problems but they really aren’t usable with out using the old app and then it only works with the two older cameras.

I do have live view with all the cameras on the new this app app but can only control the settings for the DCS-8300LH but even on it, it won’t allow me to save recordings to the SD card so I essentially only have live view in mydlink. this app Lite will allow me to save to my micro SD card and review the videos. The new app doesn’t see the saved videos. If this isn’t fixed soon I’ll replace these cameras with something else and repurpose these for some task with less meaning. As of now I can’t recommend the dlink cameras.

HELP

Love the device, Ive had it for a couple months now. Has been one of the best purchases I've ever made, I can finally keep an eye on my baby girl (from wherever I'm at!!), can move the camera through mydlink , I can even hear and talk to her through it!!.. Well I use too. At first mydlink worked perfect, but for some reason it recently has started going downhill. it's been extremely choppy like it misses every couple seconds of video, it won't let me listen in after I talk to her through the mic unless I close mydlink and go back in. And now it won't let me hear anything in general, even after closing mydlink and reopening multiple time!! Somebody please help me, I would really appreciate any tips to fix these issues.

Fraud! Worst App in App Store

Clearly many of these reviews are fake it people are being paid to positively review. Let’s start just with notifications. Relied on the notifications to see when my dog got into trouble. Nice while it worked. But then they just stopped. I’ve been through it with support, they have no clue. Settings haven’t changed. Thought maybe it was me, but others I know have experienced the same thing. This is a system issue, not a device issue. Why does Apple let this crap go on? It devalues the reliability and integrity of all reviews. I honestly don’t even read them anymore because 50% are fake. I blame Apple.

Notice the only responses to negative feedback from developers is “please send us more info”. Even when someone suggests a new feature, “please provide more description of problem. Canned responses only. Yeah, done that. Won’t waste my time.

Now let’s talk about how slow the video is to load. App crashes when you leave and come back. And when you try to use microphone. And when you move camera.

Get the picture?

Whoever is in charge of development should be locked in outhouse in Death Valley for a week. Their mother probably hates them too.

Locked into proprietary ongoing service fee trap

I want to record my videos on my own home file server. I have a collection of cameras that I want to view from one generic camera viewing app such as xeoma or ipcam viewer. I don’t want to have a dozen apps to monitor all my cameras. I don’t want to have to squander my WAN bandwidth to view/upload my videos. I don’t want to sacrifice my privacy and share my video feeds with God knows who. I don’t want to pay an ongoing fee along with all the others that will stealthily nickel and dime me to death.

Sure the video works fine on the ok this app app. But the package is useless to me. Anybody who wants it can have it.

It is clear that DLink wants to make money from the services they sell instead of their cameras. That’s the business model to milk the most money from consumers I guess.

Would be dead by the time the view loaded

Notification on phone pops up - motion detected - hmm looks suspicious - is it the cat or a murderer? Better go check the normal way because by the time mydlink or the website load - you’re potentially dead.

When they actually load it’s great - clear picture, wonderful (that’s the 2 stars) - but 97% of the time by the time the camera loads (IF it does at all at that moment) whatever the notification was for is no longer in the room (that’s the minus 3 stars). (My Router is in the same room as the worst camera so it’s not that).

I have 4 cameras and 3 more to put up but as time goes on I’m becoming more disappointed in this system

Great picture, low volume

I bought this camera for my mom who was a bit nervous to stay home alone sometimes. It was kinda easy to install and get up and running. The only thing I hate is that the volume coming from the camera is so low and you can’t turn it up! So the people outside have to really listen to hear, it needs to be louder especially for elders who can’t talk loud or strain voices. You can hear loudly on the phone/tablet from outside though. I love that the camera gets every sound it’s just when my mom needs to talk through it.

Lost Control & Functionality—Ethical Questions

Change WiFi password and could no longer use and control my 930, 932, and 933. Dlink required factory reset and new WPS set up to recover. Here is what I lost:

- local management and control of my devices—motion detection and notification using my network, my devices and my email
— now, dlink stripped all of that off in an attempt to push users into dlink cloud services

- 480p resolution (if not better) on all my cameras
— now I only have 240p, terrible!

- ability go manage my network cameras and my network WiFi without going thru dlink cloud to use my purchased devices on my network

I will continue to use my very old cameras until I find a better solution. I had control of my devices, managed my motion detection and notification, had double the resolution and stored/controlled my data locally—now dlink has stripped that away thru a simple change of my local network WiFi password (forcing me to reset WiFi cameras). They got me, but only for the short term. I have a 2310 but am using POE (wired connection) that continues to work properly.

Stopped sending me Notifications

I had a pair of DCS8000-LH. They stopped sending me motion notifications, spent a whole day trying to get them working. Never got it working again, garbage product and app. I work in IT and with automation systems, nothing should be this frustrating to work with. I can view the video feed anytime but when I exit it won’t send me notifications. I never turned them off because when I first got them they did notify me non-stop, but then it wanted me to do a firmware update and that’s when the notifications stopped. Can’t go back to the previous firmware either... GARBAGE. I am so unbelievably frustrated with this purchase especially after my house was just broken into and I feel like I need this at this point to feel safe.

Absolutely love this my sister got it for me and I can push a button saying I’m home and get notifications when im away if it hears something or a motion is picked up and no one is at your house and you can put a contact in if you have an emergency I got it to keep an eye on my kids when I was working and they were being baby sat and you can hear them on it we capture some funny stuff when i forget to turn it off

Very nice camera.

Bought this camera on a whim because I was heading out of town for a few days and our subdivision had been a hub of construction companies for the last several weeks. We knew some of the regular workers but there were plenty new people we didn’t know so I decided to run out and buy this camera just a couple of hours before my planned departure.
Well it actually took me longer to drive to the store and get back and unpack it than it did to get it hooked up to my WiFi internet service.
So far I’m enjoying watching my pets and talking to my spouse while I’m away from them. Great security camera for the price. If it keeps working as well as it has been I plan on buying another one for my cottage.

does not perform / DO NOT BUY!

edit: now featuring the new bug of the week, camera offline, camera online, camera offline, camera online. never get to use it again with this new nifty feature!

multiple issues keep piling up every day. once the camera rotates it does not go back to the same location for home each time it's slightly more off, when motion recording is on and box is set only to where vehicles are only it still records every time the bushes, outside of motion box, twitch from the wind even with sensitivity at 5% it records at different lengths many of which that are longer (1.30) are recordings of nothing and any actual person recorded is only the first 15 sec of what they were doing. "clip not found" seems to be the new favorite bug. app freezes constantly and if you wall mount your camera there is no way to rotate the image so everything is sideways.

Bad. Just bad.

The need to click on agreement to load app when you get an alert and the live feed taking several minutes to load when something could be happening at your home? Worthless. In three days I have learned that mydlink allows a phone alert for sound and motion in an empty room every one-two minutes, and although the camera is set to record on alerts, when tapped, all recordings show an error that there is no file; it appears to a scheme (scam) to direct customers to pay for the cloud. More than that, mydlink only allows a limited number of recordings (which have icons for files that are not available)to be deleted at a time. The inability to access recordings in my sd card, as well as everything reported above makes this company worthless to me. I am returning the camera and deleting this unprofessionally made app.

bought 8525 dlink camera about a year ago

bought dlink 8525 last black Friday 2018, in one year every time I try to use mydlink it goes to loading and if you put your phone down and come back 1/2 hour later, still loading, the only time it will work is when I and at home sitting next to it, sent emails to support, not one answer, for me this is the most useless app I have ever had, I can not see how Apple would have something like this on mydlink store, 1 star is the lowest I can go, in reality I would give it a minus 100, if you want a camera that will work when you are sitting next to it, this is for you, if you want one to watch your home buy something else, no support, not even a reply after a year, absolutely useless

Mydlink problems

Took forever to ge t it to connect , spent a couple hours on phone with cable co, router co and then you guys and after half a day of calls it finally worked a t end of day. Had great cable signal at camera, they checked that when installing.?!Then it was offline for a day and a half last week, and had to reboot power to it to make it work again, so not happy. I am 1300 miles away usually and need to watch my basement for possible sump pump / water flooding problems , my Nest camera in Florida has been flawless for over 2 yrs. I’m cautiously going to keep it but if it fails again I will replace it with another Nest , sorry!

I turn the cameras on and off and can’t reconnect, shouldn’t have to climb a ladder to reset every time and I had to tell the tec support how the camera settings work. Extremely poor
