Professional Grade...

...music production is possible. You have to approach this instrument like a professional to get professional results. You also have to be creative to see the endless possibilities for solid and useful music production with Syntronik. Good sounds and decent sound design capabilities. It’s is worth the money for pros and deeply dedicated hobbyists. There are plenty of nice synths to obtain in Syntronik Store to if you don’t want to spend the money here. Syntronik is worth its price to those that know how to use it. Budget buyers have a lot of other options. So you don’t have to diss Syntronik for being out of your price range. Those reviews and ratings are unfair and unnecessary because people already know the price. The good reviews tell ikmultimedia how to improve the UI and playability and fix bugs.

Long story short: For full price there are nice synths...even better with processing through your choice of fx. Some sound design is here with many presets to get you started. Your musicality and creativity will determine what you get but this is a legit resource for making great and professional sounding music. Integrate it with other gear to get your own unique sound design.

User interface needs a lot of work.

Simply loading a synth is confusing. Instead of just being able to pick a synth and load it, you first have to pick one of the banks, select a synth and select a preset. Then you have to tap the tiny pic of the synth to get to the controls. It’s not exactly conducive to just starting from scratch. And you have to register an account just to access the help file, which is sketchy. I already paid for Syntronik , and this is completely unnecessary and frustrating if you just want to learn to use the thing. To get the keyboard up on an iPhone screen, you have to access a menu and tap the option for Extended, instead of simply swiping from the bottom like a lot of other apps do (or just have the keyboard always up and have the control panel for the synth scrollable). There are some other things that need to be addressed, but these are some of the major ones. I already wish that I hadn’t spent the $15.

Ha potential, but some fatal flaws ruined it

this app is a great app, that gives you many classic synths... but has two flaws that have pressured me to give this two stars instead of three. First off- you pay nine bucks for Syntronik , and only get two to four sounds for each synth, then you must pay $70 for all the full synth sounds. This is just a cartoonishly stupid price for an in app purchase, i mean, that’s why Syntronik isn’t getting nearly enough downloads and attention! Another reason is... I’ll put it bluntly; the keyboard is the most inconvenient ever! It spazzes out sometimes when you play at certain tempos, and with the new update, you have to press extremely hard on some of the keys; if at all! Maybe it’s because I’m using an iPhone instead of an Ipad, but this is still unacceptable keyboard quality! Syntronik would be a beyond great resource if these flaws were fixed.

Not bad and a trip through music history.

Enjoyed purchasing instruments I spent thousands of dollars on during my 40 year Music career. No, not nearly as good as the real keyboard, but I like the ease to splitting, stacking, effect and mixer controls I was able to understand almost immediately. I had a lot of Jam points and I used everyone. Nice that Ikmultimedia offers them. Easy access to registration and even more rewards for doing so. They are a little bit over advertising on every product they offer, but since this app works with SampleTank 3, useful to have that opportunity. This is a 100 percent romper preset playing software. I have been able to do a lot of custom work with the A B C and D Instruments to stack or layer together. I would just use two words, fun and reasonable!🎶🎶🎧

Very, very nice...

I'll start off by saying that if you're a sound designer who likes to dig in depth into classic synths then you might want to look into other versions of those classics listed here. This isn't really a modeling app. There are no oscillators, just samples that can be tuned.

But, if you're looking for the amazing sounds that those classic synthesizers put out with plenty, albeit limited, tweakability then you'll really enjoy these synths. They have done a great job of capturing their sounds at IK Multimedia. The tweaking options include filters, an LFO section and a couple of envelopes, one for the filter and one for the amplitude. Enough to have plenty of fun.

I like to dig into synthesizers once in a while but this gives me plenty of classic sounds with enough customization that I can use them in my own music, to express what I want to express.

The midi options are there as far as I need them. It appears to be fairly robust in those options.

In the interest of full disclosure, I won the full upgrade in a drawing that was held by a loop review website that wasn't related to IK Multimedia. I don't feel my review has any bias as a result but it's fair for you to know.

Sounds great but pricey

The $10 version only gives you a small sample of the patches. It costs $100 to get the full set of sounds or you can buy the synths individually for $10 a piece.

Nice app, but a little misleading

First off, this is a very nice, two-oscillator virtual analog synth with great sounding filters, an amazingly good arpegiator/phrase sequencer, and some really nice effects that plays really well with pretty much any USB MIDI controller.

But it’s not an emulator of the synths implied. All of the “synths” are simply skins applied to the synth engine so they look something like something else. The biggest giveaway is “99”, which is implied as an emulation of the Yamaha SY99. The SY99 is a six-operator FM synth coupled to an AWM digital synth. Yet, the controls are for the same, 2-oscillator synth as everything else.

Frankly, coming from IK Multimedia, I expected better. The free version includes “emulations” of some dual oscillator synths, so it’s not exactly a great guide to what you’re getting in the paid version. SampleTank, iGrand, and iElectric are fantastic products. But this is a ten-dollar-disappointment.

Sounds Fantastic! But such a mess↸⇀↱⇒⇓↨

Undeniably rich layers of analog sounds make this an excellent sounding app, however the UI seems to compound some organizational issues that are present.
Maybe there are just too many parameters within each section .
Maybe there are too many sections - several synth voices multiplied by synth type and synth parameters, an extensive effects rack of up to 5 effects, arpeggios ... each section feels locked away from the others and if you do manage to get multiple synth tracks playing simultaneously there’s no visual cue as to which one you are editing ... maybe it deserves more time and another star, but it just doesn’t add up to other stuff that’s available.

Promising app but needs work!

***WILL UPDATE AS APP IS REVISED***

I was pretty skeptical of the concept but had to give this a chance because CS Box is such a great app. That said, this was a pleasant surprise in terms of sound quality!

Then you are confronted with the fact that at $9.99 you only get two sounds per synth?

The interface, leaves something to be desired and feels cluttered. CS Box has such a direct and intuitive interface. In particular, I wish the synth browsing section was cleaner.

Wish List:

• Get rid of In App Purchasing!*
• MIDI implementation needs work
• Please add MPE (Midi Polyphonic Expression)
• Clean up interface
• Allow for user samples to replace stock sounds!
• Even better, create modules CS Box Style, so you could mix and match components from different synths (ie. Sounds from Wavestation, Filter from Oberheim, Chorus from Jupiter, etc)

* I wish IK and developers would do away with in app purchases, unless the paradigm is free to demo and then you buy all the content as a whole. The price is exorbitant as is but will keep an eye out for this to go on sale!

Won't finish uncompressing

I'd love to leave a good comment, but Syntronik won't finish the setup files. It starts to extract them and shows some pictures while it's doing that, but after 10 seconds it freezes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Syntronik 4 times...same thing each time :( and I'd really like this to work too.

Edit: Finally got it to install! It seems like most of the controllers are disabled until you buy it. It's pretty expensive, but I'm sure it's well worth it if everything works correctly when you but it.

The synth Bully blew my mind! Even with its limited features. With what I 'could' do with this one, it convinced me to want to buy it.

The other synths sounded exactly the same as each other and couldn't get a feel for how each synth is supposed to sound. Being a demo version, maybe let people have at least one original sound per synth to give a better idea of what they could have/be working with, if they paid for it.

Otherwise, this is going to be a killer synth (with a tad more work). Really looking forward to hearing the complete version!

Huh...

I laid down the $$$ for the full version. The preset sounds are fantastic but Syntronik crashes like crazy. Particularly, every single time I tap the fx icon or the volume/pan icon next to it. I'm on a 9.7 iPad Pro running iOS 9.3. All other apps are closed and memory cache cleared. I've already deleted Syntronik and reinstalled it twice and I still get the same results. This iPad will normally run tons of other music apps without any issues so I'm feeling a bit confused and let down at the moment. Definitely the most $$$ I've ever spent on an app but I'd sure like to be able to use it properly...

Some issues so far...

It’s freezing quite often. Keys stick and won’t release, then it won’t make any sound at all and I have to close it down and restart Syntronik . If it worked flawlessly it would be awesome. It’s great when it’s working, but this happens often enough it makes it unreliable to record with. Please fix this. It’s not fun when you’re in a groove and it just stops working. I’d rate it a 5 if it ran without any issues.

Also it won’t allow me to register my copy of deluxe. I can sign in with a browser fine, but when signing in through Syntronik it refuses to recognize my account. There seems to be no way of registering iOS apps through a browser though. Any fix for this yet?

Blown away!

So far Syntronik is incredible. So much packed into the free version.
Id like to buy the full version, one question.
Is there a tutorial on changing patches via MIDI? Specifically i use OnSong, can i use that to change patches when i switch my song lyrics? My guess is yes because you support MIDI right?
if there is a tutorial you can point me to that would be awesome. Killer sounds. I cant believe the sounds from my iPad! Thanks guys

This is going to be good!!

Just bought this a little while ago but so far it's great! The quality of the sounds and the interface is going to make thisa joy to program.
One thing.. to save those of us with little or not programming time I wish you'd do a famous sounds bank for us. A bank that would include those sounds like Jump, Tom Sawyer's synt, some of the Who's signature synths sounds etc...
This is going to be great!

Beautiful!

I love this suite of legendary and vintage synths. Very inspiring and very usable. Presets sound so good. Great interface. Perfect tweakability of synths. Essential yet deep. And the effects are fantastic. Ability to layer synths and is a nice touch. And it is universal an interface that works on an iPhone. The IAPs are worth it. Only synth app I need for recording and live performance.

Really Good But Broken in BeatMaker 3 :(

This is a great idea and execution for a one of a kind AUv3 synth app. Unfortunately the last update broke it in BeatMaker 3, rendering my $40 investment not very useful for now. Constantly the GUI does not show, constantly crashes, and does not always produce sound. Also, you should be able to reorder effects in the rack but you cannot. I will update my rating when BeatMaker 3 issues are fixed.

20 for a 9.99 purchase

Based on a demo add video I wanted to purchase noir. It showed the purchase available for 9.99 but would not let me purchase. It also showed the synth in the included in the 9.99 bundle. I purchased that and The synth is available with none of the presets. That noir button is now letting me pay another 9.99 for purchase. Those pay walls are deceptive at worst, poorly set up at best. 20$ isn’t expensive for a vey than, but this is an iOS toy and the purchase was convoluted and left me feeling ripped off.

Could be better.

What I don’t like is that some of the sounds have the filter and amplitude envelopes sampled so that you really can’t tweak them.

What looks like a bunch of different synths is really just a similar set of filters and modulators with themed skins that styled after different synths but not very different functionally.

The layering abilities and effects section are nice though.

Connection tutorial video needed

Why not to show how to make the connection with something like Yamaha DGX 650 like how to make the connections and to enjoy 😊 I have all these great app but none off then actually shows how to make the connection to the piano or what will be needed depending on the type of keyboard or piano like Yamaha DGX 650 which I have

Link and midi clock support would be nice

having its own virtual midi port, midi clock support and ableton link support would get it that extra star.
