It does what it needs to do....

I have read other reviews, and personally rarely write reviews. However, having used 1Password, and tested others, I was seeking a way to painlessly “sync” my keepass data from one device to the next. this app has solved the issue of copying the data manually, and has done that part well across what it does support.
Yes, the UI coloring is stale - but frankly I would rather a functioning app that’s also dependable and reliable.
Yes this version is a fee. But frankly, everyone putting in time needs to supplement their time. Most apps will release incremental updates for free while major is another fee. But if you are paying to have someone else control your data (encrypted or not), then you are already paying more. (Or not factoring in security).
this app does what it’s supposed to do, what I NEEDED it to do, and I look forward to see how it gets polished.

Just as the app says for security minded

KyPass turned out to be completely worth the money. I wanted to be able to use keepass and have AutoFill. This provided the solution. On top of the fact I didn’t want to pay for a subscription call me old school, but I like to just buy software. When new version comes out and I want those features I will buy the new version.

I also wanted the ability to sync and I had use Shortcuts to sort of achieve similar effect with other iOS keepass apps. This is seamless though. I would recommend to anyone who doesn’t want to go subscription model and wants to control how there passwords are managed. Then this is the way to go. Only critique I have is the GUI is little dated looking compared to the rest iOS, but that’s minimal concern.

Great Password Program

I have been using KyPass for years now. I love that it is something I can share with my husband for personal accounts and it also works on my server for my office staff to share. We have multiple sites that multiple people need access to with the same login credentials pending on the department.

The only down fall right now is that KyPass on my phone is not working correctly when you have the phone in certain orientations. I have to turn my phone sideways a lot just to get some of the buttons to work. The buttons are overlapping when in the portrait orientation. I really hope they fix that bug soon. If that was fixed I would give it 5 stars.

Bug report:

Search field displays dark text on dark background; very difficult to see what user has typed and whether “swipe-typing” has made a typo.

Feature request:

Can you add an excluded characters field for characters users prefer not used during password generation please

Awesome Design Update

Overall, KyPass is fantastic. Everything works how I would expect, and the custom key file handling is great. It has a few minor rough edges, such as extra clicks to swap databases or input TOTPs, but honestly I experienced the same ‘rough edges’ on the more commercialized apps too (likely Apple limitations to data handling). Using dropbox databases with local keyfiles spread between mobile, pc, and mac all works.

Really loving the bigger design elements and updates to the UI. I’m probably more of a “power-user” and have customized every little thing to my exact liking. This now feels more user friendly and more powerful than 1Password ever did.

Stable app but bad usability

App is stable and correctly syncs your keepass databases, however KyPass is seriously flawed in terms of usability and user friendly interface design.

For example, adding a new record to an existing database is nearly impossible and extremely frustrating to figure out! Adding a new entry to a database needs to be an easy and an almost effortless task. This simple and core task is not at all intuitive.

Additionally, KyPass has various other odd quirks too many to mention here. App does not have a polished feel including the amateur looking logo, but I get the sense the developer had the best intentions. My guess is they did very little if any user testing beyond themselves or likeminded people. I say all of this from the perspective of a highly experienced tech analyst who’s specializations include usability design and information architecture.

I hope KyPass gets reworked with a new focus on usability while retaining its stability.

Very pleased everything I ever wanted in a Keepass program

Used other applications for many years on iOS and sort of suffered through them. My phone crashed due to some prankster sending me the Unicode character bug. This gave me a good opportunity to revisit this application. I spent the money hoping it would work well. I have Touch ID, OneDrive sync and just about every other cloud service.

And the developer seems to maintain the application.

Thumbs up. Worth the price paid for an app I use regularly

Supports attachments but crash prone

I bought this app so that I could use attachments, and that it does.

However, KyPass is extremely buggy, it crashes all the time - on record deletion, on move, on creating a new group, etc. It's a crash central. This is somewhat mitigated by TouchID support so reopening is quick, but it's still a major nuisance.

The search doesn't work on special fields. But it's the same in KeePass Touch.

The item details window is a bit confusing. I wish there was a way to collapse the Expiration and History fields to make Notes field more visible. Overall, the graphic design is a bit odd.

And there's no way to launch a browser by typing on the URL, have to copy it & paste into Safari.

It does support direct sync to Dropbox and Google Drive. And in all the crashes so far I had no data loss. So, all in all, I'd rate it at 3 stars and only because of attachments. If you don't need attachments, there are other choices that are more stable.

Where the Manual/instructions?

There’s some things I wish to do and can’t, perhaps in the future.

I’m really frustrated at the moment because of the lack of a manual or any instructions.

OK, You’re suppose to be able to sync to Icloud or Dropbox but I don’t know how and when I try to use Icloud the button keeps turning itself off. What do I do?

I figured out the sync using Dropbox. Not easy without a manual but I managed to get 2 Iphones and 3 computers to sync passwords. The forum helped a lot. Took me half a day.

I don’t know about the support. 3 days now and I still haven’t been approved in the forum thats run by the developers. I understand the company is in Europe. Perhaps their on holiday for a month (last line is supposed to be a joke)

Get it together guys. You talked me into purchasing the applications, now support them (osx & ios)

All in all, if you used KeyPass and have a database the Iphone and OSX app works fine and syncs.

Doesn't work

Sir
I've used your program for many years beginning with the first free version. When that version was no longer supported with ISO 11.0 , I downloaded and went to your V3.
It also worked very well until yesterday when no matter how many times I tried my master password it would not accept it. A message pops up saying master password incorrect. After trying everything possible with negative results I purchased your V4. I followed the directions again attempting to import my data files from Dropbox with the same results Master Password is Incorrect. Please respond to this email to help me to resolve this issue. Thank you in advance.

Crashes when I try to edit (fixed - updated to 5 stars)

Absolutely love KyPass, I've had it for years; however, with the latest update, whenever I tried to edit an entry KyPass crashed. I disconnected from dropbox, dumped KyPass and reinstalled and still no luck. After reporting the error, the developers fixed it immediately! KyPass makes things soooooo much easier

Mandatory if you use keepass

I’ve been using keepass on PCs for several years. I tried a few different iOS apps but they all lacked in one or more dimensions. Then I found this app, which worked really well. And, the latest version removes the pointless startup animation, which makes me a fully satisfied user. I have had a few issues with Chrome integration, but even with those it’s still awesome.

Nice manager but buggy auto fill

UPDATE: dev has fixed the auto fill search. Changing to five stars. Thanks.

Nice manager and been using it a while but the password auto fill doesn’t work for me. If I use the auto fill the results always come up blank. If I open KyPass normally I can get the login info that way. Really inconvenient.

Dev support requires forum registration etc. not going through all that.

SFTP does nothing at all. Support forum fails to register.

Truly infuriating. The credentials and connection details I put in for SFTP sync work in a dozen other places with no issue. In this app, no connection attempt is even made according to server logs.

When I try to remove an SFTP “folder” from the list, KyPass just crashes. To its credit, when you relaunch KyPass the folder is deleted. So... that’s good I guess.

I enabled logging in the advanced settings and reproduced both the crash and connection attempts. There is no indication that a connection attempt was made or that a crash occurred in the ensuing log file. Not very helpful.

Thinking I could get some help, I went to the author’s site and was met with a forum for support. When I try to register to post on the forum, I get an error about directory permissions in the forum software. No help there.

Hopefully Apple will take pity and refund me. Definitely can’t recommend this one to anybody wanting to use SFTP.

Great KeePass Manager

Our family has been using this app for a little over 5 years now, since before the new version came out.

I really enjoy the fact that it supports all the major cloud storage vendors, and the way that it syncs a KeePass file seamlessly and quickly is fantastic. Absolutely love it, and recommend it to friends frequently.

Upgrade not worth the price

I had this app 3 and upgraded to 4. I honestly don't see much difference that justifies paying for a new version. What I find disappointing is that hitting search always causes a crash; starting KyPass wants me to rate KyPass yet I can't since touch unlock makes this annoying request, that pops up every time, go away. Last but not least, the UI, colors, fonts make this look like a last century app. I may be the only 1 of 5 people on the planet who don't want to be on Facebook, but it's also disappointing that it's the only method to get in touch with the developers.

Buggy

Where to start... KyPass is very promising and has good built in functionality but it fails on design (hideous interface) and is very buggy. The main complaint I have is that touch ID is not working, or at least for me. This is a major flaw for seamless usage. I waste too much time on going back and forth and in the end I have type in my master password almost every time.
I have contacted support but they are not responding.
It’s too bad that there isn’t any app that is good enough to use with desktop KeePass.

Excellent App and Developer

In a previous version of KyPass my WebDAV setup wasn’t working. I contacted the dev for support and got a response. Now the issue is fixed and KyPass works great!

I love that I can now login from Safari or other browsers. Very good app and it made replacing my other password manager (LastPass) easier as now I can do everything that I could before, thanks to KyPass.

Need better sorry model

Have had (and paid for) this app for years now, and generally love it. However, having to download a separate gaming app in order to get support for a fairly extensive app is a seriously poor approach to user support. You have a Facebook page - check it and respond to user feedback or get rid of it. You have a website - use it for more meaningful support. Downloading a third party gaming app to report that I keep getting fatal errors EVERY TIME I use search is a poor support model. FFS!

Latest version is good

I think these 1 star negative reviews are hogwash; probably coming from LastPass trolls.

The latest version is working great on my iPhone 8 and Dropbox. No problems have been experienced and it seems to initially load the database quicker than did the last version although I can’t say for sure.
