Do not switch from Midea Air

If you read the 4 and 5 star reviews, it will be obvious that this developer is using bots to create fake reviews. They are mostly gibberish and many of them are identical. It is a violation of App Store rules to do this, but the developer knows that this is the only way to get above a 1-star average for this truly awful app.

This is a huge downgrade from Midea Air and I regret making the change. I have three U-shape Inverter units which worked perfectly with the Midea Air app. Now that I switched to MSmartHome, SmartHome -based control works only half the time. When it does work, it is very laggy (often 30 seconds between app input and the AC unit responding) and routinely requires 3 or 4 attempts before the AC unit accepts the input. This works so poorly that it’s like not having an app at all.

Midea’s choice to utilize fraudulent reviews is enough for me to recommend to everyone to just avoid the brand entirely. Even if the AC units work, why support a deeply unethical company which relies on fraud to make sales?

App did not work at first, but then did work

I originally gave SmartHome 1 star, but in fairness, I am changing it because SmartHome is now working. I was having similar issues to other reviewer’s in that SmartHome was not connecting to the microwave,I was getting a blank screen instead of a list of appliances when I tried to add the microwave manually. Yesterday, I spoke with someone at Toshiba who said they were working to fix SmartHome and that it would be fixed in early July. Sure enough, I tried it today and low and behold, my microwave showed up in the list of appliances! I was then able to connect the microwave and then to connect it to Alexa without any problems. I am only leaving it at three stars because there were so many problems initially and I wasted a lot of time.

Easy setup

After downloading the application I tried to pair the microwave with the router, and on my second failure I noticed that you must press the microwave WiFi button first. Hold this button in until the microwave displays the number 3 then pair it with your router. Now go to Alexa and under skills enable your microwave! First heated cup of coffee and my wife was impressed. We love the bright Led light inside the microwave that comes on when you open the door and while it is heating. They must have updated the clock software because we are on Central time and it stays correct even though we are connected to the internet. I would purchase this microwave again in a heartbeat.

Need to be improved in the basics

Im giving 3 starts to be fair because just started using it and comparing with the Midea app experience. But the first problem arrives just at the first screen. Please add functionality to turn on and off Midea A/C units from the devices main screen without the need to enter directly to each unit management. Is just more troubled for someone that just wants to turn on and off various units which is mostly the main usage. Just without it, is a downgrade experience from the original Midea app and already regretting migrating service before December 31,2023.

Old app worked much better

The new app keeps turning off my pump on my dehumidifier. This makes the continuous run feature useless. When I try to turn on the pump from the remote feature it returns an error that this action can not be completed when tank is full (which is what the pump is for). The unit also sends errors in Chinese multiple times a day which would be fine but I don’t read Chinese. Sad thing is that the old app worked great. Tried sending customer service a note and they said I have to take photos of the s/n, which is fine but I live 200 miles from where the unit is so it will be a month until it can be fixed. You would think they could trace it based on my account and the unit register but they either don’t have the ability or don’t care enough about customers to do the leg work.

New App Is Terrible

Old app worked perfect. With the old app I could stay logged in on my iPad and iPhone so whichever device I picked up I could view and adjust my dehumidifier. With the new app if you are logged in on one device and log in an a second one it kicks you offline of the first device. Also with the latest update I often look at SmartHome and it says my dehumidifier is online and turned off yet when I go look at the dehumidifier it’s on and working properly. And there’s more; after adding your appliance to SmartHome when you open SmartHome there is nothing there then it prompts you to add a device and at some point will populate after you wait long enough.

Midea AC BEEPS

SmartHome eliminated the silence feature to shut off the annoying beeps on my Midea U shaped window AC. I have it on automatic cycles and now it beeps again any time a setting changes or it powers on or off or anything. The button in SmartHome that now appears to have the “led/sound” toggle combined doesn’t actually work. And those two settings shouldn’t be attached anyways. Regardless of having the display on or off, I want the beep to stop. Just put the button back that shuts off the beeping and quickly pleeeeease. I’ll adjust my rating when u do it.

App stopped working.

SmartHome usually works fine. A little slow but fine. I updated my phone and SmartHome hasnt worked since. I’ve disconnected and reconnect it a few times, nothing. Summer is coming and I have no clue where the remote is so I rely on SmartHome . This is extreme frustrating. This is the best ac unit I’ve ever had but the apps used for it have been extremely lacking

Latest update at least shows humidity when device is open.

[Update: the latest update shows the humidity in small print when you open the device. Better but Why can’t it shows it on the main screen? ]

The new update no longer shows the current humidity reading from my humidifier. Sure, I can still change settings remotely but I not seeing the current humidity remotely is a big loss.

Privacy violation

SmartHome allows Sign In with Apple, as it should, BUT when you are setting up your account, you are presented with a mandatory “Bind Email to Account” screen. “No problem,” I thought; “I’ll just enter the private email address Apple created for SmartHome .” So I enter that email, and the developer seems to have anticipated this possibility, so they do not allow email addresses of the length which Apple generates to protect its user’s privacy.
In other words, the developer of SmartHome is using a workaround to demand we hand over our email address to circumvent Apple’s policy strictly forbidding this. Reporting this to SmartHome Store team.

This needs fixed!!

I paid extra to be able to use my microwave with Alexa and because SmartHome doesn’t work I can’t!! It can find my account to reset my password but won’t let me sign in. Here’s an idea since SmartHome seems unable to do the job make an actual website on the internet that customers can go to so they can actually use the product as intended. I’ll be making the same suggestion to Toshiba when I contact them too. If you fix it I’ll improve my review but I haven’t been this disappointed in a product in years!! I can’t believe a name brand would have this issue for so long.

Lastest version won’t remember my login

I came across SmartHome when the Midea Air failed to setup with my Midea Window AC with my home network… with MSmartLife I was able to get it setup after a few tries, though still not easy…
However since last update, it no longer remembers my login credential and always go back to logged out state when I use it the next day… this is really annoying and defeats the purpose of using an app as it takes more time to log into SmartHome than use the dumb remote!!! Please fix it!!!

AC Unit

App works ok, but I would like the ability to stay logged in on multiple devices. Also in the previous app you could disable the beep on the air conditioner when changing settings, but I haven’t found this in the new app. Our unit must’ve reset our preferences because it started beeping again. Thank you!

Not very polished

SmartHome works OK…once you get the right one. They say get Midea Air but want to migrate you to MSmart Home, which is a rebrand from MSmart Life. Registering on your mobile has no bridge to if you want to sign in on a web browser on a desktop. Just not a very seamless transition.

Trash

Old app worked way better. They made me migrate my account. And now it’s trash. Cant even control it on google or my app. So basically not a smart device. Dont buy any of their products so you won’t have to deal with the dumb app.

Great does what it’s supposed to

Perfect so I can be lazy. I don’t even have to get out of my bed to modify the settings or turn on. The schedule system is neat feature too. Reliable and never had issues since I’ve gotten this for my portable AC unit.

Can’t create an account

Got this for a smart microwave, requires I use SmartHome to use the built-in Alexa commands and requires an account to continue, however, when you go to create a password my keyboard disappears every time the text field is focused, can’t login or create an account. Stuck with a regular microwave now, Edit after breaking SmartHome to allow me to sign in, now my microwave displays the incorrect time and I can’t fix it.

Horrible

Midea air shifted to SmartHome and it’s turned on the setting where it freaking makes a loud beep every time you make a change.
Go up one degree? BEEEP
Increase fan speed? BEEP
There isn’t a setting on SmartHome that allows this to be turned off. I’m about to open a dispute to have my ac unit returned simply because I can’t stand the loud beep everytime I want to adjust something on this ac. Horrible user experience , really.

Time Zone Issue Still

I bought a Toshiba microwave which had reported issues with My Smart Life software where the time zone would automatically revert to, in my case, a time zone 2 hours ahead of CST. I was under the impression that this glitch was fixed, but I hooked my appliance up today and the problem still exists. Will this be fixed? I would hate to return this unit just because of that.

Time and Alexa Don’t Work

First, despite other reviews saying the tone issue is fixed, it is not for me. I’m on the West coast and the clock keeps getting set to 4 hours ahead of PST (so an hour ahead of EST).

Second, the Alexa connection doesn’t work well. If I ask Alexa to use the microwave, it says it’s already in use, when it’s not. If I tell it to stop the microwave, it says something went wrong.

Just totally broken.

To use

It's good to use this kind of easy to use for the first time. It's really easy to use. Unexpectedly, it can't stop at all. It's good to use conscientiously. It's easy to use. It can't stop at all
