I used to use VelvetTaco weekly to order but something changed recently and now they no longer offer any means of contacting the courier service. I recently ordered and after 40 minutes the status didn’t change and the only contact info I was provided was the restaurant, which had no idea what the deal was. The delivery time VelvetTaco showed was 10 minutes in the past so I ended up just driving to the store to pick it up myself and then never received a partial refund for the order. I later contacted Velvet Taco directly using their contact us form and never heard back… super disappointing. Save yourself the trouble and use another delivery app!!!

Edit: I sent an email per the dev’s request and was promptly told to submit feedback through the “Contact Us Form”… ya know… the one I was ignored from. Don’t support this company, they clearly do not care.

If you order online or on VelvetTaco , really go slow and check and re-enter the tip amount that you want to leave, because they will enter a tip for you and trick you into tipping the amount they want you to tip. The website takes a tip from you if you don’t go through and check it yourself. You cannot just place your order online and have the price be the truth. They take a tip from you if you don’t go through and check. Not saying not to tip them, but I’m saying they will take it from you. And when it’s an online order, You don’t necessarily need to tip. Or at least it shouldn’t be taken from you.

This is a wonderful app!! If you put in an order, they have this exciting system that prevents your order from being “seen” by the restaurant for 45 minutes. So even if you put it in, drive up, ask for your food, you’ll be given the option to sit and wait or pay for your food a second time so they can START making it. You are far better off calling and saying VelvetTaco isn’t working (which is factual because it’s 45 minutes behind the computer system).

So I couldn’t remember if I had made an account or not, so I just chose to set up a new one. As I go through th screens I get to the one that requires my phone number. I enter it and it gives no option or way to go back in the process and start over so I can pick sign in instead of sign up. There’s no option on the error message to do so either. I tried restarting my phone, restarting VelvetTaco , and even deleting VelvetTaco and still… it immediately brings me to the screen of signing up.

I tried ordering delivery at work today, got my order confirmation immediately with an arrival time of 1:26. I waited outside from 1:20-1:40, no communication that the food was on its way or anything, then saw my order status change to “delivered” but I had no food. The girl I spoke to at the restaurant was very sweet and tried to help, stating the food had been picked up by a driver and on her end the delivery time had been updated to 1:40. She made multiple attempts to reach the driver with no answer. She refunded my order and gave me the number for the delivery driver. Again, no answer. I’ll be sticking with UberEats from now on and only use VelvetTaco if I’m ordering pickup.

I should not have to allow you 24/7 access to my location in order for VelvetTaco to suggest the closest location to me! I have it set to see my location when I open VelvetTaco , but it refuses to suggest a location and makes me search for it. It also won’t load any basic suggestions for even the city I’m in (Houston). And if you refuse to do that, then at least let me favorite the location, not only a very specific order. Fix the location settings and I’ll update my review. Also, I agree with other reviewers, put in bigger photos.

Never again

Although I ordered through the Velvet Taco app, restaurant sent Door Dash to deliver our order (without the incentive chips advertised for getting VelvetTaco ), but failed to give him our address. He called us about 10 minutes after he delivered to other people to say he would be over (now that he had our address).

When I tried to correct the order on Door Dash, it didn’t recognize the order number, the restaurant of me. My food was cold and the restaurant used the wrong tortillas.

The Door Dash driver was apologetic, but it wasn’t his fault.

This is the one and only time I use VelvetTaco . It just isn’t worth the convenience for cold food and incomplete directions to the poor delivery guy, who tried to make it work.

Either get rid of the delivery option or learn to coordinate with your delivery vendors,

No full menu available on App for example
1. No option to order blue chips only from App.
2. While ordering from restaurant, we can’t order fountain drinks
3. No way to mention that I need hot sauce as part of part of take out order, they don’t put it in if you don’t ask, but also don’t provide way from app to ask for it.

Pickup and dine in and table side options need to easier to find. Would be nice just to have a switcher on the checkout screen instead of just “edit”. The folks at the counter had to tell me tableside was even an option. On the points picker if I pick something not in my cart don’t just give me an error saying it’s not in the cart. Ask me if I want to add it, don’t make me go back into the menu to find it then add it.

It’s worth noting for this reviews sake, that I’m a web developer & UI/UX designer of 11 years. SO- first off, the menu could use some work— more info and *larger pictures* pls! Here’s why I’m reviewing— ya know how nearly every app has the same rompey annoying steps you have to take to “register for an account”? You’re usually required to do so before being granted access to do that one thing you downloaded VelvetTaco to do in the first place, which is especially irritating when your goal is FOOD. Velvet Taco friggen GETS IT!
The way the steps of ordering and registration are structured is seamless— order first, and then it walks you through a brisk input of a password. It’s so seamless that I didn’t even notice I had already finished the otherwise usually daunting task of inputting all of my info + CC. It wasn’t until
I was prompted to create a password that I realized what had just happened!
I know this is probably a stupid review to most of you, but as a web professional, I’ve never experienced an app that’s created such ease in the account registration process, as Velvet Taco just did.

App is super user friendly and definitely plan to use it when I return. It would be helpful to have a fountain drink option for dining in. The only choices are Topo and a can of Diet Coke. I ordered my food through VelvetTaco and went to the counter to purchase my drink, but it would be great if it could all be done in one place.

Imagine if every time you ordered delicious tacos from VT, you had to pick up your monitor and set it on its side to complete the order? What a pain, right? Well, if you use an iPad with a keyboard, that’s exactly what you have to do because VelvetTaco still doesn’t have a landscape mode. I think it’s the only app on my entire iPad that doesn’t have a landscape mode. It’s 2024, almost 2025. Time to update VelvetTaco for the current century!

Had trouble removing an item from the cart. It would remove another item at the same time. Selecting one’s preferred location wasn’t alphabetical or easily ordered.

Easy things to fix, hopefully.

VelvetTaco is a great addition. I’ve frequented the old 75 and Knox local for 10 plus years just downloaded VelvetTaco at the Addison location. ?an I get any back credit for years of service? Can’t wait for a location to come to Denton.

Velvet Taco in midtown is my favorite spot. It’s super convenient when I want to order on VelvetTaco and grab something really quick or if I’m in the mood to dine in with friends. The staff are super friendly and the manager goes above and beyond to take care of customers. Not to mention, the place is always super clean.

First time ordering - ate in and everything went without a hitch! 3 breakfast themed tacos were more than I needed but they were all excellent.
Next visit was for a dinner pickup. No problems with using VelvetTaco and collecting my to go order. Super convenient to me hee place so I’ll be a regular.

I’m at the store and the lady told me to place the order for 11am but VelvetTaco won’t let you select that time due to it not being “prepared “ in time, I’m just confused why VelvetTaco would give you that option to select that Time even tho it’s not available to click on it. Anyways that’s my only question

Yummmm! I first tried Velvet Taco as a referral from a friend in Texas. Now I can’t get enough of it and all its goodness right here in Oklahoma!!! Having a Gluten Free menu is right up my alley. Thank You for being so uniquely delicious, great music, an adult beverages available, great laughs with friends, friendly staff, quick service and unique decore. You bet I will be referring Velvet Taco to all my friends and family! Thank You!!!

Downloaded VelvetTaco . Was offered free chips and queso for sign up with a credit card on file. Perk shows available but VelvetTaco did not allow me to use the perk in the first transaction. Disappointing!
Update:
Figured it out. You have to exit VelvetTaco wait for the email and then log into VelvetTaco again. This makes the perk accessible. Great app after getting past this little snag.

I really enjoy the tacos and the new #9 is REALLY good. However… mistakenly, I keep giving the red velvet cake chance after chance…. It’s always dry and sticks to the top of my mouth and I always wish I could return the half eaten piece. It’s not good ): it’s not even half good /:

Please… Velvet tacos owner… find a better recipe… look on google.. call your grandma and ask for her recipe…. (Unless the one your using is hers) please get a new recipe or add a secondary option on your magnificent menu.
