Xcel energy provided electricity to my restaurant in Minnesota. Two months after the business closed, the electrical bill remained the same despite absence of operation and equipment. On top of that Xcel energy charged a random number of kilo watts - in my case 22 KW at the rate of $10.85 per KW; thus, adding $250 per month to my bill. Xcel energy called that "peak winter". When I called customer service to complaint a manager said "we didn't know the business was closed"! Xcel energy bills cunsomer 2-month late in order to avoid verification of meter reading, and to promolgate fraudulent billing

Was great

Last summer this was working great, but now I can’t get off the login screen when I don’t want to log in to begin with! It’s permanently stuck there, even if I delete and reinstall. I choose not to put my account info on phones anyway, too chancy.
Unable to zoom down to “my block” layer anymore. Gee, too bad! That feature was the best part of knowing exacty where the issue was AND which blocks were also reporting out around you. Zooming in and seeing all that info visually was very efficient, and you would know instantly if you had to report the issue or not, and see progress as things got fixed around you. Now, it’s back to guessing if your block outage is included in problems shown.

Underwhelming

It freezes a lot. Have to wait for it to time out and try again or restart XcelEnergy . Or give up and come back to it in a few weeks. It’s been this way for months. Not able to see past bills or payment details. Only way to see (only minimal) past details is in a bar graph chart and you have to click each month’s bar to reveal the data...really odd.

I’d think with xcel being this giant company that they’d be able to throw a few more dollars at making their app closer to a viable alternative to the desktop site. Unfortunately it’s not like there’s another app you can use besides this one.

I can view the current amount due, so that’s useful.

Decent app, no usage info

I'm in love with XcelEnergy but I don't love it. I'm in love with the fact that I can view and pay my bill in a moment's notice. I'm in love with the fact that I can view, report and receive notice of outages in my area. I'm in love with the fact that I can use my touch ID to sign in instead of having to remember my password every time. I don't love the fact that I can't see my usage. I've taken initiatives to make my residence more green and reduce my monthly bill costs. I can't do that with XcelEnergy to see if my usage has indeed gone down. I have to sign in on the actual website.

Buggy

I usually don’t ever have this much of a problem with XcelEnergy . But for some reason it is not letting me pay my bill. Only reason I prefer XcelEnergy is because the password is saved and I don’t remember it. It’s a lot more convenient. It keeps telling me there’s an error then I hit pay bill and it’ll let me get to the next step. However, I do not want to make the payment and there be an error and they still take my money. I’m not sure what’s going on. I tried disconnecting from WiFi and that didn’t help. I tried reconnecting to the WiFi and nothing.

Why

I had a scheduled payment for the due date for the bill to be taken out of my bank account, which was an accident when I set up the recurring payment. I paid the bill early, like I normally do, thinking that would be that and my bill would be paid. Xcel took the money out of my bank account for the bill on the due date anyway even after the bill had been already paid, putting my bank account into negative money. Now xcel has my bill balance as negative which I don’t understand why they would take the money out after the bill has been paid. How do I get the refund for a bill being paid twice?

Xcel App 2020

It’s a super easy app to use! It makes paying so much easier! I can get a text message to remind me how much is due and when it’s due! However, XcelEnergy has been experiencing technical difficulties sometimes. Sometimes I can’t pay right away because it says “their system is not operating right now. Please try again later”. Overall, It works perfectly for paying the bill!

V1.5 Looks Very Good

I just started using XcelEnergy at v1.5. It is well organized and simple to use, yet with a full set of features. It now supports FaceID and remembers login credentials. I’m happy to see that you can schedule a manual payment to occur on the due date. There is a minor bug where if your session times out due to inactivity it gets caught in a loop trying to re-login. I imagine this will be fairly simple to fix.

Functional but clumsy

Yes, most info is there and available but it's a very clumsy app.
For starters, every time I start XcelEnergy it tells me my last session has timed out in a pop up, I click ok, it takes me to the main screen, I click log on with Touch ID, touch, then finally I'm in.
Way too many clicks just to get off the ground.
When I launch XcelEnergy , just present me with the touch authentication and let me get into XcelEnergy with one touch not 5 or so....

No longer works

After the most recent update, I can no longer log in. Comes up with “sorry, a system error has occurred, please try again later.” Been waiting to have that issue resolved, and have actually fallen behind on my account because like many, paying bills through apps is so convenient. Hope it can get fixed soon.

Not IPad Friendly

I like the fact that i can use XcelEnergy to make payments, view usage history, report and receive notice on any power outages in my area. But the only down fall to XcelEnergy it is not iPad friendly. I have a iPad with a keyboard and the screen will not rotate with my screen. I’m not sure if there is something in the further of getting this bug fixed.

Horrible

When it goes bad it goes bad. When it’s good it’s decent . Access to you account is limited and there are never fixable problems . I can’t make a payment . And I can’t send a email to the company. Everything about XcelEnergy needs to be fixed . It takes forever to load the screen even when I’m on fast WiFi and full bars on Mobil data . It takes to long to load and to get my problems fixed .

App doesn’t work anymore - System Errors

For over a month all I receive are system errors and now it won’t even allow me to log in due to some system error so now I have no access to my account or billing and usage info. I’ve done all the usual close, reload/restart everything options but nothing works and it’s just gotten worse now that I can’t even log in anymore. I contacted Xcel. If they get it fixed, I’ll reassess XcelEnergy and this review.

Clunky

Before you open XcelEnergy it is nice to have a touch I'd option, however you need to click a button to bring the touch I'd up. If you have touch I'd enabled why not just bring it up as soon as XcelEnergy opens? Also nice to pay my bills but it always shows that I have two notification icons and I can't get them to go away.

Issues

It always takes a long time to load. It’s not a wifi or internet issue, because this is the only app that constantly has this issue. Every other month it glitches when making a payment. I delete XcelEnergy and that doesn’t fix the problem. I have to wait a day or two and then it will work.
