We have 6 of these cameras in my family. Two days ago all of them on 3 different networks stopped allowing us to view them unless you happen to be on the WiFi network that they were set up on.. So if you are out and and about and want to see a live view or a recorded video when not at home you can't. These set ups are in NJ and CA. none of them work !!

The tech support is in the Philippines and Swann in the USA or AU will not talk directly to the customer. The people in the PI are clueless and are not really employed by Swann. Its a Fing mess. Also the firmware needs to be updated and the camera will not allow an update. AlwaysSafe is clumsy and unstable.

Not sure what a better solution is but the answer is NOT Swann. I bought these to try out the company quality and software before I did a large POE system. Glad I found out what Swann is all about first. before spending thousands.

Constant video loss. Can’t download playback video over 30 seconds long. So the two most important features don’t work well or most time, not at all.

Everything starts out and seems fine, UNTIL there is some movement or a noise , and then it like loses signal and everything just stops. No picture, no sound. It has to search and find a signal again to reconnect, but then as soon as there is movement or a noise again, it happens all over again.
It doesn’t make a difference whether I am on cell phone data, or 4G network. It still does the same thing.
I am about to the point where I am ready to switch systems.

No push notifications

Bought Swann’s NVW-490 4 wifi camera setup for about $500 and they almost immediately abandoned the hardware support with regard to software maintenance and improvements. No firmware updates. No app improvements. Nearly always VIDEO LOSS status on all cameras with solid wifi net and high broadband. Crap product. Crap support. Don’t count on your purchase delivering on value promise.

This has been the most disappointing system. I feel as if I am stuck with a product that is no longer supported. I would not give any stars if I could.

AlwaysSafe is unreliable. The cameras are par, but every time I look, the cams are out. When needed most, the footage was not clear enough to identify and that really defeats the purpose.

So disappointed.

Plus, the camera itself is great and the rotation feature is welcome. Negative: everything else. It only works when you're on the same WiFi network as the camera this defeating a prior of being able to view from any location. I'm a seasoned IT professional. Even rebooted and deleted it a few times with the same results. This is a joke. Will be returning it!

This is by far the worst app I have ever used. Camera says WiFi but it’s anything but. Set it up with Ethernet and get to the WiFi setting that way and AlwaysSafe crashes. The 24/7 support is a farce. The number refers you to the website. Just so they can take their sweet time in responding as I am still awaiting a fix. Would leave a zero if I could.

AlwaysSafe doesn’t work very well, it doesn’t find cameras half the time. I’m considering returning this system because it makes no sense if you can’t monitor your cameras from your phone.

I don’t see the point in owning a device such as this without motion activated push notifications to my phone..
however the stream quality and control are very useful. I was able to pan the camera from another state.
But still.. motion activated push notifications for unexpected visitors would be an ideal feature for future updates.

The motion alarm isn’t useful if you have pets.. it’ll just blare continuously.. And email notifications aren’t great either. I end up getting 100 emails a day of dust floating past the camera. Not useful. I stand by my original post and suggest the developer figure out how to implement push notifications.

Your app is trash! I’ve had these cameras for two weeks now and this is the third time AlwaysSafe has just deleted my cameras off AlwaysSafe and I can no longer view them. I work 12-16 hour shifts and can’t be home all the time. Fix your app!

App doesn’t work. Cameras work pretty good except when they go black for a while but when they do work it’s a nice shot. Has potential but not worth the money.

Won’t work on cellular service, only if you’re home on the network it’s connected to! Will tilt and pan on Wi-Fi but again, only works on home Wi-Fi!!! What’s the point???

No matter what email or server I used the email notifications fail. It’s so aggravating!!

The camera is amazing, but AlwaysSafe looks nothing like pictured and there’s no possible way from AlwaysSafe to do a play back like it shows on AlwaysSafe previews

When it works it’s great, however it has been very unreliable at times. I would expect with todays tech they would be able to work the glitches out.

AlwaysSafe works OK. Not great, but it’s functional for viewing recordings and live. What is frustrating is between the 2 APPs that will work with my NVR16 7400, neither can download the video files to my iPhone. It has the feature to download, and when you try, it says it completes, but then it’s not in the photo library. The screen capture works fine, so I know AlwaysSafe can access my photo library. Very frustrating.

Note: As of 11/15/2019 this is still an issue.

The cameras are working well. The only problem that i have is that i can’t activate the push alert on AlwaysSafe . Thanks

I love my pan and tilt camera! However, AlwaysSafe takes forever to load to view and fails almost every time I try to view from my phone, at least 1-2 times. I’m considering purchasing another unit but AlwaysSafe is making me have second thoughts. Please update!

Far better than the last Swann app. The biggest problem I have with this is that when playing recorded video, it will only start from beginning of the motion detected clip. So, if I have a 20 minute recording, I have to watch it from the beginning, I can not scroll to another part of the recording. I am rating this 3 stars because the last Swann app was so bad, this is a big step.
