Feedback after a quick 3 minutes of playing.

Feedback: I just played NoteQuest for a few mins. While playing Game Drills and having to find the correct note on the keyboard while seeing the note on the staff, when you turn the phone landscape, it expands the piano keyboard, but the grand staff isn’t fully shown. So when I have to choose the correct Bass Clef note, I’m unable to see which note it wants me to find. You should shrink the grand staff to accommodate it otherwise you can only see the Treble Clef and the very top portion of the Bass Clef.

You should also allow us to disable the microphone while using the virtual piano keyboard. There’s no need for a microphone while using that feature. It drains battery faster and it feels a little unsettling knowing that it’s listening when not needed.

I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro Max and was using the virtual piano keyboard, if it helps you to determine how to fix this. This is just my initial feedback, will update the review at a later time. 3 stars for now.

Very effective learning app!

I use this app every single day in my piano studio, and encourage parents to purchase for their students. Favorite feature (for both teacher and students) is Note Selector. When students build their own drills for problem areas, they are excited and empowered, rather than frustrated. This is a Must Have Tool for anyone learning to play piano! I highly recommend.

Hope for Problem Readers

Grace Lee has managed to pull off a minor miracle here with this ingenious app! Just when I thought there was no hope for some of my students who were problem readers, the software worked its magic and got them to look at pitches and rhythms in novel ways.

Doesn't work well

Needed to get back to tutorial; not possible. No explanation why until I come here and see negative reviews. Bad design. Don't worry about a main portion of NoteQuest being intrusive; make a button to get there. Can't ever pass a test because it doesn't recognize middle C, on a Steinway! Glad I didn't shell out money for the pro version, though that and rating NoteQuest are the only way to possibly avoid constant harassment. Giving it two stars rather than 1 because it seems like it might help but it just wasn't implemented well.

Expected more

Has potential, extremely disappointed that there is only 2 octaves above and below middle C for piano. The reason I purchased was to help my more advanced students learn and memorize the the really low and high notes. There should be more options to set amount of time, arrange created levels etc. Purchasing was very confusing, too many options for buying and subscriptions.

Just what I’ve been looking for!

This sight reading app is very well thought out! I love the landmark notes & intervallic approach. In the note fit section the attractive excerpts help my students learn to see patterns in the music. I love being able to design my own levels on the note class section! NoteQuest fills a gap in my teaching curriculum! Bravo!

Fantastic!!

This is my new favorite app, recommended by my piano teacher. I love how simple and systematic it is. It drills the notes I need to learn. It’s really helping me improve my speed with note reading with Note Fit. I’m moving through the sight reading levels beginning with Primer. Highly recommend it!

Best piano teaching app ever !

NoteQuest actually teaches you the notes and you can proceed to each new lesson at your own pace. A great way to acquire a new skill while actually playing and learning to read musical notes and the piano keyboard. Congratulations to the developer. You hit a home run on this one !!

User friendly app

I downloaded NoteQuest after my wife’s friend told her to do so for our kids. My kids are 7 and 11 and NoteQuest has been very helpful in the piano learning experience. I recommend NoteQuest to others

Super frustrated by this app

Wish I could get my money back. The very first time I entered NoteQuest , it showed me a nice little tutorial for the note names and where the notes are located on the staff. Great for my 8 year old! The next time we entered NoteQuest , that tutorial had disappeared. Thought maybe it was because I had to pay for it, so I reluctantly shelled out the money. Nope. No tutorials, only the game which makes you guess at the entire thing and doesn’t teach anything. Very frustrating, especially for a new learner.

Doesn't recognize lower notes on piano

I really like NoteQuest and it is working well for notes from middle C up. However from F down I have to hit the note four or five times before NoteQuest recognizes it and allows me to proceed.

I have tried turning the electric piano volume up to the max and putting the iPad close to the speakers but no improvement seen.

Any suggestions welcome.

Note Selector great idea

I like the way you can choose your own notes to practice. The ability to select focused drills that I choose has been great. This was a positive addition to NoteQuest .

Very Easy to use and comprehend

I’m a visual learner and NoteQuest is a very simple step-by-step learning tool that does not overwhelm. It is easy to understand and makes learning an instrument and music very enjoyable and fun! Highly recommend!

Practical!

A simple, fun app to help in re-learning notes, sight reading & playing the piano. We love it!

Great idea, left wanting

I paid for the yearly subscription, but am disappointed. NoteQuest won’t recognize the notes on an acoustic, in tune piano, nor a digital. Only the virtual piano is functional.

Also, I’m disappointed to find that very few levels are included in the yearly subscription and the rhythm section isn’t even ready yet. Not enough material to justify the cost.

The sight reading cards are great, but without a teacher they are useless as well. There’s no feedback to know if the notes and rhythm were played correctly.

NoteQuest is well made, except for the note recognition feature, and the content is not sufficient.

No pricing

I downloaded NoteQuest to consider it as a teaching tool for my students but not only is there a very small amount of free exercises, when it suggests that you upgrade there is no price given. I searched the entire app and the website and there is no pricing anywhere. Im not going to make a purchase if I don’t know how much it is.

Program stops when answer selected

every time I select the answer to a quiz question, it throws me out of the program and i have to sign in and start over again.

Missing romantic notation’ bummer

Do re mi notation is missing’ also app do not switch in portrait mode with usb plug on top (required for midi plug)

Otherwise, no other app is as good, bummer I can’t use it

Doesnt work with an audio interface to the piano

NoteQuest advertises that it can listen to you play and grade you - but it doesn’t seem to work that way (it doesn’t use your microphone to listen to what you’re playing)

Terrific and practical for learning

This is an app that checks all the boxes for me for piano learning. It doesn’t feel gimmicky like some other apps I tried, and the repetition is exactly what I need. Great value for the price. Glad my teacher introduced it to me.

Very Useful with Major Annoyance

The sight reading exercises are well thought out and helpful. I'm using an IPad and the sizing of the notes on the screen is just right. It's obvious that the developer put some effort into creating NoteQuest.

Now for the major annoyance. While playing the exercises the screen will randomly change to a bird popping up and telling you that you have earned badges, and completely ruining one's concentration. Please tell me how I can stop this from happening! I am not a child and don't care about badges. Even if I were a child this would still be annoying.
