...to experience the problems other reviewers mentioned. I gave up and deleted TrueTexasBBQ when I was unable to order more than one portion of the same meat in a 3-meat plate. With Favor (an H-E-B company) I can. With Grubhub and door dash and Uber eats I can. We wanted to share a plate but ONLY wanted lean brisket. Impossible to do that. Useless app if I cannot order what I want. True Texas BBQ is off the menu for us. I hope they fix it. But I won’t hold my breath.

This was a fiasco. I’ve had the BBQ and it was good, but not worth the hassle. Ordered thru app, got confirmation text. But when I went to pick up...
• BBQ pickup in parking lot, “Jack & Jill” too busy talking to come to the car, so I left the assigned spot, drive to them sitting under canopy to notify them I’ve arrived to pick up my app order... that’s when the fun began
• they couldn’t find my order (paid on app!)
• next they didn’t have BBQ, “do you want some chopped? And we can deduct it from our charge?”
• you can get a refund but you have to call number in app (not there I’ve looked)
• “can’t get a refund tonight (5:30p) since my boss has left for the night”
• employee says, “yeah TrueTexasBBQ is having a lot of problems, you probably shouldn’t use it. Next time just go in.”
• no offer to compensate my family, for my money, time or inconvenience, just “you shouldn’t have used app.”

Absolutely good for nothing since you can’t even create an account. Apparently password doesn’t meet all characters needed…I use every numbers, characters and upper and lower case. What else can I use? And there’s no explanation as to what is needed, and don’t even bother trying to call! Was really looking forward to trying some new bbq and don’t have much time to eat.

We ordered on TrueTexasBBQ and went to pick up the food and they told us they were sold out of over half of the items on our order. They told us that they couldn’t refund us and we had to call TrueTexasBBQ customer service in order to get a refund. So TrueTexasBBQ is not part of H-E-B and it doesn’t know what items are actually available at the restaurant and you can’t be refunded for what they done have in the restaurant.

TrueTexasBBQ has so many problems. Most of the time it shows items out of stock, when they’re available in the store. It doesn’t allow for mobile checkout. It also won’t allow me to select the store on the map. I don’t understand how TrueTexasBBQ can be so problematic when the HEB app has no issues.
It’s definitely a turn off to have these issues when I crave bbq. Now I’ll get it from somewhere else.

After calling and being told I could drive there and order or order online (with no offer to take order on phone) I went to the trouble of downloading app. Then ordered and paid online. My husband got there, had to wait in line behind ten cars who hadn’t ordered, and when he got to the front they told him they did not have the order! Valentinas may be a bit pricier, but at least they don’t lose your order after you’ve paid for it!!!

TrueTexasBBQ isn’t the best online ordering experience but gets the job done.

There is a major issue though. I placed an order and, as an idiot, I didn’t check for all of the items before leaving. At least my specific restaurant very often misses items. I noticed this after getting home and called hoping to get a refund. Turns out, when you order thru TrueTexasBBQ there is no way to get a refund over the phone. I was told I can drive there and show my phone.

So the convenience factor of TrueTexasBBQ was lost when I didn’t get the food I needed, and have to make a trip later if I want my $15 I paid for items I didn’t get. For me that’s a deal breaker for using TrueTexasBBQ in the future.

When I first downloaded TrueTexasBBQ it worked as expected and had no issues. Now, every time I add the items i want to order and hit the checkout button, I get an error message and am not able to proceed with my order. I tried deleting app and redownloading it, but still encounter the same problem.

Finally able to select and complete a same day pick up order, thanks for updating your online order process to accept more of the same day pick up orders.

Also, I recommend to have other modern payment options such as Apple Pay or PayPal as type of pay choices besides having to give manual input of one’s personal card number or personal address. As we all know in todays age, personal information can be easily access & stolen by various third parties or even employees. It’s time to completely modernize all online ordering process.

It would be great If it worked but it doesn’t allow you to create a user account. Either the email address or the password don’t meet criteria but what are the criteria? I’ve tried a number of combinations and nothing works. I feel like something is broken

Easy ordering. I tried to order in advance but TrueTexasBBQ defaulted to “Immediate pick up” instead of the time I chose three hours in the future. I had to call the store to correct the time.

Overall TrueTexasBBQ is well built and easy to use. The BBQ by H‑E‑B is great by the way. My only complaint is that when an item is listed (in this case chicken tenders with jalapeño ranch) and not available you get an error message at check out, but it doesn’t clarify what is incorrect. I had to cancel the tenders and try with a different sauce to be told error again, only to change to no dip before finally deleting that item. The site didn’t show the tenders as unavailable before or after placing my order. Other items had an unavailable stamp on them making selection easier.

Great app, only missing one key option, which is the ability to choose lean or moist/fatty brisket on the sliced brisket sandwich. This option probably is missing from other menu items, too.

Currently, the menu to order items via TrueTexasBBQ isn’t correct. Some popular items, such as loaded cornbread, brisket nachos, and the seasonal cobbler aren’t in TrueTexasBBQ . These appear to be permanent menu items. They’re on the menu board inside the restaurant.

I’ve eaten A LOT of BBQ at different places all over the US, but I don’t know what they do at H-E-B but dang……they sell out too! Keep up the good work!
The only thing I would really really like added to the menu is steak fries for the sandwiches and a poppy seed bun but at least the steak fries would be amazing! Thank you H-E-B you nailed this!

This place is amazing. First of all the employees are so great and friendly. We had a diner at my closest H-E-B off of FM3009 in Schertz, Texas and it closed due to Covid. I just so happen one day to be at this H-E-B and it smelled so awesome and ordered. Not a disappointment. Hubby on the way back home from Austin and stopping by😍One happy momma. No cooking tonight. Thank you

True Texas BBQ is great, no argument there! However, if you aren’t ordering from TrueTexasBBQ in advance to skip the line, you are missing out on True Texas convenience! Get TrueTexasBBQ , order, and enjoy when you want to, easy!

Love their barbecue, have not been disappointed! But, using their app to order a large order was extremely difficult . And when I called the store they were not very helpful. I was locked out trying to use TrueTexasBBQ . I had to change my password to finally be able to order. It would’ve been 4 stars but the ordering on app was difficult, and not allowed to order on the phone almost sent me to a different barbecue place.

The brisket is consistent. Food is prepared quick. The menu continues to grow. Can’t ask for much more. Excited to see what’s next!

I ordered a plate to go based on a photo on my meal delivery app not even realizing this was the BBQ restaurant at the new HEB near Southpark Meadows. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality, particularly the brisket. The sliced brisket sandwich is excellent as are the ribs. My son, who swears by Terry Black’s, even agrees that the brisket is delicious. The sides are also good! This meat has been slow smoked over wood and it has the taste, tenderness and bark to prove it. Do yourself a favor and try it. I’m basically thrilled such good quality cue is so close to my house. Good job HEB!
