EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards goes right along with the curriculum, but the voice recognition is terrible. It either won’t pick up your voice or just flips through cards when you say the wrong word. Quite frustrating. There’s no way to bypass the voice part of the flash cards either rendering EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards pretty much useless.

There are many bug fix problems. Audio input doesn't work half the time. It's sometimes skips some questions. In general I just don't feel this is a good app. I'm thinking of deleting it. The voice recognition now does not work at all on my iPhone 4s (even though the microphone settings is set to on). I have deleted EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards three times and downloaded it, but it still fails. This is a great app, however it just doesn't work properly.

I love EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards - or at least I would if it worked. Unfortunately the voice recognition doesn't work and words don't get counted as "learned" until you can successfully say them. Even words as simple as "y" aren't recognized. Additionally, it picks up sounds that aren't there and sometimes blowing into the microphone will cause it to count as correct. If this were fixed, EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards would be the best! I'm going to keep it for the flash cards, since it's still a decent tool. And I hope it will eventually be updated for proper voice recognition. :)

This is an intuitive and well organized app with precisely the exercises I need for my basic Spanish class. Unfortunately it's still buggy and not quite ready for prime time. The voice recognition lacks direct visual feed back for which part of a word failed to be recognized so it's often necessary to repeat the word severAl times slightly differently to get the spoken answer accepted. I also suspect the noise filtering is poor as it often seems to have the level meter pinned even when I'm not speaking. Second, it often takes time and repeated taps to get it to recognize that a button on screen has been touched. Third it has crashed and quit on my iPhone 5s twice during normal use in the first hour of playing with it.

Fix the bugs and this is a four star app . Add a random review mode and I'll score 5 stars.

A perfect complement to the iBooks textbook -- I own the Spanish Level 1 book by Breaking the Barrier, which is also great. This would easily work as a stand-alone vocabulary app for beginner to advanced levels too. Love the voice recognition -- it helps me practice my pronunciation.

This has been gray whether I am waiting in line or sitting down to study for an hour. The words are very applicable and EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards is very intuitive. I highly recommend EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards.

Just what I was looking for to reactivate my Spanish ahead of a trip to Central America. I have already completed level 1 and I'm looking forward to the next section. Absolutely love the voice recognition!

I've struggled with the interface of other language apps, but this one is just so intuitive. A great mix of visual and audio cards helps me really nail in the vocabulary from multiple angles. Love it! Best Spanish app I've used.

EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards is super intuitive and is already helping me improve my vocab. I'm planning to go to Latin America in the coming months and the vocab in EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards seems really relevant as I think about the things I will need to be able to say when I'm there. Bravo!

This is the best possible way to learn Spanish vocab, both basic and advanced. It's easy to use; the interface makes for a clean and seamless learning experience. I learned hundreds of words at a pretty rapid clip and had fun doing it.

Incredible voice recognition software allows for quick, easy vocabulary practice. I have been searching for an app that allows me to practice my spanish vocabulary without internet. Highly recommend.

Wonderful product - John Conner has done it again! Breaking the Barrier consistently makes learning and practicing a foreign language organized, manageable, and user-friendly. I'm going to use EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards all the time! So easy and intuitive to use. Great for those looking to brush up on their Spanish or start learning for the first time. My favorite part is definitely the audio and voice recognition, it really sets this apart from the rest. I highly recommend it, give it a shot.

Even without taking supplemental lessons in Spanish, by using EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards I've been able to make great gains in both my speaking fluency and comprehension. EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards is easy to navigate and has an enjoyable interface that makes learning comfortable and quick - as it should be. I'd recommend to anyone.

This is a great way to learn the fundamentals of Spanish — very intuitive and easy. I recently started traveling to South America and need to achieve conversational competency. After looking at a bunch of pricier options I decided to give flashcards a try. I started with the first steps and found myself picking up the fundamentals. I am now working working my way through the intermediate concepts. Me gusta mucho!

EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards is a great tool for anyone, whether you're learning the language for the first time or you want to brush up on your Spanish vocabulary before a trip to South America. The vocabulary offered is extensive and I'm impressed by the way EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards accommodates different learning styles, including how it lets you hear every word spoken aloud to demonstrate the correct pronunciation. Quizzes at the end of each section can also be taken repeatedly, and so you can do them many times until you've mastered the lesson. I use EssentialSpanishVocabularyFlashcards for a few minutes every day and it makes a huge difference. I would recommend it to anyone!
