Pretty but confusing, overdesigned, and awful

PeetsCoffee is a mess. The graphics are beautiful and eventually you can (usually) order what you want, but the user experience is a thrown together pile of inconsistent usage models. The bugs really don’t help - reordering the same thing from the same place should work, not get stuck on an “You didn’t indicate what kind of ice you wanted” dialog, which cannot be satified (you have to force quit PeetsCoffee and relaunch to clear).
Endless menus and options scattered everywhere. And a mobile app should never require the user to save anything - it should be automatic, that is how such apps are to be built. The back button will lose your data, you must make sure PeetsCoffee accepts your changes before returning to the previous screen.
As a professional iOS app engineer and former Apple engineer, this is not an app I would want on my resumè, despite the significance of the client. Fix it!
Prior to C19 I never used PeetsCoffee because of its problems and it has only gotten more bloated, confusing, and buggy over time. I hate being forced to use PeetsCoffee, but your drinks are (barely) good enough for me to put up with it.

App Hasn’t Worker for 8 months now

I used to love PeetsCoffee. It was a convenient way for me to order ahead and avoid the lines. As of 8 months ago, I cannot access any of the products on PeetsCoffee . It will not open the menus when I click on any drinks, food, merchandise—so essentially I just have an app I can check-in with and reload my Peets card. I’ve contacted Peet’s app support over 6 times and they haven’t resolved my issue. Seriously frustrating and disappointing.

Edit: They fixed it so now I can order drinks however, if I want to edit my drink, such as change the milk type or add anything else, I can’t. It’s literally only good for checking in and reloading money to your card.

Unhappy with corporate decisions!

I am most always happy with the service and basic items offered by Peets. I have recently been unhappy with the omission of certain, extremely popular offerings you have chosen to discontinue. This Christmas I was very upset you did not offer Winter Solstice Tea. And I mean VERY upset. It has always been one of your most popular holiday staples and I know for a fact you always sold out quickly each year. I want it back!
I was also surprised that you thinned out your selection of herbal teas by discontinuing your version of Rooibos Tea. It was the best version of Rooibos on the market and, again, you always sold out of it.
Personally, I am still wondering why you chose to drop your Peet’s Tea label and change it to Mighty Tea after purchasing that brand. I don’t think it’s an improvement. I think you have gone too boutique on your teas which is why I never buy them any more. There are better teas in the grocery stores and they cost less.

Worst customer experience ever

I placed an order in September 8th for about $200 worth of coffee, 11 lbs, during a promotion. Within 10 days I received 3 lbs and could not see the order in my account history when I looked to see the status of the remainder of the order.
After a couple of weeks I attempted to call and was repeatedly disconnected, I then emailed and about a week later around 10/4 received a response. I was told that the remainder of my order would be fulfilled and sent within 14 days. I received nothing. I then sent another email was told my order was fulfilled back in September but they would be replacing my order and sending me them 3 lbs of coffee I already received completely ignoring the bulk of the order, the other 8 lbs. this company has no quality control or client relationship management software. Be warned you may never receive your order and there will be no record. On a side note I spent well over $500, probably closer to $1000 in direct orders over the summer, you would think that would warrant some attention to detail. This has been awful.

Fairly good app. Gets the job of contactless ordering done...

Ordering is fairly easy using PeetsCoffee . But it’s hard to “customize” your drink. Example, ordering syrup in your drink which you know is available in others but is not listed as an option on whatever drink you are ordering. And there is no substitute button, so if you want to substitute the classic syrup that’s already in your drink with vanilla syrup, it’s an added price. So you deal without when ordering ahead.
Also, the tip area has recently changed, it is now only set up on a percentage system. Upon checkout it was nice being able to tip $1, $2, other before as you could make it a nice even number for your banking, easy to keep track of. Also during checkout, when using your free drink coupon, if you have multiple available PeetsCoffee makes it look like you are losing all of them. You’re not, but it is confusing to look at especially before you get your morning coffee.

Solid B+: Good App

4 stars because I really really believe PeetsCoffee needs to allow the ability to write notes in orders to customize them in ways different than available on the menu. I have found myself not ordering several times because I knew a mod that’s super easy to do in store- like mixing 2 types of tea bags or shaking a drink with condensed milk, etc- couldn’t be requested through PeetsCoffee . Annoying because it’s always an easy thing to do and should be easy to incorporate with a character max if needed to prevent outrageous requests. Otherwise, PeetsCoffee has improved tremendously and overall is one of my most used based on the day to day. I’ve had glitches a couple of times (app timing out on placing orders) but minor in comparison to how generally accessible it is. It’s responsive, comprehensive, and reliable overall.

New rewards program is awful

The designers of PeetsCoffee clearly don’t actually use it or get feedback from real users. They keep telling me the new rewards program is “easier” which is a joke and not true. It’s many steps, where we have to “convert” points into rewards and then somehow apply them, compared to the old simple rewards that I was using for years. Despite what Peets may think, this is not an app one wants to spend all day in. We want to fire it up, order our coffee, and get out, smoothly and quickly. To that end, we use the “reorder” feature all the time, fewest clicks, done, order placed. But guess what? you can’t use the new points / rewards with the reorder feature. Useless. Now I will just accumulate useless “points” forever that I will never redeem because it’s too much effort, too time consuming. Maybe that was the goal of the new system, that we never get free drinks anymore. I’ve been a customer for over 40 years, since college, but this is pretty annoying.

not accepted at many Peet’s locations

PeetsCoffee is not accepted at all Peet's locations. I travel regularly and use PeetsCoffee , but none of the Peet's locations here in Las Vegas that I try to patronize accept PeetsCoffee . This is a deliberately fraudulent and offensive way to market and brand the Peet’s name - and I no longer patronize these Peet's locations as a result. I still do use PeetsCoffee at many Bay Area locations, but got an email today with terms and conditions stating that if PeetsCoffee is not used for check-in within 180 days all accrued points are removed. How am I supposed to use PeetsCoffee to regularly check-in when all your locations do not accept it?! This kind of deliberate disrespect of customers, obviously done with full malicious intent from management, is unbelievably incompetent and should be considered a fraudulent business practice. I mean, the management couldn't think of a way to more effectively drive away loyal customers if they even tried! I question if PeetsCoffee is even legal.

Da Peet’s APP

I was hesitant to get da APP @ first. It took me a wee bit to grasp the concept and why I should get da APP. All it took was a super long line during an off time (not my regular time). I waited for ever. I nabbed da APP during the visit. The next time I ordered as I parked and waited less than two minutes to get my coffee. Lovely ❤️🙏🎯 I started getting points, rewards, discounts etc. Overall if you’re a Peets regular, I would humbly say nab da APP, it will be worth your time 100% My name is Jay and I stand by this message. One last thing, very important!!! Just cause you use da APP, one shouldn’t be called a Peetnik. Only if you’re an employee of Peets Coffee should you be called a Peetnik. They earn that each and every day so to belittle it is no bueno. Blessings to you and yours, stay positive 🙏

Helps avoid the lines but missing some key features

So convenient and works really well. Missing features: sometimes I order food that’s no longer available in the store (ugh!), alerts as to when my online order is ready, ability to ask that the beverage or food would be “for here” and not “to go” (this way I can avoid the lines and still have the real coffee shop experience). Also, going back on forth on various food items send you back to the main menu (instead of the sub menu), which makes me click way too many times to find the food of my choice (and then have my anxiety build up to whether or not they’ll actually have it).

Confusing to order

I love being able to pick up my coffee after ordering, but it took me a while to figure how to place an order. Once you put your item in your cart and hit place order it takes you to a second screen where you have to scroll down and hit place order again. It is confusing at first and many times I have showed up and realized I didn’t place my order.....and the baristas tell me this happens all the time.

The other problem with PeetsCoffee is it will decline my credit card when I try to reload, but still take money out of my account. I just tried 3 times to put $10 into my account and the first 2 times it was declined and it worked the 3rd time. However my account had $30 taken out of it from peets but there’s only $10 on my account. Very frustrating

It’s a really good app but

It only takes credit card- more annoying than having Apple Pay or something like PayPal easily available.
The delivery thing is not straight forward, I thought I was ordering delivery then accidentally did pickup.
Also, it makes you deposit at least $15 at a time, which is annoying and there’s no reason for it other than basically being a scam for you to deposit too much money and forget about, because you will never be able to use as much as you put in.
Other than that, good app, and free delivery rn. Idk if that means the items are increased in price though.

Stevia

Start carrying stevia and you’ll get a 5th star. It’s hard to believe that Starbucks carries stevia but not Peets. This is the Bay Area. after all.
Pastry selection could do with some improvement it would be nice if I had trouble choosing between appealing options. Instead I have to hope that the one or two items I like are still available, which they frequently aren’t.
Service runs the gamut from curt and indifferent to amazingly friendly and professional. Given the current job market I would loose the former.
Stay on top of the bathrooms. The are sometimes quite disgusting.
Despite all this I still give it a four. It feels like my home away from home. The pros outweigh the cons

Great coffee

I really enjoy Peet’s coffee and their delicious oatmeal!! I don’t think I’ve ordered a drink I haven’t liked and the quality of coffee and tea is great! The 4 stars is only because PeetsCoffee has caused me so many problems from showing me a different balance than I have to not allowing me to add money to my Peet’s account because some how my credit card that was given has now disappeared. The poor baristas aren’t IT but they do their best to help and are so gracious about it. When you frequent the same Peet’s you also feel like it’s a small town coffee shop where they know your name! Would highly recommend!

Credit card needed?

I don't know why this is so difficult. I want to tip my barista without adding a credit card. I use gift cards only, because I don't want to put my credit card in my phone. But in order to do that, I need to buy a new gift card, transfer the balance into my app, and then throw the gift card away because I can never add value to it again?! It is ridiculously wasteful.

Take inspiration from Starbucks, where customers can link multiple cards to their accounts, transfer funds between them, and access both their cards and their accounts through either the physical card or PeetsCoffee .

The drinks are great, but PeetsCoffee 's functionality pales in comparison to the competitors's.

Best coffee in the world

Am a coffee drinker, have tried all kinds. Peets always special to me! Everything about it is great! The Vibe, quality, the design... it’s just makes me feel special when I have that black cup with Peets on it...
If I was to choose a coffee business to be part of, it would be Peets coffee!

You do need more stores in Portland though... I have to drive 12 miles to get it...I Suggest you find a space in Sell-wood Morland Neighborhood, it’s a busy residential area, and not one single place where I can have a good espresso! And all of them close at 5... that local business for you!

Peets app does notHave good substitution options

An example is when I want to order a black tie. I like a decaf and I like to substitute vanilla for chicory if I do it through PeetsCoffee I get charged for extra vanilla when it is just substitution and the only option II have for the coffee is to add decaf shots I don’t want to add decaf shots I want to have decaf coffee in replace of caffeinated Cold brew. PeetsCoffee does not give me these options. It is frustrating because very often to get extra points you need to order through PeetsCoffee but I can’t do it. I wish Pete’s would please update PeetsCoffee to allow for decaf substitution for cold brew and for substitution of syrup flavor without adding an extra cost.

It won’t let me log in.

I use to be pretty regular at Peets until PeetsCoffee stop letting me log in. It’s very frustrating because I can’t order ahead anymore and I’m usually in a rush when I order a cup so it use to be very convenient. Not any more! I have some balance in my card that can’t use anymore unless I want to buy something from the website, where I have no problem signing in. I also have some rewards that I don’t want to let go to waste. I don’t know what’s the problem since I just got a new phone and the problem is in this phone as well. Very frustrating! I like Peets better than Starbucks since it tastes a lot more genuine but lately I have had no choice but to buy from them. And yes, I already tried restarting my phone deleting PeetsCoffee and downloading it again, etc.

Coffee and masks

Went in and was ordering coffee as the female manager came up behind cashier was so offensive about wearing a mask. As she cut off the cashier i was communication with about my order. There is a mask on all employees a big plastic shield in front of cashiers as I was gonna use my app to pay for the items. I said I cannot wear a mask.
Then she told me to go outside and she would bring me my change. Being so rude I forgot the rest of my order and how I was gonna pay. The cashier was very polite and apologetic for the manager when she brought me my drink.
This is the first time ever in the years I have been coming to this Peet’s store that this has ever happen. It was very unbecoming of a manager.

Love the rewards and convenience

Peetnik rewards are great and I love being able to order off the members only menu and pick up my drink when it’s ready. My only “peet peeve” is that the estimated time for the pick up order to be ready can at times be WAY OFF. I think by default it says 3-8 minutes and that doesn’t seem to update when the store is super busy and I end up waiting for much longer inside or outside of the store with lots of other customers doing the same (not ideal if you’re trying to reduce crowds during covid). Otherwise this is a great app and I am a regular customer!

Peetes employees are the best

Yes I love Peetes coffee! I’m actually addicted to your coffee, in particular your Danville branch! The manager Shelly has the store inviting, clean & most of all everyone of her employees greets you with a smile😁!
I’ve been in other Peetes stores , yet they don’t hold a candle close to MY PEETES!
My favorite baristas are Stephanie & Dillon. However Stephanie had her 10 years with you this past summer , and YOU are very lucky to have her. She the example of whAt a Peetes employee should race to be ! I love Stephanie, shes exceptional♥️. Dillon is your 2nd position, as he too is an example of what a great employee should achieve to be!

Great coffee, horribly frustrating app

Best coffee beans, BUT PeetsCoffee makes me want to find another bean store. I like the convenience and cost saving ability to order beans ahead. App on iphone keeps touting all the rewards I have, including free drinks with order ahead. When I try to redeem the reward, I get the frustrating message “selected reward is not valid”, though it should be. I give up and try to just order the beans, but it kills the order, even though the cart only shows the beans. No way to the unselect the reward. End up needing to force close PeetsCoffee and start over - never touching the touted rewards. Also tried just ordering the beans ahead and getting that free drink at the store, but was told I must redeem when I’m ordering ahead. Catch 22.

Bad UI?

Why is the Place Order button placed at the bottom of the checkout screen? Cart button is a FAB, then an interstitial pops up to with a confirm button for location, screen refreshes to checkout screen with “Pickup time: ready in 3 to 8 min”. How I’m meant to know the order has not been completed without a full swipe to the bottom on another full length screen. Yes, I am the n00b/idiot that didn’t complete the order but I trusted everything the UI directed me to. Might I suggest a pinned “Place Order” button instead. Thanks for listening. And thanks for providing Oat Milk finally. Please bring back the non-dairy whipped cream too!!!

The Peet’s of all Peet’s coffees

I have never met a more outstanding employee! I believe his name is marquis or Lisa or Devin I’m not sure but he’s always getting my drinks ready and perfecting them! I love the vibe 3rd and mission Peet’s gives off when I first walk into the store especially with the Shiftlead supreme as well as president Jess and lord David but above all QUEEN MARIA!! The entire staff there is lovely and I’ve never felt so welcomed and they are always taking care of me. Overall, I would recommend this store to anyone without hesitation.

Can't browse through the menu

Everything is good about PeetsCoffee EXCEPT the user cannot browse through the menu!! The only way to look at the menu is by going to the online 'order' section and selecting a specific store to look at a menu. But if the store is closed, one does not have access to the menu!!
Peet's, lots of people are addicted to the phone and will scroll mindlessly through a lot of seemingly boring things. You'll definitely increase your business if one can easily scroll through your menu and read what they've been missing.

Best Coffee Ever!!!

Over the 15 years I’ve been drinking coffee, Pete’s Coffee is the overall best in quality and knowledge of how to brew a cup/pot of coffee. Smell is very pleasant prior to drinking, taste quality is smooth, yet not overwhelming bitter nor watered down like other coffee shops. Pete’s Coffee has it down to science when it comes to coffee and especially their Lattes. Again, Thank You So Much Staff of Pete’s Coffee for keeping my day going...it really helps me get through my day as a Bus Operator (Hint: ACT).

Love app BUT cream cheese option please

Since introducing mobile ordering, I absolutely love PeetsCoffee ! I only don’t give 5 stars, because ordering bagels on mobile actually disrupts and slows the service. PeetsCoffee does not give an option for cream cheese, so the store does not know to give cream cheese and often does not. If there’s a busy line, this completely disrupts the flow. Please add back the cream cheese option (I think a previous version had it).

One last wish: tipping. I don’t carry cash (probably am like most mobile people). Thx!

I have a complaint

My entire household has bought only Peet’s beans for over a quarter century. My husband and I now use a Nespresso maker and use Peet’s aluminum capsules. I spend more than a pound’s worth of capsules at Peet’s and I cannot either get a free pour of coffee or redeem my rewards that come with buying a lb of coffee. Today I purchased 4-10pack capsules and spent over $27 and couldn’t redeem the complementary pastry I would be awarded if I’d purchased beans I am still purchasing Peet’s coffee, giving Peet’s my business solely and I cannot redeem the perks that show up on my phone at checkin.
I have to say I am annoyed and disappointed. Could just as easily buy my capsules elsewhere.

Love the coffee, but app does not work

I love, love, love the coffee and love the people in the cafes. I don’t understand how PeetsCoffee have such high ratings. It has only worked 2 times since I first tried mobile ordering.

During my last visit, I asked if other people have problems with mobile orders or logging in. They tried to help me in the cafe, but apologized and said a lot of people have problems with mobile orders. They asked me to delete PeetsCoffee and try again. I’ve done that daily and it doesn’t help.

It saddens me bc I love the coffee and matcha lattes. I would buy every day if I could use the mobile order feature. Please fix this issue.

Peet’s is Awesome

I just moved to Shirlington and my coffee pot is still in a box so I have been going to Peet’s to get my Coffee. The team is awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. The coffee is delicious. The coffee drinks are creative and delicious. I got PeetsCoffee and I love the ease of placing an order in advance and just picking up to go. This is an incredibly convenient way to get my caffeine fix and earn points toward free beverages; the coffee is delicious and the people are so friendly. 💞💞

Love our local Peet’s store

Always courteous and fast. We always order modded drinks and our baristas don’t miss a beat. I would like to especially call out Claudia and Joey as baristas. They always make our lattes and mochas perfectly. We can taste their skill especially with the quality of our short pull shots! Thank you too for being the best baristas! Great coffee and service

I’ve tried the other chain because of their overwhelming number of locations but if there’s a Peet’s around the area I definitely go there. Their coffee just taste and smells so good in my opinion. My go to drink is Americano but I’ve also ordered other ones and they’re good as well. So far the locations I went to had great service especially my local Peet’s. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing! I live by the new Crocker location, but I will drive across town to get my coffee at this location on Jst and 20th! All the staff are friendly and never ever rude! They learn and know your name, and make your visit personal. They have their regular customers coffee ready as soon as they see them coming to the door. They provide excellent customer service from the manager to the cashier.
