Love it!

This is great. I added all my accounts from other banks so now I can track everything in one place (for free). It puts my transactions into budget categories automatically so now I know what I am spending, and I’m following a budget better than before. So convenient!

Most Improved

WaFd bank used to just “get by” with a functional but not a wow app. Their recent update provided much easier interfaces between simple functions like transfers, mobile deposits etc. combined with free checking is a new winner in the crowded but usually boring banking sector.

WaFdBank has come a long way in the years I’ve been using it. I loved the ability to see instant balances, and the increased functionality of the bill pay has been awesome. My o ley complaint right now is that I’ve been unable to use Face/Touch ID for the last several months. I thought maybe it was being blocked by my VPN or had something to do with my connection. I’ve tried turning off VPN which totally defeats the purpose and I have tried on both mobile data and WiFi. No change. Please fix this!

It’s never up to date.

I can go several days without my transactions appearing. The balance will stay the same instead of updating dynamically.

Why do you keep breaking what was working just fine

*****updated because clearly my review was too long to get the point across, baaed on developer’s response - so the TLDR version is that, in trying to be everything to everyone, you broke the most basic functionality- your app now takes so long to load that over 50% of the time it will not load or sync.***********

I absolutely hate your newest version of WaFdBank , and the online banking. I hate that every time you “improve” things we are locked out officially for so long, and then unofficially because it takes so long for you to work out the kinks trying to get us all back in. This new version takes way too long to load, takes up way too much internet bandwidth- so if you’re in a rural area you may or may not be able to view information, and gives me nothing useful, as far as I can tell. I don’t want any of the “insights” you’re providing because they are not helpful to me. I just want to be able to see - in real time - the activity going on in my bank, to make deposits, and to make transfers. Pretty much I want the last version of WaFdBank back. ****I should add - if you were going to fix anything, you could’ve fixed the fact that your banking is so difficult to link with other apps. It has the least functionality for this feature of any bank I use.

No response from developers

I downloaded the new app, but to do this, it demanded I was connected to the internet. Then I could not find how to make my mortgage payment as I always do. Finally, I figured that I needed to make an “external transfer,” but WaFdBank gave me an error saying “contact your financial institution.” when I hadn't gotten to that point yet. I contacted WaFd four times, and no one could give me a straight answer. They said that the transfers were not working and suggested using “bill pay,” which will take three weeks during the holidays. I do not recommend WaFdBank or this bank. I am here because my mortgage is almost paid for. Lousy customer service, no paying options, and high fees. Very high costs and lack of transparency in what you owe. I contacted the developers five times by email because they don't have an extension number where you can speak to someone. Finally they said they were going to close the ticket that in December 15th WaFdBank will be working. Guess what? The Ward app is still broken, and I cannot make a transfer. It does not recognize my mortgage account or any account. Very poor performance and customer service at WaFd.

Please help

WaFdBank has been a really huge hassle for me since day one. Having to log in, provide a finger print and answer a security question has landed me locked out of my account several times. Please add an option to pick a different security question or to reset my password without having to call customer service or log onto my computer. I so enjoy my local branch of WAFD but WaFdBank is truly terrible!

Useless

Useless app. It never seems to sync up to what’s actually going on with my bank account so I can’t trust the balance it tells me. I don’t understand how WaFdBank is supposed to be improved. The previous version was easy to use, and I could quickly glance at it and know what was going on. For whatever reason, the new format for the list of transactions is confusing to look at. But the worst part is that it doesn’t sync up to what is actually happening with my money. It takes days for transactions to appear, and these transactions where they once would show up as pending, don’t show up until later, but when they do show up they are put into the list of the transactions at the correct date, so it’s confusing and I don’t understand why those transactions are not showing up as pending.

Improved

When they first rolled out the update they had only four or five security questions and you had to come up with an answer to each one, even ones that make no sense to you. Then when making a deposit after clearing out cookies on your phone, you would be required to answer a question and if you couldn’t answer in three tries you were out. They have since gone back to the old longer list to choose from. Still had to answer one to complete a deposit. I’ll bet they have a lot of people trying to sneak money into other accounts so they had to step up the security.

Fix mobile deposit

I love having access to my account information quick and easy but the issue with the mobile deposit is nerve racking. I have an IPhone 6 it takes extremely clear photos and WaFdBank just seems to be very picky when it comes to excepting the images of checks. I take 30 separate photos of front and back of checks to have WaFdBank decline the images all together. It would be nice for that option to work better especially when I can’t always get to the bank but need access to my money quickly. Please check into this feature and work on the issues.

Garbage app

I suggest switching banks. I’ve been with washing federal for about three years now and I was excited when they implanted the banking app, you can just take a quick pic of ur paycheck and you’re done! Wrong. Actually WaFdBank breaks down every two months. You get logged out and the fingerprint ID doesn’t work half the time. And with the newest update it takes 8 to 10 tries to get the picture to go through. So now WaFdBank is rendered useless and a waste of phone space. Not to mention whenever I go to the drive through bank it takes eons. So I’m pretty screwed to work around whenever WaFdBank decides to work and when the bankers decide to pick up the pace a little.
Just going to switch banks at this point.

It's decent when it works, needs to evolve.

There are many better mobile apps from other banks that do mobile banking better. WaFdBank has seen some big improvements but hasn't caught up to what BofA had before the transition a couple of years ago. Needs a balance after every transaction like it used to have. Not sure why they took that off. Only reason I can think of, is to make it easier for people to overdraft. Bring that back, and show pending transactions along with current balance and balance after transactions go through, and you'll be good.

More trouble than it’s worth

When WaFdBank works, it’s convenient and relatively easy (though the signing in with Face ID takes a couple of extra steps more than my other financial apps. But now, it won’t accept my log in credentials. I can use it once but after that it can’t validate me or some such error message. The work around is to go to the computer, reset password and try again. Which of course completely defeats the purpose EXCEPT I can’t do mobile deposits on the computer. So far tech support has not offered a viable solution.

Just downloaded and …nada

Just downloaded WaFdBank excited to give it another go (tried a couple of years ago and it didn’t work…was garbage). I was met with a green logo screen and then a “The mobile app is experiencing connectivity issues. Please ensure you have the latest version of WaFdBank , check your network connection, and try again.”

Since I was able to download WaFdBank just now, I think my connection is just fine. I’m guessing I have the latest version of WaFdBank since I just got it…do better. Still a dumpster fire. Says it’s compatible with my iPhone and version of iOS. Also hot garbage.

New and improved

As with many reviewers, I can agree that the old app was not the best or most user friendly. The new app (that just launched this morning) already seems much more impressive. A lot more options through mobile (great, because we’re all on the go!) and just a much more appealing aesthetic. So far I haven’t had any bugs or glitches occur, and am really enjoying the update.

Mobile App

WaFdBank requires you to answer a security question after your deposit photos are taken and before it completes. It makes absolutely no sense this is done in this order. Secondly, if you do not answer it correctly it does not ask another security question. It will kick you after three wrong answers. Your answers could be wrong due to case sensitivity, spacing, or as simple as a wording difference. For me this is a major headache due to locations of branches locally. I only use WaFdBank for deposits. I am on the verge of closing this account and switching due to the constant hassle. I have an account here for twenty five years and back to when it was Charter Bank.

BROKEN APP

It’s been weeks now that I have not been able to open WaFdBank. I have deleted it repeatedly, and installed it repeatedly. I hit the icon, I get the WAFD logo, and nothing else ever happens! I live in a town that I need mobile deposits. I am so frustrated that my app won’t work I’m ready to change banks. I’ve been with Washington Federal savings since 1991. Please fix WaFdBank ;-)

App isn’t loading

So I’ve had WaFdBank for years now, but in the last couple of months, it will only open if I’m in WiFi and not mobile data. I didn’t worry about it because I’m usually on WiFi when I need to use it. However, it now isn’t even loading on WiFi and I have to do all my banking online as I don’t have access to a physical bank or atm right now. I would love if the developer could contact me for help with whatever is causing this to happen.

Better than the last one

This is much more user friendly than the last version. I like the clean look. I also like that my bill pay settings transferred over from the other version.

IOS 14 Compatibility

WaFdBank stopped working from IOS 14 Developer Beta 2 and still has the same issue in release version of IOS 14 which is white screen then it crashes and closes. Your other app for Treasury Mobile works perfectly but this doesn’t. 4 stars as it is a good app when it works. 1 star off since it doesn’t work in the latest OS version.

All I have

There are better amps, but it works. I don’t like that I have to tire in my password every login instead of fingerprint. The mobile deposit function consistently takes 2 tries to work, which has never been a problem on other deposits apps. Navigation is annoying since using back button will always log you out and I always accidentally log out.

Hard to deposit

I have had several Mobil deposits get kicked back and not knowing that they weren’t accepted. I have also have a hard time when the deposit I put in doesn’t match with my books but I can’t find what check hasn’t cleared because I have many that are the same amount. Each individual picture of a Mobil deposit check would be helpful.

Easy update

Following the instructions given to me by my local bank it was easy to log in. I feel like a lot of the people reporting problems just didn’t pay much attention to the alerts they gave us.

The old version was great...

The old version of WaFdBank was great, no problems ever! Now that I’ve updated it’s complete trash. I used to have to delete and redownload WaFdBank every time I wanted to use it, now that’s not even working. It just says I have no network connection and can’t access, when I clearly have network just fine on all my other apps. The bank branch in my town is closed due to Covid so now I have literally no way to bank. Please fix!!!
