Just bought this a month ago, already had to update twice and now the new update that says it should be free for people who already bought Med calc will not load without me paying for it again. I haven't used it much because 10 sec EM is easier to search. Sorry I bought this.

App looks great but scores are not updated often. Many basic scores and outcome metrics are missing and not there. I open MedCalX, look for score, find it’s not there, and then open MDCalc instead.

It's a great app but it's not restoring my previous purchase unlocking the formulas.
As soon it is fixed I will rate 5 stars

Why would I want to upgrade to medcalcx when the original medcalc has all of the formulas and doesn't require in app purchases to access them?! I'll stick with the older app, thanks

Medcalc was one of the best medical calculators-until it became this app. Many usual functions/calculator are not available unless you make an additional purchase--even if you purchased the full MedCalc previously. Frustrating, dishonest. Integrity is key so I will find a different calculator and encourage others to do the same.

MedCalX was recommended by fellow medical students. One of the options to get the premium version is to create a doximity account within MedCalX . I did so and it never unlocked the premium version. I tried using the contact us link within MedCalX and it endlessly buffered. Might be a great app if it worked like it says it does.

Update: finally managed to send a message to app support and it's been 4 days with no response

I have the full MedCalc app and received the message that they are changing the program to this app. They state that if you have the unlocked MedCalc, that this app would be unlocked, and all you have to do is have both applications downloaded at the same time. Well, it's not unlocked, and my preferences were not carried over. At best, this is deceptive; at worst, the developer is lying. Don't delete MedCalc from your device and keep using that "older" version!

Unable to import previous purchase. Tried multiple times without success. Then tried contacting support multiple times without any reply. Otherwise a good app that I ultimately repurchased

Some things to make this a much more powerful app would be to include more information like the actual equation and how to exactly interpret the results (missing in some eqs). Also, I would love some information on pathophys and mechanism of why some parameters affect a score . . i.e. why would an increase creatinine affect someone's MELD score. I retain things better if I know how it works. . I can input data and get a score in any other website or calculator.

I use it regularly in my practice. Developers are awesome. They have added many features overtime. Outstanding value and makes carrying my phone essential. Thank you.

I’m an MD in the ER and I use MedCalX on a daily basis. It saves time and improves my clinical decision making.

I love it. I’m an attending anesthesiologist at a very busy trauma center/hospital. We also have a busy ASC. use this almost daily as I haven’t time for paper and pen to do lots of calculations!

I have used MedCalX for years, and expect to use use it for many more! Customer support is fantastic!!!

Easiest to use and most informative. You can unlock for free with a new doximity account.

The free unlock/import worked fine--had to go to "Settings" INSIDE MedCalX to make this happen, but easily done.

Great app, provides good actionable info.

This is still the best calculator and my daily go-to app. There’s only 1 or 2 formulas I’m missing that would be great to see added in the future (FIB-4 and West Haven please!). Not sure why they made a new app again but the import worked without problems and I didn’t have to pay again.

I have been a long-time user of this application, it is been updated many times. I purchased it a long time ago and following the instructions I was able to get this updated application free and it imported my previous favorites.

There are free medical calculators which I also have on my iPhone but this has more calculations than the rest.

I've used MedCalX since medical school. I was finally tired of seeing the upgrade screen before I used a calculator so I upgraded. Very easy to send my favorites over to the new app and since I purchased pro and had all access previously I continue to have all access now. I literally use MedCalX everyday and it has all the equations I need in one place.

It does upgrade well. Contact their app support if you can’t.

Yes, it's a bit of a hassle to upgrade, however if you previously purchased MedCalc there is a relatively painless process for migrating all your data to this new iteration. this app works as well as MedCalc did and is worth the money if you want all the most up to date medical formulas with their PubMed links.

I am not sure why there are so many one star reviews but my pro version transferred over completely.

On the new this app you have to press About>Settings and follow the steps to transfer. Was not that difficult at all.

People complaining about the name change, they stated pretty clearly--legality issues. I'm assuming over the name MedCalc itself as there is another product out there with the same name--different application/purpose.
