Love Spurgeon but...

It says no ads but there are still annoying ads at the bottom that I can’t seem to get rid of. I wish there was a way to take notes on each entry and I wish I could forward an entry to an email address. Spurgeon is GREAT and I’ve read this publication for years. I have a much better app for him on my phone but I guess it’s no longer available. I can’t seem to get it on my iPad via the cloud. 😩 I looked at the other Morning and Evening apps and this one was the best for me. Even though it’s not great, I’ll still use it.

Spurgeon?

I’m not sure if this is all entirely Spurgeon. There are some readings where the language doesn’t seem to correspond to the language used by Spurgeon nor the vernacular for those days. I wonder if in fact is all Spurgeon or the language has been changed and has it changed the content then?

Is there a way to send a notification?

Is there a way to have MorningandEveningDevotion send a notification at specific times as reminders me to read the morning and evening devotions? Thank you so much for everything you do.

Excellent App

Thankful for MorningandEveningDevotion. The Prince of Preachers is such a blessing to the church of Christ, and you are helping modern Christians connect with their rich heritage. Please consider adding a “Share” function to bless friends and family with encouraging messages from this man of God. Also, whenever I open MorningandEveningDevotion, any audio that I’m listening to is cut off. Not sure if that is something you guys can do anything about, but I just want to bring it to your attention in case you’ve gotten similar feedback from other users. Grace and peace!

I like the functionality and it is great content

While I like the overall functionality and great content, I cannot get rid of the ads. The ads are small but still annoying and distracting given the context. There is a button to remove ads but it does nothing. I be happy to pay a buck pay or so but cannot.

What I needed, but....

This daily devotion has been helping me in lot of ways and I’m blessed to have it. However, a there are a couple of things I wish it had. Social Media sharing is one and the other is that the commentator is too technical and wordy. Maybe it’s just me, but sometimes it’s so professionally written that I get lost with what the writer is talking about or it may seem totally unrelated to the verse it is talking about. There is nothing wrong with writing professionally, however, I believe that the style it is written in is geared to those who already know the word. They should ease off being so wordy because it can confuse or lose the young in faith. It just seems more harder to understand than the Bible itself. Other than that it is a great devotional.

Handy

Thank the Lord for “SmartPhone” and MorningandEveningDevotion. It’s so easy to read words of wisdom from one of the best anytime and anywhere. We are swamped with every vice the devil can throw at us from the air waves, news, books and on and on: so this can help you to once again to put your focus where it should be.

MESSAGE OF THE CROSS

The messages of the devotion always bring me to tears. There is no deviation from the message of the cross. Thank you so much to whoever is compiling this for us busy folks. God bless you all. The messages from the devotions are really gotten from the heart of God.

Morning & Evening

More than any other devotional, this one seems to hit the spiritual spot more often than another other, either encouraging or convicting or both. Let me correct that. Always both. I thank God for CHS.

Passing time but not passing God’s WORD.

Born in 1943 when the only Bible was that big one on the table no one read. Now at 75, eyesight failing, a touch on the screen adjusts the font, and reminds me the tool deceiving many, is still available to bring us HIS word, which will never pass away!

I am new to the Bible and love this app

It has brought me closer in a time of TRUE NEED to Him and His word. To know someone out there loves me and has a plan for me during these dark times makes me feel like I can go on. Thank you for making MorningandEveningDevotion—and making it free.

User Friendly App

I’m extremely pleased with the functionality of your program. The content loads quickly and easily. The messages are clear and concise. To be able to start and end my day being reminded of the Glorious life we have through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is priceless.

Thank you,

Great app!

I love the simplicity of MorningandEveningDevotion. It’ll give you one scripture and then a commentary on it and I love that it leaves so much room for depth. I usually take the scripture back to the passage and read the entire chapter itself and then the one before and after it then re read the commentary. It’s been a great source of growth for me!

Classic, Easy to use, Highly Recommended

MorningandEveningDevotion presents Charles Spurgeon’s “Morning and Evening” devotional in a very user friendly manner. I like using it alongside my hard copy print version because it makes it easy to look up words I don’t know. It also provides a link to a fuller reading of the related scripture reference which I find quite helpful and time saving.

Morning and Evening Devotionals

Two deeply thoughtful lessons are provided every day which require a concentration of attention unlike many daily devotions which only skim across the surface of the greater depth of wisdom to be found in Scripture. I look forward each day to delve into the meat which the Bible provides to our spirit rather than the infant’s milk of watered down essays.

Great app

I’ve enjoyed MorningandEveningDevotion. I like how it reminds me to read and also sends me an email with a daily scripture. I don’t even have to open the email to read the scripture. It just shows up on my notifications. It always catches my attention. The one thing I wish for would be for MorningandEveningDevotion to have a quick hermeneutics description and then a quick application description.

God’s word is applicable as easily today.

With so many hipster, skateboarding, sleeve tattooed, “easy church” pastors today offering daily motivationals that tend to miss the simple and direct messages of Christ, having the timeless insights of Charles Spurgeon so readily available on my phone is a true Godsend.
Each morning and every evening Pastor Spurgeon’s thoughts prepare me for reading our Father’s words. This little app is a real blessing to share with my friends when they ask me where I got “that wonderful quote”? God bless you.

A timeless resource for getting to know God & His Benefits

The language is of old English so it is an effort to comprehend but personally I enjoy the challenge and it makes it more meaningful as it’s not watered down like so many current Devotionals. I heard Kirk Cameron say he reads this daily and how it helps him in his walk with God and so by reading MorningandEveningDevotion and meditating upon its meaning, it has helped me too. I pray the future readers of MorningandEveningDevotion will also have a more richer and fuller relationship with the Divine Creator.

Not a Bible but another Christian book

The book is “Morning and Evening,” a Baptist daily devotional by Reverend Charles H Spurgeon, first published in the nineteenth century . Spurgeon was known as the pastor of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in London England, and is regarded as one of the most important religious figures of Baptist Church history. His beloved “Spurgeon’s Sermons,” beginning in 1855, is a book both widely read, as well as used by modern Christian Leaders to compose sermons.

Features

Spurgeon weaves a verse of Scripture into each devotion, helping readers draw deeper meaning out of the selected passages.

It consists of brief groupings of scripture passages which speak to prominent Biblical themes—two themes (morning and evening) for each day of the year.

Daily Light is a Christian daily devotional scripture reading published by Bagster & Sons about 1875.

This powerful devotional provides Christians with the spiritual nourishment required to strengthen their relationships with God.

In his book, Faith’s Checkbook, Spurgeon urges readers to view each daily Bible reading as a “check” from God to us.
