I downloaded PhotosBackup and I started my first backup.
After 20 pictures PhotosBackup stopped the back up and requested me to buy an upgrade to continue. Unacceptable.

PhotosBackup times out way too much. I later discovered that DS File has a iPhone backup feature too. A bit different than PhotosBackup but no time outs! Sorry I bought PhotosBackup.

Gave PhotosBackup a try. The paid version has some nice features, but it’s a manual backup tool. You have to open PhotosBackup and perform the backups yourself, and leave PhotosBackup open while this happens.

This makes PhotosBackup less than useful for me, and I will use my NAS’s native app, which offers similar features at no cost.

After a few seconds it times out, pretty annoying (I have the full version)

This needs to allow landscape mode, don't want to look at pics in portrait only.

UPDATE: So I got a notice from the developer saying that the metadata are now preserved during the transfer of photos from the phone to the NAS. Yay!, I thought. Unfortunately, after a few tests, I see that some metadata are preserved, but not all. Most notably, the location data is NOT preserved. PLEASE DEVELOPER, can you preserve ALL metadata?

Also, I also noticed that the wireless transfer of files resulted in smaller file sizes using PhotosBackup compared to the same photos that I uploaded to the NAS via lighting cable. Is PhotosBackup maintaining the full resolution of the photos as it claims? I don’t know.

I’ve done my array of tests and this is a great app, BUT IT LACKS AN ESSENTIAL FEATURE. PhotosBackup appears to indeed transfer full resolution of pictures and videos BUT IT DOES NOT TRANSFER THE METADATA. This makes PhotosBackup unusable to me. So please, include the ability to transfer ALL metadata with the full resolution pictures and videos! Thank you in advance.

We used the free version for awhile. I decided to buy the full version thinking my husband and I could both use it. It will not allow him to use the full version too.

Since upgrading to iOS13, when turning “HEIF photo to JPG” Off all Live Photos get exported as just a .mov (no corresponding image file). Before, they were exported as the .mov and the .heic files.

Besides this bug, the product worked very well and I would otherwise give 5 stars.

Benn using for several years and this works great.

Amazing app for synology
Worry free backup

I’ve had no problems. Automatic and fast back up. Perfect!

If you have a synology NAS and you take pictures, this is a no brainer. Photos organized and effortlessly uploaded to your NAS. Genius. Seriously, get PhotosBackup.

Initially I had some issues getting this connected to my symbology, but once I got it it worked perfectly. I have reached out to the developer once with connection issues and once with a suggestion and they were very responsive. In fact, they took my suggestion and implemented it.

I love how easy it is to back up photos and videos. It has an easy set up then simple user interface. Photos are stored in dated folders so looking them up later is easy. I open PhotosBackup once a week and hit the back up button. Each time you back up it only uploads the newest photos.

Easy to backup to my DSM213. Recommended.

I luv the simplicity of it . Perfect app that’s why I bought it .

It is so comforting knowing all my pictures on the phone are backed up to my Synology nas
