Very Unstable on iPhone 12 Pro!

2022-07-03

I am a fairly new user of AccuChek, and was quite happy with its performance on my iPhone 6. After recently upgrading to iPhone 12 Pro, I find that AccuChek is now very unstable. AccuChek closes itself every time you try to change between tabs in a summary view, and forget about changing the day range of a report. The other anomaly is that AccuChek closes after a result is transferred via Bluetooth from the meter. I assume that AccuChek needs to be updated to better perform on iOS 14, and I certainly hope that it happens soon!

UPDATE: Developers are aware of AccuChek ’s buggy nature on iOS 14, but it appears that very little effort is being made to fix the issues.

Problems the past 5 months

2022-08-04

I have been using AccuChek for several years with my iPhone 7 without any problems; however, the past 5 months, it never sends my readings to AccuChek on my phone. The past 2 months, it shuts down whenever I use it, several times daily. I cannot access pst months readings because it constantly shuts down when I try to do this. It is extremely frustrating. My endocrinologist insists on a paper list of my readings, not email, which I last provided in May. I have another appointment next week, but I cannot access prior readings from May forward. I don’t know what to do about any of this, but it is a mess.

Wow, all data just went “poof” with last update

2022-09-05

Big Pharma mostly justifies their insane and inhuman pricing due to “research and development.” Well, it appears little of that R&D money ever made it to this application because as of the last update it removed all but the most recent entry. Oddly, the data still shows in the “diary” section.

I was just prescribed and purchased their extremely expansive Bluetooth reader and ($1 apiece) strips that work with AccuChek. But what is the point of collecting data if it’s so poorly protected? I might as well grab a blank piece of paper to show my doctor rather than AccuChek, the information would essentially be the same. Fortunately I’ve also been concurrently logging data in another application, so I have the information even though it’s painful to transfer it over again.

The FDA should go after Roche for such an unreliable piece of medical equipment.

Decent features but not usable as is

2022-10-06

I noticed the last update to AccuChek is about a year ago. Are you abandoning this? What are my alternatives when using the accu check meter? I have no problems using AccuChek once the data has been transferred to my iPhone (model 11 Pro, iOS 15.4.1 - always up to date). It’s the transfer process that doesn’t work. At all. It spins and spins. The only time it links is when I disconnect the device from my phone and start all over. Then when I newly connect the two it only downloads the recorded data from the point I reconnect which is useless. When will you be updating AccuChek? I really want to use my phone to track my glucose but cannot. I may be forced to abandon this and try a different brand. Please help.

This is negligence

2022-11-07

Since you can die of diabetes and uncontrolled blood sugar, THE company that makes the software to record this data sure as hell did a lousy job with a cover of nicety and deceptively important data entry types. Bottom line, you’ve got to make it simple, upfront and in your face easy readable data, which it is not. If I let my life depend on it I’d be dead. Writing down my info into a handwritten log is the only way available to keep accurate useful notes, since companies like you who make a FORTUNE off diabetics, is unable to create a functioning and USEFUL app to help people like me deal with times of fragility so I could avoid a stroke or worse. Bottom line, when I could have used AccuChek at the most important time, you fell through. Shame on you. You could have done much much better.

Useless!

2022-12-08

All of a sudden, I couldn’t access my diary. It appears that I specified a custom range over 31 days. Rather than tell me I can’t do that - a distinct weakness other reviewers have noted (why not an A1C 90-day range?)- it simply exits AccuChek . Repeatedly, every time I entered the diary section. So, thinking I corrupted something in this garbage app, I deleted it and reloaded it. Now the garbage app won’t Bluetooth sync with the now useless meter. Unbelievably frustrating!!!

With all the $$$ they are getting for their strips, why don’t they fix this freakin’ app? I would think they would be embarrassed by achieving only a two-star app.

Bear in mind I’ve used this system for over 4 years, so I’m not a newb. Don’t know why AccuChek is suddenly so problematic!

Latest iOS software is no longer supported by Accu-Chek

2023-01-09

After trying numerous times to figure out why my Accu-Chek blood test meter would no longer work in uploading my data to their online portal, I was informed today by a software "expert" at Accu-Chek that they do not support iOS 12 or Mac OS prior to Mojave. When I asked if they had plans to upgrade their software, the answer was "I have no idea if or when that will happen." If you want to use the latest Mac and iOS software, AccuChek will not work with it. It was not the greatest app to begin with, but I find it hard to believe they did not know that Apple was upgrading their system software. This is unacceptable from a major player in the diabetes world. Time for a new BGR meter and it will not be one from Accu-Check.

It previously worked well

2023-02-10

I used to like the way AccuChek connected to my iPhone XR and transferred the reading. Previously I would have to re-sync the BT with my phone every couple of months. Mid summer it quit consistently transferring readings but if you manually transferred it would transfer missing readings.

In mid October it disconnected and could no longer connect or re-sync to the phone. Tried everything I could find online to get it to work even waiting through two upgrades to the iOS Version December 1 I downloaded a different diabetes app which synced to the phone without issue and works fine. It seems like the accu-chek developer missed something and failed to update AccuChek correctly.

Something has changed

2023-03-11

Every time you execute a task, you are thrown out of AccuChek and have to open it again. I agree with the person who asked to see a 90 day result, which is what my doctor goes by. I am trying to find a way to uninstall and reinstall, hoping this will fix the first issue. The second issue probably comes from techs who don’t really understand what we need to see. With AccuChek running properly, without a 90 day result, I would rate AccuChek 3 stars. Running properly with a 90 day result I would consider 4 or even 5 stars. As it is now, I have assigned two stars. Finally, the green font that gives the calculated result for the selected time frame is just about impossible for me to read.

App keep closing

2023-04-12

It’s an “OK” app; it keeps crashing while performing any action [edits/ adds /pressing any link on AccuChek etc] ; but works if you retry (first time it almost always fails).

You can directly upload all data to the accu-check online website; which is by the way a nice website. Downloading data from the device is seamless. AccuChek also exhibits early warning signs of Alzheimer’s since it sometimes forgets the device and we have to remind it again by
1) “Forget” the Bluetooth device on the iPhone
2) turn off ACCU-CHEK device
3) press left and right button on the device
4) enter pin - here sometimes it miraculously remembers (connects) midway before entering pin ...

AccuChek will definitely test your patience, but please stay calm (keep you BP low, get some breathing exercise ) - next try it works 😜. Nice looking app though and I use it daily (along with an app called mySugar which is much stable).

I hope these issues are fixed in a future release...and I would love to give it 5 stars ...

Mostly unreliable but useful when it works

2023-05-13

As my title says AccuChek is useful when it is working. The glucose readings are tracked and synced with my iPhone XS Max. However, AccuChek crashes and closes often. But the biggest problem I have is syncing the meter with AccuChek . I often need to delete AccuChek , reinstall it and re-sync the meter with AccuChek because the meter stops syncing with AccuChek . I have become use to this failure so it’s just normal to me. I WOULD NOT recommend this product to anyone looking to sync their meter with AccuChek. If you are just looking to track your glucose level and keep it stored in your meter then this product is very good. But it’s just the opposite if you want to sync it with an app to get more reports and charts at your fingertips.

Use to Great

2023-06-14

About three months ago uploading my BG data wirelessly has become impossible. Despite multiple reloads of AccuChek on my iPhone XR, iOS 14.6, it cannot find the phone even when it is next to it. Use to work great, I loved it, now it’s a piece of junk. I give it two stars instead of one because at one time in the past it was a 5, now it is nearly worthless! Why ruin a good product? Now I cannot use it and have lost the convenience and usability in easily tracking my results on the phone and reviewing them with my physicians. Should I switch meters now too? Your pushing me that way!

Pretty Good

2023-07-15

So far i am enjoying AccuChek . I like that it can connect to my meter and grab the numbers, so that i can see them on my phone. I do wish you would add more insulins to the list my Tresiba is not listed. It would be great if you could also add a food look up for adding carbs like a lot of other apps do. That would make monitoring my health easier. I know my insulin doses it would be great if we did not need the advisor to see the amount we need; It would just make life easier I wouldn’t have to leave AccuChek to calculate. This would just life with diabetes easier. Of course people should not depend on this but as i have stated it would be easier and make for an awesome app. I know some app offer these this but if AccuChek could offer all this in 1 that corresponds to my meter it would once again be awesome.

Synthonics becoming problematic

2023-08-16

I’ve been using AccuChek since I first acquired my new iPhone 6s+. The 6 months, the sync to iPhone has been problematic at best. Many times I had to reinstall AccuChek , change the battery on my accu-connect monitor and re-pair the device to my iPhone. My iPhone software has been kept up to day throughout my ownership. The accu-connect software never required an update during the same timeline.

I love the online report system. It’s easy to print my charts and logs for distribution to my physician and specialist.

I’m being forced to change health insurance due to age and need to look at what is available to meet my current needs.

So far so good...

2023-09-17

I’ve only used a few times so far but it seems to be working as advertised. It would really be nice if it would be able to go into the landscape page orientation since I’m using it on my iPad. Also, it would be nice to be able to just save it into a file as a PDF document since I have to submit it as an “attachment” to a SM on a government website. The directions are confusing as to which is the best way to download the data and in what form it will be sent. I guess I’m use to the desktop app where I can select which reports I want and need to submit to my doctor.

I prefer the graphics in Accu-Chek Connect.

2023-10-18

For many years of glucose testing I did not know of this application, and I was using Aviva and later Aviva Plus meters. In the abrupt change to the Guide Me system, I was referred to MySugr. As if the name were not cute enough, MySugr’s graphics were clearly not aimed for my age bracket—I found the entire application repellent. I went back to Apple’s App Store: and I feel that Connect is exactly what I was hoping to find.

The learning curve may be a little steeper, and fortunately I do not require the more specialized and complex features which Connect has available, but clearly the application has been built by very intelligent people over a long period of time. Even if you need specific assistance, help is only a phone call away. I have always admired Roche’s service, support and accuracy, and I think this software is a very good ambassador for the company. Very well done!

Pretty “Okay”

2023-11-19

So far I’ve used AccuChek for almost a month along with an additional log on paper just in case something goes wrong. I’ve had no trouble pairing both of my meters to AccuChek like some people have mentioned.
What I noticed is that there is no option to add more than one type of insulin (for example, when you take your long lasting medicine and your fast acting).
But overall, AccuChek is working for me but it seems like it hasn’t been updated in a while and could use some more depth with options.

App works as promised!!!

2023-12-20

In the past I’ve given AccuChek a very low rating but I have found a remedy to the issue of the information not transferring from the meter to
AccuChek . I was running AccuChek as well as the My Sugr app and when two apps are being used at the same time only one gets the readings and the other does not. Once I deleted the other app the ACCU-Chek Connect app has been working perfectly. So for those that are having difficulty in getting AccuChek to function properly delete the other app and the problem should be resolved as it appears that the meter can only transfer the readings to one app only.

It works for me.

2024-01-21

AccuChek has a very low rating not really sure why. But I don’t need anything other than a running record of my GL’s and I like the simple UI AccuChek has. The UI of the Mysugr app is obnoxious, I don’t need fancy colors, and I don’t need nag screens exhorting me to set up purchase subscription plans for test strips. When switching to a replacement meter the pairing is a complete PIA. I had to completely blow out, and re-install AccuChek to pair the new meter.

It just won’t pair

2024-02-22

I bought a new ACCU-CHEK-Chek Aviva Connect after my old one died. And about the same time, I bought a new iPhone 7 Plus updated to iOS 11.2.6

As a point of reference, my iPhone 6 with iOS 10.2 worked flawlessly with my old Aviva Connect device.

Not anymore.

No matter what I do now, it wont pair. I restarted the phone three times. Removed AccuChek and reinstalled four times. I then turned off Bluetooth three times. I even took off the phone case and have cycled thru the pairing process at least twenty (20) times. It’s as if the device’s Bluetooth feature is broken.

I’m totally dumbfounded and frustrated.

I am taking the Aviva device back and hopefully have better results with another unit. If that doesn’t work, then I will definitely blame AccuChek .

If it is in fact the device, I will update this rating.

UPDATE:
It appears the culprit was the Apple iOS. Since updating to 11.3, my Accu-Chek Aviva Connect works again. As does the Bluetooth connection in my Ford Sync radio. My apologies to AccuChek Developer. I love my Accu-Chek Aviva again and the convenience of keeping accurate records.

It doesn’t work

2024-11-15

It tries to look all modern but basic functionality is broken. I have Bluetooth turned on and working (connects to my car and speaker fine). Yet it only received my very first reading from the device, when I first paired it. Subsequent times the device said “transfer is taking longer than usual”, then it tells me to put the device next to the phone. The device and phone were already side by side on my table.

I also had a ton of trouble pairing with the device. I could press every button except the pair button. I was only able to pair it by turning Bluetooth OFF, and then letting it prompt me to turn it back on.

This app is Unreliable

2024-11-15

AccuChek started out working fine then drops off, then starts fine then drops off...
It’s completely buggy I have the best phone and I have the best IT guy and they’re telling me it is not my phone and it is not me.
They’ve checked this out thoroughly they say it’s AccuChek . AccuChek needs to be fixed. So if you use it don’t expect much you may be lucky to be able to transfer your results to your phone. But it be just as easy to carry your meter with you to your doctor instead of trying to load it up on my phone. I’ve spent over an hour playing with this thing it’s just not worth your time just take the meter to your doctor if that’s why you need it on your phone.

Limited IPhone 6+ on iOS 11

2024-11-15

I like the overall idea, but have found it limited. AccuChek will only store 7 additional medications ( no matter how much you try). You can not edit them, if you make a mistake that’s it. The lack of ability to export information to an email address to send to the doctor for review (because they have all the time in the world to review your phone screen). To be able select what data / graphs going back to a selected date to email to the doctor. And to be able to enter the amount of insulin taken or set daily.

Apple health connectivity?

2024-11-15

Nice beginning of an app (though I like the website better). I find that it is a little slow to enter my info - but I do like that I can add pictures as well as carbs. My big gripe is that it does not sync with the apple health app - yes it writes carbs and BG, but it would be more useful if it could read and write these as well as insulin. Right now, AccuChek neither reads nor writes insulin to the health app. This would make AccuChek much more useful.

Meal reporting

2024-11-15

I’ve be using AccuChek for several years and it had been great to use. But the new newest update by Apple IOS has already caused some concern. Before the BG results is transferred the the screen changes to to the Apple home page. If you back to AccuChek your results my have transferred so that you can enter the additional information to receive to required insulin dose. But that’s no always the case.

I encountered another problem today. With will not connect with the Bluetooth. I don’t know if it’s a problem with the meter, OS 14 or I’ve did something wrong. It did work so what yesterday.

I haven’t change anything on the bolus advisor time blocks but since the recent IS 14 changes the reading for BG before or after meals go to none. You then have to make the change yourself as to which meal your recording.

Works

2024-11-15

Does what it supposed to!
Below is my original review. Since then I have talked to tech support & I understand where they stand & fully agree!
If you want your results card to your iPhone (not sir if androids, maybe) than this is the hardware/software to use. Cheaper than some other units on the market & it works well! Most others ate not supported by most insurance companies. Works well with iPhone health app.

Lately the upload results lag, in fact you won’t see it until you click on last upload, go back & the latest will be there!
It seems developer is NOT touching it. iOS keeps updating but AccuChek is, as if today 9 months old! Hell, 9 months ago we were on iOS 12.
Other than that, it’s an ok app, I recommend the device & AccuChek !
AND, they have good customer support!

Ensure availability of App in all Regions/countries in Apple & Play stores

2024-11-15

Dear Developer please introduce AccuChek for whole world particularly south asia i installed app and enjoying peace of mind as it is very ease to store your record. The Accu Check devise is easily available in Pakistan also and i recommended to my family members and friends there but unfortunately they all are claiming to not availability of Accu-check Connect App in Pakistan region in Apple store and Play store. Please ensure its availability for all regions of world in Apple and Play stores.

Printouts are available

2024-11-15

I complained about the lack of printouts and got a message to call Accu-check. So glad I did! You can get printouts but only if you create an online account. It’s easy. Just create an online account, upload your data and you have many options for reports. Thanks ACCU-CHEK for explaining it to me.
Also after reading other reviews I must say that it syncs perfectly with my iPhone X running version 11.3.
