hearingOS - Hearing Aid App Reviews

Wanted to see if this was a viable solution before my relative needs a full on hearing aid. It was not a very good experience and would drive me crazy I think.

I tried playing with the “UI”. There is none basically. It’s just random sliders. EQ I guess on the top? On the bottom I found L/R balance. Point is that my use case... well there’s written instructions for the television remote, ya know? Hunting in the dark for settings isn’t fun for me either.

I have two stars because I only tried with AirPod Pro and another Bluetooth headset. Maybe wired works better, but that’s not feasible on iPhone anymore, literally by design. Also, I’m looking for a solution without wires, if able without going to the aforementioned hearing aid.

Crisp clean sound definitely the one you are gonna want to have especially with the volume to the max; you won’t have that feeling of throwing your phone as hard as you can and running your face through a plate glass window.

It’s not free. There’s a free trial. That is different than free, but hucksters will take you in unless you are paying attention.
It also doesn't help with hearing aids. It’s supposed to turn your device into an aid to hearing.
That didn't work either.

I wanted to use hearingOS kind of as a monitor for theater. I was going to put my phone where it would be able to pick up what was going on an use my AirPods to listen from outside however, hearingOS made tons of extra noise that wasn’t there in the first place and the sliders were of no use. If you need to cancel your subscription go to the Apple store and go to your account, once you are there you should be able to find your subscriptions and then cancel.

I’m just now hearing about the subscription. Not worth it. We’ve used this for a few days. Occasionally it has been a godsend. Mostly it hasn’t worked. Disconnects very often. I haven’t been able to understand what it wants me to do to get it working again. Quite frustrating. Works randomly but not reliably.

Horrible app. Does not work at all. hearingOS will not even start, I tap on hearingOS icon, it opens for a moment then it shuts down, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled at least 5 tiMes with no luck. To top it all off I was charged $127+ for a year subscription and I can’t even use hearingOS nor will anyone from the development team respond to my numerous emails. Nothing but shady people taking others money. If I could give them 0 stars I surely would.

This used to work with my hearing aid. It suddenly quit. I’m very disappointed as it was the only app that would connect my aid to my audio book on the iPhone. My aides aren’t designed to connect via Bluetooth except for the phone, but this did connect me. I’m so lost without this ability to hear my audio books on Overdrive.

I couldn’t find instructions anywhere for hearingOS. It has a bunch of slider controls and not one of them is labeled. How hard would it be to put some labels on the sliders? Also it was difficult to use in conversation as I could hear my own voice with a slightly delayed echo. A Bluetooth lapel mic on your partner is probably a lot more effective and cheaper in the long run.

This has to be the next generation of hearing aids, but there’s still work to do. hearingOS has sliding bars but no labels. It is not intuitive and needs to be. I’d like to NOT hear myself when I speak. Thanks, though, for all your work to this point.

I am always struggling to discern words that I almost hear. Tried this out & so far in this work environment it is working really well.

I have no idea what slider does what. I could speed the voice up or slow it down and deep. Started to feel like an LSD trip. Listening to TV was weird too. My experience didn’t make me want to commit to the one year cost. Had there been instruction to dial in a good sound, I would have seriously considered it. I am going deaf.

hearingOS asks me to join the monthly subscription and I cannot cancel that through hearingOS . Hope this can be resolved.

There is no free trial, they charge your bank account as soon as you subscribe. hearingOS is not useful as a hearing aid. There is a very large and conspicuous delay between the sound in the room and the sound delivered to your ears. You always hears the sound twice so this aphis a failure. This company is a thief and Apple is in bed with them

hearingOS barely functions and is far from intuitive. The sliders are unlabeled and are therefore useless. If you try clicking a button hearingOS takes a few seconds to respond. $10 a month for an app this terrible is robbery. To end your subscription go to setting, iTunes & Apple Store, click on Apple ID on top, view Apple ID, and click subscriptions to cancel.

First, the sliders have no labels requiring the user to have esp. in order to use hearingOS . Second, on my IPod Touch with the latest OS, hearingOS “froze” and I could not use the sliders. Finally, after I exited hearingOS I could no longer hear any audio through my new Apple AirPods, even after I deleted hearingOS . hearingOS seems like a good concept but did not work for me as advertised.

It does make a difference words are easier to understand

Everything is definitely louder but there are a LOT of bizarre noises that are made seemingly from hearingOS itself and there are no instructions or descriptions on or about the ‘sliders’ or any other useful information included. What in the world?!? Wraps it up for me!

hearingOS does nothing, and it tries to make you pay for what is effectively a UI screen with unmarked sliders, I believe the 5 star reviews are false. You’ll notice many of them have no words, just 5 stars and a name.

hearingOS is a waste, remember to go into your Apple ID in settings and UNSUBSCRIBE or they will charge you.

After trying to use it for few days, I can only say that this is a SCRAP!
And I don’t believe a single word any more, in what is written in marketing text.
To me it looks, that at Apple nobody is qualifying Apps anymore, before they get listed in shop.
Disappointing!

I don’t understand why it automatically charged me annual fee even after I deleted hearingOS right after I tried to use and failed. Hope there is a way to refund 89 USD which was charged today!! I didn’t chose a annual extension which means an annual extension is a default setting, which is ridiculous!!

hearingOS has potential, but there are a bunch of sliders that have no labels and there is no tutorial teaching you how to optimize the sound settings. I cancelled my membership within 30minutes of downloading

Too much echo (latency)

Terrible, confusing interface with no explanation on how to use controls, and worse, trying to find the settings to cancel the free trial is almost impossible.

In concept, this is a great idea which could definitely help a lot of people. In practice, this is just another poorly designed application that is clearly created to maximum profit with minimal effort or value.

Ow...Horrible feedback when I tried them with AirPods! Got irritated that I had to go through the whole multi-step process of unsubscribing, or be charged $83+ for a year subscription.

I opened hearingOS on my phone (iPhone X) using AirPods and the hearingOS let out the most deafening screech of extra noise and the tv show I was watching. hearingOS User interface is also unusable

I tried to use this outside to keep flies away but you have to use headphones to make it work? Makes no sense !
