Website and app are a disaster.
I Made my flight reservations from the USA to Ireland on the Air Lingus site with out any problem. When it came to booking a rental car on the Air Lingus, regular site. I had no success and had to book through Ryan Air, with their site it was a breeze. That was back in April. Today, August 1, I tried to make another car rental reservation, now 4 Months later and the problem still exists. I even tried the app both times and the app doesn’t facilitate car rental bookings. This is the same issue I had as a few months as previously, I successfully booked rental cars on the Air Lingus site many times over the years. Please note this is a site issue and not the device. It’s the same website that Ryan Air uses so why the problem. I can’t be the only customer with this issue. When I book a flight note Air Lingus website I should be able to book my car also or even separately. I should not have to go to Ryan Air to make a car booking. Please explain this issue and why it lasted so long.
First of, flew in Business from LA to Dublin on business and the plane was super old and one of the worse business classes compared to other airlines. Second, flew economy from Dublin to LA because I couldnt upgrade online but there were seats available that were given to another couple. Furthed, my bf was selected for pre screeninf which made us be at security and customs an hour longer than we should have. I have flown on other airlines before and never had security issues like this. This airline vs what you get for it is not worth a dime. FYI paid over 4K for 2 tickets.
It doesn’t allow you to rate less than 1 star as I would put it at a -2 stars! Why? It doesn't provide boarding passes, it doesn’t provide terminal or gate information for departure or arrival gates. It doesn’t provide baggage carousal information or remind or update you of flight/ departure delays. It is basically useless unless you want to see the same data as the ticket email they sent you. Psst, Aer Lingus App designers, visit American or United for ideas on how a mediocre airline app should work. Now, put down the pint and get after it!
App is useless
The app is useless if you have a multi-city booking. Seems a little ridiculous I can’t view, check-in, get a mobile boarding pass for my flight to Berlin, just because I’m flying back from Amsterdam. Mobile site is a nightmare. It wouldn’t let me check in, even though the time had passed for checking in to begin. I’ve also already entered all my personal information when I made a profile, but have to re-enter when you check in under your profile - what’s the point?
I’m so embarrassed that Aer Lingus is our national airline. It took 12 emails and 7 months to get my points added after several flights. Once I was late for a connection (no fault of mine) and was made pay full price for the next flight they then refused to accept the points for it. On another flight had no option to choose my seat the number rang out several times now i’m beside the loo at the very back. Got the credit card but Avios only accepts MasterCards what a fiasco. Please Aer Lingus make me proud again.
Semi-useful but really glitchy
The app works decently for single-flight trips. If you have a multi stop trip, however, don’t even bother. It won’t let you check in via the app, and won’t let you view flight details even once you’ve checked in online. Also half the time I try to view something it pops a message saying wrong method used to view page. Kind of like the app doesn’t work with itself.
Not bad but
Agree with others it useless if have multi-city booking. I do however like that it updates the days until trip. Also no option in app to add details to calendar in phone or share details. Not a big deal but one of the few apps that doesn't have this feature. Having said that I will say I love flying with Aer Lingus and always have. 🇮🇪❤️
The app is absolutely worthless since you can do almost nothing with it. After downloading the app I found that I couldn’t check into flight, look at the flight itinerary, or load my boarding passes. Not sure what the point of this app is cause it serves less of purpose than the Expedia app I used to actually book my flights. Developers need to update this because it is way behind other airlines such as Delta, American, and United.
More app support and updates needed
Trying to use the check in feature on the app but once you get there the message says it's not available. We fly Aer Lingus between Dublin and California by default because it offers the times we need to travel. Other than that, it is quite obvious that the money generated by its customers is not put back into product upgrade and development both in flight and technology.
Poor user experience
Upon opening the app to check in for my flight, the app suggested I update the version which I dismissed. Then every button I clicked in the Aer Lingus app a pop up came telling me to upgrade, essentially bricking the app. On top of that some of the pop ups didn’t even allow you to click to upgrade, only to dismiss. Dissappointed in the clear pack of thought for the user experience.
I downloaded the app thinking it would save time checking flight status and checking in. Since I had flights that included more than one stop, it says it was unable to look up any information on my flights. It told me to visit their website. Why else would I use the app other than checking flight status and checking in?
Useless for MultiCity bookings
This app is completely useless if you’ve booked your flight for a multi city trip. I’m flying into Edinburgh through Dublin, and I’m planning to fly back into Dublin through Glasgow, and since there are multi city flights, you cannot get boarding passes, check in or check flight status through this app which renders the app completely useless! What a waste.
I am at the airport in Amsterdam. I purchased a rat business class ticket from. IAD to Frankfurt and a return from Ams via Dublin after being in Ireland for 10 days. Are Lingus told me I could use lounge 41 here in Ams, but we were refused entry. They said we had to fly from Dublin today not 10 days from now.
Functionality Limited, Airline No Better
The Aer Lingus app has the most limited capabilities I have seen in an airline app (I fly weekly and have a dozen or so flight apps) and the app flight info does not align with info on the website. Experience with the airline has been wretched, from communication to customer service, so I suppose the app is an accurate representation of the Aer Lingus experience.

The app will give you flight info ex times but wont let you check in .. developers need to work on that..even after you physically check in, you cant download the boarding pass..
