Great improvements!

Now that Aeroplan is integrated into AirCanadaAeroplan , everything Air Canada is together in one place. So much easier. Looking forward to a better check-in process, and maybe to manage my reservations directly in AirCanadaAeroplan .

Is this app done?

REVISING TO A 1 out of 5.

AirCanadaAeroplan is so bad that you will receive a notification on your iPhone that a flight schedule has changed. BUT open AirCanadaAeroplan and there will be no such alert (there is no alert screen) and the flight in your itinerary will still show...the old schedule. Quit AirCanadaAeroplan and restart, same thing, no update. IF ANYTHING AirCanadaAeroplan SHOULD ALWAYS SHOW THR CORRECT INFORMATION. The right way to build an app is for it to pull updates the second you relaunch it or pull down from the top to refresh or for Pete’s sake offer a button that says “Check for updates.” No idea what Air Canada is doing.

And the little bell at the top. That should not lead to a setting. Those go in “Settings.” That bell icon should lead to, wait for it...Alerts (seen and unseen).

Absolutely unacceptable.

Seriously, it’s like they got half way through making AirCanadaAeroplan and then kind of gave up and embedded a web view to finish it off. My boarding passes don’t show up in AirCanadaAeroplan even after checking in. You can’t add your pass to the wallet unless you long click on the link? You can only retrieve your pass by going back to check in where it then tells you you’ve already checked in (duh) and then gives you the option to view your pass! Thing is, that looks like a call each time to the internet so if you’re phone for whatever reason doesn’t have a signal at the gate...

Like how is this considered version 5 of an app when I don’t see it as version 1?

Shared calendar with shared reservation deletes flights

We have a family shared iCloud calendar. We also share reservations in AirCanadaAeroplan . The problem is that when the other person taps on Trips at the bottom, AirCanadaAeroplan sends a deleted notification to the Calendar Inbox to everyone else. It says “Flight … deleted by …”.

This should be fixed ASAP.

Also, there are a lot of taps (steps) to see basic information, and information comes piece-wise: why can I see all information other than the terminal info, which I can see on the next screen? Why not include it in the previous screen? And so on.

Several bugs with the UI - just terrible

There are several bugs. When you click on the Aeroplan tab, the LCBO pop upder appears persistently. Touching close or the X in the top corner merely minimizes the pop under until it appears a second later. This repeats to infinity. Completely useless tab as it’s just the same as banner!!

If you’re logged into AirCanadaAeroplan , clicking on estore link mandates another login, even through you’re logged into AirCanadaAeroplan . There’s no authentication handshake - again, this is a simple bug to avoid, and suggests the Air Canada developers are incompetent, or their app vendor should be fired.

Embarrassingly Arrogant Customer Service

Air Canada lost my bag while I traveled from YYZ to DCA about 10 days ago. You would expect that after having the audacity to charge for checked baggage they’d at least attempt to get in touch with me to make things right after my bag was delayed for 3 days. But no, not only does Air Canada not have the shame to reach out. They don’t feel the need to respond to my requests submitted via their own form. They know I paid via their own app but will act like they don’t have any accountability to their customers.

By

Great Design

AirCanadaAeroplan runs smoothly. The user interface is intuitively designed. Easy to find functions like booking a trip, checking your itinerary, and traveller settings.

By

Horrible! Last minute flights are no longer 12,500

Before AirCanadaAeroplan launched i checked for flights and the Aeroplan app had flights for 12,500 points everyday to my destination ...this new app is saying 30,000 for the same flight- I’m hoping this is an app issue; Not our hard earned points being watered down to more then half!! Please fix this- very few people are flying, you can’t tell me all the flights are sold out!

Change Seats?!?

AirCanadaAeroplan is only moderately good for viewing information. Actually doing anything like booking or changing seats is terrible. Example: I currently have round trip tickets and I want to change seat location on the return flight. Every time I try, it shows the right flight/plane but shows I’m sitting in the same seats as my first flight (which I’m really not).

By

Excellent

AirCanadaAeroplan is an excellent way to track your trips and refer to your itinerary as often as you like. Any changes to you flight will be posted here.

By

User Friendly

I find AirCanadaAeroplan easy to use.

Wouldn’t Expect Anything More!!!

I swore to never get on an Air Canada flight, EVER again - probably 3-4 years ago.

Let me tell you, forget AirCanadaAeroplan, forget Air Canada all together. This company must be stopped. Rude staff, subpar services, out of date airplanes, and now AirCanadaAeroplan... I don’t even know where to begin with this piece of garbage. This is a disgrace to Air Canada, but honestly I wouldn’t expect anything more from them.

By

Still waiting...

Still waiting for the Air Canada app to include basic features like “sort by” as well as filters. I can’t even believe I have to make this comment/request!

It is easier, faster and better to use Star Alliance partner apps (ex. United, Lufthansa) to search for flights from and to Canada.

The Air Canada app is like going and buying a new car with wind-up windows and manual steering.

By

Not bad

Fairly intuitive interface, really simple. Used to not be so great, but it has tremendously improved. Still lacking a few features, such as direct access to Aeroplan, but other than that it’s pretty good.

Uneducated attendance.

One of attendance at the check desk stop me on board, I was trying going backhome but she hold me for 30min for non-excited documents form. So asked her to talk to supervisor and show me the form or link, they can not find the form at the end. She was uncooperative and unwilling to help and said, “I can’t let you go unless you present the form!” Just saw another unexpected staff with aircanada again.

By

Atrocious Customer Service

Air Canada’s customer support line will take at LEAST an hour of being on hold and bouncing between menus.

My emails for reimbursements and flight cancellations go completely unnoticed.

There needs to be substantial improvements in these areas, especially during Covid-19 when the regulations of flying change constantly.

By

Fire your developers and start over

This has to be the most comically bad app I’ve ever interacted with. AirCanadaAeroplan itself maybe 50% of the time, and the other 50% requires a reboot. Within AirCanadaAeroplan , I’m lucky if anything actually works - “switch seats” is a dead button that triggers nothing.

Modify my reservation? Forget about it.

Contact Air Canada? Doesn’t work either. And when I tried to call, I was told they will only accept calls within two days of my reservation due to high work queues.

Based on AirCanadaAeroplan UX and their level of service, I will never book Air Canada again

Mr

Very convenient app, easy to navigate and a lot of nice features

By

Not easy to navigate

It could be a lot better organized. Also, I’m not a fan of AirCanadaAeroplan redirecting me to Air Canada’s website for certain features and requests.

By

Stranded in Africa

If possible please avoid at all cost. Their policies contradict. AirCanadaAeroplan serves no purpose it’s almost impossible to get in touch with a representative and I just realized they canceled the second half of my round trip and kept the money so now I’m effectively stranded in a 3rd world country in Africa

By

Horrible app!!

AirCanadaAeroplan malfunction and the worst airline app. International travelers beware. This airline app might be good for Canadians but everyone else not so well. Check in has it limited and you do better check-in at the airport!! It slow and many bus and no whistles!!

By

Need to complete redo!

AirCanadaAeroplan is so buggy and parts of it just stopped working. Recently AirCanadaAeroplan freezes up and locks information in that can’t be deleted. So if I book something last week and I go to book something new now the last week item shows up and you can’t get rid of it and you can’t book anything new.
Also on a sidenote this new reservation software is terrible terrible terrible! Having to wait one and a half to two hours to get somebody on the phone?? Then the recorded director of reservations says you can’t get in the que either and wants to refer you to their website or mobile app which doesn’t work either??
My god this is so frustrating. Air Canada you really need to get your act together here you’re a loosing it!!!

not a very inspired (or practical) app

When it takes more effort to use an app rather than a mobile browser to get something done on one’s smartphone...then you know it’s best to just delete said app. Given the high quality and functionality of the apps of several of its sister Star Alliance members, I had high hopes and expectations of Air Canada’s app. To those considering a download: save yourselves the time, effort, data, and memory space - AC’s app development team still has a ways to go. (Still, I remain cautiously, optimistically hopeful and look forward to the day when a re-download will payoff!)

By

beautifully designed and highly functional

I read a few reviews and realized that for others a review is an easy place to complain about the air travel experience in general. That aside, this is a beautifully designed and highly functional app. It is clearly the best in Canada! Great job. You are clearly taking steps to always be improving. Thank you. Now if you can fix all those other things in the physical world...

By

Horrific

AirCanadaAeroplan is horrendous (can’t even look up a reservation - what’s the point?!), not to mention their customer service line HANGS UP ON YOU. These inefficiencies have caused myself and family members hours in waiting for replaced connections that could have been very simply re-booked far earlier via a proper customer service channel (a 2-hour line at the airport doesn’t count). A major airline in today’s day and age that can’t figure out simple customer service needs to correct that as soon as possible or else business travelers will continue to avoid them at all costs.

By

Bring back the old app

Where to start. AirCanadaAeroplan is now so complicated it’s a 4 or 5 step process just to get your boarding pass into the Apple wallet.
I Cannot understand why the checkin process is also so complicated, thank goodness I figure out how to copy and past my booking reference number. If not you’ll have to remember it to checkin and then display your boarding pass later. Super painful. They should take a lesson from Delta and make it easy, even for a non app savvy person.
I recommend going to a checkin counter if you have time. It would be a lot easier.

By

Terrible

Absolutely horrible. I fly Air Canada almost every week. AirCanadaAeroplan basically doesn’t work and doesn’t permit online check-in. As a result, the Air Canada reservation phone numbers have been inundated with calls and the wait times are egregious. Air Canada employees at La Guardia and Pearson acknowledge the issue and say that they have heard that online check-in may not be up and running again until February. I will be switching to another airline because losing access to online check-in means having to get to the airport far earlier in order to make a flight. What a disaster.

By

No Boarding Pass

Although I went thru the check in process multiple times, and got a message that my boarding passes were automatically loaded to to AirCanadaAeroplan , they never appeared. I guess I’ll get paper ones at the airport.

Also, I was able to upgrade and choose new seats from AirCanadaAeroplan , which was nice But pricing was quoted in local currency (I’m on vacation in Costa Rica). So I had to convert in my head to figure out how much it cost, and I’ll be charged an international currency exchange fee by my credit card. Should be set up to let me choose the currency.

By

Unbelievably bad update

This is probably the worst update I have ever come across on my iPhone. Almost all functionality has been removed!!! Unable to manage seat assignments, eUpgrade gone, there is no details beside departure time. Can’t even see what seat I have. Surely this was some sort of a mistake? Its like when It accidentally reverts back to a year old version. I keep expecting an email from AC saying we apologize for this error and will be restoring AirCanadaAeroplan momentarily.

Whomever was responsible for this update should be terminated immediately.

By

Horrible-other PASSENGER info leaked!

This is maybe the second app review I have written in my life. But AirCanadaAeroplan is horrible. I preferred the previous version. Retrieving your booking is easy but AirCanadaAeroplan decided to change it to some random flight I never booked with a different email and passenger information. I all of a sudden had someone else’s information to access and flight details! I obviously deleted it but that just worries me that anyone else can end up with my info and flight details accidentally.

By

Times out constantly

This is the worst app I have ever used. It constantly times out. It’s a simple user interface but it won’t allow you to check in. After 5 attempts of trying to bring up my flight, it still failed. Then the next day, it magically showed up with my information. They need new engineers. The website had the same issue so I had call to make my appointment because it timed out on the site. They need to invest in their development because this is embarrassing.

By

Terrible update

The AC app was ok before this update 5.0.1. Now it’s completely useless. Doesn’t show seat maps, doesn’t load my booked flights (had to add each one with the record locator number), and check in didn’t work either, just to mention a few things. Talk about a waste of time and total frustration. There are fantastic airline apps out there. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Whoever approved this update clearly has never used an airline app. I wanted to give negative stars but that’s not possible.

By

Missing key functions

Thanks to the migration to the new Air Canada reservation system, I was not able to register for eupgrades and as a result my wife (who rarely travels) and I had to sit in the back even though we have a ton of upgrade points. Every time I called air Canada they told my you upgrade online or with AirCanadaAeroplan . AirCanadaAeroplan only gives errors...so frustrated. If your product is not ready for release then don’t release it! Testing fail, software QA should be held accountable.

By

Poor functionality

Half a star, blank app , can not change currency and many other taps do not function . Bring back the old app until you fix this one, when this one is ready, it seriously needs to be evaluated by someone( a traveller who uses it a lot ) before you release it, otherwise , I guarantee you that you are losing business to other companies because of AirCanadaAeroplan version, I hope someone listens because I like Air Canada.

By

Worse than the previous app

I’m a super elite flyer on AC and AirCanadaAeroplan is a huge step backwards. The checkin process makes no sense. You need to take several steps to get a boarding pass into your Apple wallet. It’s also impossible to find your altitude status or sign into Altitude. As well, I’ve noticed that your Trips don't get updated when you modify a reservation. You just see several versions of the same trip.

They took this one out of the oven too soon.

By

Bring back the old app

While the new design is nice the functionality of AirCanadaAeroplan is horrible. It’s not intuitive at all making checking in and getting flight details difficult and requiring multiple clicks. But by far the worst feature is the inability to see seat information. This is basic information for any traveler or people booking and should be mandatory for any airline app. AC you are better than this!
