Poor experience

So this is a ride share app that functions with local school districts- school districts also hold the permissions for notifications, changes /updates. For example what we went thru today. At 8am the school made a change to the morning ride, no notification goes out to the parents… thankfully common sense helps. However my evening rides on HopSkipDrive showed like normal no changes. At 6 pm I get a call from my daughter that the driver isn’t there I check HopSkipDrive … there Zaide so I call ride Shae oh look school made changes… great thankfully their teenagers and I live in a great area with public transportation… but again no confirmation (rideshare company leaves it to the school… school leaves it to ride share… I love this no accountability aspect. I’ve already filed a complaint with the school… for me is a free ride for the kids to go to school nothing more. I’ll keep a closer eye on my younger kido and we will get him a cell phone bc this ride share doesn’t hold accountability like the school.. they put it off on the school - school puts it off on them.
HopSkipDrive experience is limited.. don’t expect Uber.. style presentation. It’s basic I don’t think it shows a live version of anything it’s always “pending location”
As a parent I would be very careful if you have young kids. You could easily end up in a situation of panic and lack of communication will be at the center.

If I could give 0 stars I would…

We have used HopSkipDrive a little over 2 years. Initially good service but the last year went from good to crappy. Drivers don’t even go to my door. I get a text on my phone driving to work - “I’m here hazards flashing on car outside” - so what I’m supposed to send my kid out in the dark??? What is that? Where is the safety measure of identifying yourself before you get in the car? I was standing outside waiting a few minutes- to see if the driver would even come out of her car and never happened. Plus she didn’t even bother to park outside my residence - her car was 3 bldgs down!!!! Drivers supposed to use a secret word- what secret word??? - last drivers never even mentioned to my kids. Charging patrons for safety measures that don’t exist!!!

Every time I am late for school.

This is an amazing service. A lot of people are very nice but they’re drivers who if you leave something and then you shut the door they automatically just speed off. I think that’s horrible. especially, if you’re in a neighborhood I also think that they should be more polite and they should wait if you forget something to like wait for them. I remember a time I was sitting outside waiting for my driver. She was three hours late. I got no text no call nothing so I was the one who had called Hop skip, and they kept telling me. Oh yeah, she’s five minutes away. Well they were lying and I was late to school by the time I got to school it was a lunch. I was originally supposed to be at school at 9:32! but no, I was at school at 12:31. this is ridiculous. I honestly don’t want a service that’s just gonna be poor and is it gonna help at all I’m sorry. I am fed up with late drivers, no communication, and lack of taking to the parent!! I want the drivers and I shouldn’t be riding a review like this. I honestly am very annoyed very very fed up with this I really really think that this service should definitely be taken up another level because people shouldn’t feel like this. About GOING TO SCHOOL. PLEASE FIX YOUR APP, AND TRAIN YOUR DRIVERS TO BE ON TIME! ITS NOT THAT HARD.

They will endanger your children

Hopskip drive DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN! I was a driver and was deactivated after I refused to take a 7 year old boy to school and leave him in the dark in #detroit. I arranged a later pickup with the mom, and thought I was doing the right thing. I figured the child would arrive to school as the doors are opening and he wouldn’t be left alone. Shortly after that, my driver metrics fell. I never even knew we had a driver metrics, and I never received a driver success card. this app trust and safety team refused to do a thorough investigation, they refuse to contact the child’s mother to confirm my story. They would rather a driver leave a seven-year-old boy outside in the cold alone and the dark in the streets of Detroit then arrive a few minutes later I was a driver for three years and they banned me. While they allow other drivers on the platform to continue to drive. I’ve heard numerous complaints from my young riders that their driver was speeding, one even saw a beer bottle upfront with their driver, another one was rude, they don’t care. They never gave me a second chance. The appeal process is a joke. If you sign up with Hop Skip be mindful that your child may be put in danger.

Disaster

I read all the positive reviews before booking my first ride and I felt very confident. My first 2 rides were a disaster. I booked a ride at 8 am to drive my daughter to high school.
The first ride got cancelled the night before at 11:50 pm. I didn't receive a text or an email to inform me. I found out on my own when I checked HopSkipDrive in the morning. I called them and they assured me another driver would claim the ride. At 7: 20 ,while at work, I received a text saying that the ride is now coming at 8:26 am. Then I received a call saying that it was cancelled and the next ride would come at 9 am! Way too late. I was at work, my daughter was alone waiting for someone to pick her up. It was extremely stressful. I had to cancel and call a friend.
Today, I decided to try again. My daughter was supposed to be picked up at 8. I got a call at 7:37 to tell me that the driver would be 2 hours late because of traffic. I had to cancel again and call another friend.
My experience has been very frustrating and stressful. Hop Skip Drive is not reliable. I know some people love it. It didn't work for me, 2 days in a row. You need a solid plan B when you book with them.

Shady practices, not sure if by the driver or app

Let me first say that this concept is amazing and in theory it is great but in practice, leaves much to be desired & has been disappointing!!
I have booked 2 rides now, with the instructions for the drivers to use a certain lane & park in the parking lot and meet my children at the flag pole.
Both rides, the drivers failed to follow the instructions left for them which resulted in an extra $10 “late fee”/ride being assessed! However, my kids were waiting at the designated spot the entire time waiting on the driver to meet and pick them up. I’m not sure if this is done on the drivers side to get paid more or if this is automatically assessed by HopSkipDrive , either way, this is an error on the drivers side & I shouldn’t be penalized. Additionally, when I have attempted to communicate with the drivers via HopSkipDrive , I do not get a response. That’s the last thing I need when I’m at work & cannot get to my children quickly due to traffic.

I was hopeful this was a perfect solution to our transportation dilemma but now I’m disappointed and scrambling for alternate solutions.

Astonishingly bad service

There is zero support for customers and drivers alike. My son’s ride was an hour late today because the service dropped his ride as she was en route to get him, and sent her in the opposite direction for another student. This is our eighth day using the service and I’ve had to email or call for support five times. I have not been able to talk to anybody, and only get emails saying someone will reach out to me soon. But they don’t.
They left him at school without telling me the driver had broken down last week. I had to leave work early to get him, an hour after he was supposed to have left. This is a nuisance for staff, myself, and my disabled son.
Please fix your significant communication issues! Please fix your app! We have to know where our children are!!!! We have to be able to work! Your drivers deserve better treatment, too!

Seems to have a lot of bad reviews

First HopSkipDrive is mainly for KIDS I think the developer should have think it through very thoroughly how to make HopSkipDrive work smoothly! You guys are dealing with kids and mainly their transportation to school. Being late is unacceptable sorry, plus the kids safely is also something really crucial here. Someone recommended HopSkipDrive to me and by reading the reviews not even trying to makes me SCARED to use it for my daughters morning drop off to school. You guys have to keep it together find something to make this work. It’s a nice concept but being late, kids being routed in different routes yeah that’s a no no. Sorry!
Star has nothing to do with my review, it’s just crazy how all this bad reviews I read is all bad, coming from a company that are dealing with kids.

Drivers never available

DPS cut bus services at my sons school this year so, as a single parent, getting him to school on time has been a challenge. I downloaded HopSkipDrive hoping to use it on days I needed to work early. I have attempted to use HopSkipDrive 4x over the past 2 weeks, including scheduling a ride 6 weeks out. HopSkipDrive always tells me there are no drivers available at my time. It suggests other times but this is for school drop off… so no, a ride 30 minutes after school starts is not going to work for us 🙄 It’s a great idea but terribly executed. They have very few drivers so this service just can’t be relied on. I hope they ramp up driver supply but until then it’s unusable.

Note: We live in Denver, CO which is advertised as an active market.

Be weary of business practices

Used the service many times. However, the business practices of the central office are not very upstanding and they will screw you out of money if given the opportunity. Be prepared for “it’s company policy” and other typical corporate responses, things you’d rather not hear from people with whom you entrust your children.

Also, we did have one issue where a not-so-knowledgeable driver took our daughter on an unusual route for some unknown reason and, not knowing where she was being taken, was freaked out. We have since made sure our kids have phones with them and check in regularly.

Since my wife and I both work it was originally a great solution to a relatively frequent problem however in light of these problems we have moved it into the “last resort” category.

Nope. Scammy.

Out of the many rides I have scheduled, about 90% of them never get booked with a driver. I’ve had maybe 3-4 GREAT drivers, but I’ve also had countless show up 10-15 minutes late, or never even head to the destination so I’m stuck looking for someone to pick my son up super last minute. Drivers can cancel on you, but if you cancel you get charged. Doesn’t matter if it’s within the hour or 6 hours from pick up time, it’s to not “inconvenience” the driver. My assumption at this point is drivers are booking rides then never doing the ride, assuming no one is going to email to get a refund so they still get paid. And even if you ask for a refund, you’ll just get a credit to your account for the cycle to continue. Good idea, awful execution.

Lots of last minute driver cancellations

I’m new to the service, but with a husband who travels & an office that can be 30-40 minutes or more away in traffic, I was excited to try the service. I booked three trips so far and two drivers cancelled hours before pick up. I give my kids the driver/car info before school. They say they’ll keep trying to find another driver for you, but it’s stressful to wonder if they will/won’t and you have to reach your kids (who are in school) to update the driver info and hope they think to check phones. Sticking with it, but it would be nice if you could rate the drivers for cancelling on you or to know that the service was prioritizing dependable drivers.

Inconsiderate

We have been using HopSkipDrive for a few months because my mom is a single mother who works 80+ hours a week and can’t pick up my little brother. There hasn’t been much of an issue until today when it is 99 degrees out and my little brother is out there waiting an extra 40+ minutes for this man to show up and get him. I called the company and all they did was tell me his location which I already knew. I think it is very unprofessional that even after booking a ride more than 8 hours in advance (because is “hard” to get a driver) the man can’t even show up on time! I understand there is “traffic” (as the representative I talked to said) but this is Colorado, there’s only traffic. Everyone knows to leave at least 20 minutes earlier to be on time.

Not too reliable

Been using them for about a week and it’s proving to be NOT so RELIABLE. The first day my boys were supposed to get picked up the driver was 15 minutes late. The school was emailing me and calling me. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to have my phone on me due to HIPPA. So I didn’t even know and needless to say my kids got out of school at 3pm we live about a 6-8 min car ride away and they were dropped off at 3:30. this app has a policy if the rider is 10+ minutes late they will charge an additional $10 fee. But if they’re late they don’t credit you back $10. But they did for me and she said it’s not part of our practice but because thrill is was their first ride we will refund you. Also they always seem to NOT find drivers but when they do it’s soooooo last minute. Ultimately I’m very disappointed in the service I have received and hope they improve how they operate. Because honestly US PARENTS need a service like this app but we don’t need the headaches and unreliability of not getting a ride for our kids/students.

Parents Pay Attn

In the beginning of the process on HopSkipDrive, if you cannot see anything or set up any personal information, such as Kids, cell, phone numbers, pictures, etc. then please reach out to the school or customer service of this app. First day, when too many teachers were logged onto my kids account had me worried sick as I could not watch my son on the way to school on a 26 minute drive. Luckily, he has a cell phone and named out loud landmarks and I tracked him that way. yes the results of the problem has been fixed. I wouldn’t want any other parent to have to go through what I did.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t

I use HopSkipDrive to access rides for my kids the school district provides. Usually everything works ok. But more often than I would like, the ride doesn’t show up, or shows up late. Additionally, drivers aggressively leave before they pick up my kids. They show up like 25 minutes early and then leave before the pick up time. And then report my kids as not being there. Somehow the drivers are clearly incentivized NOT to take kids to school. My guess is they get paid either way so if they take off without the kids to go back to Uber it works in their favor. In any case, its not the worse service out there and it’s also not the best.

Works great for me

I've used this app for a few months and it has worked great and been very helpful, with no issues worth mentioning.

The drivers are all nice and there has never been any problem at all. HopSkipDrive is convenient and intuitive.

Tech support has been great in the infrequent times I've had to deal with them. Only very minor things like small glitches or unusual behavior have cropped up, but they were corrected and not at all critical, same as any app that gets revisions as needed.

Can not complaint too much!

My daughter has been using this service for awhile and I can not complaints too much. The only thing I can say that need improvement is the communication with the driver. I had a situation when I couldn’t communicate with the driver because she was in the incorrect area. It fortunately worked out but when I called and texted I got no answer. I do understand the long exhausting wait for drivers because they’re short due to Covid. I hope that will improve more. Other than that, we truly love this service and I would recommend it to anyone.

First ride

It was my boys first ride this morning, he stated the ride was quiet and smooth, I got a good sense of the driver felt a sense of trust. I think he was kind and professional,the drop of was the same HopSkipDrive for some reason showed that they were still on the road until I got a call from the driver and a knock on my window that they were already home. The driver walked my son to my door and did not send him out on his own. That was great on his part and greatly appreciate that detail. Thanks again sir for that. In all I think this service is great

I have been using this app drivers to take my son from elementary school once a week in Laurel Canyon to his flag football practice in Playa Vista. The drivers have all been courteous, prompt, and get my son to his destination either on time or early. I couldn’t make this activity happen for him without this app. HopSkipDrive is easy to navigate, and there has always been a live person to speak with if I ever have questions, concerns or comments. I can talk with the driver as well. This is a terrific service.
