Markup – Highlight & Annotate Reviews

Iwasplanning to use this for studying instead of printing hundreds of sheets of paper. Markup would crash continuously or completely erase portions of highlights for no reason. Sometimes in the middle of the document so I had no idea until I scrolled up. It got to a point that the simple task of highlighting chapter would take three times longer instead of making things more efficient. I wanted it to work so badly, but when markups aren’t saved and there is no way to make progress saves, what’s the point? Back to paper I go.

Markup was initially free when I signed up for it in January with no further information provided by the developers that whatever documents you downloaded to it, were going to be hijacked and not allow you to access it until you sign up for their subscription which is $59. My seven day free trial is up today and I have been trying to cancel it. I now I have been charged with no way of getting a refund. I would have never downloaded documents into Markup if I would have known that it was going to be like this.

Flawed business model.. you need an account to perform basic annotations. There is not need to have an account especially with the need to track what you annotate online ( there is a setting to turn this off).. many pdf annotation application allow conversion of sites into pdf

There is no need to sign up for all these “features” especially with a subscription.. wrong on so many levels.

Markup has decent basic editing capabilities when it works. However, it crashes frequently resulting in a substantial amount of lost work even if you have been saving along the way. Really frustrating, and in my opinion not worth it.

I was using Markup to mark up and annotate music scores. When I finally went to export the first score I annotated as a flattened PDF, it saved, but upon looking at the file ALL of the annotations had shifted in some way or boxes were filled when they were not originally. If this problem were fixed it would be a great easy to use app, but this issue defeats the purpose of using Markup in the first place for me.

I use Markup for my school work and when ever I try to writing some this to do my math it always has spikes coming out of the numbers and letters also then they want you to pay . Honestly girrrrrllllll. Your better of using paper or docs cause just like what the heck oh well i hope this review helps y’all byeeeee

Markup is great when it works! But about every other session of using Markup, it crashes and I lose PAGES of work. Even after saving individual edits, when Markup crashes, I tend to lose a good portion of the already saved edits... Its 2017, figure out how to make your app auto save and not crash.

I find Markup great for my work with pdf files but after storing some files on Markup I can not open and it says ‘want to store more file? Sign up to Kdan Cloud to unlock the file restriction’.
Even though registration is free, if you do not want to get yet another cloud service you are trapped and I could not find information on the actual restriction as to find a way to work comfortably within he limits of it (is it number of files?if so, how many?) without this is definitely a 5 stars

I use this app for math PDFs that my school assigns me. However, after using the pen tool, it tries to “sharpen” the writing by making the tips of numbers sharper. That does not always help. Sometimes the middle of 3s stick out with a sharp point making it look weird and making it look not neat. It is annoying. Over that, it’s a fine app.

Updated review: Probably a good app; however, it's useless to me without an expensive annual (or monthly) subscription, which I simply cannot afford. I would consider a one-time purchase.

Over all experience is good. Sometimes your hand writing on pdf might be altered after save, some of them just disappear. Need to be better on saving hand writing notes.

Not much else to say. It does what it says and is a little more pleasant to work with (in general).

I have done most of my editing right on my smart phone which is amazing. There are features to highlight, change font color etc and it's all very simple. I'm not a techie so I've done basic editing tasks however converting a PDF on your phone is an accomplishment. Good app

I love Markup for annotating my college textbooks! If you are a college student this would be PEFECT for you. I specifically like how when I highlight the text it automatically copies into the annotation section so I don’t have to write an entire new note or copy/paste into a google doc. However, I wish I can see the entire statement that I highlight in the annotation section of BOTA without having to go back onto the page in which I highlighted the statement to begin with. Also, there should be something to explain exactly what BOTA is. I got bookmark and annotations but not the other letters.

I’ve been using Markup to analyze research papers, because it’s just like writing and highlighting on regular paper. Very helpful for classes, and taking notes.

Hi
Markup is generally very useful and im eager to buy ultimate one.
Theres a problem in saving pdf, especially las changes with typing tool.
For example i annotate, save and close the pdf, when im back las annotation seems have been deleted

This is the perfect app to download professor notes and use my iPad pencil to highlight, add notes pictures and it all saves in one great spot. I love everything about Markup for the free download!
