Couldn’t even use

I downloaded GreatPetCare and made an account, but once I had done so and tried to log in, it gave me a post-log-in splash screen….and nothing else. No continue button, no loading indication. Just a splash screen forever. So much for that.

Edit: Able to log into GreatPetCare on my iPad, but GreatPetCare was very buggy. I was able to add a photo for my first pet just fine, but for the second, it no longer gave me the option to add more photos from my library, only the one I already added or to take a new photo. When I finished creating the second pet’s profile, it didn’t take me to the home page as it did with the previous, so I accidentally created the profile twice in my confusion. When trying to add vets, I got an error message (once on the first one but was able to add it, couldn’t even finish typing my search on the second) advising me to make sure GreatPetCare was up to date, but I could not find instructions or an option to update GreatPetCare .

It has so MUCH POTENTIAL, but hasn’t gotten there yet

I really want to love GreatPetCare however it seems to promise more than it delivers. Customer derive used to be responsive however I also find that had fallen off (then again I don’t recall an app I have only had for 4 months and have had to reach out to customer support so often). The weight tracker I thought was great but redesign I can’t find it despite adding my pet’s weight to it. The pet food recall is great that is if they have the brand and even if they have the brand they may not have the actual product listed. Writing them to ask them to add it or providing a way for users to do so goes unanswered. I have paid for an annual subscription however since switching to a new iPhone GreatPetCare thinks my plan level is Free. However, any other app out there isn’t as good as PawPrint which is why it’s so frustrating that they cant seem to iron out there few wrinkles that seem to compound and detract from how amazing GreatPetCare could be.

Confusing layout and calendar problems

First, this is a very useful app when all involved collaborate. There are, however, problems.
First, it should open to a page that lists all your pets.
Second, once you click on one pet, it should stay there until you are done inputting rather than wait to ask which pet was tested or vaccinated.
Third, the calendar does not work well (at least on my iPhone SE under 11.4). There is no obvious place to touch so it selects a date. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. In this respect, particularly disturbing was that it would allow me to mark my dog as dead without a date —- and the date function doesn’t work. This means I get regular notifications of his meds and vaccinations.
I’d delete GreatPetCare if I didn’t have other pets on it.

Difficult to navigate

It’s gotten a lot harder to navigate since the redesign. There is no way to add medications they don’t have in their database, and there is no section for a list for medical conditions any more. Two of my pets have a lot of health issues, and adding “has a seizure disorder” or something to the timeline would quickly get buried by all of the information from their vet visits. I reached out to support and they said they would restore the medical conditions section, but it’s been about two months later and they have not yet. I think this is pretty important information for a dogsitter or whoever else is using GreatPetCare to access quickly, so I may find a new app soon.

Used to be Terrific, now it’s ok

Let me start off saying I’ve been using GreatPetCare for years. They used to not charge to verify vaccinations and this made it terrific to prove vaccinations when going to a groomer or boarding facility. Now it costs $5 each time to verify (with multiple pets, that adds up). Sure you can use it to upload and store your own copies of the records but that’s not any different than storing them on any cloud service. The weight tracker used to work, now it cuts off two months back. And it’s FULL of ads and articles now that it didn’t have before. I just wanted something to track my pets’ history.

Good But Needs Improvement

I really like paw print. It's nice to have an app with all my pets information. The layout is clean and I can find everything I need without much hassle. However, I think a few things need to be improved.

Update: Reminders haven't worked for the last few months. When they do work, there's no option to "mark as done", it just assumes you did the task and changes to the next occurrence. There should be a 'check it off as complete' before just disappearing. And there should be a 'previously done' section to keep track. Dropping a star because this makes it hard to know if I've done a task or not.

- Pets age. My dog is less than a year old. I'd like it to say months and weeks, not just 0 years old.

- The start page should include the most recent reminders. It's strange that I have to click the Reminder button to see tasks that I need to do.

- When editing a reminder, I always Delete it by accident because the Save button is in a different place than the Create button. Please make the Create and Save button at the bottom.

- I'd like to see a Supply page where I can keep track of food or meds that I need to reorder.

- Themes would be great. Especially if you could assign them to each pet. It'd make it less confusing.

All in all, this is a nice app that is great being free to use. There's a few basic tweaks that'd make it perfect.

I love this app! Let’s get that straight right now.

BUT!!! Ever since you started adding all of this newer stuff, GreatPetCare has become buggy I can’t seem to get off of one page it continuously tells me I have reminders and it won’t go to the page and tell me what they are. I can’t even get off the page that I am on without it glitching there is something seriously wrong. I have been a long term user and have all of my animals information in GreatPetCare even for those who have passed away. I have to say that’s one thing I absolutely love about GreatPetCare it helps me keep track of everything I need to know if my dog has an issue I have her shot records right on hand in my phone not attached to a collar around her neck that she can lose and plus also is uncomfortable with.

Please I’m begging you fix GreatPetCare I couldn’t see trying to keep track of all my animals information without it!! 🙏🏻🐾🙏🏻🐾🙏🏻🐾🙏🏻

Love this app....BUT older phones don’t play nice.

We got a new puppy and started to use GreatPetCare two months ago and loved it! But......I have an older phone, and the updates have caused trouble. One update reordered the “categories” so our logging potty n food turned into different icons entirely...which was ok if a little confusing. But this last update is the reason for me writing....The screen asking for a payment plan repeatedly comes out of nowhere, cancelling my attempt to input info over and over again! Hard enough to input info with a wiggly puppy without GreatPetCare fighting me too! I am glad to see the developer is working for improving GreatPetCare , so I hope it is fixed soon. Until then sadly I need to use a different app. (P.S. my “older” phone is an iphone 6. The pop-up screen isn’t a problem for my husband’s 6s).

Functionality Needs Improvement

Overall, it’s a good app! It allows you track important activities related to your pet, retrieve medical records, and do more. Completing all the functions you desire on GreatPetCare is considered easy as GreatPetCare ’s layout is simple where everything is easy to find. However, I have to take 2 stars away from GreatPetCare as the simplest functions can not be completed; eg: deleted or editing activities already added. Moreover, tasks can not be checked as completed, so they will continue lingering the entire time!

In conclusion: GreatPetCare is great and the features provided are awesome, but I wish everything would work!

Not sure if I like it yet

GreatPetCare is a bit confusing but you can eventually find what you need. I think my biggest complaint is that I can not add what vaccines my dog/cat got. I have to request the records from the vet. I have the print out right here it would be nice to be able to input it

Second problem I have is with medication input. My dog is on gabapentin but I can not put that in. I have to look up a brand name for the medication and put that in. For all but one medication I had to search up a brand name. Over the counter medication are not even listed. So I can not add them. Also you can say how many pills they take but not what the strength of the pill is. This is very important information and should be included.

I may change my review with use but for now it’s how I see it

Used to be great; new updates ruined it

The good: Great place to log medical/grooming/dietary info for your pet!

The bad: App used to be top notch, however, current updates make it frustratingly unusable. App crashes constantly, especially when trying to request medical records. New layout makes everything MUCH harder to find. Requested medical records for dog #1, then went and tried to request medical records for dog #2. It refused, saying that I had already requested records for that same dog. Completely logs me out of GreatPetCare whenever GreatPetCare has a minor update, so I’m constantly having to retype login info.

Such a shame. Used to be my favorite pet app. Will no longer be recommending to friends.

Great app, recent version may have removed functionality

First off, I had been having some problems with the recent version, contacted support and heard back within about 12 hours, on a weekend. While going back and forth with them on gathering up info on my issues, suddenly the issues weren’t really happening anymore, so either it was user error or perhaps I was being too impatient

The only “issue” that seems to still remain is that I believe the functionality of being able to attach multiple pets to a single activity seems to have been removed. So now when I feed or walk both my dogs, I have to enter the activities separately. Again, I’m still waiting to hear back from support at this point, because it’s also possible that this is still another use error/oversight

New paywall

I’ve used GreatPetCare for a while because it was free, convenient, and worked with my vet. I was disappointed to find out that they have updated it so even basic vaccinations records cost money to pull. It wouldn’t have felt like a big deal if that was the case from the beginning, but the fact that it used to be a free service and costs were added later (without adding any extra value) puts a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

Good app…but

I have used GreatPetCare for many years. Before the name change and it has evolved nicely until as of late. The things that were simple and easy to add and change are no longer easy. I use GreatPetCare for keeping my own records on my animals and don’t need updates from vets. I used to be able to update shot records and other things easily but that is no longer the case. I like the fact that I can use it to track all of my animals in one place. I would like it to be simpler to add vaccines and it track it in the reminders automatically as well as show up in the vaccine history.

Very helpful... to an extent.

I like GreatPetCare because for one I didn’t have to drive an hour and a half JUST to get my dogs rabies records nor did I have to make a phone call. I simply sent a request through GreatPetCare and I got the records within like a week maybe less. Which is great. My only problem is on GreatPetCare it says you can find a local vet and since I moved cities/towns I thought GREAT! but every time I try to find a vet on GreatPetCare NOTHING comes up. It only works if you’re looking for your current or last veterinary clinic. So that’s the only thing that actually irks me. Other than that it’s a great handy app!

Love this app

I use GreatPetCare for all my reptiles. Feeding and cleaning schedules can get kind of hectic when you don’t keep track of them. Having everyone’s info in one place is great and there are so many features that I do enjoy. In the future though, I’m hoping for some improvements to certain features. My snake needs to eat every 3 weeks, but this is not an option for being reminded in GreatPetCare . I’ve tried the custom selection, but it doesn’t work for me. Also, not all animals weigh over 1 pound. Many of my baby geckos are about 5 grams, so the ability to choose what scale of weight you need would be awesome. I look forward to the new things that will hopefully come to GreatPetCare.

App Functions Request

GreatPetCare is fantastic and I have been using this for a couple of years and it has been a tremendous help. The more I use it the more I see the benefits of it. I don’t use it for anything other than our pets medical records so I can’t comment on other features but, our Vet & PawPrint have been fantastic when we requested records to be added to PawPrint.
In using it more there are a couple of suggestions but, they play no role in how grateful I am for GreatPetCare!
1. Allow backdating when adding start date for medication.
2. Allow a “custom” medication, supplement, or vitamin to be added to medication area. We have up to 5 dogs when my grand doggies are with us and being able to keep track of what vitamins and such that each dog gets would be great without having to go down to the notes area. It would just pop up in reminders like the medications.
3. Same thing for request 2 but for dog food
4. Allow removal or change a vaccine that is not overdue. Example; while in NY they gave the Leptospirosis vaccine separately from the DHPP but, when I got back to Texas it was included in one vaccine. So it now keeps reminding me that Twinki and Marley are behind on their vaccinations.
Respectfully,
Tammy

Awesome and convenient

Easy to use, allows for uploading documents, recording vaccinations, requesting medical records, sharing with another caretaker or whoever, and keeping track of all aspects of my dogs’ healths. I like to record things on my paper planner, but my husky and German shepherd can be a little squirmy and rambunctious in the clinic sometimes so just pulling out my phone one handed is helpful. I wish more vets knew about apps like this. The office and I went back and forth because they weren’t familiar with this system, but in the end they were able to send the records. I’m afraid to request again, haha. Wonderful app!

I LOVE this app—it’s an ACTUAL lifesaver

EVERY PET PARENT SHOULD HAVE GreatPetCare. From day-to-day updates to family/friends about your pet and funny pics, to essential veterinary information in times of crisis, GreatPetCare can help you do/store everything!

My cat is still alive because of GreatPetCare. About a year ago, she had a near-death experience where her brain swelled and she had progressively worse seizures until she was non responsive. I downloaded pawprint sitting in the waiting area so I could quickly and accurately relay the weeks’ progression to the necessary personnel.

My cat survived by the skin of her teeth, and would’ve been dead in the next hour by the time we finished the diagnostics and got her the necessary medications. If not for pawprint’s super-easy categorization system and ability to add information SO FAST, my baby would not be the happy, playful little furball she is today.

Yes, GreatPetCare has a couple bugs. But I’ve used it for over a year and let me be very clear—the developers are making very steady progress. But what matters even MORE than that is how obviously they CARE about the people who use their app. I submitted some email feedback a while back and they responded almost immediately! And asked for specific info and were very communicative and open to listening and willing to help. I’ve never before felt like the team behind an app on my phone has cared about individual users like PawPrint’s does.

I can’t say enough good things about GreatPetCare or the team that makes it. Just download it. You’ll be glad you did.

Better than the others

I previously used PetDesk, but was not happy that if a veterinarian didn’t use the platform, I couldn’t upload vaccination records into GreatPetCare . With Pawprint I can do exactly that. GreatPetCare has allowed me to keep all of my animals’ documents in one place. When I upload the rabies certificate for example, and then share the medical record - that document gets shared with whomever I like (groomer, new vet, doggie day care, etc). Thanks Pawprint!
