After a bus driver refused to let me board with a cash fare in exact change despite lots of signage saying that was allowed and my having done it earlier in the day, I resorted to downloading BudapestGO. Jet lagged and with my phone battery dying, I waited eons for it to download, couldn't create an account, gave up and walked back to my hotel, exhausted. I finished the setup the following morning—had to try both Apple and Google login multiple times before I was able to create an account, which also required agreeing to all sorts of data sharing, providing my home address, credit card info (no Apple Pay), etc. I haven’t actually managed to use it yet. Person who said it’s bad for tourists is right!

BudapestGO will not work below ground in the Budapest Metro! BudapestGO also does not prove an off-line verification of your validation of any ticket purchased in BudapestGO . So, even though you validate your tickets purchased in this app before getting on the Metro, when you get off, the “inspectors” will target tourists and demand to see your validation in BudapestGO , which will not show up. They will the demand 12,000 HUF ($35USD) in cash on the spot as a “fine.” It’s a scam and they know it. Good luck getting your money back. As soon as I turned a corner near an exit and got connection, boom! My validation appeared in BudapestGO . I went immediately back to the scammer/inspector, but she had fled. Her partner of course pretended not to know anything. Solutions. Do not reply on BudapestGO below ground in the Metro. I went to customer service and reported the incident and they are aware of the connection problems below ground. So you know these “inspectors “ know exactly where to stand and go after tourists. The money goes in their pocket and they disappear. Instead, use this app only above ground and if you have to use the Metro, purchase a separate, paper ticket and validate it through the machine so you have proof.

Thought that this would be an easy way to get a train pass for visiting Budapest; started correctly by having Sign in with Apple.

But then, started asking for way too much info for a train pass, as well as a third party site for credit card instead of Apple Pay.

I miss half my trams and buses waiting for BudapestGO to open so I can validate. The paper slips are easier.

It’s almost a setup. The system is overly complicated and conductors tries to scam people in paying fine. Just buy daily passes if you want to use this pathetic public transport service who targets tourists.

App cost me $30 because the option to select two passengers only appeared when you open BudapestGO and it was unclear when purchasing day passes if you were buying one ticket for one person or if the pass counted for two. There was no way for me to go in BudapestGO and verify how many tickets I need to purchase or how many passengers I selected. Left me paying a fine for unknowingly only purchasing one ticket and paying an unnecessary fine of $30 for not having the second.

And seeing Devs responses to reasonably detailed feedback does not leave the user hopeful that feedback will be addressed to improve the product. Time to find new Devs.

In my case, reg process to which new user is passed on to web interfacrle was terrible and precluded using app. If I can't use my email and website can't specify pw specification errors I as a user can't and won't use app.

A nightmare for tourists. Procedure for validating tickets not implemented well.

DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU WANT A FINE because it did not properly validate the ticket at the station. It validated when I went in and then invalidated itself and then I got a fine.

Removed the best features:
Seeing the live location of your transport and the next transit ,
Being able to tap the stop to see the list of transits coming there and their ETAs.

App freezes upon loading. Can’t get in. My pass is inside BudapestGO . Stick with paper passes.

I registered with a valid credit card and I’ve been completely unable to purchase a ticket! I’ve tried numerous times to go with the text verification. I have tried tapping my valid card to the phone. Nothing works. I either get a error or no response.

Trying to purchase tickets before heading to Budapest… what a nightmare!

Clearly, they are constantly getting hacked and
overburdening us with security features that don’t work..

Registered via email, confirmed the email.
But unable to login to BudapestGO to save locations, or purchase tickets.

Perhaps it doesn't work if you are currently outside Hungary.

Pretty useless if you are visiting and want to plan/purchase tickets via a mobile app.

App doesn't have function to pay with Pay Pal. If you are from the US your bank will ask you to confirm your payment probably using your phone number which of course won’t work in Hungary. You can't buy tickets with US cards, I tried 3 different credit and debit cards

It's especially inconvenient when BudapestGO has an error right when you're trying to catch the bus to the airport, and then you miss your flight

as is, it is pretty annoying. Incredibly slow, limited payment options—buying paper tickets makes life easier: and it should be the other way round…

I used to live BudapestGO but it’s been acting up for a few weeks. When I click on the map it says “outside BKK service area” when clearly that’s not the case.

It is an amazing app, but since recently it does not work. App simply crashes after launch. Update of iOS till 11.3.1 did not help. iPhone SE. please fix.

Klassz app, naponta használom. Picit lehetne gyorsabb a bérlet előszedése, bérleteseknek praktikus lenne egy watch app, csak a qr kódot kellene mutatnia. További jó fejlesztést!

A program zsenialis kezdeményezés, de ha ra lehetne keresni magára a járatokra, nem csak a megállóknal lévőkre, akkor minden 3rd party program felesleges lenne. Hajra!

A fizetés rész katasztrófa, simplepay helyett lehetne Apple Pay vagy csak simán elmenthetne a kártya adatokat. Most három Appon kell végigmenni mire veszel egy 350-és jegyet. Pl a Bubi ezt jól megoldotta azt lenne érdemes lemásolni. Amúgy sok sikert, ki fogja ez forrni magát .

Non-locals!!! If you notice upon arriving to Budapest that your data is having issues connecting, don’t use BudapestGO. Otherwise it’s great. Unfortunately, you cannot scan the QR-code if you don’t have a stable data connection. Asking the info centers for help will just get you an answer of “you have to buy another ticket”
Would be cool if it was possible to scan the QR code and have everything stored locally rather than needing a connection to a network

This is one of the best transportation apps I’ve seen, if not the best. Great search features. If you just want to find trams to your destination, great!...just filter out the other modes of transportation (bus, metro, etc..). Map is interactive, shows where you are, shows where the bus, tram, metro is...but a little buggy in this regard. Great tutorial to get you going. Highly recommended. By the way, you can buy multi hour tickets good for all modes of transportation, (except maybe the bicycles and funicular). I bought the 72-hour pass for about 14€ - priceless if you’re going to traverse the city.

This truly amazing app actually shows where the bus or tram is right now. The icons of each vehicle move on the map as they travel. The excellent interface provides routing and timetable information brilliantly. Public bike rental locations are shown, along with the number of bikes remaining. Many more things. Absolutely first-rate.

BudapestGO was a god-send for our trip to Budapest. The 15 day pass was dirt cheap and perfect for our plans. With BudapestGO , we never had to worry about how to get home. Wish every European city would have something this user friendly

Allowing you to buy any ticket available via credit card and having it on your phone without printing is supper convenient.
Inspectors have checked my tickets and worked flawlessly.
Routing works well

Used BudapestGO for planning all the sight seeing trips in Budapest. Would highly recommend it.
