I want to take a minute to upgrade my previous review. I have had tremendous success lately with Mylio. I think many of my issues were related to a Passport external drive that was one of my Mylio Vaults. I’ve reformatted it several times, but it must have some incompatibility issues out of the box that support couldn’t identify with the info they had. Now, I am loving the product as I wanted too. As I said, conceptually it’s great, now it’s working great in reality. I have invested many, many hours resolving the issues created by my initial failed synchs in terms of lost originals and duplicate files. Some my fault as it took a while to really understand what it did under the covers where I made bad decisions. So now my knowledge, system robustness and performance have greatly improved. I highly recommend this product for a serious photo curator, but move slow until you know your system.

Conceptually, this is a great product. I really want to like it. However, I have had nothing but issues. Primarily system crashes and failing synchronization across my devices. I send support many questions, some reps are helpful, others becoming impatient and short. Not really helping me resolve the issues. Makes me wonder how wide spread the bugs are. As I said, great concept that falls short.

I’ve had this on my iPad for a year, and it imported some photos...so far, so good. That’s it. I’ve tried tagging a friend. I have hundreds of pix of him eating. I would like to tag them. Like for Tony, Eating, location and time stamp. That’s why I downloaded it, it boasts it does this, easy, across platforms. They obviously know what I would like it do. The files just sit. I try manually tagging Tony. all’s good. Face Rec, nope, nothing works. It is so non intuitive. I’m not a Luddite, but I don’t so much with pictures except take them and never delete them. I need a too, to organize them,
The videos are as arcane. No first time videos...oh yes there is one, overwriting the time stamp on batches with a phone. No, start a tag named tony and look for his face.
I downloaded it before thanksgiving, I was going to give everybody a nice scrapbook for turkey day. Then Christmas..and now. The download on a MacBook is odd, it doesn’t go through App Store. What’s up with that? Shady.

If you can get it to workin week one,,I’d say go for it.. I’ve wasted too much time.

Installed MylioPhotos on iOS 12.1 and defaulted to portrait mode to setup while I was in landscape mode.

Menus are interfering with the top status bar, ie the close tab sits on the clock in the top left hand side of the screen (in landscape mode).

Menus and text are small and don’t scale when iPad is in Zoom mode (on the main home screen), but are bigger in some other menus.

Supports jpg and raw files on import, and sits them side by side which is good (unlike Apple’s photos app, which nests them).

I’m using the free account, so can’t comment on the more advanced features. From what I’ve seen, I will not be using MylioPhotos again until the next big update.

Also I’m against subscription models. I would prefer a set price for each device and a paid upgrade for newer versions with better features.

There is a Major Misconstrued Perception via Confusion to why Mylio is sucking way too many Gigs from within the Actual operating system
This should be a stand alone platform and not leaning on my personal storage for ant reason
same as Dropbox ect
If this is the case then why would I even need Mylio if the storage there absorbing I could just leave the originals where they are and not have to pay for me having less than where I started
I hope this Review puts an Urgency and Prioritization
as what needs to be payed Attention
This dehydration of User Gigs is a Major Flawed Restless consumer protocol
where there should be ease and Simplicity
To its operation and internal performance not mine
If you open more Cloud Space and Run your system Programs as Needed to Allocate Space being Available as iam paying you for a service your not paying me for my loss correct?
It’s your gigs which are not offering me space
So if it’s not Available to offer me
So I can see the value
Then simply say so I don’t continue to be mislead in changes are coming or being offered
I dont live my life in a Hail Mary world
then I will no longer be needing your services as my colleagues feel this way also
not mine that are valued
Enough said so just pay Attention to Our Requests
You will stay in Good Shape

On November of 2021 I subscribed and registered my Mylio photo organizer. It did what it what it said it would do, however, it ran into a bug where when you made a change on your IPad and sync to the iPhone you would get several copies of the same photo. Mylio corrected the bug with an upgrade and then things went down from there. I installed the upgrade, but now I was being charged for another subscription even though it was July and my 1 year subscription had not run out -I had 4 more months to go. I notified Mylio, but did not here back after 24 hours, so I retired my pc thinking that would correct the problem, but it made things worse because now I had to subscribe again if I wanted the program to work right only to find out that now I lost the photos in my Albums and would have to reinstall them. Then I couldn’t get the iPhone to sync with the iPad even though I paid for another year’s subscription. Now I’m canceling my subscription and feel Mylio shouldn’t charge for this program until they get the bugs worked out.

I love the concept of Mylio. I’ve been using it for a few years now. However, there are several critical bugs and missing features that Mylio refuses to address, or get backlogged. For the high price tag that Mylio charges, they should really step up their development team and provide a clear roadmap, driven by customers. Let us vote on what new things are added so time isn’t wasted on features no is asking for. And prioritize bug fixes that critically impact peoples ability to use MylioPhotos . If these things are done, my rating will increase and I will once again be able to recommend Mylio to others.

RE developer response: I’ve already submitted several tickets. Support is aware of the issues I’ve reported but can’t do anything until the developers release fixes.

Love the concept and execution of Mylio. It brings all my pictures together into one cohesive structure and makes it easy for my wife to find pictures as well! I would love to see an AppleTV app as well so I can further extend the reach of my photos to my living room TV without the need to airplay from my phone. Better yet, use the local storage in the AppleTV as another location!

Love MylioPhotos!! The only thing I do not like is that in order for me to play the videos in MylioPhotos , they have to be still saved to my camera roll. Kind of devastating the whole purpose of saving room in my camera roll. Please change that!

I think Mylio is the answer for photographers who are looking for a way to manage a lot of photos across a number of devices. With the demise of Picasa and IPhoto, and the horrible replacements from both Google and Apple, I needed a program that let me control my files in my named directories in a structure that makes sense to me. Mylio imported nearly 40,000 photos in less than an hour, without destroying my files and directories. I was then automatically able to sync all of them to two iPads in less than an hour across WiFi without the use of any cloud, giving my wife access to nearly twenty years of our photos. So easy to use! The speed is impressive and the overall presentation and searching options are close to what I liked in Picasa. I think it still needs a simple directory tree as an option but what they have is good enough for me.

I’ve had and tried just about every photo organizer app available and had yet to find one that fits my needs…until Mylio. I can keep all my photos (gigabytes worth) on my desktop and be able to see ALL my photos on both my phone and my tablet. I can sort events using the Albums which gives me freedom to rearrange the photos and then rename them all so that they show up correctly in my photo explorer if I want to use that for some reason. I can easily update time stamps and dates if a picture date was overwritten somehow. I just found the way to see the titles and descriptions added on my phone so I can scroll thru and see the info quickly. LOVE everything about it. And can also keep all our devices synced with the plus version so all the photos are always available!

ok so i am on the hunt for a windows compatible photo manager to transition off of macOS photos app and was really having trouble with how complex and expensive the options are. i am not a photographer, just a person with the occasional travel and friends and family photos (but i dont want to give my images away to google photos) really i want something with low learning curve, affordable to get setup, nice and easy interface (with or without editing) and with the easy organization and tagging with apple’s photos/iphoto apps. WOWIE WOW is this exactly what i wanted!! i havent been this excited to use a new app since playing neko atsume. thanks so much to the developers for making this, i will be working to setup my vault for about 16k pics i have and happily will upgrade for a paid license to make sure MylioPhotos is here to stay!

MylioPhotos is wonderful! It provides everything and more for all of your photo needs i have no complaints whatsoever. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that it doesn’t let me scroll threw my photos using my magic keyboards Trackpad. . . I think the $10 monthly subscription just to do what MylioPhotos was made to do is wild & should only apply to people using the online cloud storage feature. . MylioPhotos does make transferring a breeze but i cant justify the $10 monthly just to do the things it was meant to do in the first place. . . I love MylioPhotos but $10 monthly with bare minimum to no support for the Magic Keyboard might force me to look for alternative options. . . Overall i love MylioPhotos , just PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work on better Keyboard support. . . its almost 2025! ! THANK YOU!!!

It does everything they say it does, while leaving your photos on your drives exactly where you had them. This means that I do not have the problems I kept having with aperture and photos, where they would get scrambled and then, because things were inside the package (or whatever it is called), I couldn’t see what happened or sort it out. That is what led me to search for something else. This is the one I’ve stuck with. The sync is seamless - and if you leave your computer on, it will sync over the internet (just not through a cloud version of the photos).

My only wish is that it would sync to drop box or iCloud or the Microsoft equivalent - google photos and their other option are not for me.

Suggestion:

1. Would loooove if I could pull a photo into Procreate app /other draw paint apps - u can in Photos on my iPad Pro - so hope u can do this

2. Password protect an album -would be nice - eg my artwork

3. Sometimes I need to add a link url to a photo - eg artist ref photos
- would this be possible ?

4 - UI - my first go to - is ...Select some - from the menu - but it’s waay down the panel - ability to slide up the panel would be great - ie organize my workspace

5. Dark theme - lovely - but would prefer an alt light theme - else - I have to turn Display/brightness way up - just for MylioPhotos - and my eyes are very light sensitive at high brightness - but are ok on the standard grey light theme
- unless u can adjust the brightness within MylioPhotos itself and only affect MylioPhotos - though I would like a grey light theme

Extremely capable application with lots of features. This is the only app I’ve found that allows me to keep a common photo library across all devices regardless of the operating system. Despite their extensive manual and online help, the program is tough to learn and takes some trial and error to fully understand how it works. Once you get it it is amazingly powerful and flexible. I recommend it but take your time learning how to use it.

Revised Review: Now that I have taken the time to work through Mylio Photos Fundamentals (about 75 videos), I have a much better understanding of the potential Mylio+ offers, and I’m pretty impressed. This is MylioPhotos for organizing my photos I have been looking for. My MacBook, iPad, iPhone, and two vaults are synced—very nice. My only complaint is that a 30-day free trial to Mylio Photos+ is offered in their online Manual and Fundamentals course, but in reality, they will give only a 7-day trial, which is unfortunate.

This is a very sophisticated piece of software that allows you to store,backup and share photos between different devices without getting the cloud involved. One thing people dont realize is that once you upload your photos to the cloud you not only loose the quality during the compression and upload process but your originals in a sense could be lost anytime. Its got great image recongnition and photo organization. I would highly recommend it

MylioPhotos is absolutely amazing. I can't believe how efficient and fast it is. I have tried and used a few others and was always left a little disappointed. I'm a professional photographer and I use iPads containing my portfolio work to travel with to meet clients. MylioPhotos does exactly what it says and sets a bar of excellence for all the others to reach. Quite honestly the others may never reach that bar. Mylio goes above and beyond. The others better take note. Thank you for such a great app.

This is a very unique take on organizing photos. And it works very very well for me.

Other reviews mention problems wich are major misunderstandings in the very basic concept of Mylio. I have tried it with 50k Raw files and it works effortlessly. It backs them up, syncs and stores everything across multiple devices.
I can browse and see all photos on my phone with no lag..and it does not use any noticeable space. I can tag and confirm face tags on the phone wherever I am and it syncs to my other devices when im home.

Facial recognition is very, very good. Fast and exact with similar controls as Picasa had.

Really amazing solution. I can believe I have not seen Mylio mentioned before.

I’d been searching for years for an image & video organization system that worked for me and had just about given up when i stumbled upon Mylio a few months ago. Since then i’ve loaded 54,000 photos & movies and have had some time to put MylioPhotos to a test. I love it. Very intuitive, and the developer seems to have thought of just about every need or issue that could arise (and that make other photo organizing apps so frustrating). I’m storing original files on an external drive (with IDrive cloud backup) and synchronizing access via Mylio across 4 Mac laptops and 2 iphones. It would be impossible to organize and easily access so many images and videos without a sophisticated and efficient system, and Mylio is it! It would be great to have some improvements to the video side of things in the future - face recognition and other features available now for photos - but all in all a great product already!!
