Natalie - what a gem!!!

Natalie is the quintessentially perfect server and we are lucky enough to get her every time! Her energy is just the right amount for the restaurant. We were pleased with our experience with Natalie after getting yelled at for grabbing a napkin and then was given plastic fork and knives, when clearly, we were given stainless steel utensils during our experience....Natalie totally smoothed it over enough for us to come back again...!

Update = $100 in lost rewards

I had easily over $100 in rewards. But when I go to view or use them, GyuKaku is requiring me to transfer to the new app. It asks for my email address thatbwas used to originally sign up, or for my email address assigned to my Facebook account... luckily for me, it’s the same address. But when I enter it, I get an “invalid information” error message. I check it multiple times and no typos. So I click the link to email them if I have issues... but... here we are a week later and not even a response. Go to look up a phone number to call customer support, there isn’t one listed.

I’m giving it to the end of this week, if they don’t contact me or get this resolved, I just won’t eat there again... I live in Honolulu... I have LOTS of BBQ restaurant options aside from Gyu-Kaku... the reward program was actually the reason I always chose them over the other places. This wouldn’t be a big deal for a couple bucks, but over $100 worth of rewards... gone.

Notifications Control

Like with most Japanese companies, they tend to be insular and only want to work with other Japanese companies. So I assume they are working with a Japanese app developer, and if that is the case, I get why GyuKaku isn’t fully flushed out and why it’s so basic (there are no big/successful Japanese dotcoms, and they lag when it comes to the internet/apps).

Regardless of the rewards/promos offered by Gyu-Kaku/Rein which are great (minus going from a flat $25 off to a percentage), this is a basic app with very limited functionality. It is so limited that even if I turned off notifications via my iOS, I am still inundated via email of how my points are constantly expiring (yea, they added that too, why? We earned the points except “use it or lose it”).

I have/had ten of thousand of points, so this can get extremely annoying quick because I am constantly being notified of expiring eff’n points!!! or of promos.

I know Gyu-Kaku as a restaurant operation is at the top of their game, except GyuKaku reflects their limitations as a company and the 3rd party’s ineptitude. Get on it and fix this issue (I don’t expect that to happen tho).

Lunch date Go-To

My husband and I love this place. It's our weekly lunch date go to. Plus the prices during lunch is way cheaper and you get more items with your meal. Always great customer service whichever location we go to. App is awesome for points! Never had any issues with scanning or redeeming or updating! Plus they'll kick in extra points for "being awesome"!

Expired points!

You didn’t bother telling customers that points now expire on 2/1 until 2/1! I just lost 363 POINTS WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. That’s $363 of my business down the drain. Awful customer service and business practices right here. Not the first time this restaurant has been shady about stuff either, like their previously unposted unconventional happy hour hours. Ugh. This isn’t surprising but is very disappointing.

Plus that whole “$10 off $30 of you go to news and offers tab with in 48 hours” is a lie. I went there just one hour after downloading this update but got a “no new news or offers” message.

Trouble with update.

EDIT: contacted customer service and they were able to give me my previously accumulated points. I've changed my rating to three stars. I will update once I visit the restaurant and put GyuKaku to use.

Original review: Lost all my points and rewards with the update. That's a real bummer. Hopefully they can fix this because I spent a lot of money there and it's a shame to loose it like that. 1 star review because what good is a rewards app that can't save your rewards.

First time in New Orleans

Amazing food and staff. Kudos to the owner Kai for taking his time to hangout and speak to us. It’s great to see the compassion and dedication it takes to open one of these restaurants. Tiffany our lovely waiter was so attentive and always has a smile on her face. We’re so glad they finally open one here on NOLA. A definitive must try restaurant. Great for family and special occasions.

They used to be the best

I used to come here all the time and the quality and service was 10/10. Recently the quality of food has been lacking. The meats are still great. But the appetizers and service is 1 star. They seem to have switched distributors because it’s not worth it to dine here anymore and I’m a frequent customer. The drinks also have started to be watered down. Would only recommend during happy hour or for the red meat selections only.

It’s been too long!!!!

I have missed you guys. The outside dining was never the same, and I could not have your food delivered.
It did upset me, though, that you let a bunch of my points expire. But, if that was in order to survive, you’re welcome.
See you guys, soon!!!

Reward Points All Disappeared

I had seen the email about rewards expiring and planned on using my points before the new expiration policy. I know I had 500 points, equivalent to $25 off my next meal previously that I have not used yet. I went to check today and was asked to input my email and name and was greeted with a Welcome to Gyu-Kaku. There is only 100 points now. I would like to know what happened to my points and if there is a way I could get them back as they have not expired yet according to the new announcement. I’d like my rewards back.

18th birthday

We’ve been coming to Gyu-Kaku Mililani since it opened! Our ohana HoAloha design group also built it so we have a personal interest. We love coming here because of the great service, food & amazing staff! Tonight we were serviced by Jay & she was so friendly & attentive! Mahalo to uncle Rick Nakashima & the Gyu-Kaku ohana!

Finally back open!

Glad to have been able to visit even if for take out. The food was great as usual even if the selection was less than usual. Will be back again to dine “in” outside.

Premo is the best!!!

We always come to the Windward location and Premo is the best!!! Everyone is amazing, but Premo always provides top notch service! Keeps us coming back even though we live closer to another location! Thank you Premo!

Great service fun experience good food

This place is wonderful for a solo or a group. They are always so kind and the food is good. The service is the best in Charlotte. Highly recommend this restaurant for just about any occasion.

Was working...not anymore

GyuKaku is frustrating. I have had no problems using it the first two times; but since then, all I get is a "can not connect to the sever" message OR all of my rewards are missing! I have uninstalled and reinstalled over four times and still no change to the problems. Not to mention the connection in the Windward location is nearly impossible. Please help me enjoy GyuKaku again.

Gyu- Kaku Waikiki

Absolutely Delicious

I can not recommend a better place then this. I’ve been to them all over the country and the service and food are always top notch.

Waiting staff and food is great, but Maitre D bad

We accidentally booked for the next day and maitre d said there are no tables when the place is empty. I literally changed the reservation on Opentable in front of these 2 dudes then they sat us.

Food and waiting staff are always good though!

Worked for me

Other reviews say they lost their points after the update but it worked fine for me, going to update once i redeem my points

First review

After losing a lot of points with the deadline I don’t go as often as before and don’t spend as much when I do go.

Reservation Issues

When attempting to use the reservation portion, it keeps black screening and have to start all over. Pretty annoying, took about 8 attempts to finally get it, only way i knew it worked was I received my email confirmation.

Also its shady about the expiring points. I had about 800pts all gone, I definitely will be dining with them less now. Looking for new alternatives.

Happy customer

this app has the nicest staff and wonderful food. We come two to three times a month and always leave happy. The rewards program is the cherry on the top.

App doesn’t work consistently

When I want to use my points in the restaurant GyuKaku ‘can’t connect to the server’ and there’s nothing they can do about it. So I didn’t get to use my points (which then expired the following day) and had to pay for the meal that should have been free, but nobody can fix it. Not acceptable.

App

GyuKaku crashes on my phone. I even tried deleting and reinstalling multiple times. When I reported it, I meant mentioned I had done this. The then suggested I delete and install again. What? You kidding. I can’t scan receipts. I have to email to have the points added and trust they are actually doing it.

This Gyu-Kaku is awesome during lunchtime

Great food, excellent quality of food to cook and eat. Sets for lunchtime makes it cost effective. Five of us ate three sets, spring rolls, edamame, beef bimimbap. With drinks rice salads and soups. $78 plus tip. Awesome!!!! All stuffed. Thanks. This Gyu-Kaku has very talented servers.

Won't accept my receipt!

It says my receipt is too old and it's only been a couple days. What's going on?

Update: I've been told the time limit is 2 days t scan receipt. They gave me the pts but they should list this time limit to avoid confusion.
